Mount Gretna Craft Brewery in Palmyra Announces Closing
Mount Gretna Craft Brewery is Closing
Just moments ago Mount Gretna Craft Brewery made a Facebook announcement and post announcing their immediate closure. Today, February 16th 2023, right at noon on the dot, they posted the above picture announcement that they were closing. This comes as a bit of a shock to myself and several others as they seemed to be doing very well at their location and been a staple of the area and a new mainstay in the beer scene of that area.
They had undergone some changes in recent history taking on Brad Moyer as their new head brewer after he left Liquid Noise Brewing.
(See: A Word From Brad Moyer of Liquid Noise Brewing.)
(Also: Liquid Noise Brewing Company Announces The Show is Ending.)
The location is located at the corner of 322 and 117 at the end of Palmyra before you start heading further into Lebanon county.
It was the first brewery in Palmyra. Snitz Creek Brewing temporarily had a brewery open near the “In the Net” sports facility but that went out as well. Howling Henry’s Brewing is now located in the Klick Lewis Arena. (They were originally located in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania: Grand Opening of Howling Henry’s Brewery in Hummelstown.)
The Announcement
Their Facebook announcement reads:
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as a neighborhood gathering place for a community.
The past few years has been challenging for all of us. We have worked hard to navigate ups, downs, and uncertainties — balancing the challenging needs of our community, employees, business relationships, and family.
It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to close Mount Gretna Craft Brewery as of Thursday, February 16th 2023.
Thank you for choosing us to share in your celebrations, milestones, and more — we are forever grateful.

Mount Gretna Craft Brewery
I do have to say this comes as a bit of a shock for me and a bit of a surprise. Obviously I’m not privy to their financial status or how things are doing behind the scenes, but from an outward perspective the place looked to be doing well. The food was always good whenever I visited, I’ve enjoyed the beers, and the beers even got better once Brad Moyer took over as head brewer. They seemed to be consistently brewing, and consistently doing new things and events, and making social media posts and going to events.
They were a very community forward brewery as well, doing lots of events in person (before COVID and after it became safe again), as well as a lot of stuff for different groups and places like their Ukraine beer (the anti – Putin beer), as well as much more. They were typically a staple at brewfests like the Mount Hope Renaissance Faire brewfest, Ffej of July, and much more.
I personally always had a good time when visiting. My ex wife’s family is from the back end of Palmyra / Campbelltown area, and I would stop occasionally at the brewery afterwards.

As per Untappd, Mount Gretna Craft Brewery was a micro brewery. They are already listed as being closed, so it reset their unique beers total to 0. They have over 19,000 ratings (nearly 20,000), and have a global average rating of 3.64 as of 2.16.23.
Their Untappd description reads: Closed 2/16/2023. Hand-crafted beer inspired by a place where people share culture, art and ideas amid the lakes, trails and forest – historic Mount Gretna.
(They wasted no time in switching that over to closed business.)

Thanks For Reading
Well thank you for reading, but oof, this one kinda hits hard in the gut. Another close, nearby (within less than 15 miles of Amy and I) brewery closing its doors. As I said in the article, I’ve always enjoyed Mount Gretna Craft Brewery, and Brad Moyer is a good guy, so its a shame to see them closing doors.
We are only about a little over halfway through February and there’s been a few closings that I’ve had to write about here in Pennsylvania alone. As well as a slew of other things, like the Hemaur Family fire, the sabotage to LoveDraft’s brewery, Cox Brewing moving back to their original location, Englewood having to close and now re – opening (tomorrow). Its certainly been a turbulent two months for craft breweries.
But lets hang in there. 2023 is going to be a great year. Lets all keep our chins up. Hopefully I’ll be writing about more openings, and more expansions, and more great beer, rather than closings!
As always, I want to thank everyone for reading, and checking out the blog. It really means a lot to us. We are already smashing our records and views from last year. And only bigger and better things are coming! (We are nearly hitting our 2,500 goal on Facebook, we are currently at 2,478 followers. Just need 22 more!) We are getting a professional designer to make the blog logo, Facebook cover, and more.
Soon also kicks off The Battle of the Breweries season. I can’t wait for that! And in true, The Beer Thrillers, typical style, its gonna be bigger and bolder than last year! So be on the lookout for that.
Thank you all, and have a good rest of your day!
Cheers All!
