First Cut – Mango IPA – by Troegs Independent Brewing is releasing on Thursday, February 22nd, 2024.

First Cut – Mango IPA – Is Coming

The fan favorite First Cut IPA is coming out on Thursday – February 22nd. This year its coming out in 16 oz pounder cans for the first time ever. It will also be seeing a small local distribution footprint, ontop of being released at the Troegs Brewery in Hershey, PA.

First Cut has achieved “cult following” at this point, and there’s no reason to wonder with how delicious this beer is. First Cut IPA is always a highly anticipated release at the Troegs Brewery. First Cut marks the beginning of the hop season (though its coming out earlier and earlier each year, its coming out a little bit before the first shoots of the hops are popping up…. there is still snow on the ground in Hershey and Central PA afterall). Signaling the beginning of the hop growing season, when the first shoots start to break through the surface, and the hop farmers cut some of the early shoots (they make an excellent meal – check out our hop omelet recipe: Hop Shoot Omelet), to help facilitate the growth of the hops.

Its early spring and this is the growing season – or will be shortly – and the return of green to Central PA. So come on out to Troegs Brewery on Hersheypark Drive in Hershey, and pick up some First Cut IPA to celebrate!

First Cut IPA Notes

First Cut IPA is an American IPA, clocking in at 6.2% ABV and 45 IBU. It has a global average rating of 3.79 on Untappd (as of 2.20.24), and the description there reads: “Each spring, hop growers dust off their pruning shears and trim the first shoots, bolstering the bines for a rich growing season. First Cut – a mouthful of silky Simcoe and a touch of mango – is a nod to this ritual, without which the world would be a less hoppy place.”

You can find out more information on First Cut IPA at the Troegs website here: First Cut – Mango IPA.

Susquehanna Brewing Company to Release Revenge Of The Muffin Man https://thebeerthrillers.com/2024/02/07/susquehanna-brewing-company-to-release-revenge-of-the-muffin-man/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=susquehanna-brewing-company-to-release-revenge-of-the-muffin-man Wed, 07 Feb 2024 16:40:18 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=14307

Revenge of the Muffin Man by Susquehanna Brewing Company (SBC)

Susquehanna Brewing Company to Release Revenge Of The Muffin Man

This might win the year’s “Weirdest Name” category – at least so far – Revenge of the Muffin Man will be released by Susquehanna Brewing Company this year. Scheduled to be released on February 23rd at the Pittston, PA brewery (no word on distribution at this point), this ale “baked in” with blueberries will be bursting onto their taps starting at 12 – noon. It is scheduled to be on draft and in 16 oz (pounder) cans starting February 23rd at the brewery.

The description for the beer is as follows:

This ale will send shivers down your spine with its ghostly notes of perfected spice blends and delicious blueberries! If there was ever a time to try a new ale, it’s now! Revenge of the Muffin Man is an exciting addition to our already stacked line-up of craft beers!

Revenge of the Muffin Man will be an ale brewed with blueberries and will be baked up to a 8.5% ABV and will be cooked with 10 IBU.

I love blueberry muffins, and blueberry beers usually hit me just right (though some can be too funky), but based on the can art for this alone I want to give it a try. I’ll be checking local beer and bottle shops like Breski’s Beverage and West Connection Beer Vault to see if it pops up in there. Also might be incentive to get up and visit the brewery again.

Logyard Brewing Releasing Giggle Water

Logyard Brewing is releasing “Giggle Water” a new, RTD (Ready to Drink – cocktail style drink). This variant is a Moscow Mule style RTD. It is a malt beverage with ginger and limes, and will be about 6% ABV. They are going to be selling it in 16 oz “pounder” cans.

They are also releasing “Climb it Activist”, a hazy double IPA that will be 8.3% ABV. It also will be released in 16 oz pounder cans.

Logyard Brewing

Logyard Brewing is located in Kane, PA. You can find their brewery at: 103 N Fraley St, Kane, PA 16735. Kane is near Kinzua Bridge – the famous railroad bridge that was half destroyed by a tornado, and makes for an excellent tourist spot and hiking area. You can read up on that here: History of Kinzua Bridge.

My oldest three daughters and I got to visit Kinzua Bridge and Logyard Brewing in 2019. Lily absolutely loved the beer cheese and the nachos at the brewery. Kane is a quaint little town, and very cute, and the brewery plays up the lumberjack, logging, and tree theme to perfection.

