Michaux Brewing Company Gettysburg Taproom (photo courtesy of Michaux Brewing)
The expansion news continues in Central PA (and Pennsylvania beer in general). Michaux Brewing just announced that they will be expanding into Gettysburg, adding a taproom there. It was just two years ago they opened their current location (July 3rd 2022). (Michaux Brewing Grand Opening.) Its great to see them expanding in less than two years, and into a wonderful beer city. Gettysburg is currently home to Fourscore Beer Co and Pilger Ruh Brewing. (As well as having had Tattered Flag and Appalachian Brewing Company there.) (Pilger Ruh Brewing Expanding into Gettysburg)
đ„GETTYSBURG⊠HERE WE COME!đ„
We are excited to officially announce that Michaux Brewing Company is expanding! We will be opening a second location in downtown Gettysburg this summer! After months of planning and a lot of help from our friends and family, the space is looking great. Our official opening date is still TBD, but we will be sure to keep you updated!
We want to give a special shoutout to Kenny @blue_shift_industries who helped in the visualization of the future taproom. His rendering of the space is on point!
Stay tuned for updates on the Gettysburg location!

We are working on a massive project here at The Beer Thrillers. We are creating a map of all of the breweries across the United States. State by state we are adding maps of all of the different states with every brewery in each state. You can find the brewery maps here:
We are also working on a project of creating printable and downloadable PDFs and resources to be able to check and keep track of all of the breweries youâve been to. So stay tuned for that project once we are finished with the Brewery Maps of the US States.

]]>The Preliminary Qualifiers
Lets get this thing started! Its time to RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMBLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
The 2024 Battle of the Breweries is officially kicking off ââ NOW â with the preliminary qualifiers. Each of the four conferences: Bravo, Crystal, Fuggle, and Galaxy, are hosting a single fatal four-way âwin and youâre inâ match. These are sixteen breweries that we have not been to yet, and will be traveling to and visiting in 2024 (or at the latest â early 2025). The winner of each of the four fatal four-ways will be added as the 32nd seed to their respective conference. (ie. winner of the Bravo fatal four way will become the 32nd seed in the Bravo conference, etc.)
The Battle of the Breweries (2024) is set up with four conferences of 32 (counting the âwin and youâre inâ brewery) for a total of 128 breweries in the main tournament (140 participating breweries in total). They will compete in single elimination rounds (Best of 32, Best of 16, Best of 8, Final Four, Finals) for each conference, before each conference will send their winner to the âFinals Fatal Four-Wayâ to determine the winner of this yearâs Battle of the Breweries.
Breweries will be competing from Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Arizona, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia.
You can see our previous topics about the tournament for this year here:
We encourage you to go onto social media and share this post, as well as to follow our Facebook, Instagram, and other pages to stay up to date on the tournament. You can vote once per day for each conferenceâs blocks (once weâre in the main tournament, each conference will have their own distinct article). So to better your favorite (or your own personal) breweryâs chances of winning â we highly recommend sharing and letting all of your friends and family (and even your enemies) know to vote for you.
You can follow along with us on Facebook and Instagram.
Thereâs gotta be some kind of rules to this madness right? This madness of March (and well, this year the end of February as well⊠and yes⊠also a bit of April as the tournament goes into that month as well). So⊠what are the rules involved?
To pull straight from the initial March Madness / Battle of the Breweries post:
So howâs this going to work? Who all is invited? What all breweries are going to be in it? How many breweries? Howâs voting going to work? Who decides whose in and whose out? Whats the seeding? Why is Rick such a jerk to Morty? Why is Jurassic Bark the saddest episode of Futurama ever? Why is the sky blue?
OkâŠ. enough with the questions!
March Madness (2021) â The Battle of the Breweries (2021)
Breweries are selected from breweries that have been visited by The Beer Thrillers staff.
Each day you will be able to come to the site to make your votes in the polls. It will be set-up by IPS, so it limits you to voting just once per day per vote. You can vote as many times as you want per round, but only once per day.
Rounds will be one week (ending on Sunday nights at 11:59:59 PM EST) and the new week of voting starting up the next day (Monday) when I get the articles posted (usually around 8:30 â 9:30 AM EST).
Voting will typically be a week long, but the scheduling might be a bit in-flux, stay tuned to the follow up Preliminary Qualifiers post, which will spell out the scheduling a bit better. I prefer to have the rounds last Monday â Sunday for ease. The preliminary qualifiers will end on Thursday (February 29th), and the tournament will start on a Friday (March 1st). So most likely the opening round will just have a few extra days of voting.
Lets do this! Enough with the fine print, and the rules, and the boring stuff. Lets get to voting! Here you go, hereâs where you get to vote for the Preliminary Qualifiers. The fatal four-way âWin And Youâre Inâ match-ups. There are four fatal four-ways, one for each conference. You may only pick one brewery from each fatal four-way.
Good luck to your favorite breweries in the tournament! Share and tell your friends to help your favorite breweries get more votes!
This is the list of all 140 breweries that will be participating in the Battle of the Breweries (2024). This list is in no particular order, and is not set for their conferences. We will be rolling D4âs (four sided dice) to determine which of the conferences the breweries will be placed in. Once they are placed in their conferences, they are seeded by overall Untappd rating.
These sixteen breweries will be paired up in groups of four to face off in fatal fourways to determine the final (32nd) seed in each conference. These breweries include:
(Update â Check back later tomorrow when we have the dice rolled to determine which breweries are in which conferences. The seeding will be determined via Untappd ratings.)
The main tournament will have 31 breweries in each conference, plus the brewery that wins the preliminary round for their conference. This list is not in order of seeding or in which conference they will participate in.

