Dude Fest: A Bar In Idaho Has Declared It ‘Heterosexual Awareness Month’ And Will Be Giving Free Beers To All Straight Men
In an unexpected turn of events, a quirky bar in Idaho, which also hosts a Conspiracy Theory Trivia Night (sounds intriguing), is celebrating Male Mondays throughout June. They are offering a free draft beer to all straight men. At first, I assumed it was a Gay Bar showing appreciation for their allies, but no, it turns out to be a straightforward political statement. This is yet another reminder of the complexities we navigate in the United States today. June, as many know, is also Pride Month, yet surprisingly, nine NFL teams have not yet acknowledged it on their social media platforms.
Our societal landscape is quite peculiar. I firmly believe in the freedom to do whatever you want, with whomever you want, whenever you want. However, the obsession with monitoring logo changes to rainbow colors, organizations debating these changes, and subsequent boycotts is rather amusing to me.
But that’s a topic for another time. The focus here is on the amusing irony of a bar trying to counter Pride Month by offering free beer to straight men. If things go as expected, the bar might end up distributing a significant amount of free beer (potentially even to gay individuals who grab their free drink and leave). Moreover, the idea of “sticking it to Pride Month” by packing a bar full of men seems quite counterintuitive and rather funny.
