After nearly five years serving the Camp Hill community, The Grateful Goat Brewing Company has announced it will be closing its doors. The brewery shared the news via Instagram earlier this week, revealing that it has accepted an offer to sell both the business and its real estate.

Their final day of service will be Sunday, October 12th, 2025.

“After nearly a half decade as part of the Camp Hill community, we’ve accepted an offer to sell the Grateful Goat and its real estate. It’s a great move for us, and an opportunity we simply could not pass up,” the post read.

“Our last day of service will be Sunday, October 12th. After that, the Goat will make way for a brand-new restaurant joining the neighborhood soon.”

The announcement took many local beer fans by surprise, as The Grateful Goat had become a comfortable fixture in the West Shore’s growing food and beverage scene. Known for its combination of approachable house beers, elevated pub fare, and warm hospitality, the Goat quickly built a loyal following since first opening in 2020.

Grateful Goat’s sign and announcement of last call

A Fixture in Camp Hill’s Evolving Scene

When The Grateful Goat opened its doors on Market Street, it joined a wave of small breweries and restaurants breathing new life into Camp Hill’s downtown corridor. The Goat’s combination of craft beer and gastropub-style cuisine helped bridge the gap between the area’s traditional dining spots and the new generation of independent eateries.

From juicy burgers to inventive flatbreads and rotating taps of house brews, The Goat carved out a niche as a local go-to for relaxed nights out, date nights, and happy hours with friends. Their beer list typically included a mix of crowd-pleasers—IPAs, lagers, and seasonals—along with occasional experimental releases.

A Strong Community Presence

Beyond beer, The Grateful Goat’s charm came from its community focus. The staff cultivated a friendly, welcoming environment—often calling regulars “Goat friends.” The brewery hosted events, live music, and themed nights, and was frequently cited by patrons for its personal, down-to-earth vibe.

Their closing post reflected this gratitude:

“We’re grateful for everyone who’s supported us all these years. See you this week for one last round at the Goat!”

The team encouraged guests to stop by during the final week of operation to use gift cards, enjoy favorite menu items, and say goodbye to the space that’s served as a local gathering spot for nearly half a decade.

What’s Next for the Location

While the Grateful Goat team didn’t specify what’s coming next, they did note that a “brand-new restaurant [will be] joining the neighborhood soon.” The sale appears to include both the business and the property itself, signaling that the incoming concept could be a full-scale reimagining of the space rather than a continuation of the current brand.

The news continues a trend seen throughout 2024 and 2025 of small, independently owned Pennsylvania breweries making strategic exits, often due to real estate opportunities or shifting post-pandemic economics. In several cases, the underlying property value or offers from restaurant groups have made selling an attractive option.

The Broader Picture: Changing Tides for Small Breweries

The closure of The Grateful Goat reflects an ongoing reshaping of Pennsylvania’s craft beer landscape. Many small brewpubs and breweries that opened in the late 2010s or early pandemic years are now facing increased competition, rising costs, and challenges in maintaining steady foot traffic amid changing consumer habits.

Still, the local craft beer community remains resilient—Camp Hill, Mechanicsburg, and Harrisburg continue to be home to thriving breweries like Ever Grain Brewing Co., Boneshire Brew Works, Al’s of Hampden / Pizza Boy Brewing, and others.

Even as The Grateful Goat prepares to close, the region’s love for local craft beer remains strong—and many of its fans will no doubt raise a glass in honor of what the Goat brought to the scene.

Final Call: One Last Round at the Goat

With their final day set for Sunday, October 12th, fans have just a few days left to stop in for one last pint, meal, or toast to the team that brought the Goat to life.

Whether you’re revisiting an old favorite beer, trying one last appetizer, or simply stopping by to say thank you, this final weekend offers a chance to celebrate what The Grateful Goat represented—good beer, good food, and good company.

The Beer Thrillers will continue to cover updates on what’s next for the location once more details become available.

Announcement

Here is their full announcement from their Instagram page:

Hey Goat friends,

We’ve got some exciting news. After nearly a half decade as part of the Camp Hill community, we’ve accepted an offer to sell the Grateful Goat and its real estate. It’s a great move for us, and an opportunity we simply could not pass up.

❗Our last day of service will be Sunday, October 12th.❗ After that, the Goat will make way for a brand-new restaurant joining the neighborhood soon.

If you have gift cards or coupons, now’s the time to use them! It’s also your chance to stop by for one last happy hour, enjoy your favorite bites, and send the Goat off in style. 🍻

We’re grateful for everyone who’s supported us all these years. See you this week for one last round at the Goat!

— The Grateful Goat Team ❤️ 🐐

Something Wicked Brewing Announces Closing https://thebeerthrillers.com/2025/08/04/something-wicked-brewing-announces-closing/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=something-wicked-brewing-announces-closing Mon, 04 Aug 2025 20:28:48 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=16530 Something Wicked Brewing Announces Closing

Sadly, the Hanover brewery staple – Something Wicked Brewing has announced today via social media that they will be closing on September 6th, 2025. Located at 34 Broadway, Hanover, PA 17331, the craft brewery will be closing its doors for the last time on the 6th of September. A nod to Ray Bradbury (Something Wicked This Way Comes) Something Wicked Brewing has been a staple of Hanover for 10 years; opening their doors in June of 2015, with their soft opening in May of 2015.

Something Wicked Brewery

A Bittersweet Farewell from Something Wicked Brewing Co.