It is with a sad heart we have to yet again report unfortunate news in the craft beer industry. As just announced (under a half hour ago), the Black Rock Brewery in downtown Pottsville, Pennsylvania; will not be re â opening.
They shared a post by Bobby Weaver on their Facebook account just a bit ago which states why they wonât be re â opening. The shared post reads:
It is with a heavy, heavy heart that I am forced to announce that Black Rock will not be re-opening. We love Pottsville. Anyone who knows myself or Abby knows this all too well. If I wasnât someone challenging Pottsville City Hall and the âleadersâ of this City who sit on City Council â Black Rock would still be open today.
We love the old YWCA building, with its iconic architecture and rich history shared with many who still live here. However, restoring and converting old buildings like this one, built in 1893, is an extremely difficult endeavor. We took out massive loans to finance this major historical restoration and conversion. Personally, Iâve never been more proud of a project Iâve worked on. Itâs a survivor, having suffered through an INCREDIBLY difficult first 2 years of life. We NEEDED year 3 to be the payoff, just like all new businesses. We fought through our growing pains, figured out what people wanted, and had a kickass staff ready for an epic summer in Pottsville. We even expanded our outside seating with the picnic patio, added a pool table and dart boards, and had exciting events lined up, such as more beer/wine train excursions, an art installation with the Schuylkill Historic Society, and SO many scheduled bands.
Then, on the early morning of May 17th, we had an after-hours fire. It was caused by a freak equipment malfunction with our grill, and it led to one of the worst calls (so far) Iâve ever received as a business owner. When I arrived, a fleet of fire trucks, representing all fire departments in Pottsville, was already on the scene. Every fire is dangerous, but we were fortunate that the alarms in our building miraculously alerted a passing Pottsville PD officer at 1am. He gained access to the building and extinguished the fire within minutes from when it started â absolutely incredible. By the time the first firefighters arrived, the fire was already completely extinguished. The damage was minimal, contained, and we couldnât have been luckier. We even got the whole thing on video!
However, upon learning that a local business had suffered a fire, our City Council members used it to score cheap political points. The code office condemned our building and revoked our certificate of occupancy, which left us utterly shocked and completely confused.
They knew the fire was small, they knew it was extinguished extremely fast, and they knew there was no reason to take such drastic action. A few days after the fire, representatives from the City of Pottsville government conducted a âlife safety inspectionâ of our building. These code officers were the same individuals against whom I had filed official complaints. The same 3rd Party Code Inspector, who gladly accepted $3,000+ for our final inspection just 2 years ago, accompanied them. They meticulously examined our entire building that was approved, inspected, and untouched from the fire, from top to bottom, for over an hour, and then they left without saying a single word. They found 67 items, literally everything they could find, with the most petty violation being the height at which we hung our basement bathroom mirrors was a few inches too high. Violation. There were certainly some legitimate items on the list, such as emergency lights needing repairs and outlet covers, or our temporary use of extension cords. However, these were all easy fixes that weâve completed weeks ago and would not have caused us to close.
We have been closed for 6 weeks, and our hope is gone. Due to the revocation of our certificate of occupancy, we were required to submit entirely new architectural designs for the project. Unfortunately, every plan we have submitted so far has been denied, despite being submitted and sealed by licensed architects. The lack of clear answers and constantly shifting requirements have left us without hope. Our efforts have been consistently shot down, with emails and calls going unanswered or weeks in between contact, and general correspondence hostile. We canât go on like this. They have bullied yet another business into closing its doors in Pottsville, we arenât the first.
Iâm choosing my family. Abby & I are having our second child, a girl, here in a few days. Iâm also choosing our other two businesses, Pressed & Farlows, both of which won Readers Choice awards this year! Best coffeehouse AND best deli & hoagies, it was such an honor. If the City of Pottsville government isnât willing to fight for this project and save a historic building, neither am I. The dark and pathetic side of small town politics snuffed out Black Rock Brewpub. This is the embodiment of everything Iâve been working to change in Pottsville, and why Iâm running for City Council.
We have remained closed through Memorial Day Weekend and the entire month of June. As a primarily outdoor venue, the summer season is crucial for us. However, with the roadblocks, red tape, and ever-changing rules, we have been crippled. We canât plan events, retain our staff, or do ANYTHING when we have no idea when we can open, and we have no other options. Our employees are out of jobs, this historic building is closed, and it pains us to see Pottsville suffer. We hope that this goodbye is not forever.
Black Rock Brewing Company â Facebook Shared Post
This is very unfortunate news as Black Rock was a staple to the Pottsville community. There is other Pottsville breweries in the area (most notably the Yuengling Brewery as well as Pilger Ruh Brewing).
There is no talk or word yet on the Black Rock Brewing in Linglestown, Pennsylvania.
The fire back on May 17th really set them back, and as it turns out, crippled the business. Its a shame to see travesties and tragedies like this happen to businesses and that force them to shut down.
Fires arenât new to breweries â in just the past few years, Victory Brewing had a fire and explosion at their Kennett Square location, and the Funk Brewery in Elizabethtown had a fire. As well as the brewers Brooke and Shannon Hemauer had a fire at their own home.
We offer our condolences to those affected by the loss of Black Rock Brewing, and we wish the best for all in the future going forward.
Back on May 17th, Black Rock Brewing had a fire. Their Facebook post from the date sums it up:
In case you didnât hear, we had a silly little freak fire in the kitchen late last night. No one was there at the time and itâs minimal damage, but we will be temporarily closed while we work on cleaning up and making sure everything is in normal tip-top shape. Stay tuned for re-opening updates!
Black Rock Brewing Company â Facebook Post (May 17th, 2023)
As always, our whole team is super grateful for the incredible speed and effeciency of our local police and fire departments. Theyâre the real MVPs.
The post was accompanied by a Black Rock Brewing Company logo with âOK but Temporary Closedâ.
The following comes from Untappd. Black Rock Brewing Company is a micro brewery from Pottsville, Pennsylvania. They have 27 unique beers with a total of 2,918 ratings, and a global average rating of 3.58 (as of 6.28.23). Their Untappd description reads: Black Rock Brewing is a landmark craft microbrewery in Downtown Pottsville, featuring our own local brews, Yuengling Beer, SpringGate Wine, and food sourced from the historically rich coal region.
They also have a location in Linglestown, Pennsylvania.

We are working on a massive project here at The Beer Thrillers. We are creating a map of all of the breweries across the United States. State by state we are adding maps of all of the different states with every brewery in each state. (We will eventually get to the US Territories, as well as the Canadian Provinces, and possibly more countries; as well as doing some fun maps like a map of all the breweries weâve been to, and other fun maps.) You can find the brewery maps here:
We are also working on a project of creating printable and downloadable PDFs and resources to be able to check and keep track of all of the breweries youâve been to. So stay tuned for that project once we are finished with the Brewery Maps of the US States.

