Boxcar Brew Works is Closing Their Doolittle Station Taproom

Unfortunately the rough year that is 2025 continues, as another brewery announces its taproom closure. On the heels of numerous large announcements, as well as Iron Hill announcing three taproom closures, Boxcar Brew Works is the next to announce their closure. There is a silver lining in this though, with the announcement of Premise Brewing emerging.

The following is the announcement that Boxcar Brew Works just posted on Facebook:

Hi Everyone,

I would like to thank you for your continued support and loyalty to Boxcar Brew Works over the years! It has been a joy to serve you all over the last 8+ years.

This is a message I have been regretting writing. It saddens me to inform you that the taproom for Boxcar Brew Works located on the Doolittle Station complex (1290Rich Hwy) will be closing permanently on Sunday 09/28/2025. With the new owners of the property, we were unable to come to a short- or long-term lease agreement. It’s with bittersweet and mixed feelings that I make this announcement. The complex and customers have been good to us over the years with us making many new friends and seeing some old friends with which we have lost touch. You never know who would be in the train car.

It’s not the end of the story for us though. Boxcar Beer will be available at a few different places until we can no longer distribute at the end of the year. Until then you can pick us up at some of our regular stops; El Gordo Burro (Du Bois, PA), Handlebar Cafe and Craft House, Saxonburg, PA, Super Sub & Six Pak (Du Bois, PA), Angry Goat (Du Bois, PA) and a few others out in the wild (Mike’s Beer Bar(Pgh), Federal Taphouse (State College). Please stop into any of them and enjoy a cold Boxcar beer.

This isn’t the end of us though! We will be opening a new brewery in downtown Du Bois soon. Located at 285 Hahne court, Du Bois, PA, Premise Brewing will be a place you want to stop and enjoy a cold one. Like and Follow us on FaceBook and Instagram to find out more about Premise Brewing. We are planning a few pop ups through the remainder of the year to let others become familiar with our new space, watch fb for more on that.

Boxcar Brew Works is currently located at 1290 Rich Hwy #300, DuBois, PA 15801. They have enjoyed over 8 years in business, and have been a lovely spot for the community and tourists alike. A unique spot with a unique appearance and vibe comparatively to other breweries. The new Premise Brewing will be located at 285 Hahne Ct, DuBois, PA 15801. Boxcar Brew Works last day of operations will be on Sunday, the 28th, of September (2025). Make sure you stop out and see them one last time!

Voodoo Brewing Announces Their North Shore Location is Closing

Voodoo Brewing announced via social media that their Pittsburgh, North Shore location is closing. Tuesday – June 3rd, 2025 will be its last day where you’ll be able to have a chance to go in and grab a beer. They opened August 27th, 2022. (Voodoo Brewing to Open Pittsburgh North Shore Location on August 27th) The Pittsburgh Pub is located on the North Shore at 337 N Shore Dr, Pittsburgh, PA 15212 (in between PNC Park and Acrisure Stadium; formerly Heinz Field).

Voodoo Pittsburgh Pub in North Shore Announces Closing

Yesterday via social media at 12:48 PM EST they announced that their brewpub on the North Shore (near the PNC Park and Southern Tier’s location) will be closing, with the “last day to grab a beer with us here” is Tuesday (June 3rd, 2025).

Their post reads:

What a blast it’s been serving the North Shore.

After almost three years, we’ve made the call to close the pub so we can double down on what we do best: brewing world-class beer and making it more available throughout Pennsylvania. This shift will allow us to improve our production, expand distribution, and support our growing network of franchise locations across the country.

We’re entering the final days of our North Shore pub and Tuesday will be the last chance to grab a beer with us at this location. We will be open tomorrow, Monday June 2nd, at 2 PM serving up $5 draft beers.

Thank you to everyone who stopped in and supported us on the North Shore and to our staff who made it happen every single day. If you’ve been meaning to visit, now’s the time.

Come raise a glass and help us close things out right. It’s not good bye, it’s I’ll see you later.

The comment section is certainly interesting, with a mixed reaction of “oh no” to “wow, only two days notice for employees” to “what a shocker, another Voodoo Brewpub closing”. One commenter in particular saying:

woohoo 30 people no longer have jobs and they gave everyone a 2 day notice during the busiest time of the year. another amazing business choice. ill never forget when they decided to lay off several people on christmas eve and when the owner TRIED to make us take down our pride flags. i hope this brand goes to shit as its clearly on its way there.

With a follow up reply to that comment:

I was hoping someone would call them out on this one! I don’t understand why companies think that’s ok! I’m sure most of the hiring for summer has already taken place so that leaves these employees in an even tougher spot!

The comments followed up with rumors of what might be going into the location – possibly a “Shorty’s”.

They later posted this, at 6:09 PM via Facebook:

We will be open tomorrow, Monday, June 2nd beginning at 2pm for $5 Draft beers. Come see the gang one last time on the North Shore before we close our doors Tuesday Night.