The following is Something Wicked Brewing Company’s announcement via Facebook:

After much reflection and with incredibly heavy hearts, we must share the news that Something Wicked Brewing Co. will be closing its doors. Our final pints will be poured on September 6th.
Just a few months ago, we proudly celebrated 10 incredible years of brewing craft beer, building friendships, and being part of the vibrant heartbeat of downtown Hanover. Over the past decade, we’ve had the honor of watching strangers become friends, and friends become family. We’ve shared laughter and tears, stories and songs, first dates and farewells — each moment leaving its mark on our hearts.
We had hoped to toast another ten years with you, but as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end.
To our patrons and friends, our Sinners & Saints — thank you. You are the soul of Something Wicked. We wish we could name every one of you, but two very special people deserve a shout-out: Billy Miller and Spencer Shirk, thank you for being not just loyal patrons, but unwavering friends. You’ve been there for every event — from the wildest Bloody Mary Brunches to quiet weekday pours — and we are endlessly grateful.
To our amazing staff, thank you for pouring your hearts into every shift, every pint, every conversation. You made this place what it is. Special thanks to:
– Jon Sanders, for being the face of Something Wicked for so many years.
– Our talented brewers Matt Tharp, Jacob Auer, Bry Harvey, Wes Phebus, Adam Grim, and Josh Kinard, who crafted through the years the beers you’ve come to love.
Let’s Celebrate Together
As we begin winding down over the next five weeks, we invite you to celebrate “The Wicked Dog Days Pawlooza” with us this coming Saturday and join us for the final epic moments still to come. Let’s share more stories, more laughter, and raise a few more pints — together.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Hanover — for welcoming us, supporting us, and choosing us again and again. It has been our deepest honor to serve this community.
Here’s to the memories, the friendships, and the wickedly good times.
Cheers to you all, and thanks for the memories — The Something Wicked Family
🍺❤️
Something Wicked Brewing Company has been in business for 10 years in Hanover, and have truly helped make the local community the community that it is. Ming and I got to stop there in 2020 and loved the brewery, the food, and the location. They will be truly missed, not just in the local community, but in the greater craft beer community as a whole.

Emlenton Brew Haus Closes https://thebeerthrillers.com/2024/11/20/emlenton-brew-haus-closes/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=emlenton-brew-haus-closes Wed, 20 Nov 2024 23:30:21 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15732 Emlenton Brew Haus Closes: A Final Cheers to a Beloved Local Spot

Today, craft beer lovers in Western Pennsylvania were met with disappointing news: Emlenton Brew Haus has closed its doors permanently. In a heartfelt announcement on Facebook, the owners expressed their gratitude to the community, former staff, and loyal patrons who supported the Brew Haus over its 3 ½-year journey.

Emlenton Brew Haus’s social media post and announcement

A Bittersweet Farewell

“We are sad to announce that after 3 ½ years, the Emlenton Brew Haus will be closing effective immediately,” the post began. “The Brew Haus Owners, management, and staff would like to thank the community, and all of the prior staff for all the help and support during this adventure.”

The message struck a chord with customers, many of whom took to social media to share their memories and express their sadness.

“I am very sorry to hear this. Great food, beer, and hospitality. I would drive from Pittsburgh just to have your beers,” wrote Martin Smith. “This is just too bad, and Emlenton needs to try and develop the area more for tourists, like boat, kayak docks, etc.”

“Totally bummed to hear this,” commented Jim Ernst. “I loved stopping in for a beer or a bite to eat during my travels across PA.”

These heartfelt responses highlight how much the Brew Haus meant to locals and visitors alike.

Emlenton Brew Haus was located at 610 Main St, Emlenton, PA 16373.

A Hub of Craft Beer and Community

Since opening its doors, the Emlenton Brew Haus made a name for itself with its commitment to craft beer, locally sourced food, and family-friendly fun. Owned by the Garis and Page family, the brewery offered more than just beer—it provided unique experiences like refurbished duck-pin bowling lanes, shuffleboard, and a pool table. It was a space where the community could come together over shared meals and drinks.

The food, helmed by Chef Julie Terwilliger, a graduate of the Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts, featured fresh, Pennsylvania-sourced ingredients. Customers loved not only the brews but also the thought and care poured into every menu item. From the best old fashioneds in the state to beers crafted with local flair, the Brew Haus left an indelible mark on those who visited.

Why Did Emlenton Brew Haus Close?

While the owners haven’t elaborated on the reasons for the closure, location and accessibility may have played a role. Emlenton, a small town along the Allegheny River, boasts natural beauty and charm but can be challenging to reach for those outside the immediate area.

“This was a very cool place,” reflected Torie Neal. “It was just a little out of our driving range for frequent visits. My siblings and I all came right when it opened and really enjoyed the duck-pin bowling.”

A Loss for Emlenton

The closure is a poignant reminder of how difficult it can be for small businesses, even beloved ones, to thrive. The Brew Haus wasn’t just a business—it was a part of the Emlenton community.

“So sorry, guys,” wrote Meg Cratty Dreher. “Your addition to the town was a great, costly venture. It didn’t go unnoticed how much time and effort you put forth in trying to help better our town.”

As Emlenton Brew Haus closes its doors, locals and visitors alike are left with memories of good times, great beer, and the unique experiences it offered. The future of the building remains uncertain, but its impact on the town and the people who frequented it won’t soon be forgotten.

A Final Toast

While it’s sad to see the Brew Haus go, it’s important to celebrate what it brought to Emlenton—a vibrant space for craft beer enthusiasts, families, and friends to gather. To the Garis and Page family and everyone who made Emlenton Brew Haus what it was: thank you for the memories, the beer, and the joy you brought to the community.
