Hulk Hogan on the RAW Debut on Netflix

Hulk Hogan and his Real American Beer brand are facing a lawsuit filed by Michelle Harlukowicz, an Akron, Ohio resident, who alleges negligence after being struck by a beer can during a promotional event. The incident occurred on August 19, 2024, at Thirsty Cowboys, a live music venue in Medina, Ohio.

Incident Details

Harlukowicz claims she attended the event to see WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan when an unopened can of beer was thrown into the crowd, hitting her on the forehead. The impact caused a severe injury that required 10 stitches and has left her with permanent scarring. Her attorney, Eric Tayfel, described the injury as significant, stating, “It’s unconscionable to think that you’re going to go to a bar to see a celebrity and end up being pelted with a can of beer”.

The lawsuit, filed on February 10, 2025, alleges that Hogan and other unnamed promoters were tossing beer cans into the crowd to promote Real American Beer. It is unclear whether Hogan himself or another promoter threw the can that caused the injury. Medina Township Police responded to the scene but did not file charges due to the inability to determine who was responsible for throwing the can.

Legal Claims

The lawsuit accuses Hogan and his team of negligence for failing to ensure the safety of event attendees. Harlukowicz is seeking damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, emotional distress, and permanent disfigurement. Attorney Tayfel emphasized the need for accountability, stating that companies should not permit full cans of beer to be thrown into crowds.

Real American Beer’s Response

As of now, neither Hulk Hogan nor Real American Beer has issued a public statement regarding the lawsuit. The brand has gained popularity since its launch in 2024 and is a sponsor of WWE events.

Broader Implications

This incident raises questions about safety protocols at promotional events. While tossing items into crowds is common at such gatherings, throwing heavy or potentially dangerous objects like unopened beer cans poses significant risks. Legal experts suggest this case could set a precedent for how brands manage crowd engagement activities in the future.

Harlukowicz’s lawsuit highlights the importance of balancing fan engagement with attendee safety. As this case develops, it may bring more scrutiny to promotional practices involving physical giveaways at events.

The Rise of Non-Alcoholic Beer: A Guide to the Best Non-Alcoholic Brews in 2025 https://thebeerthrillers.com/2025/01/10/the-rise-of-non-alcoholic-beer-a-guide-to-the-best-non-alcoholic-brews-in-2025/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-rise-of-non-alcoholic-beer-a-guide-to-the-best-non-alcoholic-brews-in-2025 Fri, 10 Jan 2025 17:59:37 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15863 The Rise of Non-Alcoholic Beer: A Guide to the Best Non-Alcoholic Brews in 2025

Back in 2023 we covered the rise of Non-Alcoholic beers (The Rise of Non-Alcoholic Beer: A Guide to the Best Non Alcoholic Brews) and in the time since then, the non-alcoholic craft beer (and beer and other drinks as well) market has only boomed. So I felt like it was time to expand the original article and show how the trends have changed (or mostly in this case just exploded) and just how popular this market has become.

Non-alcoholic beer has continued its meteoric rise, with the market expected to expand by 4% volume CAGR through 2028. This growth is driven by increasing health consciousness, changing social norms, and significant improvements in taste and variety. Let’s explore the latest trends and top picks for non-alcoholic beers in 2025.

Market Trends

Expanding Availability

Non-alcoholic beer is becoming increasingly accessible. In the UK, 86% of pubs now offer a no-or-low beer option, with draught options expected to grow significantly. Major airlines have also started carrying NA beer, expanding its reach to new consumers.

The trend of expanding availability is particularly evident in the airline industry, with multiple carriers introducing non-alcoholic beer options. JetBlue became the first major U.S. airline to offer non-alcoholic beer on domestic flights, partnering with Athletic Brewing to serve their Upside Dawn Golden ale. Similarly, Alaska Airlines has introduced Best Day Brewing’s Kölsch as a complimentary option in premium classes. The growth extends beyond airlines and pubs, with retail sales showing significant momentum. According to recent data, dollar sales for non-alcoholic beer increased by 29.2%, reaching nearly $368.7 million, while case sales were up 20.3%. This expansion is driven by increasing consumer demand for healthier beverage alternatives and more inclusive drinking options, signaling a broader cultural shift towards non-alcoholic alternatives.