Victory Brewing and Tastykake’ Koffee Kake Ale to be Released on December 22nd

As we had previously mentioned here on the blog – Victory Brewing Company and Tastykake Company Team Up for Koffee Kake Ale (back on October 5th) – Victory Brewing Company and Tastykake have teamed up to deliver a coffee cake infused beer – Koffee Kake Ale.

From their latest release information on it:

The 6% ale takes the delicious flavors of Tastykake’s Koffee Kake into a sweet ale with notes of pound cake & cinnamon. Victory Brewing Co. will release its Tastykake Koffee Kake Ale on Friday, December 22, at its taprooms in Downingtown, PA; Philadelphia, PA; Parkesburg, PA; and Kennett Square, PA. Join for a first taste, giveaways, and pairings from Victory and Tastykake from 11 am – 4 pm. The first 10 consumers in attendance at each of Victory’s Taprooms on the 22nd will score special and limited co-branded prize packs.

As stated above, its primary release will be on December 22nd.  Koffee Kake Ale will ship to Victory’s distribution network in mid-December 2023 and be available in 6-pack 12 oz. bottles and draft until early March 2024, while supplies last.

Brand crossovers are on the rise in craft for the unique and special value they bring to drinkers. As Victory entered the world of collaboration, it was especially important for us to select a partner whose identity, values and flavor profiles would align with ours in a way that connected with our loyal fan base.

Kelly Irvine, brand manager of Victory Brewing Company

The Koffee Kake Ale is a “classic ale” style beer thats everything but classic. Its going to come in at 6.0% ABV, and its going to have notes of cinnamon and pound cake. They will be releasing this as 12 oz bottles (no cans, and no draft).

We are thrilled for the opportunity for Tastykake to collaborate with Victory Beer on such a unique and tasty mash-up. We believe the Koffee Kake Ale brings the best of these two iconic brands together in a flavorful way for our passionate fans.

Ashley Hornsby, Tastykake brand manager

More Information on Victory Brewing Company

The following comes from Untappd. Victory Brewing Company is a regional brewery from Downingtown PA. They have 911 unique beers, and over 2.8 Million reviews, with a global average rating of 3.67 (as of 12.15.23). Their Untappd description reads: Co-founders Bill Covaleski and Ron Barchet The story of Victory Brewing Company starts on a school bus in 1973 when fifth-graders Ron Barchet and Bill Covaleski stepped aboard, on their way to a new school. The two became fast friends and remained so, even as they grew up and went to college on opposite coasts. Just months out of college, Bill’s appreciation of good beer and access to his father’s home brewing equipment inspired him to explore the hobby. That same year (1985), Bill gave Ron a home brewing kit as a Christmas gift. With that, both Bill and Ron developed their love of the craft, and a friendly rivalry grew between the two. The good-natured competition pushed Bill and Ron to become accomplished.

A Blizzard is Coming to Hershey PA

Its a bit early in the year for a blizzard to be hitting Central PA – but in Hershey, Pennsylvania – a blizzard of hops will be piling up the hops starting Monday, October 23rd, 2023 at the Troegs Independent Brewery.

Although the Blizzard of Hops IPA has been out in their Canthology 4 variety packs for a week now; Blizzard of Hops IPA will be making its yearly awaited downfall at the brewery tomorrow. Coming in bottles, cans, as well as draft in the tasting room.

Distribution

Blizzard of Hops IPA will also be distributed to all of the markets that Troegs Brewing already covers. (Some might be getting it early, reports from some are a bit over the place.)

Look for it in all of your favorite distribution centers and grocery stores.

Troegs Independent Brewery

Troegs Independent Brewing opens their brewery tomorrow at 11:30 AM and closes at 9:00 PM. You can find the Blizzard of Hops IPA in their general store as well as on draft in their tasting room at opening.

Bourbon Barrel Aged Triple Nator Releasing at Troegs Brewery https://thebeerthrillers.com/2023/09/07/bourbon-barrel-aged-triple-nator-releasing-at-troegs-brewery/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=bourbon-barrel-aged-triple-nator-releasing-at-troegs-brewery Thu, 07 Sep 2023 17:29:21 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=12385

Bourbon Barrel Aged Triple Nator (courtesy of Troegs Independent Brewing)

The Father of All Nators

So we’ve got the Troegenator, we’ve gotten the Triple Nator… and now we got the grandaddy of them all – the Bourbon Barrel Aged Triple Nator. (And don’t forget, next spring we’ll be getting the Little Nator.)

