Species X Beer Project Opening in Columbus

Species X Beer Project to Open Soon in Columbus, Ohio

Long time coming, Species X Beer Project is soon due to open in Columbus, Ohio. This highly anticipated brewery will be making their grand opening shortly.

Low key to a default, they announced on January 12th they would be making their grand opening in the next few weeks, that their just finalizing details. Aslin Beer Company picked up from there and saying it would be this upcoming weekend or so.

The Species X Beer Project website – Species X Beer Project Official Website – has their taproom listed at 408 N Front St. Columbus, OH 43215. And has this to say about their taproom:

Our spacious taproom boasts four expansive garage doors that, on nice days, open up to our outdoor patio. From the indoor section, patrons can observe our production process and equipment offering a behind-the-scenes look into our operations. We offer a variety of seating options, from comfortable bar stools to table seating, both inside and on the patio.

On nice days, our rooftop patio provides an awesome view of the Columbus skyline.

  • Monday and Tuesday: Closed
  • Wednesday and Thursday: 3PM – 9PM
  • Friday: 3PM – 10PM
  • Saturday: 11AM – 10PM
  • Sunday: 11AM – 8PM

The taproom page also lists information about beer, non – alcoholic drinks, food, and information on pets and parking.

Species X Beer Project collaboration with Prototype Brewery and Meadery

I first encountered Species X Beer Project at the Prototype Invitational back in April 2022. They were using syringes to add hop juice directly into the IPA(s) they brought to the brewfest, for a very unique and interesting twist on beers. Certainly a “mad scientist” type of vibe from them and their brewing philosophy and beers in general.

Welcome to Species X Beer Project.

In addition to being a brewery, Species X Beer Project is a continuous research endeavor seeking the next groundbreaking species for brewing beer, through both computational and biological means.

The hypothetical and theoretical “Silicon” species will originate from artificial intelligence and machine learning. Each unique model will generate unique and one-of-a-kind beer recipes, with varying degrees of guidelines and constraints based on anticipated beer recipe outcomes.

The biological species, dubbed the “Carbon” species, will either be novel or of forgotten origins, relative to humans. Methods for acquiring these species include (but are not limited to) hybridization, genetic engineering, mutagenesis, novel capture, and spore germination.

We are brewing beer with species of tomorrow.

Founded by former Aslin brewer Beau Warren, Species X is experimenting with AI, data modeling, wild spore fermentation, wild-caught yeast fermentation, genetic engineering and more to bring truly novel, category-defining innovation back to brewing while making super delicious beer. Got friends in Columbus? They can follow Species X Beer Project for up to the minute updates on the opening or swing by 406 N 6th St this weekend to check it out.