Technological Advancements

Brewing technology has made significant strides, addressing previous issues with bland or off-flavors. Innovations in yeast strains, vacuum distillation, and membrane filtration have allowed brewers to create non-alcoholic beers that closely mimic their alcoholic counterparts.

Mainstream Acceptance

Non-alcoholic beer is no longer viewed as a niche product. Large breweries and craft players alike are expanding their non-alcoholic offerings, with some even creating zero-proof versions of their flagship beers. Social acceptance has grown, with surveys indicating that consumers increasingly view non-alcoholic beer as “cool” or “respectable”.

Craft Breweries Embracing Non-Alcoholic Beer

Craft breweries have finally embraced the non-alcoholic trend, leveraging new brewing and de-alcoholizing technologies to create flavorful options. This shift has expanded the variety and quality of non-alcoholic craft beers available to consumers.

Health and Wellness Focus

The non-alcoholic beer market is benefiting from the growing focus on fitness and wellness. These beers offer a way for health-conscious individuals to enjoy the taste of beer without the negative effects of alcohol. Many brands are also developing lower-calorie and “better-for-you” options to cater to this demographic.

Sustainability in Non-Alcoholic Brewing

Sustainability has become a crucial aspect of the beer industry, including non-alcoholic options. Consumers increasingly favor brands that demonstrate responsible brewing practices, such as using solar power, adopting local sourcing, or implementing “farm-to-glass” ingredient strategies.

The Future of Non-Alcoholic Beer

As we move through 2025, the non-alcoholic beer market is poised for continued growth and innovation. With improving taste profiles, expanding distribution, and changing consumer preferences, non-alcoholic beer is cementing its place as a mainstream beverage option. Whether you’re participating in Dry January, looking for healthier alternatives, or simply enjoy the taste without the alcohol, there’s never been a better time to explore the world of non-alcoholic beer.

Non-alcoholic beer is a great option for those who are looking to cut back on their alcohol consumption or simply want to try something new. With a wide variety of flavors and brands available, there’s a non-alcoholic beer out there for everyone. Consider trying one of our top picks to experience the flavor and refreshment of beer without the alcohol. Cheers to healthier drinking habits!

The 109th Annual Pennsylvania Farm Show kicked off on January 3rd, 2025. The competition for the Best in Beer category has been an intense competition in past years. You can see the results here:

Imprint Brewing Cuts Brewing Staff and Halts Production at Hatfield Facility https://thebeerthrillers.com/2024/12/04/imprint-brewing-cuts-brewing-staff-and-halts-production-at-hatfield-facility/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=imprint-brewing-cuts-brewing-staff-and-halts-production-at-hatfield-facility Wed, 04 Dec 2024 13:20:17 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15769 Craft Beer Heartbreak: Imprint Beer Co. Hits Pause on Hatfield Brewing

In a shocking twist that’s left the craft beer community reeling, Imprint Beer Co., a beloved local brewery in Hatfield, has announced a major shake-up in their operations. Known for their innovative brews and loyal following, Imprint is facing a bitter reality that’s forcing them to halt beer production at their Hatfield facility.

Imprint Beer Co.

The Sobering News

The brewery dropped this bombshell on social media, citing economic pressures as the main culprit. At the heart of the issue? Hefty surcharges imposed by the Hatfield Municipal Authority on water usage and wastewater volumes. These unexpected costs have apparently tapped out the brewery’s resources, leaving them in a tough spot.

Imprint Beer Co is best known for their Schmoojies and (smoothie) sour beers. They are located at: 1500 Industry Rd STE R, Hatfield, PA 19440.

Imprint Goes to Social Media

Anyone who is familiar with BeerNerds and BeerGods Facebook groups, which are primarily Philadelphia / New Jersey based beer groups (but are national) would have seen some of the news about this already. Posts like this one:

A post from the BeerGods Facebook Group

There has been a lot of talk in other groups as well. Some like: Beer Nerds, BeerGods, BeerNERDS, TheBeerGods, and Pennsylvania Craft Breweries. (You can also always check out our group as well – The Beer Thrillers Group). There was lots of talk about how the brewery staff was let go, just weeks out from Christmas (today – December 4th, is officially three weeks before Christmas).

In response to all of these postings, the Imprint Beer Company themselves went to social media and made several posts. In it they discuss how important their staff is, how much they love their workers, and how vital the employees are to the company.

