Thank You

Thank you to everyone who voted. I will go into a much bigger thank you on the Results Page, as well as looking for feedback, suggestions for next year (and all other years going forward), and in general people’s thoughts, ideas, and if they enjoyed this year’s tournament or not. I hope everyone did. I appreciate all the time and effort everyone spent on voting and participating in the tournament, and I can only hope everyone enjoyed it. This year’s edition was plagued with a few technical issues on our website, on social media, and all kinds of things, but I think we made it through, just going an extra week long due to the issues. But ending on WrestleMania Night 2, on Easter, and on 4:20 day, kind of made up for it.

I want to congratulate all of the finalists – Allusion Brewing Company (Apollo Conference winner), Collusion Tap Works (Zeus Conference Winner), Liquid Noise Brewing Company (Cascade Conference Winner), and Acclamation Brewing (Liberty Conference Winner). All four breweries did a fantastic job throughout the tournament, and are fantastic breweries period. So if you can, go out and support these great places and people!

There was a total of 256 breweries competing this year, from 13 states and the District of Columbia.  So this was certainly a hard fought win, especially since it’s their second win, for Allusion Brewing Company. Congrats to them (again)!

The Battle of the Breweries 2025: Finals Fatal Four – Way https://thebeerthrillers.com/2025/04/07/the-battle-of-the-breweries-2025-finals-fatal-four-way/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-battle-of-the-breweries-2025-finals-fatal-four-way Mon, 07 Apr 2025 13:00:17 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=16218 The Battle of the Breweries 2025: Finals Fatal Four – Way

Just before you’re about to hit play on that cassette tape of “We Are The Champions” we have one final round to go! Its the Finals Fatal Four – Way! Each of the Conference Champions will be facing off in a fatal four way to determine who is the true Battle of the Breweries (2025) Champion! And this year’s a doozy! We have two returning champions, including the Defending champion – Liquid Noise Brewing Company, as well as two first time finalists. Scroll down to the VOTE section to vote.

The Battle of the Breweries: 2025 – Championship Finals Fatal Four Way

Conference Champions

Let’s take a look at the four conference champions:

Apollo Conference

The winner, defeating Boneshire Brew Works in the Conference Championship, of the Apollo Conference is…………… Allusion Brewing Company! A former Battle of the Breweries Champion!

Cascade Conference

The winner, defeating Shy Bear Brewing – and defending their championship from 2024 – of the Cascade Conference is Liquid Noise Brewing Company!

Liberty Conference

The winner of the Liberty Conference, and making their first Finals appearance, having defeated Wolf Brewing, is Acclamation Brewing!

Zeus Conference

The winner of the Zeus Conference, defeating Dancing Gnome Brewing to advance to their first finals is Collusion Tap Works!

Finals Fatal Four Way

Much like a wrestling fatal four way match, you have four determined, grizzled, hard nosed, tough as nails; competitors facing off to determine the one true winner and champion! We take the winner of each of the conferences and pit them against each other in a four way match. (Think of WrestleMania 2000 with The Rock vs. HHH vs. Big Show vs. Mick Foley!) You can only vote for one brewery, and after two weeks – ending on 4:20, on WrestleMania XLI Night Two, ending on Easter Sunday, on Sunday April 20th, 2025; the brewery with the most votes will be the Battle of the Breweries Champion! You can vote daily for your favorite brewery. So we fully recommend 1) that you bookmark this page so you can come back to it each day, and 2) that you share this page to all of your social media platforms to help your favorite brewery out!

VOTE

(Voting has ended.)

Tournament Guidelines

We fully encourage everyone to have as much fun as possible with this tournament! Share and comment and talk about the breweries facing off. Upset your favorite brewery isn’t in the tournament? Sorry! It means one of us probably haven’t been there, or they just barely missed our cut when deciding the 256 breweries to include! Social media is a fantastic tool for sharing your brewery or your favorite brewery’s voting page. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, BlueSky, Mastodon, Tumblr, LinkTree, umm…. MySpace? LinkedIn? Pinterest? What other social medias do you cool young kids use? Whichever it is, feel free to share and bolster and brag about how your brewery is doing or encourage others to vote for your favorite brewery!