Troegs Brewing has been releasing some stellar beers recently – Oktoberfest, Hop Cyclone, and now Bourbon Barrel Aged Triple Nator – with Master of Pumpkins coming in two weeks time, as well as a Schwarzbier, a Lemon Raddler, and a Rauchbier for the Oktoberfest; and then in time for Christmas they are bringing the Cookie Stout back out, as well as Naked Elf and of course Mad Elf.

Lots of great beers coming from the fantastic brewery in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Bourbon Barrel Aged Triple Nator

The grandaddy of all the Nators – the Bourbon Barrel Aged Triple Nator is the Triple Nator (Troegenator times three) stored in bourbon barrels and aged for over a year.

Some quick stats on this beast of a beer:

ABV: 14%
IBU: N / A
Malt: Pilsner, Munich, Caramel, Chocolate, Special B
Hops: German Northern Brewer
Yeast: House Lager
Additions: Demerara Sugar, Dark Candi Syrup

From Troegs Brewers and Beer Notes website on the beer:

This is the big, malty and ageable Triple Nator with a bourbon-barrel twist. Munich malt, chocolate malt and Belgian candy sugar deliver deep toffee and complex malt notes, and months in bourbon barrels add hints of toasted coconut, vanilla and molasses. Put it in a glass or put it in your cellar. The next chapter is yours.

We taste: deep toffee, layers of complex malt, hints of toasted coconut, vanilla and molasses

Bourbon Barrel-Aged Triple Nator

Availability

The Bourbon Barrel Aged Triple Nator releases today at the brewery only. Its a part of their splinter series; so you will be able to get it at the bar – in a cork and caged bottle – or from the general store (in cork and caged bottles only). 13.20$ per bottle (or cheaper in a 4 pack). Unknown how long this one will last, so you certainly won’t want to miss out on it.

RAR Brewing – Facebook Post

I know Amy is very excited for this release. We are big RAR Brewing fans and she is an even bigger Muppets fan. So this is perfect. She is beyond ecstatic and cannot wait for these.

The Muppets

The following comes from Wikipedia:

The Muppets are an American ensemble cast of puppet characters known for an absurdist, burlesque, and self-referential style of varietysketch comedy. Created by Jim Henson in 1955, they are the focus of a media franchise that encompasses television, film, music, and other media associated with the characters. Originally owned by the Jim Henson Company for nearly five decades, the franchise was purchased by the Walt Disney Company in 2004.

The Muppets originated in the short-form television series Sam and Friends, which aired on WRC-TV and in syndication from 1955 to 1961. Following appearances on late-night talk shows and in advertising during the 1960s, the Muppets began appearing on the PBS children’s television program Sesame Street (1969–present) during their formative years and attained celebrity status and international recognition through The Muppet Show (1976–1981), their flagship sketch comedy television series that received four Primetime Emmy Award wins and 21 nominations during its five-year run.

During the 1970s and 1980s, the Muppets diversified into theatrical films, including The Muppet Movie (1979); The Great Muppet Caper (1981); and The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984). Disney began involvement with them in the late 1980s, during which Henson entered negotiations to sell The Jim Henson Company.

The Muppets continued their media presence on television with The Jim Henson Hour (1989) and Muppets Tonight (1996–98), both of which were similar in format to The Muppet Show, as well as the animated spinoff Muppet Babies (1984–91); three theatrical films: The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992), Muppet Treasure Island (1996) and Muppets from Space (1999); and the television film It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie (2002).

Disney acquired the Muppets from the Henson family in February 2004.[1][2][3] Under Disney, subsequent projects included the television film The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz (2005), the television special A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa (2008), two theatrical films: The Muppets (2011) and Muppets Most Wanted (2014), a primetime series (2015–2016),[4][5][6][7][8] a reboot of Muppet Babies (2018–2022), the streaming television series Muppets Now (2020), the Halloween special Muppets Haunted Mansion (2021), and the streaming television series The Muppets Mayhem (2023).

Throughout their nearly seven-decade existence, the Muppets have been regarded as a staple of the entertainment industry and popular culture in the United States and English-speaking areas around the world. They have been recognized by various cultural institutions and organizations, including the American Film Institute, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Library of Congress, and both Academies of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and Television Arts and Sciences.
