Berg Brewing is all set to open in Chambersburg, PA. They just posted a few hours ago at 6:25 AM about ‘having all their t’s crossed’ and ready to go. They will be located in Chambersburg Pennsylvania; alongside GearHouse Brewing, TBC Brewing, and Maxie’s Brewhouse.

Brink Brewing Co. Expands Production and Patio Space in Cincinnati’s College Hill

Brink Brewing Co., an award-winning Cincinnati craft brewery, is nearing completion of a significant expansion at its College Hill location. The project includes a new production space, a dedicated canning line, a barrel-aging room, and a larger patio, with construction expected to wrap up this summer.

Located at 5905 Hamilton Ave., Brink Brewing is expanding into the adjacent building at 5909 Hamilton Ave., adding an additional 2,400 square feet to its current 3,200-square-foot space. This expansion will enable the brewery to significantly boost its production capacity and packaging capabilities.

Brink initially considered expanding outside College Hill, but after discussions with the College Hill Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation (CHCURC), they decided to keep the investment local. According to Andrew McCleese, founder and director of operations, “We explored opening a second location, but the costs were high. Instead, we opted to grow right here in College Hill.”

The brewery officially purchased the adjacent building in September 2023, and construction began shortly after. The $300,000 project includes a $180,000 investment in new equipment like a canning labeler, palletizer, walk-in cooler, and pallet stacker. The expansion is expected to allow Brink to produce 85% of its beer in-house, up from just 30% in previous years.

Production Boost and Future Plans

In 2023, Brink Brewing produced 1,200 barrels of beer, ranking as the 18th-largest brewery in the Cincinnati area. With the new canning line and additional space, the brewery plans to produce up to 900 barrels in-house, continuing its relationship with Impact Brewing for contract brewing of its flagship IPA and core brands.

“We’re leaving room to add more tanks in the future if needed,” said McCleese. “This expansion gives us flexibility to grow our production and canning operations as demand increases.”

Increased Distribution and Visibility

Thanks to a new partnership with Heidelberg Distributing, Brink Brewing has significantly expanded its brand presence. The brewery’s products can now be found in Great American Ball Park and at major events like Taste of Cincinnati, further boosting its visibility in the region.

Brink has also seen success in retail, securing placements in 72 Kroger stores by 2021, alongside multiple awards, including three consecutive Great American Beer Festival gold medals for its Moozie milk stout. The brewery has been recognized as the Best Very Small Brewery in the United States two years in a row.

Expanded Patio and Community Growth

Brink’s expansion isn’t just about production. Its patio space is doubling in size to 3,000 square feet, providing a more inviting space for guests. This upgrade is part of a collaboration with CHCURC and Cincinnati’s outdoor improvement program.

“We were one of the first businesses to invest in College Hill when there wasn’t much happening here,” said McCleese. “It’s been incredible to grow alongside the neighborhood.”

Brink Brewing Co. opened its doors in 2017, founded by Jack Duncan, Mark Landers, and Kelly Montgomery, who turned a homebrewing hobby into an award-winning brewery. McCleese, a long-time friend, joined early on, helping the brewery maintain its focus on small-batch, organic growth.

As first reported a couple months back (Aldus Brewing to Open a Taproom in Downtown Hanover) Aldus Brewng is getting a second location – a taproom in Downtown Hanover, at the Dolphin & Anchor Pub.

They just announced (just under an hour ago) that they have an official grand opening date set for their downtown Hanover tap room.

(Drum roll please) ….and that date is set for: Friday – February 2nd, 2024. Groundhog’s Day. So perhaps that means we’ll relive over and over and over and over the grand opening of their tap room!

The brewery made their announcement on social media and elsewhere recently that they were going to be expanding to a second location. They announced that their second location will be in what was the former Great American Grill.

Tranquility Brewing Company opened about a year ago at 780 Falcon Circle in Warminster, PA. The brewery is located within The Fuge – a former Centrifuge Training Facility ran by NASA for their astronauts training.