]]>Letâs take a look into the future and see what the crystal ball sees. Its the start of a new year and with that comes ideas of what the future might hold. People start resolutions (and quickly drop them), people try new habits, people (the horror⊠the horrorâŠ) do âDry Januaryâ, people work out more (for a week or so), etc.
Every year its a time of reevaluation, looking at the past â in this case the year of 2022 â and looking into the future â 2023 and beyond. Seeing what the new trends will be, and having interviews and articles like this let us take a gauge of all of that. It also then lets us look back at the end of the next year to see what we got right, what we got wrong, and why. Its a great launching point for speculation and thought, as well as serving as a great look back and retrospective and way to see the changes in trends, in the business, in brewing and craft beer in general.
Tyler Budwash â co owner of the Pilger Ruh Brewing Company out of Pottsvillle Pennsylvania, was nice enough to reach out to me with his chats and interviews with some of his friends and co â workers in the industry. He chatted with the brewers from Robin Hood Brewing Company, Bright Path Brewing Company, Mount Gretna Craft Brewery, Copperz Brewing Company, as well as the labelist and artist for Rotunda Brewing Company, and they all graciously allowed us to share their thoughts on 2023 and beyond.
I want to say thank you to all involved for this. I will make sure to thank you each individually at the end of the article. Also, if you like the breweries involved here in the article, be sure to check to the bottom where I will have a list of other articles with each of the breweries involved. Thank you.
Caleb Peachy is the head brewer of Robin Hood Brewing Company. As per Untappd, they are a Brew Pub out of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. They have 212 unique beers with over 33,000 ratings and a global average rating of 3.7 (as of 1.4.23). Their Untappd description reads: âRobin Hood Brewing Co. is a small-batch brewpub in Bellefonte, PA specializing in IPAâs and high quality experimental brews.â
When asked about future trends, Caleb Peachy said:
I think we will still see the trendy beers continue to be king. Such as the hazy IPAâs and fruited sours. But I do think we will start to see some fatigue with the hazyâs. Instead of having all IPAâs on tap, taprooms are going to need to have a variety. We will also continue to see breweries push creativity with what can be put into beers. Iâd personally like to see more west coast IPAâs and easy drinking lagers become popular throughout the year. Nothing beats a crispi boi anytime of the year.
Caleb Peachy

Tyler Budwash is the co â owner of Pilger Ruh Brewing Company. According to Untappd they are a nano brewery out of Pottsville, Pennsylvania. They have 159 unique beers and over 6,000 ratings with a global average rating of 3.87 (as of 1.4.23). Their Untappd description reads: âCommunity Crafted Nano Brewery in Pottsville PA with 12 rotating taps, local wine, spirits, and cocktails. Beer to go available. Ask about our food menu!â
Iâm not sure how the conversation went, but I like to think Tyler Budwash asked himself out loud what his thoughts were going to be on the trends of 2023. This is what he had to say:
Well letâs start with saying, I donât think hazy IPAs, fruited sours, pastry stouts, or seltzers are going anywhere and we can officially say lagers are âbackâ. So in 2023 I think we will continue to see more approachable beers hit taps, as in lower abv and more of the classic styles returning. Iâd personally like to see more milds.
Tyler Budwash

Alex Franco is co â owner and brewer at Bright Path Brewing Company. According to Untappd they are a micro brewery from Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. They have 20 unique beers and 2,900 ratings with a global average rating of 3.7 (as of 1.4.23). Their Untappd description reads: âSmall craft brewery located in Jim Thorpe, PA focusing on lagers and session ales.â
Tyler Budwash asked Alex Franco what he foresees in 2023, and this was his response:
For 2023 I think lagers continue to grow but I hope that beer drinkers catch up to brewers. Hazy IPAs are everywhere and hard to distinguish between most of them so I hope beer drinkers start to see the wide array of beer styles and branch out to try different things.
Alex Franco
For more information on Bright Path Brewing:
For more articles on Bright Path Brewing, please see the end of this article.
Brad Moyer is the brewer of Mount Gretna Craft Brewery. According to Untappd they are a micro brewery from Palmyra, Pennsylvania. They have 193 unique beers with a total of 19,000 ratings and a global average rating of 3.64 (as of 1.4.23). Their Untappd description reads: âHand-crafted beer inspired by a place where people share culture, art and ideas amid the lakes, trails and forest â historic Mount Gretna.â
When asked by Tyler Budwash what he saw coming in 2023, Brad Moyer said:
I think the thing I see most coming is diversification of Beer styles thereâs been a lot of breweries recently, who hang their hat on 1 to 2 styles and thatâs all they do. Now Iâm not saying that they donât do them well , itâs just people are demanding more these days and we are seeing a resurgence of lots of lagers and other styles that were one time not so sexy to brew. In a market where there is literally a brewery every 5 to 10 miles you have to be doing something that sets yourself apart and if you hang your hat only on, letâs say hazy IPA people will come but ultimately will want different choices and venture up the road.
Brad Moyer

Stevie Glick is the artist and can labelist for all of the beautiful can art you see from Rotunda Brewing Company. Their logos, artwork, and can labels adorn their social media and their promotional material as well as both brewery locations (the brewery and restaurant in Annville and the brew pub in Hershey). Rotunda Brewing Company is a micro brewery out of Annville Pennsylvania with 458 unique beers, 83,000 ratings and a global average rating of 3.94 (as of 1.4.23) according to Untappd. Their Untappd description reads: âStop by at 11am on Saturdays to get your RBC 32 oz Crowlers TO GO! Quantities are limited and go fast! We are conveniently located at 245 West Main Street, Annville PA. Parking is available in the back. Call us today with any questions as we have a very knowledgeable staff on hand that can handle any beer questions you may have!â
When confronted by Tyler Budwash and asked about the future, this is what Stevie Glick had to say:
I donât see much changing at all honesty.
Maybe everyone fine tuning their skills with heavily fruited sours.
Weâre adding nitrogen to a lot of things â especially the Swheat Tart seriesI most definitely see the bigger craft brewing companyâs from the surrounding states are either setting up shop in PA or are finally getting some stretch with distro into their surrounding states.
Covid brought us Aslin Brewing Company, Trillium Brewing Company, and Other Half Brewing; and thatâs amazing but may also bring the little breweries competition selling out of six pack shops.
Iâm hoping to see more collaborations between little brewing companies and bigger ones.
And lastly. no oneâs ever going to stop trying to push the boundaries of what should or could be in beer or what can be made from it â so who knows maybe a new unique style may pop out again that no one thought of.
Stevie Glick