Its the typical responses you see from companies giving a “rah rah” speech; but at the same time, its also the same typical response you see to media backlashes that companies get. Not quite an apology, not quite overall sincerity, and not quite getting to the true issues of everything going on. You can read for yourself below, with their quoted post, and then the images they had on their posts. They posted this on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and whatever other social medias they have.

The post reads:

Swipe to learn why we are moving our production and packaging location.
We thank everyone who has reached out with their support over the past couple days.
As always, we love what we built, our staff, and especially all our customers. We are OF COURSE open as usual in the taproom and arcade in Hatfield for at least 3 more years!!
See you here 🍻

Staff Cuts and Community Reaction

Perhaps the most gut-wrenching part of this news is the impact on Imprint’s team. The brewery confirmed they’ve had to let go of their production and packaging staff, a decision that’s clearly left a sour taste in many mouths. Social media has been buzzing with reports of abrupt dismissals, with one former employee claiming they were fired in a mere 38-second phone call.

Hope on the Horizon?

Despite this setback, it’s not all doom and gloom for Imprint Beer Co. The brewery insists they’re not closing shop entirely. In fact, they claim sales are still ‘climbing briskly’ – a silver lining in an otherwise cloudy forecast. They’re actively scouting for a new production facility that won’t drain their resources with excessive surcharges.

This also comes on the heels of Sly Fox Brewing Owing Money for Damages and Penalties in related to tip wage theft.  (See also: Sly Fox Brewing Ordered to Pay Nearly $200K for Withholding Tips)

What This Means for Craft Beer Lovers

For now, Imprint fans might need to savor those last few cans in their fridges. But fear not, hop heads! The brewery is determined to get back to brewing as soon as possible. They’re committed to continuing their legacy of crafting those unique, handcrafted beers we’ve all come to love

The Bigger Picture

This situation highlights the challenges small breweries face in today’s economic climate. From rising costs to regulatory hurdles, craft brewers often find themselves navigating choppy waters. It’s a reminder of the passion and perseverance required to keep the craft beer scene thriving. As we raise a glass to Imprint Beer Co.’s resilience, let’s hope for a swift return to brewing. After all, the craft beer world wouldn’t be the same without their creative concoctions. Stay tuned, beer lovers – this story is still fermenting!

This is also a very poor look on Imprint Beer. Considering the timing in relation to Christmas, New Years, the Holidays, etc. Also given reports of how much people did not enjoy working for them, and now as the dirt will begin to work its way out on the various social media platforms.
We hope all staff that was working for them finds new jobs and new (and seemingly better) places of employment. Especially at this point in the year. We will also keep everyone updated on what goes on with Imprint Beer, as they move on from this.

Sly Fox Brewing Ordered to Pay Nearly $200K for Withholding Tips https://thebeerthrillers.com/2024/11/27/sly-fox-brewing-ordered-to-pay-nearly-200k-for-withholding-tips/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=sly-fox-brewing-ordered-to-pay-nearly-200k-for-withholding-tips Wed, 27 Nov 2024 05:10:21 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15749 Sly Fox Brewing Ordered to Pay Nearly $200K for Withholding Tips: What It Means for the Craft Beer Industry

In a story that’s sending ripples through Pennsylvania’s craft beer scene, Sly Fox Brewing, a well-known name with a strong local following, has been ordered to pay nearly $200,000 in back wages, damages, and penalties. This decision comes after an investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) found the brewery in violation of federal wage laws.

Let’s dive into what happened, why it matters, and what it says about supporting fair practices in the restaurant and craft beer industry.

Sly Fox Brewing Company logo

What Happened at Sly Fox Brewing?

The Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division discovered that two Sly Fox locations in Pittsburgh—the Taphouse at Point State Park (300 Liberty Avenue) and the Highline Brewery (46 S. 4th Street) — violated the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Specifically, they allowed managers to participate in the tip pool, a clear no-go under federal law.

For restaurant and brewery workers who rely on tips as a vital part of their income, this is more than just a policy violation—it’s a significant financial hit.

The Breakdown of Penalties:

  • Back wages recovered: $84,710
  • Liquidated damages: $84,710
  • Civil penalties: $15,435

In total, the brewery was required to pay $184,855 to rectify the situation.

Why This Matters

Craft beer is a community-driven industry, built on passion, creativity, and collaboration. But like any business, it must also adhere to fair labor practices.