Please do keep it all in fun though. This isn’t meant to belittle or demean breweries or to create real animosity. Its a fun light hearted competition in the spirit of the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament. So with that in mind please enjoy it!

The finals round will be a two week event, unlike the previous rounds (with the exception of the one round due to technical difficulties), which were one week rounds.

The Battle of the Breweries 2025: Conference Finals https://thebeerthrillers.com/2025/03/31/the-battle-of-the-breweries-2025-conference-finals/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-battle-of-the-breweries-2025-conference-finals Mon, 31 Mar 2025 13:49:35 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=16187 The Battle of the Breweries 2025: Conference Finals

We are here! We are just about to the end. That means its the Conference Finals! The winners of these match-ups will meet up in the Finals Fatal Four-Way and be declared the 2025 Champion! There is just eight breweries left, with four match-ups (one for each conference), and the winners moving on. We have two returning champions in the mix (Allusion Brewing Company and Liquid Noise Brewing Company). All eight breweries that remain are also Pennsylvania breweries too! (Go PA Beer!) So check below to vote, and help decide who moves on to the finals! (Instead of doing an individual page for each conference, I have combined all of the voting into one page.)

The 2025 Battle of the Breweries Conference Finals

Apollo Conference

We have two breweries left and its crunch time for the Apollo Conference!

The match-up is between 21. Boneshire Brew Works vs. 30. Allusion Brewing Company.

Cascade Conference

In a back to back for the conferences, we have a former champion reaching the finals. (Allusion Brewing in the Apollo Conference.) Liquid Noise Brewing Company is the returning champion. Can they move on to the finals to defend their championship?

The match-up is between 25. Shy Bear Brewing and 26. Liquid Noise Brewing Company.

Liberty Conference

The third conference has a tough match-up, and is the second Pittsburgh vs. Harrisburg area brewery matchup (the first being Allusion – Pittsburgh Area vs. Boneshire – Harrisburg area). In this one we have Acclamation Brewing defending Pittsburgh area vs. Wolf Brewing defending the Harrisburg area.

The match-up is between 10. Wolf Brewing vs. 17. Acclamation Brewing.

Zeus Conference

The final conference is seeing yet another Pittsburgh area brewery going head to head with a Central PA area brewery. We have Dancing Gnome Brewing of Pittsburgh vs. Collusion Tap Works of York and Lititz.

The match-up is between 2. Dancing Gnome Brewing vs. 17. Collusion Tap Works.

Voting Rules

Voting is straight forward and simple. There are four conferences: APOLLO, CASCADE, LIBERTY, and ZEUS. (All named after different hop varietals.) Each week, from Monday through Sunday, there will be a voting page for each of the conference. Click on the voting page, open it up, and it will have a pop-down survey poll. Starting with the Round of 64, all the way down to the finals of each conference, followed by a Fatal Four Way that will have the winner of each conference fighting for the grand champion!

You can vote daily for each of the conferences, so you can make up to 4 votes (one per conference) per day. Each round will be one week, except for the Finals which will be two weeks. The rounds are as follows: Round of 64, Round of 32, Round of 16, Round of 8, Round of 4, Conference Finals (Round of 2), and the Finals Fatal Four-Way (Winner of each Conference in a four-way match). So for the first week, there will be 32 matches in the conference, then in the second week there will be 16 matches, then 8 matches, then 4 matches, then the last two rounds are just 1 match each.

For the Conference Finals I might just make it 1 voting page rather than 4 distinct voting pages. It all depends on what will be easier for the blog’s coding and all that back house stuff.

Voting for this round will end on Sunday April 6th.

VOTE

(Voting has ended.)