Justin Kershner is the brewer for Copperz Brewing Company, a brew pub out of Hamburg Pennsylvania. Based on Untappd they have 38 unique beers, 2,100 ratings, and a global average rating of 3.68 (as of 1.4.23). Their Untappd description reads: âOpened in December 2021, our 5bbl brewhouse supplies 10 rotating taps with a wide variety of styles. Full kitchen offering great food and a limited bar featuring PA liquors.â
When asked by Tyler Budwash what he thinks 2023 will hold, Justin Kershner stated this:
Ha, I wish I knew where it was heading. Thatâs kinda the fun part right? We donât know. Just gotta roll with it.
Justin Kershner

Looking for more articles weâve written here on The Beer Thrillers about the above breweries? Check these out below:
One of my favorite (B. Kline writing here) features of the blog, and one of my favorite things to do is get to interview brewers, people in the industry, and just people in general for the blog. The following is a list of interviews weâve done for the blog.
Firstly Iâd like to thank Tyler Budwash who reached out to me and did ther interviews and talked to his friends and co â workers. He messaged me wanting to do this end of the year / looking forward to 2023 and reached out to the fine folks above about it. We are always glad here at The Beer Thrillers to showcase and support the brewers and breweries that donât always get âmainstreamâ attention, and the attention and support they deserve. Especially with some of these being local and Pennsylvania based breweries, its nice to give them the attention and shout outs that they donât get from other blogs and sites and groups on the web. Thank you Tyler for reaching out to them and for writing the article. (I, as B. Kline, did just editing, and adding this ending to the article.)
With that, I would like to thank Caleb Peachy, Brad Moyer, Alex Franco, Stevie Glick, and Justin Kershner for answering Tylerâs messages and questions.
Peel back the cover of the blog a bit, I started editing and formatting the article this morning at 8AM to try and have it done by 9AM so I could get ready for work⊠when 9:20AM rolled up and I realized âoh crap Iâm gonna be lateâ and had to put it on hold to after work. So my apologies for not getting this out this morning, but I jumped on it right after work, and despite WordPressâs best attempts at being super slow and glitchy for some reason at just the moments I didnât need or want it to be, here it is.
I hope you all enjoyed the article. Please make sure to stop out at these great breweries. We will be definitely hitting some of these places in the near future.
Let us know in the comments what you think will be the trends of 2023 and going forward in the world of craft beer. Think it will eventually become âThe Year of the Lagerâ despite a big blog and group saying for four years that it will be? Think weâll get even heavier stouts? More fruity sours? Who knows! Let us know your thought and opinions.
Also, please like, subscribe, and follow the page. Also make sure to check out our social media pages and follow us on there. Thanks so much for reading!
Cheers All! And a very Happy New Years!

]]>How do you recognize one of the baddest and coolest party throwers around? By throwing one of the biggest and baddest bashes ever in his honor! Thats just whatâs in store this Saturday at Tattered Flag. Weâve discussed Bartley Kaminski here on the blog before, in numerous different ways, but recently with his passing, and with the event here and various events in the distant past.
This event has been planned out for quite a while now, but has really blown up with Bartâs passing. Tons of breweries adding their names to the list, and lots of other additions, and add â ons and groups adding to it and showing up in various ways to help the cause. It looks to be one hell of a bash, and one hell of a way to salute, and remember Bart and to throw one final rad party in his honor and memory.
We talked about Bart before here, and talked about his passing previously here: Farewell to Bartley Francis Kaminski. He founded Kollision Media, Hop Hedz Gear, and has been referred to as âThe Willy Wonka of Beer Eventsâ. I could go on and on about him here. He was just a great guy, the life of the party without being too much, and everyone who knew him, or even just met him at one event or the other has amazing memories or stories to tell about him. My buddy talks about Bartâs green â suit or green â man appearance at the Atlantic City Brewfest all the time. There was very rarely an event in the Central PA area where you didnât see a Hop Hedz Gear stand or Bart himself. And I guarantee you there was at least one person walking around in a tee shirt or hoodie that he made.
I canât do him justice here discussing his amazing life, but we can do him justice by having one heck of a party in his honor.
Look at that line-up! And word is there might be more additions to come and stuff, even though this is the âfinalizedâ list. And Iâm sure some might have their own little additions or add ons or secret hidden stashes too.
Here is a full list with all of their Untappd links:
Word is also Lancaster Brewing Company, North Country Brewing, and maybe one or two more will be unofficially added. That is one hell of a lineup right there! With breweries from out of state like Tripping Animals (Florida) and much more.
And let us not forget the bands part of this event as well!
Also, as posted by Hop Hedz Gear on social media:
In addition to the 40+ breweries that will be attending the fest, we would like to thank our group of vendors who will be a part of the event! Thanks so Whimsical Wonders By Kris, Thicc Bois Glassware, D&S Cigar Lounge, Dutch Country Soft Pretzels, and Feathers Feed and Jerky. Be sure to stop by these booths, as all sales will have a portion of proceeds donated to the cause!
When is this amazing block party bash? This Saturday, from noon to 4PM. Where is it? At Tattered Flag Brewery on South Union Street in Middletown, Pennsylvania (Dauphin County). How do you get tickets? Check out Hop Hedz Gear, or go here: https://shop.hophedzgear.com/products/brews-and-bands-for-bart
(UPDATE: Tickets have sold out. On the day of, they will have roughly 100 tickets for purchase at the door. This will be the only way to attend the event now.)
Make sure to check out the Breweries in PA tent to find the special Hard Pills to Swallow Tattered Flag collaboration that they made just for the event. It is also available in cans, and you can purchase it through the statewide shipping âSupply Dropâ that Tattered Flag offers.