“Restaurant workers often make low wages and depend on every dollar earned, including tips, to help support themselves and their families,” said John DuMont, the Wage and Hour District Director in Pittsburgh. His sentiment highlights the importance of respecting the hardworking people behind the scenes.

Whether you’re pouring pints, running food, or cleaning up after hours, every role contributes to the experience we beer lovers enjoy. Ensuring fair wages and proper treatment is essential for a thriving industry.

What Does This Mean for the Craft Beer Community?

For craft beer enthusiasts and brewery owners alike, this story serves as a wake-up call. It’s a reminder to support breweries that not only produce great beer but also take care of their employees.

For Brewery Owners:

If you’re running or thinking about starting a brewery, this is a clear signal to get your labor practices in order. The craft beer community values transparency and fairness, and maintaining these values is crucial to building a loyal customer base.

For Beer Lovers:

Next time you visit a brewery or restaurant, consider the people making it all happen. From your bartender to the back-of-house staff, everyone deserves fair pay for their hard work.

About Sly Fox

Sly Fox Brewing Company is a Pennsylvania craft beer staple, founded in 1995, and known for its bold flavors and innovative approach to brewing. With locations spanning the state, including the renowned Taphouse at Point State Park and the Highline Brewery in Pittsburgh, Sly Fox has built a reputation for quality beers that cater to a wide range of palates. From their flagship Pikeland Pils to seasonal favorites like Christmas Ale, the brewery offers a mix of traditional styles and creative brews that keep customers coming back. Over the years, Sly Fox has become a go-to destination for beer lovers and a key player in the local craft beer community.

Beyond its beers, Sly Fox is deeply rooted in Pennsylvania’s culture. Their involvement in events like the Sly Fox Bock Fest & Goat Race showcases their passion for creating experiences that bring people together. This blend of creativity and community engagement has helped the brewery maintain its popularity, even in a competitive craft beer landscape. However, recent labor-related controversies remind us that every business has room for growth and improvement. As Sly Fox continues to evolve, many hope it will prioritize not only great beer but also the well-being of its dedicated staff.

A Message to Other Employers

The Department of Labor isn’t taking violations lightly. “This legal action recovers the workers’ hard-earned wages and sends a message to other restaurant employers that violations come at a cost,” said Samantha N. Thomas, the Philadelphia Regional Solicitor of Labor.

The case against Sly Fox Brewing reinforces the importance of following labor laws and ensuring that tipped workers receive their full earnings.

Wrapping Up

While Sly Fox Brewing is known for its craft beer, this situation casts a shadow over the brand’s reputation. It’s a reminder that success in the craft beer world isn’t just about the product; it’s about the people.

As craft beer fans, we can use this moment to celebrate and support breweries that prioritize fairness and community. Let’s raise a glass to good beer—and to doing the right thing.

Tariffs and Taps: How Trump’s Trade Policies Would Impact Craft Breweries https://thebeerthrillers.com/2024/11/02/tariffs-and-taps-how-trumps-trade-policies-would-impact-craft-breweries/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=tariffs-and-taps-how-trumps-trade-policies-would-impact-craft-breweries Sat, 02 Nov 2024 05:32:18 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15776 Tariffs and Taps: How Trump’s Trade Policies Would Impact Craft Breweries

As craft beer enthusiasts, we often focus on the latest hop varieties or innovative brewing techniques. However, there’s a less palatable topic brewing in the background that’s affecting our favorite local breweries: tariffs. Let’s dive into how Donald Trump’s trade policies have been shaking up the craft beer world.

Trump’s Tariffs and How They Might Impact Craft Brewing

Aluminum Woes: More Than Just a Can of Trouble

Remember when cans were the hot new thing in craft beer? Well, they still are, but they’re causing headaches for brewers. Trump’s 10% tariff on aluminum has hit the industry hard. It’s not just a drop in the bucket – the Beer Institute estimated a whopping $347 million tax increase on the beer industry due to these tariffs. Take Oskar Blues, for example. This Colorado-based craft brewery pioneer estimated the tariff would cost them an extra $400,000 per year. That’s a lot of potential new brews or taproom upgrades going down the drain!

Squeezing Profits Like a Dry-Hopped IPA

Craft breweries operate on tight margins as it is. With these added costs, they’re feeling the squeeze:

  • Many breweries are struggling to pass on these costs to beer lovers (that’s us!).
  • Some are having to rethink their growth plans or even consider job cuts.
  • Competing with big beer is becoming even tougher, as the giants can more easily absorb these costs.