Tournament Guidelines

We fully encourage everyone to have as much fun as possible with this tournament! Share and comment and talk about the breweries facing off. Upset your favorite brewery isn’t in the tournament? Shy Bear is Expanding With Two New Locations – Altoona and Hershey Pennsylvania https://thebeerthrillers.com/2022/07/25/shy-bear-is-expanding-with-two-new-locations-altoona-and-hershey-pennsylvania/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=shy-bear-is-expanding-with-two-new-locations-altoona-and-hershey-pennsylvania Tue, 26 Jul 2022 00:45:00 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=9562
Shy Bear Brewing is Expanding to Two New Future Locations

Shy Bear Brewing is Expanding

Some great news today got posted on the interwebs! (Something that is actually a bit shocking for the internet most days.) One of our (and hopefully one of your) favorite breweries is expanding with two new locations – and is coming even closer for us! Shy Bear Brewing announced on Facebook and Instagram that they are expanding to two new locations – Altoona Pennsylvania and Hershey Pennsylvania.

Shy Bear is a micro brewery currently located in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. They opened in 2018, making them four years old at this point, and this will be their first expansions.

The following was their announcement on social medias:

As I hinted the other day, we are ready to announce our expansion plans and luckily I can tell you that they include not ONE but TWO new locations. We will have a taproom (and eventually a small but kick ass food menu) at the @wingatebywyndham in Altoona next to UPMC hospital. The other spot will be inside the new @freshmarkethershey in the Hershey Towne Square. This modern farmer’s market will have everything you can possibly want including Shy Bear beers to go. Both locations are underway yet there’s no specific timeline for either quite yet. Altoona is projected to be ready to roll before PSU football season hits full stride…and Hershey shouldn’t be too far behind. In regard to these locations, we have the Hershey location staffed but we are seeking a highly self-motivated, creative chef for the Altoona location that can also help in a variety of other roles.

To apply for that position or anything else within our organization, please apply at https://www.shybearbrewing.com/job-opportunities

Shy Bear Brewing Announcement

Shy Bear Brewing

According to Untappd, Shy Bear Brewing is a micro brewery located out of Lewistown, Pennsylvania. They have 147 unique beers with a total average rating of 3.83 (out of 33, 578 ratings, as of 7.25.22). Their information bio is left blank.

For social media pages, you can find them at:

Altoona

Shy Bear Brewing Expanding to Altoona

Shy Bear’s first listed location for expansion is Altoona. Altoona is a moderately large sized city in Pennsylvania centrally located in the state. Levity Brewing announced their expansion to Altoona in 2020. From Lewistown to Altoona it’s roughly a 1 hour and 12 minute drive.

Lewistown to Altoona

Hershey

Shy Bear Brewing Expanding to Hershey

A hop skip and throw from us here at The Beer Thrillers to get to Hershey. So we are so super glad to welcome them to the town! Hershey has been really expanding and adding the breweries over the years. Starting with Troegs Independent Craft Brewing moving from Harrisburg to Hershey years and years ago, to adding Iron Hill Brewing, and Rotunda Brewing Company buying the old Irv’s Pub and turning that into a second location.

Hershey is a great location and town for breweries with the tourism from Hershey Park and the various other attractions (the concert venues, the nearby casino – Penn National at Hollywood Casino in Grantville, the Hershey Bears minor league hockey, as well as several smaller attractions in the surrounding areas). Hershey is also only minutes away from Harrisburg and Hummelstown as well. Which both boast numerous breweries. (Such as Appalachian Brewing Company, the recently expanded Zero Day Brewing, The Vegetable Hunter, Rubber Soul Brewing Company, Boneshire Brewing Company, Official Brewing, and thats just the Harrisburg – Rutherford – Hummelstown area. Add in Hershey’s Troegs Brewing, Iron Hill Brewing, and Rotunda Brewing, and you now have quite the brewery destination hotspot.) You can use the Brew Barons app to see all of the great breweries in the area.

Troegs Independent Craft Brewing just celebrated their 25th anniversary.

From Lewistown to Hershey its a 1 hour and 17 minute drive. So roughly the same amount of time it would take from Lewistown to Altoona (1 hour and 12 minutes). This is a great way to expand their brand and name recognition and get their fantastic beers out for more people to see, taste, and try.