]]>First, Tattered Flag is one of my favorite local breweries, and secondly, its a Mandalorian themed beer, and thirdlyâŠ. Pandas. Seriously, what could go wrong here?
Absolutely. Nothing.
So, since I am still doing some âat homeâ quarantining after my trip out to Indianapolis from work, yesterday I did a bit of day drinking and had to make sure this was one of the several wonderful beers I had, and as you can see, I made sure to use my new glass I got from the Vonnegut Museum and Library.
On The Beer Thrillers we have done several Mandalorian and Star Wars themed beers before, so it should be obvious to any reader of ours that I am a huge Star Wars fan. You can see our Mandalorian themed beer reviews here:
And our Star Wars themed beers here:
Space Balls themed beer:
If you use our search function on our blog and type in STAR WARS, these are some of the various articles where I mention Star Wars in them: STAR WARS on THE BEER THRILLERS.
Rotunda Brewing Company in Annville (and their brewpub in Hershey) are re-releasing their Chewbacca beer this weekend, a black IPA which I have had before. I am going to be getting a can and doing a review for that as well. (Can never have enough Star Wars themed beers to review on here, believe me. So if you know of any, or have any and would like to see me review it, contact us through the CONTACT US page.)
As you can see, like I said above, I am also using my brand new Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library glass. It has such a great quote of Vonnegut which he also used in Slaughter-House Five:
âI have this disease late at night sometimes, involving alcohol and the telephone.â
Story had it, he would drink and call people, just to basically yell something poignant and quick to them over the phone, and then slam the phone down. Not to strangers or random numbers, but to his friends and colleagues. I can certainly relate to some late night drunk texts (I think a lot of people can actually). So I see where he is coming at with this.
Alright, now that weâve established the background for the beer and for the glass, letâs actually review this beer shall we.
Beer: The Pandalorian
Brewery: Tattered Flag
Style: IPA â Imperial / Double New England
ABV: 7.5%
IBU: None
Untappd Description: Hazy Imperial IPA made from a blend of base malts, generous wheat addition, oats, and flaked maze bring forth a sweet backbone complimented by Sabro in the kettle and a massive Sabro Cryo dry hop. Expect sweet coconut ? up front followed by citrus lime and a sweet creamy finish.
As you can see above, this is hazy, but on the lighter, softer orange â yellow â golden scale. Not the deep heavy dank, but a lighter, softer looking hazy New England style IPA / DIPA. Justin, the head brewer for Tattered Flag does a lot of New England style IPAs (and a lot of sours) and does them all very well, making them different from each other too, which is sometimes hard to do with the style. You have some that look bright orange to golden with a very dank and heavy haze, and then you have some that are lighter softer yellow to golden like this, with some haze. There is some orange here, but I would say its mostly yellow and golden. There is a thin head to it, and great carbonation, and left nice lacing on the glass.
Aroma is a blend of hop, mainly a blend of coconut, tangerine, the fruity and citrus hop aromas. Sabro is a pretty strong hop and gives this a very strong hop presence and nose. On the nose you get coconut, tangerine, hint of cedar and mint, with some cream, some lime.
This is a very smooth and drinkable DIPA. At 7.5% its in a middle ground of ABV for IPAs and DIPAs. In comparison, Troegs Brewingâs Perpetual IPA (their flagship West Coast IPA) is a 7.5% (and right there is where the comparison between the two of these stop). 7-8% is a good middle ground area for IPAs and DIPAâs I feel. Its enough to get you to notice the ABV, but not enough to make it boozy, to heavy, or to get you too drunk. A nice general buzz is all that is needed and required. This looks and tastes similar to New England IPAs, but its not a generic New England IPA / DIPA. The Sabro hops gives it a very different taste than most New England IPAs, as Sabro isnât really a much used hop, especially in the Cryo style. This gives The Pandalorian an interesting start with a different finish to it. It has a coconut, tangerine, citrus, taste at the beginning, but it ends on more of a zest lime, cream flavor. Overall its a silky smooth drink that is very easy to drink. There is a bit of an ending bite as you get to the bottom of the glass, but that is typical for most IPAs especially as you get closer to the finishing last sips. Despite the Sabro hops and the nose, there isnât much of a cedar or mint flavoring that I was able to pick up on, but I did get tangerine, coconut, lime, and cream. My one friend suggested grapefruit, but I wasnât able to pick up any grapefruit, and thats also not typically a characteristic of Sabro hops either. I very much enjoyed the smoothness of this, and the flavor profile, the aroma was on point, and the ABV was nice for a good buzz, a four pack is nice for sharing with buddies while streaming (which me and my friend did during the Konami games live stream we did on Knights of Nostalgia). This adds to the growing list of good and great New England IPAs that Tattered Flag has put out over the recent year. Definitely make sure to check this out, either for namesake or for the beer itself. Not sure how much longer the four packs will last at the brewery, so if you want the great can art be sure to pop in soon, they also have it on draft which will probably last a bit longer. This is a good smooth, tasty New England DIPA that will certainly not disappoint.
My Untappd Rating: ****
Global Untappd Rating: 3.84 (as of 11.20.20)
You can check out more beer reviews Iâve done from Tattered Flag below:
Also, Tattered Flag now does statewide shipping through their SUPPLY DROP. Make sure to take advantage of that if you live anywhere in Pennsylvania and are unable to make it to their brewery.
On Black Friday they are doing a big bottle release at their upcoming Lancaster Barrel House location. More details can be found on their Facebook page â Tattered Flag @ Facebook and Tattered Flag Barrel House @ Facebook. I will be doing an article covering that shortly as well.

