The Battle of the Breweries (2023) – Saaz Group Stage – Results

The Battle of the Breweries (2023)

The Group Stage is Complete

The first week is done, and the group stage is complete. Before we can move on and post the new voting blocks, we have to do the results first. I break down each conference into individual posts – so there will be four conference result posts (followed by four conference voting pages). The four conferences are: CHINOOK, NUGGET, SAAZ, and WALHALLA.

I will post the winners from each group (two winners per group), their vote totals, and then at the end show their Untappd rating, and where they will place in the tournament seeding, and the knock – out round tournaments.

You can find the voting pages here:

I am going to try and get these results and voting pages up as early as possible. Please hang in there with me, getting up early and helping Amy leave for work, and then having a teething nearly four month old is slowing down the writing process a bit. So bear with me as I get these pages out. I hope to have all four results pages done by 8:30 – 9 AM (EST) and the voting pages up by 10 AM (EST). Scarlet says thank you for your patience and consideration.

Knock Out Stage

We now move onto the knock out stage of the tournament. 16 breweries from each conference advance until we get to the finals which will pit the winner of each conference in a four way battle to determine the winner of this year’s Battle of the Breweries.

After the group stage, the breweries that won in each conference get seeded 1 through 16 based on their global average Untappd rating. So for example – Cushwa Brewing Company with a 4.08 gets the Number One Seed in the Chinook Conference, and Sly Fox Brewing with a 3.55 rating gets the Number 16 Seed in the Chinook Conference.

It is single elimination just like a normal tournament. We are now into the World Cup / March Madness / Tournament style part of the Battle of the Breweries, no more multiple choice, only direct winners from here on out.

Stay tuned for the next voting page. It should be up by 10:00 AM EST today. Voting will last until Sunday March 12th at 11:59:59 PM EST.

Thanks For Reading

Thank you all for participating in the tournament. Its a lot of fun (and a lot of work) to do these tournaments, and each year it becomes more and more work (because each year I make it bigger and bigger). But I enjoy the tournament, and enjoy doing the process. This year is getting bogged down a little bit right now with my new work schedule, watching over Scarlet who is nearly four months and teething, and a host of other things. But we are going strong and getting it done. Its amazing how time consuming it is writing down the winners, looking up Untappd average ratings, etc. I think next year in advance I’ll keep an Excel spreadsheet or something to have everything a lot more planned out. (I don’t know if ya’ll have noticed by now, but I’m not the best at planning and stuff.)

Also working through some site issues. WordPress can be a bit fickle and tricky and have been having some mobile issues and other voting things pop up. So if you notice any errors, or problems, don’t hesitate to comment, e-mail, or leave feedback. It is greatly appreciated, and helps keep this running smoothly.

Ok, Scarlet is crying, gonna check on her a bit, and then get the next results page up. Thanks for participating and reading. Please be sure to like, subscribe, comment, share, and all that other good stuff that helps the blog out.

Cheers All!
