Allusion Brewing Company – Facebook Post

So please come out tomorrow and meet Amy and I from 12:30ish to 3:30ish. We are coming from the Harrisburg area, so its (checks Google Maps again) a 3 hour and 47 minute drive. We are hoping to be on the road no later then 8:30 and hoping to be in Vandergrift by noon.

The party sounds like its going to be a blast, and it was so cool to get on social media today to find out they went and made their own championship belt for the appreciation party. A great piece of hardware to add to their growing pile of CBMA awards.

Can’t wait to get to see many of you tomorrow, and get to see the Allusion Brewing crew again. Last time I was there was in 2020 on a trip out to Indianapolis and stopped in. So glad I did! The beer was fantastic.

Hope to see you all tomorrow at the Appreciation Party! Cheers!

Baby’s First Ffej https://thebeerthrillers.com/2023/07/09/babys-first-ffej/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=babys-first-ffej Mon, 10 Jul 2023 01:42:00 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=11915
Scarlet’s first Ffej of July

Baby’s First Ffej

I never thought I’d bring a baby to a beer fest/local band concert festival, but here I am stroller and baby in tow.  Let me back up quick.  We quickly noticed if a song was playing somewhere, especially any singing and dancing on TV Scarlet’s face would light up.  I like to think it was all the concerts I attended, including last year’s Ffej of July when she was in the womb.  But I think it really started with Ben would sing to her through my belly every night.

Scarlet’s first Ffej of July (Friday Night, July 7th, 2023)

(You can see this, and other videos we have at our YouTube Channel here – The Beer Thrillers on YouTube.)

For the newbies; what is Ffej?  As described on the Ffej of July page “Ffej of July began its life as a modest party thrown by myself and my wife, Brandi, at our residence. The impetus for the event took shape when I realized we had a huge yard and did nothing with it other than cut the grass. So, in 2003, FOJ was born and has since become the infamous epic backyard bash we all know and love!”

(Note – this is a attendance by knowing event; you can only attend if you know someone who knows someone. If you know Ffej or know a good friend of Ffej’s you are welcome to come. This isn’t a free for all anyone can come right out the gate frat party.)

Ffej of July – Saturday, July 8th, 2023

At the last minute we brought my mom, so it was also Grandma SueAnn’s first FOJ.  With a bunch of classic rock cover bands and the entire vibe of FOJ I new my mom would love hanging out.  We got to sample beer from Bailey Mountain Brewery, Covered Bridge, Troeg’s Rusty Rail, Pizza Boy and Shy Bear.  The Bender’s Barleywine from Pizza Boy was most excellent.  It comes in on Untapped with a 11% ABV and a 4.09 rating.  Again, the Untapped score is way to low of a score.  This malty sweet beverage dances over your tongue and the caramel finish hides that sneaky 11%.  Then on Saturday we got to sample brews from Fluffy Bunny, Shy Bear, Meduseld Meadery, PA Alers, Troegs Brewing Company, and Fahnstock & Baer. (We didn’t keep a perfect list of what all we drank over the weekend, we were far too busy enjoying the music, hanging out with friends, chatting, chilling with Scarlet, enjoying the grub, and having an awesome time to worry about checking in everything we got to try on Untappd.)

Solar Federation ending Ffej of July 2023

Even though the vibe is laid back, as we all sit in our lawn chairs, Scarlet got to bang her head with a quiet riot cover and then she mellowed out to the Solar Federation.  If you are lucky enough to get invited to this private event (and remember – don’t show up uninvited – only show up if you are invited) don’t forget your lawn chair!  I hope this helped you catch the FOJ!

Drink More Beer!

Boneshire Brew Work’s 6th Anniversary Celebration https://thebeerthrillers.com/2022/10/25/boneshire-brew-works-6th-anniversary-celebration/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=boneshire-brew-works-6th-anniversary-celebration Tue, 25 Oct 2022 22:45:00 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=9843
Boneshire Brew Works Celebrates Their 6th Anniversary This Friday – October 28th, 2022

Happy Anniversary!

Lets all give a hip hip hooray for another year of Boneshire Brew Works! Its their sixth anniversary, and they are going as strong if not stronger than ever. Its so great to see them growing and getting bigger and Friday is shaping up to be another great event for them.

Pretty…. Pretty…. Pretty…. Pretty Good

Its no surprise to say we’re big fans of Boneshire Brew Works here at The Beer Thrillers. Both myself (B. Kline) and Josh (J. Doncevic) are mug club members several years going now. Amy also loves coming over to have beers (while… before she went and got herself pregnant), and Leela (the faithful four legged companion to The Beer Thrillers) loves sitting outside and watching the cars on Derry Street.