]]>Last night was another âstream nightâ with my friend Drew over at Knights of Nostalgia. I had four amazing beers last night (and will be doing a review of each). I had this â Pixels; Aslinâs Isolation Anniversary Beer, Elder Pine Brewing and Blendingâs Villenage, and Great Notionâs Fruit Monster. This was my first time having all four of these beers, and my first time having a beer from Seminar Brewing, from Elder Pine Brewing and Blending, and from Great Notion Brewing. And none of them disappointed.
Donât worry, I will be doing a review for all four of these. They were way to good not to do a review for each. (And made for quite the costly mix-a-six at Breskiâs too, so I better put the drinking to good use!)
I had been saving the Pixels for a night of doing video game streaming with Knights of Nostalgia just due to its image and name-sake. Funnily though, we didnât play a pixelated game, we did a more modern game (normally on Knights of Nostalgia we play old school NES or SNES games, like Zelda, or Metroid, or Mario, etc.). But, either way, it still made for a good fit for the stream. We played the Friday the 13th game, which you can play against people multi-player online. You are either Jason (the killer) or a camp counselor (someone who wants to escape). You play from various levels like Crystal Lake, Jarvis House, etc. Drew has all of the different Jasonâs unlocked, so if you are Jason, you can play as any of the Jasonâs from Parts I through X, including NES Jason. (Which looks absolutely horrible by the way, I do not recommend that Jason; just on aesthetics alone.) The game is ridiculously fun, and every time you play it, itâs simple, same yet different, and has endless possibilities. The surprise and shock factor of Jason appearing and things like that are always great too. Absolutely a blast to play with friends, definitely worth checking out. (Or go to Knights of Nostalgia and watch us play it.)
So after work yesterday, I ran home and got the beer and then went to his house and from 7:30 to roughly 12:30 we played Friday the 13th, and then hung around chatting until about 2:30 while having another beverage or two (St. Bonifaceâs Theory and Reality; and lots of water).
Enough jibber jabbering; letâs get on with the review!
Beer: Pixels
Brewery: Seminar Brewing
Style: IPA â New England
ABV: 7.2%
IBU: None
Untappd Description: New England Style IPA â Juicy, hoppy and cloudy, just like it should be!
This beer comes from a co-worker (shout out to Jam; who also brought me Up a Creek Extreme Ale) who grabbed this and a few other beers for me from South Carolina. Interesting note on this â the canâs tag price was 4.19$. Not sure why itâs such an odd amount, but possibly / probably because of tax I would assume. This is my first time having anything from them, and I was not disappointed. On Untappd their listed as having 60 unique beers. You can find the link to them above.
Itâs hard to tell from the picture above (didnât want to detract from the streaming by taking a beautiful photo, so youâll have to deal with the crappy photo pic of the beer, half drank), but this looks like a juicy dank normal New England IPA. Itâs hazy and opaque, and it foamed up a lot more than I imagined it would (could be traveling causing some shaking), but it had a lot of head to this. White foamy, billowy head to it, that left a fair bit of lacing on the glass.
Aroma is a very juicy, citrus, hoppy New England IPA. Its bright, powerful, and strong hop notes, this smells every bit as what youâre expecting from a hoppy and hop forward New England IPA. Itâs definitely taken the knob and turned it up to max on the hop aroma, and there ainât a thing wrong with that.
Taste is just like the above two â spot on for a New England hoppy / hop forward IPA. Very juicy, very strong hop notes and flavors, very powerful hop presence, that will really knock your socks off (be careful; drink this with shoes on to protect yourself from flying socks). There isnât a crazy amount of things going on with this beer, its pretty much standard, by the numbers, but its done extremely well. You get a lot of juicy citrus hop notes up front, that taper off into more subtle earthy hop notes, with a slight background of mango hops flavors. It all blends pretty much by the end, and all blends very well to boot. Sometimes the best beer is just a beer done extremely well. Doesnât need to have five thousand adjuncts or forty million different ingredients or a bunch of crazy recipe additions, late hop this, or dry hopped that, just a well brewed, delicious, tasty, and drinkable beer is all you really need most times; and this is just that beer. It hits all of the palate well, and spot on, doesnât have any lingering or bad off flavors, and gets you wanting more when you are finished. At 7.2% ABV its not super strong and comparison wise, that puts it near Perpetual IPA (7.5%) by Troegs Brewing; so its not incredibly strong, and easy to drink a few of these at a time. A great beer to have while hanging out with friends and playing video games and streaming the game, while being chased and hacked to pieces by Jason.
My Untappd Rating: ****
Global Untappd Rating: 3.95 (as of 10.22.20)
Thanks for reading everyone. Today has been a slow day for me, I had wanted to go hiking and taking the dog walking and checking out a brewery or two or something, but that doesnât look to be happening (started off slow⊠I may or may not have a pretty decent size headache when I woke up this morning, and woke up at 7AM thinking it was a work day, and then went back to sleep and woke up at 8:30-9AM). But hopefully tomorrow will be a hiking and traveling day. Iâm thinking of hitting up the Hamburg area for hiking and obviously the breweries in the nearby areas.
You can see my latest beer reviews here:
Cheers everyone, and stay safe and healthy out there with all the rises in COVID cases. Remember to mask up, remember to wash hands, and most importantly: remember to drink some great craft beers!
Final notes â be sure to check out our article on Pilger Ruh Brewing and their crowd funding, they begin construction work on their brewery tomorrow, and need every cent they can get, so check that out and see if you are able to help out. Also, tomorrow, Tattered Flag released their Pitties beer; which some of the proceeds go towards helping Pittie Rescues. Be sure to check that out.
Ok everyone, have a great Thursday, and itâs time I get my butt moving instead of doing nothing all day. Alright, cheers everyone!