What’s on Tap for the Future?

As we look ahead, the future for craft breweries under these policies remains uncertain:

  • If Trump were to be re-elected, we might see these tariffs stick around or even increase.
  • Breweries might have to get creative with cost-cutting, potentially affecting the quality or variety of our favorite brews.
  • The industry’s impressive job creation streak could slow down.

Bottom Line: It’s Not All Foam and Games

While we love to focus on the fun side of craft beer, it’s crucial to understand the challenges our local brewers face. These tariffs have effectively canceled out some of the tax benefits craft breweries were enjoying, creating a bitter economic brew. So, the next time you’re sipping on your favorite local IPA or stout, remember the complex world behind that delicious beverage. And maybe, just maybe, consider supporting your local craft breweries a little extra – they might need it more than ever. Cheers to hoping for clearer skies (and cheaper cans) for our craft beer community!

How Trump’s Trade Policies Are Impacting Craft Breweries

(Information, extrapolated using economists, analysts, and Donald Trump’s first term. All information is sourced and cited at the end of the article.)

Donald Trump’s tariffs have had significant implications for craft breweries in the United States:

Impact on Costs

The 10% tariff on aluminum imposed by the Trump administration has directly affected craft breweries’ production costs.

This is particularly impactful because:

  • Many craft breweries have increasingly turned to aluminum cans for packaging their beer
  • Aluminum is a major input cost for brewers, with cans accounting for a significant portion of packaging

The Beer Institute estimated that the aluminum tariffs resulted in a $347 million tax increase on the beer industry.

Effects on Business Operations

The tariffs have put strain on craft breweries in several ways:

  • Reduced profit margins, as breweries often struggle to pass on increased costs to consumers
  • Potential job losses across the beer industry
  • Limitations on growth and investment in local communities

For example, Oskar Blues brewery estimated the tariff would cost their business an additional $400,000 per year.

Long-term Concerns

Craft brewers face ongoing challenges due to the tariffs:

  • Difficulty competing with larger beer brands that can more easily absorb cost increases
  • Potential need to cut costs in other areas, such as labor or ingredients
  • Concerns about the industry’s ability to continue growing and creating jobs

Future Outlook

If Trump were to be re-elected, craft breweries could expect:

  • Continuation or potential increase of existing tariffs on aluminum and steel
  • Possible new tariffs that could further impact production costs

The tariffs have effectively negated some of the benefits craft breweries received from tax relief measures, creating a challenging economic environment for the industry.

Aurochs Brewing Company Announce Their Upcoming Closure

Aurochs Brewing Company Will Cease Operations by End of 2024

Aurochs Brewing Company located at 8321 Ohio River Blvd, Emsworth, PA 15202 will be ceasing operations by the end of 2024. Its the start of the new month, but sadly also the beginning of the end for Aurochs Brewing Company. Over 10 years in business (established in 2012) and unfortunately they have had to make the tough and difficult decision to close by the end of the year. Known as one of the only gluten-free producing breweries not just in Pennsylvania, but in the greater east coast region; Aurochs Brewing made a name for themsleves over the 12 years of their operations.

Aurochs Brewing Company

Aurochs Brewing Company, located just outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, specializes in crafting naturally gluten-free beers. Founded by Ryan and Doug, both of whom have personal experiences with gluten intolerance—Ryan diagnosed in his twenties and Doug with Celiac disease since childhood—the brewery was born from a desire to create flavorful craft beers that are safe for those with gluten sensitivities. Since its inception, Aurochs has produced over 40 different styles of gluten-free beer, focusing on high-quality ingredients such as millet, quinoa, and buckwheat sourced from dedicated gluten-free suppliers.
The brewery has gained recognition for its commitment to quality and taste, winning a Gold Medal at the 2020 Great American Beer Festival for its Aurochs Hazy IPA. Their core lineup includes six year-round offerings: Aurochs Blonde Ale, Session IPA, Amber Ale, Porter, Light Lager, and Hazy IPA. Each beer is brewed in a dedicated gluten-free facility, ensuring that all products are free from wheat, barley, and rye. This meticulous process not only guarantees safety for consumers but also emphasizes the brewery’s mission to provide great-tasting beer without compromise.
In addition to their brewing operations, Aurochs has embraced modern distribution methods by offering direct shipping within Pennsylvania and expanding to neighboring states. The brewery’s taproom invites visitors to enjoy a variety of beers on draft alongside gluten-free snacks. With a focus on community and sustainability, Aurochs Brewing Company continues to grow its customer base while maintaining its commitment to producing exceptional gluten-free craft beer for all occasions.