Lots and Lots and Lots and Lots Going On

There is always lots and lots and lots and lots going on here at The Beer Thrillers. Please check out the site, look at all the different articles by numerous writers (myself – B. Kline, Josh – J. Doncevic, Default Brewing, Karl’s great homebrewing article, Amy’s articles, etc.). With us being halfway through the year, we have a new slew of content that is out, or is coming out shortly (list articles and the such), so be on the lookout for that. Also the layout should soon be getting a change, so that will hopefully make the site look nicer. (Excuse the dust while we work.)

There is always beer reviews, brewery reviews, travelogues, and news so always be checking back to see that. Also look for upcoming podcasts, and even YouTube videos soon. And if you check out our Facebook page, you’ll see that I occasionally do live video game streaming with our friend Drew over at Knights of Nostalgia. We’ve also recently added a Discord server as well as a LinkTree page to help keep track of all of our social media pages (because… let’s be honest, who can anymore?).

Thanks For Reading

Thanks for reading everyone. Hope you enjoyed the article. I personally can’t wait for Shy Bear Brewing to come to Hershey. Their brewery was one of our favorite stops when we did a brewery trip up that way, and we absolutely loved it. It was also great to see them have a tent at Ffej of July 19 (2022) – Friday Night. Fantastic beers and wonderful people. Hope only the best for them. I know I’ll be grabbing their stuff up.

Cheers All!

We’ve discussed Bartley Kaminski here on the blog before, in numerous different ways, but recently with his passing, and with the event here and various events in the distant past.

This event has been planned out for quite a while now, but has really blown up with Bart’s passing. Tons of breweries adding their names to the list, and lots of other additions, and add – ons and groups adding to it and showing up in various ways to help the cause. It looks to be one hell of a bash, and one hell of a way to salute, and remember Bart and to throw one final rad party in his honor and memory.

Bartley Kaminiski

We talked about Bart before here, and talked about his passing previously here: Farewell to Bartley Francis Kaminski. He founded Kollision Media, Hop Hedz Gear, and has been referred to as “The Willy Wonka of Beer Events”. I could go on and on about him here. He was just a great guy, the life of the party without being too much, and everyone who knew him, or even just met him at one event or the other has amazing memories or stories to tell about him. My buddy talks about Bart’s green – suit or green – man appearance at the Atlantic City Brewfest all the time. There was very rarely an event in the Central PA area where you didn’t see a Hop Hedz Gear stand or Bart himself. And I guarantee you there was at least one person walking around in a tee shirt or hoodie that he made.

I can’t do him justice here discussing his amazing life, but we can do him justice by having one heck of a party in his honor.

Brews and Bands for Bart

The final brewery list for Brews and Bands for Bart posted today (Wednesday 8.11.21)

Look at that line-up! And word is there might be more additions to come and stuff, even though this is the “finalized” list. And I’m sure some might have their own little additions or add ons or secret hidden stashes too.

Here is a full list with all of their Untappd links:

Word is also Lancaster Brewing Company, North Country Brewing, and maybe one or two more will be unofficially added. That is one hell of a lineup right there! With breweries from out of state like Tripping Animals (Florida) and much more.

And let us not forget the bands part of this event as well!

Beer Review: All Together (Ever Grain and Other Half Brewing) https://thebeerthrillers.com/2020/05/14/beer-review-all-together-ever-grain-and-other-half-brewing/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=beer-review-all-together-ever-grain-and-other-half-brewing Thu, 14 May 2020 13:57:00 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=3309
All Together by Ever Grain Brewing Co. (Partnering in ‘collaboration’ with Other Half Brewing Co. and many other breweries for this project.)

Many of you have probably heard of the ‘All Together’ project, started by Other Half Brewing Co. As soon as I heard about it, I had to immediately find the first brewery in my area to do it and get one; that first one in my immediate area turned out to be Ever Grain Brewing Co. Unfortunately I missed out on the 4pk of it, but I did get in time for a crowler (or two) of it, and I was informed that the crowler sales would go towards the project, just as the 4pk sales did.