The former Great American Grill has been closed for nearly 20 years. Tranquility Brewing Company wants to turn it into a restaurant (and obviously brewery). They are hoping to have their new location up and running by late 2024.

Sworn Brewing’s September Opening: Celebrating the Mechanicsburg Community

Pennsylvania’s craft beer scene continues to flourish with the upcoming opening of a new brewery in Mechanicsburg, PA. Sworn Brewing is slated to open its doors at 5222 E Trindle Road on Thursday, September 7th.

We spoke with Jesse Mills, the owner and head brewer of Sworn Brewing, to learn more about this exciting new venture. Mills has been passionate about craft beer since the early 2000s, a time when Pennsylvania had fewer than 80 operational breweries. Reflecting on those days, Mills recalled, “Troegs and Appalachian Brewing were really the only breweries around at the time.”

Mills’ journey into the world of craft beer deepened over the years, leading him to start homebrewing in 2010 after purchasing his first homebrew kit. His passion eventually led him to work for commercial breweries and inspired the idea of opening his own brewery. “Most breweries are opened by homebrewers, so let’s give it a try,” Mills explained.

Sworn Brewing will occupy an 1,800 square foot space that previously housed a deli and catering business. The brewery will offer both indoor and outdoor seating, with walk-up/bar service. Food trucks will enhance the dining experience on weekends, while in-house snacks like pretzels and chips will be available daily. In addition to eight taps of draft beer, Sworn plans to offer cider and wine, with future plans to include PA spirits.

Designed to operate on a small scale, Sworn Brewing will launch with a 1-barrel brewhouse. Mills aims to replicate what he’s been doing at home for the past 13 years, turning beers frequently on a small scale to maintain a strong focus on high-quality, full-flavored beer. He appreciates the charm of a small-town brewery and has no intentions of scaling up significantly.

Sworn Brewing will offer a diverse selection of beers, with a focus on fruited sours, New England IPAs, and robust stouts. Mills, a fan of continental-style pilsners, is excited to showcase a variety of styles. The brewery’s open brewing system will allow guests to see how the beer is made while enjoying the taproom.

Initially, Sworn Brewing will operate under limited hours from Thursday to Sunday, primarily in the evenings. The brewery will be a family-run business, with most taproom staff being family members, contributing to a welcoming and community-focused atmosphere. “Any time we get a chance to use a product from a local, small business, we will,” Mills said, emphasizing their commitment to supporting local businesses.

The name “Sworn” reflects Mills’ dedication to his community and customers. “A SWORN oath to produce a product with the highest quality ingredients we can provide. The beer and customer are going to get the respect they deserve,” he affirmed.

A New Canning Line and More Parking Coming to Troegs Brewery

Tröegs Independent Brewing, a leader in Pennsylvania’s craft beer scene, has unveiled ambitious plans to expand its Hershey-based brewery, continuing the brand’s legacy of growth and innovation. The brewery recently broke ground on a 15,000-square-foot addition, located at the northwest corner of the facility, that will house a cutting-edge canning line.

According to co-founder Chris Trogner, the new canning line is set to transform their production capabilities. “The addition will allow us to separate bottling from canning, significantly boosting the speed, capacity, and quality of our canned beer,” says Trogner. “Plus, we’ll have the flexibility to introduce new pack types.”

The canning line is scheduled for completion this fall, signaling the brewery’s commitment to meet growing demand for its canned products.

In addition to the canning line, Tröegs is also expanding its parking capacity. By midsummer, the brewery will add 100 new parking spaces, providing easier access for visitors. Temporary fencing may impact parking availability during construction, but the improvements promise a better experience for guests in the long term.

John Trogner, co-founder of Tröegs, notes that expansion has always been part of their DNA. “We’ve been under construction for 25 years,” says Trogner. “Our goal is continuous improvement. We’re always planning for the future—whether it’s one year, five years, or 20 years ahead—to make Tröegs the best it can be.”