Aurochs Brewing Closing by End of 2024

The Announcement

Aurochs Brewing Company posted the following on social media just two hours ago:

The End of our Story
Thank you for your support of Aurochs Brewing Company through its existence. Over 10 years ago, we set out with the goal of “changing the way the world experiences gluten-free beer”. In that time we have seen that happen many times over and are extremely grateful to have been one part of that larger evolution.
Today, it is with a heavy heart that we announce that Aurochs Brewing Company will be ceasing operations by the end of the year 2024.
We are proud to have brewed great-tasting, award-winning, naturally gluten-free beers that have resonated with many of you. Through your patronage we have been able to grow our footprint and meet the needs of gluten-free beer drinkers across our region.
With the help of our amazing staff and supporters we have given this endeavor everything we have. After years of hard work, countless late or sleepless nights, navigating the challenges of a global pandemic, and the rigors of building and scaling a dedicated gluten-free brewery our founder team has run out of gas. Although the brewery continues to grow in our home market, we do not have the personal resources to go to the next level or to continue operations beyond this year.
We are eternally grateful to our customers, partners, investors, and employees (past and present) who have made this journey so special. From the moment we opened our doors 10 years ago, you have shown up consistently, supporting Aurochs and pushing our dream forward.
We plan to open our tasting room while there is still beer available. We will communicate about hours of operations and opportunities to purchase the last batches of Aurochs.
Additionally, beer will be available for shipping throughout Pennsylvania only while supplies last. Any orders placed this weekend will be shipped out on Tuesday (11/5) with tracking information.
Thank you for taking this journey with us, thank you for your passion and support.
Doug & Ryan

Tom Holland’s Non-Alcoholic Beer Launch: Celebrating Sobriety and Craftsmanship with Bero https://thebeerthrillers.com/2024/10/18/tom-hollands-non-alcoholic-beer-launch-celebrating-sobriety-and-craftsmanship-with-bero/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=tom-hollands-non-alcoholic-beer-launch-celebrating-sobriety-and-craftsmanship-with-bero Fri, 18 Oct 2024 14:49:09 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15631 Tom Holland’s Non-Alcoholic Beer Launch: Tom Holland Celebrates Two Years Sober and Craftsmanship with Bero

Tom Holland, known for his role as Spider-Man, has ventured into the non-alcoholic beer space, introducing his own line, Bero, just two years into his sobriety journey. The launch marks a significant milestone for Holland, who has embraced a sober lifestyle and now seeks to offer a high-quality alternative for those who enjoy great beer without the alcohol.

Tom Holland Launches a Non-Alcoholic Beer Two Years Into His Sobriety: “I Wanted to Create Something That Reflected My Lifestyle and Values” (photo courtesy of Tom Holland and Bero)

Bero: A Personal Mission for Holland

For Holland, Bero is more than just a brand; it’s deeply personal. Reflecting on his sobriety journey, Holland shared, “Bero is a reflection of my lifestyle and values. After two years of being sober, I wanted to create something that not only resonated with people on a similar path but also spoke to those who appreciate quality and craftsmanship. Bero offers the full experience of a great beer, without asking you to compromise.”

The name “Bero” is playful yet symbolic, encapsulating Holland’s journey while remaining accessible to everyone—whether sober or not. Holland’s passion for quality, authenticity, and craftsmanship shines through in his new endeavor.

A Taste of Holland’s Roots: Bero’s Unique Varieties

Bero’s initial lineup features three unique brews, each inspired by Holland’s personal experiences and upbringing in the UK:

  • Kingston Golden Pils: A refreshing take on the European Pilsner, named after Holland’s hometown of Kingston. This golden brew is crisp, smooth, and crafted to perfection.
  • Edge Hill Hazy IPA: Paying homage to Holland’s primary school, this New England-style Hazy IPA is packed with citrus-forward hops, delivering a flavorful and aromatic experience.
  • Noon Wheat: A tribute to Holland’s beloved schnauzer, Noon, this wheat beer offers a light, smooth, and subtly fruity profile, perfect for easy drinking.