Pilger Ruh Brewing is currently looking for your help. They have finally found the location for their future home, in Pottsville Pennsylvania, they just need your help to get this dream up off the ground and get those taps flowing.
As with any older building, its going to need a lot of renovations, innovations, changes, and modifications to get it turned into a thriving business⊠let alone a bustling brewery. Which is one of the great thing about craft breweries â turning old buildings into brand new beautiful rustic but modern restaurants and breweries. Look at how Rubber Soul has turned the old police station (borough office building) in Hummelstown into their brewery. Or how Tattered Flag renovated their old building in Middletown. Its a common theme for many breweries; take an old building in a town they like, and renovate and modify it to meet their needs. It preserves the building, gives the brewery a unique look, helps the town, and helps the brewery. Seems like a win all around right?
Right.
So letâs help out Pilger Ruh Brewing get the money they need so they can do the same in Pottsville!
How can you help? Well, its really simple. Similar to a GoFundMe page, they have a indigogo page. You go there, donate what you can, and it all adds up. Want to help Pilger Ruh Brewing out and help them hit their goals and meet their dreams? Click here to donate: Pilger Ruh Brewing IndieGoGo Page.
Why should you help out?
WellâŠ. firstly, you would be helping a brand new brewery start up. You would be helping brewers, community members, friends, and family meet their dreams and achieve their goals. And secondly⊠youâll get some perks out of it too!
Some perks include: free t-shirts, hoodies, limited edition glasswear, tickets to conventions, discounts on mug club memberships, getting to name some of their fermenters and tanks, brewing with them, hats, and getting to name some of their beers.
Thats a lot of incentive just right there to help them out.
Want to read their story? (You can go to their IndieGoGo page to read it) or read the following:
âPilger Ruh Brewing is a new craft brewery coming to Schuylkill County PA! The whole dream started three years ago in the summer of 2017 when owners Tyler Budwash, Anthony Deppen, Conlan Budwash, along with friends Matt and Alex started brewing together. We quickly joined the beer festival circuit and received great reviews from consumers all over the state. Our brewery has over 14 years of combined brewing experience and we plan to bring great local beers of all styles to Pottsville PA in 2021! Co-Owner Tyler has been homebrewing since 2013, started the Schuylkill County Brew Fest, and has been to over 250 different breweries in the US, a graduate of Kutztown University where he has a BA in Political Science. He currently lives in Schuylkill County with his 2 children and girlfriend Corine. Co-Owner Anthony Deppen has been homebrewing since 2017, world traveled professional wrestler, currently lives in New Cumberland PA with his wife Cassidy where they are expecting their first child in November 2020. Head Brewer Conlan Budwash has been the assistant brewer at Snitz Creek the last 4 years, worked at Troegs Brewing Company the last 5 years, lives in Pine Grove, and graduated from the Brew Science course through HACC.
We started this campaign to help raise some money to cover additional renovations to complete our taproom and gain some extra working capital upon opening. (we arenât asking for a lot). Getting this brewery off the ground has been financially challenging for us, but we have faith that we can make this work no matter what the situation is. Instead of asking for money outright, we want to offer you a number of different options where you gain something as well. No matter what you decide to give we are very appreciative of you for that and each and every person that has supported us on this journey.
Our goal is to raise at least $25,000 to complete our renovations (floors, walls, bathrooms, reinforcing the basement etc). As we said earlier, we want to offer you something for helping us. Some of the perks we have lined up are limited edition glasses, shirts, deals on mug club memberships, naming tanks, brewing with us, exclusive beers, hoodies, hats, free tickets to events ran by us and more! We set our goal a bit higher than we wanted to, so no matter what amount we reach, ALL proceeds will be going into getting the taproom ready for early next year.
The brewery plans to be very community oriented, which is why we chose to move our operations to Pottsville PA. We want to bring something new to the area and help it gain more traction and give back to the community as much as we could. Five years ago there werenât any actual craft breweries in Schuylkill County, now after we open there will be technically six. Anyone that has had our beers over the last 3.5 years knows what to expect when we open, and thatâs quality beers. Our beers have been speaking for themselves at each and every event and we plan to continue that quality when we open next year.
We are aware that starting a new business comes with a ton of risks, especially when it comes to beer. I mean we could fail in a year and be gone, but we will not let that happen because we cannot fail and we will not fail. We chose the not so expensive route for all of our equipment, we bought things that made sense with our budget, not dropping thousands of dollars to look good or buy huge name brands. This project has been trying to get off the ground for 2 years now, we were unable to obtain funding from quite some time before we were able to save up a lot of our own money and gain a small SBA loan for our equipment. Unfortunately COVID19 set up back a few months with getting our plans and permits ready, but we are now ready to go. Weâre very happy to be in the situation we are in now and want to finish up renovations so we can open and start paying back all of our debts. Every last penny will be going towards the brewery, whether it be our glassware or something as small as a floor mat.
If our perks arenât something youâre interested in you can still help. We would greatly appreciate you sharing our Facebook page and inviting all of your friends to like it. Give us a Like on Instagram, tell all your friends and family about us, and when we open come say hi!
Thank you!
-Tyler, Tony, and Conlanâ
The buildingâs location is 213 N. Centre Street in Pottsville, PA. They have quite a few renovations they need to do to make the building into a brewery. Namely flooring, walls, reinforcing the basement, drainage, ditches, new bathrooms, etc.
Their current goal is 25,000$. As of posting time (9.23.20 â 10PM) they are up to 3,468$. So there is a ways to go, and every penny will help add up!
You most likely have met, known, or heard of Pilger Ruh Brewing, or the Budwash brothers from the various events and brewfests. They are typically a staple at the Litiz, Mount Hope, Lancaster, and Schukyll Brewfests (they actually run the Schukyll Brewfest). They are also usually seen at Ffej of July, at the Kegs and Eggs at Rotunda, and many other events, brewfests, and charity events. They have been working at Troegs Brewing and Snitz Creek Brewery, behind the scenes things, and as of now, brewing for Snitz Creek. You can also find their own Pilger Ruh beers on tap at the Snitz Creek Annville (the old Funckâs â right next to the Fort Indiantown Gap Cemetery) location.
Iâve gotten to know all three quite well over the years, from different events, from the Central PA Whalerz, from Tylerâs love of the civil war, all threeâs love for professional wrestling (Anthony Deppen is actually a professional wrestler â Tony Deppen â who wrestles for promotions such as Ring of Honor [ROH], amongst many others), and their collaborations with Tattered Flag.
They are all a bunch of great dudes, so letâs help them make this happen. The world needs more great beers and more great breweries and brewers. So lets band together and help them out!