Just as before, mixed comments were left. Voodoo Brewing hasn’t responded to any as of my time of writing this (4:00 PM June 2nd).

One comment saying:

I do not understand why anyone would want to waste their time and money for a company that has zero respect for their employees.

For your business to give your employees no notice that they are losing their jobs is absolutely absurd and speaks volumes.

You guys fucking suck, this is a blessing in disguise for your whole crew. They deserve better

Voodoo Brewpubs Closing

Seems to be a rash of Voodoo Brewing locations closing not just in 2024, but continuing into 2025. They are a franchise based brewery, so there is numerous locations. Some as far away (from Pennsylvania) as Reno Nevada (which has closed), which you can read about here: Voodoo Brewing Closes Reno Location.

Voodoo Brewpubs That Closed in 2024 or 2025

As of June 2025, at least six Voodoo Brewing Company locations have closed during 2024 and 2025:

Fort Worth, Texas: Opened in July 2024 and closed by late October 2024 due to insufficient revenue to cover operational costs.
Fort Myers, Florida: Opened in April 2024 and closed on March 30, 2025, after facing challenges such as bridge and road closures and two hurricanes.
Meadville, Pennsylvania (Arch Street location): Closed on January 2, 2025, after over a decade of operation. The company transitioned operations to “The Compound,” their production facility.
Grand Prairie, Texas: Originally a Voodoo Brewing franchise, it rebranded as Rios Brewing Co. in early 2025, ending its affiliation with Voodoo Brewing Company.
Reno, Nevada: Opened in 2023 and closed May 2024.
North Shore, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: Opened in 2022 and closing now (June 2025).

Additionally, the Murrells Inlet, South Carolina location announced a closure in December 2024 but remained open due to community support.

They are considered a “micro brewery” by Untappd, and listed as located at Meadville, PA. They have 691 unique beers and over 571,000 (just thirty – four shy of 572,000) ratings, with a global average rating of 3.94. As I click and open up their Untappd bio, I am going to assume it was hacked (or possibly an employee about to lose their job or just lost their job that still has access to the Untappd login ability) because this is what it says:

This is Voodoo Brewery, based in Meadville, PA, that opened a location in Valrico, FL. They have horrible beer that they brew themselves and skunk beer from other breweries; the service is atrocious and the vibes are mid at best despite their budget. Do not go to this expansionist corporate hell hole

Before clicking the “read more” you are just shown: “This is Voodoo Brewery, based in Meadville, PA, that opened a location in Valrico, F”

(I am quite curious when this update and change to their Untappd bio was made.)

Four Seasons Brewing is Currently Closed

Four Seasons Brewing, out of Latrobe (greater Pittsburgh area) Pennsylvania, is currently closed. They first made a post on their social media (Facebook Post) yesterday at 2:01 PM just stating “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the pub will be closed today. We’ll see you tomorrow! ” But now today, just about an hour ago they posted again, stating that they will be closed for an unforeseen while with no reopening date planned.

Four Seasons Brewing Company and Pub Closed Due to Forces Outside of Their Control

As of right now, we don’t have a lot of information, but it seems like the closure might be for a little while. Today at 11:13 AM they posted the following to their social media accounts:

As we’re sure most of you have heard, the brewery is closed until further notice. We do not have a reopen date, but will be sure to update once we do.

This decision was completely out of our control and we hope to have everything resolved quickly. Thanks to all of you for your continuous support over the years. We’ll see you soon

It does seem that they have a reopening in mind, and that this is temporary. How long it will be temporary is unknown, but by the sounds of this post; its not permanent.

Four Seasons Brewing Company and Pub is located at 745 Lloyd Avenue Ext, Latrobe, PA, United States, Pennsylvania. Latrobe is South East of Pittsburgh but is generally considered in the “Greater Pittsburgh” area (it is listed as being a part of the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area).

Is it a license issue?

It doesn’t seem to be a brewery’s license issue. When we looked it up on the PLCB site we found this:

So it would appear that they currently have their brewer’s license up and set until the end of 2025. (Typically brewery licenses are yearly and run calendar year, January 1st to December 31st.)

White Horse Brewing LLC To Celebrate 12th Anniversary all November

Starting November 1st, White Horse Brewing LLC will be having a month long celebration for their 12th year anniversary! Congratulations to White Horse Brewing LLC for 12 years in Berlin, PA, and for quality craft beer and being a great member of their community.

I got to visit White Horse Brewing in November of 2020. (See: The Trip to Indy – Day 7 Recap: There and Back Again – A Drunk Hobbit’s Tale (WhiteHorse Brewing LLC, Gearhouse Brewing Company, Rubber Soul Brewing)

I had a fantastic time there and the beers were great, the people and employees were wonderful, and it was very nice and relaxing, and this was all in such a fraught time (November of 2020), with COVID-19 / Coronavirus stuff still going on, with the election, with everything going on. It was nice to relax, have some beers, talk to the employees, and mellow out on my trip.