Each of these brews is designed to cater to a variety of tastes, whether you’re a pilsner lover, IPA fan, or wheat beer enthusiast. Holland’s goal is to provide an exceptional drinking experience without the alcohol.

Sobriety and Bero: A Milestone in Holland’s Journey

Holland has been candid about his sobriety journey, which began with a simple alcohol detox during Dry January. Initially meant to be a one-month cleanse, the challenge made him realize the impact alcohol had on his life.

“I couldn’t stop thinking about having a drink,” Holland shared during a conversation with Jay Shetty on his podcast. “It was all-consuming, and that really scared me. I knew I had to make a change.”

What started as a month-long experiment turned into two, and then three. Now, Holland has been alcohol-free for over two years, and Bero serves as a celebration of his journey—allowing fans and beer enthusiasts to join him in this milestone, regardless of their relationship with alcohol.

Craftsmanship and Accessibility: Bero for Everyone

Bero is designed to appeal to a broad audience, whether you’re sober or just seeking a delicious non-alcoholic option. Holland emphasizes that Bero is not exclusively for those on a sobriety journey but for anyone who values craftsmanship and quality.

“We’ve worked hard to create a product that delivers the full experience of enjoying a well-made beer,” Holland explained. “With Bero, there’s no compromise—just great taste and the freedom to live life to the fullest.”

Cellar Works Brewing Has Announced Their Upcoming Closure (photo courtesy of Cellar Works Brewing)

Cellar Works Brewing Announces Closure On 10.26

Unfortunately more bad news in the brewing industry and the brewing world, and specifically for Cellar Works Brewing. Cellar Works Brewing has announced that they will be closing – completely – on October 26th. They announced the closing of Cooper Station back in January of 2023 (January 24th, 2023). Yesterday on social media, Cellar Works Brewing announced the difficult decision. They announced that unfortunately, with heavy hearts, they had to make the extremely difficult decision to close, and they announced that the last day of service would be the 26th of October. (We just announced on Monday that Englewood Brewing will be ceasing their restaurant operations for the remainder of 2024; whilst still continuing to brew, and to host events and to use their coffee shop.)

Cellar Works Brewing is located at 110 S Pike Rd #205, Sarver, PA 16055. Cellar Works Brewing was open, with locations in Verona, Saxonburg, and Sarver; collectively for seven and a half years.

Announcement

Cellar Works Brewing posted yesterday (10.15.24) this announcement via social media:

In a year full of difficult announcements, this one is the hardest. With extremely heavy hearts, we’re announcing the closure of Cellar Works Brewing. Our final service will be Saturday October 26.
Reflecting on the past 7 and a half years, we have a lot to be proud of. We’ve made a lot of great beers – some even won very prestigious awards. Each iteration of our kitchen has knocked our socks off with incredible dishes. One thing we’re particularly proud of is our relationship with the community. Sarver and Saxonburg welcomed us and we did what we could to give back. We will treasure the many friendships we’ve made, especially those with our Cellar Society members past and present whose support kept us going during the very difficult pandemic years.
After the pandemic, we could never really regain the traction we had in 2019 and our attempts to expand were poorly timed to say the least. It’s impossible for anyone to understand how much we’ve sacrificed to make CWBCo exist. However, there comes a time when we have to stop sacrificing and start to focus on ourselves. Therein lies the silver lining. We now have an opportunity to step away from the stresses of operating a business to have more time to focus on our families.
Someone once told me that its obvious which people open a brewery because they think they’ll get rich and which ones open a brewery because they’re passionate about beer. My only hope is that our passion for beer was obvious.
Stay tuned for upcoming events, announcements, and discounts. We hope you all stop out over the next couple of weeks and buy us out of beer. Cellar Society, watch for a final party announcement.

We are working on a massive project here at The Beer Thrillers. We are creating a map of all of the breweries across the United States. State by state we are adding maps of all of the different states with every brewery in each state. (We will eventually get to the US Territories, as well as the Canadian Provinces, and possibly more countries; as well as doing some fun maps like a map of all the breweries we’ve been to, and other fun maps.) You can find the brewery maps here:

We are also working on a project of creating printable and downloadable PDFs and resources to be able to check and keep track of all of the breweries you’ve been to. So stay tuned for that project once we are finished with the Brewery Maps of the US States.
