Also, as always, beer and Instagram tends to lean towards a lot of “posting for the algorithm” of women in revealing outfits, so be forewarned about that as well.

Sometimes, companies just can’t help themselves. Not everything needs to be political – nor should it be. And this is a prime example. Sticker Mule has nothing to do with politics and has no invested interest outside of their ownership in political issues and parties. The only reason I am even making this post is because of the reaction the brewing industry is having to their post, and then to people like Don’tDrinkBeers post as well.

So many brewers have shared this incredible unforced self own from @stickermule and it’s almost amazing marketing genius. Instead of just saying nothing, you can go partisan, alienate people, use an ass ass in nation attempt to shill a four dollar t shirt and then shame your customers. Flawless no notes.

And this pretty much sums it up. (In that sardonic, completely sarcastic way that Alex has.)

When Sticker Mule could have been quiet, they instead decided to step up and post something that didn’t need posted or said, and in turn, alienated numerous breweries (as well as other clients) that use them. There’s already a shortlist that is growing quickly of breweries that have announced they are canceling their use of Sticker Mule — primarily just due to this post.

Sometimes….. its best just to be quiet.

George Carlin was absolutely one of my favorite comedians. Loved his stand up specials, his books, his CDs, his way of delivering and talking and just his cadence and his tone and topics. He had a relevance and a viewpoint of the world that was both cynical as well as relatable. “A thinking man’s comic” – he was intelligent, and used it to make comedy. This wasn’t stupid comedy (Git R Done) or the like, this was linguistic, philosophic, political, sociological approaches to things with humor as the baseline. He ushered in a wave of “philosopher comedians” in the sense that, this is what Socrates could have been like if he was alive in the 1980s or 1990s.

George Denis Patrick Carlin (May 12, 1937 – June 22, 2008) was an American stand-up comedian, actor, author, and social critic. Regarded as one of the most important and influential stand-up comedians of all time, he was dubbed “the dean of counterculture comedians”. He was known for his dark comedy and reflections on politics, the English language, psychology, religion, and taboo subjects.

Carlin was a frequent performer and guest host on The Tonight Show during the three-decade Johnny Carson era and hosted the first episode of Saturday Night Live in 1975. The first of Carlin’s 14 stand-up comedy specials for HBO was filmed in 1977, broadcast as George Carlin at USC. From the late 1980s onwards, his routines focused on sociocultural criticism of American society. He often commented on American political issues and satirized American culture. His “seven dirty words” routine was central to the 1978 United States Supreme Court case F.C.C. v. Pacifica Foundation, in which a 5–4 decision affirmed the government’s power to censor indecent material on public airwaves.

Carlin released his first solo album, Take-Offs and Put-Ons, in 1966. He went on to receive five Grammy Awards for Best Comedy Album, winning for FM & AM (1972), Jammin’ in New York (1992), Brain Droppings (2001), Napalm & Silly Putty (2002), and It’s Bad for Ya (2008). The latter was his final comedy special, which was filmed less than four months before his death from cardiac failure.

Carlin co-created and starred in the Fox sitcom The George Carlin Show (1994–1995). He is also known for his film performances in Car Wash (1976), Outrageous Fortune (1987), Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989), Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey (1991), The Prince of Tides (1991), Dogma (1999), Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001), Scary Movie 3 (2003), and Jersey Girl (2004). He also had voice roles as Zugor in Tarzan II, Fillmore in Cars (2006), and as Mr. Conductor on Shining Time Station, as well as narrating the American dubs of Thomas & Friends.

Carlin was posthumously awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2008. He placed second on Comedy Central‘s list of top 10 American comedians in 2004,[1] while Rolling Stone magazine ranked him second on its list of the 50 best stand-up comedians of all time in 2017, in both cases behind Richard Pryor.[2]

Political satire through rhyme, who knew. A look at the time in office of President Bush. Published during his presidency; this doesn’t cover his last year (year and a half or so) of his second term. Calvin Trillin writes about the various aspects of Bush’s presidency, his campaigns, all obviously from a certain slant, a certain bias. So you will have to go into it full well knowing if you are extremely pro-Bush this will most likely come off as bashing or as very negative of his presidency. I think it helps with accountability though and it helps to act as a reminder of a president’s legacy, of a president’s time in office, his achievements or in this case lack of achievements or issues and problems. These accounts, either through satire and humor or through purely historical lenses offer us a valuable insight into what transformed all of our lives who lived through these times.

Does the Bush Administration sound any better in rhyme? In this biting array of verse, it at least sounds funnier. Calvin Trillin employs everything from a Gilbert and Sullivan style, for describing George Bush’s rescue in the South Carolina primary by the Christian Right (“I am, when all is said and done, a Robertson Republican”), to a bilingual approach, when commenting on the President’s casual acknowledgment, after months of trying to persuade the nation otherwise, that there was never any evidence of Iraqi involvement in 9/11: “The Web may say, or maybe Lexis-Nexis / If chutzpa is a word they use in Texas.”

Trillin deals not only with George W. Bush but with the people around him—Supreme Commander Karl Rove and Condoleezza (Mushroom Cloud) Rice and Nanny Dick Cheney (“One mystery I’ve tried to / Why Cheney’s head is always at an angle . . .”) The armchair warriors Trillin refers to as the Sissy Hawk Brigade are celebrated in such poems as “Richard Whose Fault Is He?” and “A Sissy Hawk Cheer” (“All-out war is still our druthers— / Fiercely fought, and fought by others.”).

Trillin may never be poet laureate—certainly not while George W. Bush is in office—but his wit and his political insight produce what has been called “doggerel for the ages.”