I will be posting links to several other sites and sources about this here in this beer review / article, and I highly recommend you checking them out, and I also highly recommend checking out whatever ways you can have of donating.

Here is a direct bit from the Other Half Brewing Co.’s website on their official beer release version of theirs:

A world wide collaboration hosted by Other Half, Stout Collective and Craftpeak to support the enormous amount of hospitality workers laid off during this difficult time. We are donating 100% of our proceeds to the Restaurant Workers Community Foundation. We brewed this recipe with 2-row, oats and carapils and then hopped it with a beautiful blend of our hand selected Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe and Cascade. We intentionally kept the recipe simple so that every brewer that wants to do it can do it. Keep an eye out for versions from over 500 breweries worldwide all working to help others in need. Visit alltogether.beer for all the details and a list of breweries involved. Collect them all 🙂 Brewed in Rochester.

Other Half Brewing Co.

Many breweries jumped on board, and you can find some lists of who all is doing it on a few other sites, such as Craftbeerdrinking and Hopculture.

Craftbeer.com’s article (All Together Collaboration – Beer to Help Hospitality Workers) lists: Non Sequitur Beer Project, Side Project, Southern Grist, Mikerphone Brewing, Fifth Hammer Brewing, Modist Brewing, Outer Range Brewing Co., Industrial Arts Brewing Co., and obviously Other Half Brewing Co.

The All Together Beer website, a site designed for this and set up for this project, has a wealth of information on the project. I highly recommend checking this out. You can find the recipe, you can find ways to donate, and if you are a brewery, you can also find a way to jump aboard and become part of the project, as well as print out labels, and get ways to promote the beer for yourself as well. At the bottom of their page, they have a map and a running tally / statistic. There is 824 breweries that have participated, in 50 states (of the United States of America), and in 53 countries. That is amazing and just phenomenal! 824 breweries is insane! And every state, and 53 countries helping out, is just downright awesome. I don’t care how you slice it, breweries helping people, will always be awesome, and I will always gladly do what I can to help support that.

There is a map, that you can zoom in and see what breweries are doing the project. So being a Central PA native, I had to zoom in on PA and see who all is jumping aboard, and here is a list of many that are:

(in no particular order)

  • Saucony Creek Brewing Company
  • Robin Hood Brewing
  • Shy Bear Brewing
  • Hidden Stories Brewing Co. LLC
  • Rotunda Brewing Company
  • Ever Grain Brewing Co.
  • Fourscore Beer Co
    * Collaboration with: Prototype Brewery and Meadery and Wolf Brewing Co.
  • Shabby Deck Craft Brewery
  • Suburban Brewing Company
  • Voodoo Brewing Company
  • Hitchhiker Brewing Company
  • Grist House Craft Brewery
  • Roundabout Brewery
  • East End Brewing Co.
  • Dancing Gnome
  • 11th Hour Brewing
  • Whitehorse Brewing
  • Four Points Brewing
  • Sly Fox Brewing Co.
  • Lost Tavern Brewing
  • Birthright Brewing Co.
  • Angry Erik Brewing
  • Naked Brewing Co.
  • Free Will Brewing
  • Imprint Beer Co.
  • Well Crafted Beer Company
  • Ten7 Brewing Company
  • Brothers Kershner Brewing Company
  • Bald Birds Brewing
  • Rebel Hill Brewing Company
  • Stickman Brews
  • Brewery ARS
  • Odd Logic Brewing
  • Second Sin Brewing

And that’s just the list of Pennsylvania breweries! And just the ones mentioned so far. Who knows if more will do it (hopefully). And thats also just one state out of fifty, and one part of a country out of fifty-three countries. So there is obviously a lot more breweries doing this! Some big names too like Equilibrium Brewing in New York are on board as well. So there is definitely a lot of momentum and weight behind this movement and project, which is absolutely fabulous! Keep up all the great work breweries!

Another link with information can be found at Hopculture: Hopculture – Other Half’s All Together Beer Project for Hospitality Workers.