]]>Welcome to our first of the brewer interview series that I am introducing to the blog. This is going to be a new section to the blog that will include interviews with head brewers, assistant brewers, beer scientists, home brewers, fellow beer bloggers, and other craft beer industry workers. This has long been a segment and series I wanted to introduce to the blog, but finally got off the ground. If you are a brewer or industry worker and would be interested in doing an interview, contact us through the CONTACT PAGE (link here or see above in the menu).
Our very first interviewee for the segment is Tyler Budwash of Pilger Ruh Brewing. Tyler is a great guy, Iâve gotten to know him through helping out with Tattered Flagâs canning line where Pilger Ruh has done a few collaborations, as well as several brewfests, Ffej of July, and discussing Civil War battlefields with him; as well as the Central PA Whalerz.
Our interviews will follow a pretty simplistic and easy formula for everyone we interview. Topics will be introduced in bold and underline, questions will be asked in bold, and answers will be in regular font. TBT stands for The Beer Thrillers. The intervieweeâs name will be initialized in his answers. (Example: TB = Tyler Budwash).
Starting off with the simple, softball, questions:
TBT: What is your name and do you currently work for a brewery?
TB: My name is Tyler Budwash, I currently work for the Social Security Administration, but will also be working at my brewery when we open.
TBT: What is your brewing background?
TB: I got into homebrewing in early 2012 (Mr Beer Kit). At the time I wasnât aware that alot of extract beer is kind of gross the way it is so I had some okay beers but quite a few misses before I got into all grain brewing in 2013 or so. I then stopped brewing all together in late 2014 as I was preparing to have my first child and didnât get back into it until 2017. Both Conyngham Brewing and Rotunda let me come in and collab on some beers for my fest (Schuylkill County Brew Fest) and I havenât looked back since.
TBT: What are your interests in and out of the industry?
TB: Pro Wrestling, history, weight lifting, Carolina Panther Football, coordinating events.
TBT: How did you get into beer? What were your âstarting beerâ days like? What were the first craft breweries you tasted / visited?
TB: My starting beers were Miller Lite, Yuengling Lager, Budweiser, and Hurricanes. Some of the first âcraft beersâ I got into at the time were Sam Adams, Magic Hat, and Saranac..I always got variety packs to try as many different beers as I could. This was pre â Untappd days so I wasnât even getting any check-ins/badges! As far as actual breweries that I first visitedâŠitâd have to be ABC in Harrisburg, Troegs, and a brew pub in Myrtle Beach thatâs now closed called Liberty. ABC and Troegs definitely got me more into the scene. I ended up going to a ton of beer fests just to see what else was out there. I had no idea there were as many PA breweries as there were and this was back in 2013.
TBT: How did you get into brewing?
TB: The love of beer, beer fests, and starting my own festival all gave me the itch.
Brewing Specific:
TBT: What is / will be your full job at Pilger Ruh Brewing?
TB: We didnât give ourselves any fancy titles yet, but Iâll be Co-Owner/Brewmaster? Iâll basically be running the day to day activities (brew/personnel scheduling, event coordinating, ordering etc) while our other Co-Owner Tony Deppen is more of the big picture. My brother Conlan Budwash will take the Head Brewer position and heâs also a minority owner.
TBT: What do you like to brew? What styles do you like most?
TB: I like brewing stouts, whether itâs going to be heavily adjuncted or straight up. I also like brewing Pilsners, theyâre not an easy beer to brew so I enjoyed the challenge.Iâm going to sound just like every other beer boi out there right now but I enjoy my hazy IPAs and fruited sours, but again my palate had come full circle and Iâm enjoying alot of Pilsners, hefeweizens, and kolsches as of late.
TBT: Who are some of your favorite current brewers and breweries? What do you like about them, why do you like them, etc?
TB: This is a loaded question. Favorite brewers? My favorite brewers are the friends Iâve made over the last couple years, so itâd be Dave Morrow (Chatty Monks), Justin Hoak (Tattered Flag), Derek Wolf (Wolf Brewing), Brad Moyer( Liquid Noise), and Eric Stubbs (Rotunda). Iâve been picking their brains for years now and theyâve all been nothing but great to me and Pilger Ruh. Favorite breweries⊠Iâll do it like this. Locally I really like Tattered Flag (great beer and chicken sammiches), The Millworks (I love the not so over the top styles and of course their chicken sammiches), Hidden River (awesome beer and ambiance) , and South County (they knock everything out of the park and I miss the Gelato line beer shares). Outside of this general area I really like The Veil, Urban South Htx, Dancing Gnome, Cinderlands, Cushwa.
TBT: What styles do you think you do best? What are some of your hardest styles to nail down?
TB: Iâll have to go back to stouts as the styles I do best, along with sours, and Pilsners. Believe it or not IPAs were very hard for me to nail at first (oxygen and shit). Luckily thatâs no longer an issue.
TBT: What do you think are defining qualities of a good beer?
TB: Your water. Does it match your description?
TBT: What do you think are defining qualities of a good brewer?
TB: Being able to adapt, never think you know everything because you never stop learning.
TBT: Same vein as the last two â what do you think are defining qualities of a good brewery?
TB: Good beer, ambiance, and friendliness.
Pilger Ruh Brewing Specific:
TBT: Tell us about Pilger Ruh. What is Pilger Ruh Brewing? How did it form? Who all is involved? What are the plans for the brewery/etc?
TB: Pilger Ruh started when myself and 4 others wanted to start a homebrew club. At that point we were going by Keyhop Homebrew Club. One thing led to another and we found ourselves on festivals around the state.Right now, as I said earlier itâs myself, Tony Deppen, and my brother Conlan as the three owners/brewers. We have 2 others (Matt and Alex) who have been helping us along the way.Plans for the brewery, well we are going to open on a 5 barrel system in a 2400 square foot building in Pottsville PA. Weâll have 12-15 rotating taps from Milkshake IPAs to Dark Milds. We will be focusing on the popular hype beers but will have something for everyone.
TBT: Where do you foresee Pilger Ruh Brewing in 5, 10, 15 years from now?
TB: I hope to see ourselves growing with production, and paying off all our debts ASAP as possible. Buying a canning line. My personal goal would be to open a second location, where weâd get a bigger system.
COVID-19 and Beer Industry Specific:
TBT: How has COVID-19 impacted Pilger Ruh Brewing? Impacted your brewing and impacted your current work?
TB: Iâve been working from home since mid March. I actually get less work done with the brewery than I do when Iâm at my office. It impacted the brewery by the cancelling of all the beer festivals, closing on our loan, but at the same time it bought us time as I wouldnât want to open during this pandemic.
TBT: How do you think COVID-19 has impacted the beer industry as a whole? Specifically the craft beer market, and even more so in PA?
TB: It shows that people care about their local breweries and that you better have a crowler machine or canning line. I guess now you have to have your permit to sell food.
TBT: What do you think will be the big trends in the foreseeable future?
TB: People reverting back to easy drinking beers and doing everything you do to sours to some classic styles (blondes, hefes, wits).
TBT: What are some trends you think have benefited the craft beer industry?
TB: Seltzers, low cals, all around light beers. I feel fruited sours and IPAs bring people in, but thereâs only so many you can drink. I can drink PBR all day.
TBT: What are some things, aspects, or trends of the craft beer industry you donât like, or think has been a negative on the craft beer market?
TB: Oh God, well youâre in some of the same beer groups as me so you can see whatever negatives there are. I think as a brewery you always got to put your customers first, never think youâre above them or anyone. Thereâs lots of people making good beer, it doesnât mean you have to be a douchebag about it.
TBT: Is there such a thing as the âcraft beer bubbleâ and if so, do you feel like itâs going to burst â soon, in the future, or is currently happening?
TB: Are we seeing the bubble burst right now? Look how many breweries in the last year or so that closed because they got too big too quick, got locked into a distributor contract, or there was no market for their beer. One thing I want to absolutely avoid is distribution. If we ever did distro our beer we will do it ourselves. Too big or too small may be an issue going forward. However, I do think there could be a brewery in every other town and everyone could be successful. You have to pick the right location and know your market.
TBT: What are some ultimate goals you have for Pilger Ruh Brewing, for your own brewing, etc?
TB: I want to help build a community around us in Schuylkill County. We owe alot of breweries collabs, but I want to bring non beer people into the scene and get them involved. I want to show my area that a brewery like us can succeed. I want us to be able to give back to the community, make it better for others, and leave the area better than we found it.
TBT: What do you foresee being the big changes happening to the craft beer market in 5, 10, 15 years?
TB: More breweries getting bought out by the big guys and competing for shelf space while we sell all of our beer from our taproom. More seltzers and easy drinkers, fruited sours/hazy IPAs will still be here.