If you love independent craft beer, the latest turmoil in Washington might hit closer to home than you think.

While much of the media spotlight has been on Capitol Hill’s ongoing dysfunction—think leadership battles and budget showdowns—there’s a lesser-known consequence brewing behind the scenes: the impact on small and independent breweries across the U.S.

What’s Going On in Congress?

The U.S. House of Representatives has been facing serious hurdles in passing key legislation. Ongoing political infighting and short-term budget fixes have created instability in how federal funds are allocated—and how small businesses are supported. For the brewing industry, this dysfunction can disrupt everything from tax relief to supply chain stability.

Why It Matters to Brewers

At the center of it all is the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act (CBMTRA). This critical piece of legislation made permanent a set of reduced excise tax rates for small brewers—giving them room to grow, hire, and invest in their local communities.

But the fight isn’t over. Many in the craft beer world are also looking for support on issues like supply chain relief, postal reform (to allow for more flexible beer shipping), and funding for programs that help brewers access raw materials like hops and barley.

Unfortunately, legislative gridlock means these priorities could be left hanging.

What This Means for Your Favorite Local Brewery

Without consistent action from Congress, the burden of rising costs, disrupted distribution networks, and uncertain tax policy falls squarely on the shoulders of small breweries—the same folks who bring you your favorite hazy IPA, crisp lager, or seasonal stout.

If breweries can’t plan for the future or rely on stable tax policy, that could mean fewer jobs, fewer taproom expansions, and even fewer new beer releases.

What Can You Do?

The Brewers Association is urging beer lovers and brewery owners to stay informed and stay active. That might mean contacting your representatives, sharing accurate info about the challenges breweries face, or simply supporting your local taproom with a few more pints.

Because let’s face it—craft beer doesn’t just magically appear in your pint glass. Behind every pour is a team of passionate brewers, workers, and owners who depend on a fair, functional government to help keep the industry thriving.

Yuengling Begins To Take the Market Share From Number One Selling Beer Bud Lite

Yuengling seems poised to claim a new title as “America’s number one,” building on its reputation as the nation’s oldest craft brewery—a distinction that sometimes gets overlooked online. The brewery, based in Pottsville, is reportedly encroaching on the market share of America’s best-selling beer, Bud Light.

A recent Newsweek report highlighted a shift in beer popularity in bars and restaurants, showing Bud Light falling to fourth place in terms of popularity, while Yuengling’s market share has expanded. This shift brings the Pennsylvania-based brewery closer to becoming the top beer in America. Data from Bump Williams Consulting indicates that Bud Light’s market share has increased by 8.1%, whereas Yuengling experienced a substantial 25% growth in market share over the same period, moving it up the ranks among America’s largest breweries.

This shift appears to be influenced by the negative reaction Bud Light has faced since early 2023. The brand has been losing market share following its partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney in March of that year, a move that has been widely covered and critiqued in the media.

Yuengling has somewhat capitalized on Bud Light’s misstep. Following the controversy, Yuengling took a veiled jab at Bud Light on Twitter, highlighting the latter’s connection to Anheuser-Busch, which is owned by a foreign entity. This detail has prompted some consumers to switch to Yuengling, seeking an American-made beer option.

The impact of Yuengling’s rising sales on Pennsylvania’s beer production remains uncertain. While a significant amount of Yuengling beer is produced in their Pottsville facility, the brewery has been expanding its operations beyond Pennsylvania. This includes a brewery in Florida and a new 42,000 square foot facility in the state, alongside a partnership announced in 2020 with Molson Coors to brew beer outside their traditional East Coast market. The full effect of the sales increase on the state’s beer output is still to be determined.

The decline in Bud Light’s market share since early 2023 seems to be linked to the controversy surrounding its partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney in March of the same year. This development, which has been extensively reported and discussed by numerous media outlets, does not necessitate further elaboration here.

In the midst of this controversy, Yuengling has found itself indirectly connected to Bud Light. Following the latter’s embroilment in public backlash, Yuengling seemingly took a veiled dig at Bud Light on Twitter. Part of the consumer shift away from Bud Light has been attributed to the revelation that it is produced by Anheuser-Busch, a company under foreign ownership. This detail has prompted a significant number of consumers to seek out beer produced within the United States, positioning Yuengling as a preferred alternative. By subtly highlighting its status as an American-made beer on Twitter, Yuengling reinforced its appeal to those seeking domestically produced options, leveraging the situation to underscore its American heritage.

Furthermore, as previously reported, Yuengling, recognized as America’s oldest brewery, had accused Bud Light of infringing on its trademark for Yuengling Flight, a contention that adds another layer to their interaction beyond the aforementioned tweet.

The repercussions of these developments on Pennsylvania’s beer production volumes for the year remain uncertain. Despite a significant amount of Yuengling’s production occurring at its Pottsville facility, the brewery has been broadening its operational scope well outside Pennsylvania’s borders. This expansion includes the establishment of a brewery in Florida and the recent inauguration of a substantial 42,000 square foot facility in the same state. Moreover, Yuengling announced a collaboration with Molson Coors in 2020 aimed at brewing beer beyond its traditional East Coast stronghold. The impact of Yuengling’s sales growth on the beer output within Pennsylvania is still an open question.

The Yuengling Brewery, established in 1829 by German immigrant David G. Yuengling, began its journey in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Originally named the “Eagle Brewery,” it set its roots in a small American town, focusing on crafting traditional German-style beers. The brewery’s early years were marked by resilience and growth, despite the challenges it faced, including a devastating fire in 1831 which led to the construction of a new, larger facility on Mahantongo Street, where it still stands today.