Now we got all of that behind us, the whys, the hows, and the whats of this amazing and great beer. Lets get into the beer itself!

All Together by Ever Grain Brewing Co.

Beer: All Together
Brewery: Ever Grain Brewing Co.
Collaboration: Other Half Brewing Co.
Style: IPA – New England
ABV: 6.5%
IBU: None Listed
Untappd Description: We are proud to be apart of this open-ended beer collaboration masterminded by Other Half Brewing Co. 100% of our proceeds are going to Hospitality Assistance Response of Pennsylvania.

Some of the various breweries listed what they changed of the recipe or adjusted, if they swapped hops or malts or added adjuncts. Ever Grain’s Untappd listing doesn’t state any changes. So I’m assuming its near identical to the recipe given by Other Half Brewing. You can find their recipe on their All Together website, and you can click here directly for the recipe. I also saved a copy of the recipe, and I’ll post it here as well:

Other Half All Together recipe.

So this is what I’m assuming Ever Grain did, just on their system, with possible minor tweaks along the way.

Firstly – appearance is beautiful orange. It has that lovely New England IPA look to it. Golden orange juicy appearance to it, like pouring into a tall pint glass your morning OJ (not… the killer… or running back… but the drink); but this time with alcohol added! (Double win!). It has a little foam head to it that is light and fluffy with dispersed bubbles.

Aroma is pound for pound sound for sound pure hoppy juicy, citrus, fruity, and delicious smelling. Just cracking this open and pouring it already has my mouth watering and ready to drink it. I got notes of citrus, grapefruit, passionfruit, orange and tangerine, with a bit of zest or lime to it at the end. There isn’t any west coast IPA notes to be found in this, no evergreen tree, no earthy notes, no forestry like notes, all pure New England typical hop aromas and notes. The dry hopping really brings them out to the forefront.

Taste is phenomenal, and sadly makes this beer go waaaaaaaay too quickly. Me and my friend D. Scott drank two crowlers of this, way, too, quickly, while doing one of our Knights of Nostalgia sessions. I think we finished our crowlers in about fifteen minutes each. Which, thankfully this is only 6.5% so we weren’t rocked from basically pounding 32oz., but this was also just too delicious to even set down. It is very juicy, very dank, very delicious. Its both fruity and citrusy, with notes of grapefruit, passionfruit, orange and tangerine. Theres a bit of a lime / lemon twist at the end, but very subtle, barely noticeable, but there is definitely a citrus vibe to this that goes with the fruity juicy nature of the beer itself. And like I said, at 6.5% its not too heavy or overwhelming, even in a 32oz crowler; or if you get a 4pk of this, (4 x 16 = 64oz) you could probably handle a 4pk in an evening and be fine for work the next day. (Work…. work…. I vaguely recall work….). The mouthfeel is also very nice, its not too thick, not cloying, or heavy, or watery thin either, its just the right level of consistency and feel on the tongue. This is definitely an easy sippable beer or a quick quaffer. Which, obviously, I was pretty quick with mine, but your mileage may vary. Knowing also, that 100% of the proceeds is going to the Hospitality Assistance Response of Pennsylvania, also makes this just so much tastier and drinkable.

My Untappd Rating: ****.25
Global Untappd Rating: 4.26 (as of 5.14.20).

Cheers everyone. Hopefully you are all making it through this quarantine and lockdown relatively safe, sound, and mentally safe and sound. If you are looking to donate for hospitality workers, there is links here in this article, and the All Together Beer link has thee most information on that. As well as information if you are a brewer, home brewer, or commercial brewer looking to make the beer as well. So please check that out here: All Together – Beer – We’re All In This Together.

As always everyone, thanks for checking out the blog, click the like, the follow, the subscribe, and share, and do all those other cool things to help us out. We greatly appreciate it, and love all of our readers. Stay safe and healthy, and make sure to drink up lots of All Together to help our favorite bartenders! They are going to need it. Even when we re-open, things will be tough for them for a while, and probably dealing with idiots not wanting to follow CDC guidelines and the such will be all the more difficult for them. So please, help them out. Cheers!