We all love going to Boneshire Brew Works’ main brewery on Derry Street in Rutherford Pennsylvania (outskirts of Harrisburg). Its a great local meet up place, a great brewery, and a very chill atmosphere, a bar where ‘everyone knows your name’. And thats one of the biggest selling points of Boneshire Brew Works, why they are such a great member of the community, and why its so wonderful to see them growing and getting to celebrate their sixth anniversary.

So let’s talk about Friday.

Friday Party

What better place to catch the World Series Game 1 at? Hopefully get to see Aaron Nola throw a perfect game against the Houston Astros maybe? Wouldn’t that be a great capper to this party!

But first, before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s talk about what Boneshire Brew Works has going on that night:

First off, you can find the event here: Boneshire Brew Works – 6th Anniversary (Facebook Events).

As their description reads:

Join us to celebrate our 6th anniversary! -Friday the 28th we will have Nate Myers
-Saturday the 29th we will have Lil Brother Band
Special Releases include:
-French Toast Dark of the Forest
-Cinnamon Bun Dark of the Forest
-Carrot Cake Dark of the Forest

Boneshire Brew Works – 6th Anniversary (Facebook Events)

They have three event pages for this weekend:

As their event page above announced, they are releasing several beers for this weekend: French Toast Dark of the Forest, Cinnamon Bun Dark of the Forest, Carrot Cake Dark of the Forest, Toasted Marshmallow Dark of the Forest, Apple Pie Sour, and a fan favorite return of Angels on the Sideline.

At last year’s release, they did a series of Shire beers that incorporated some of the above flavors (Cinnamon Bun, French Toast, etc.). You can read the review here:

Looks Like It’ll Be a Fun Event

It truly looks like it’ll be a fun event and I can’t wait. Plus, getting to see the Phillies in a World Series game for the first time since 2009 isn’t a bad thing either! Hopefully we’ll get to see you all out there. I know we’ll be there – (probably not with Leela, but maybe, who knows).

Boneshire Brew Works is Celebrating it’s 5th Anniversary https://thebeerthrillers.com/2021/10/24/boneshire-brew-works-is-celebrating-its-5th-anniversary/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=boneshire-brew-works-is-celebrating-its-5th-anniversary Sun, 24 Oct 2021 14:44:37 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=8121
Boneshire Brew Works is celebrating its 5th anniversary all Halloween weekend at their brewery on Derry Street.

Five Years

It’s hard to believe that Boneshire Brew Works is already celebrating their fifth anniversary – it honestly feels like they’ve just opened their brewery on Derry Street in Rutherford, Pennsylvania. It feels like they were just having their soft opening, sitting at the bar chatting with Alan, Alex, and Carson. And then the second day of their soft opening weekend, standing at the wall, because it was so jam packed that there was nowhere else to even stand.

And they’ve certainly come a long way too from that first soft opening day. They’ve added a second brewery – Boneshire at Soma – they’ve introduced numerous flagship favorites (like Green Machine, Testify, their LazaRIS series, the Caucus-Race series, etc.), they’ve changed the inside of their building, added food (pizzas finally!), and even survived and weathered the COVID-19 pandemic.

So its fantastic to see them still growing, still expanding, and getting to celebrate their fifth anniversary. This weekend looks like it’s going to be a blast!

Let the Party Begin!

As per yearly tradition on / around their anniversary time – Boneshire Brew Works throws a weekend party celebrating their anniversary. This year it will be Friday October 29th, 2021 through Sunday October 31st, 2021. What a perfect time to end the party – Halloween Night!

As their Facebook post reads:

Can’t believe it has been 5 years! Help us celebrate the 5 years of shenanigans starting next Friday, October 29th through October 31st. Join us for Mexican LazaRIS release, plus French Toast, Cinnamon Bun, Coconut, and Hazelnut Stouts! Food specials – Cheese Steak Pizza, Reuben Flip, and Mexican LazaRIS Chili!

Boneshire Brew Works – Facebook

Looks like quite the lineup of LazaRIS variants! Mexican LazaRIS, French Toast LazaRIS, Cinnamon Bun LazaRIS, Coconut LazaRIS, and Hazelnut LazaRIS. All sound super fantastic! (Especially – personally – looking forward to the French Toast and Cinnamon Bun ones.)

On top of this, there will be some excellent food options – Cheese Steak Pizza, Reuben Flip, and even Mexican LazaRIS chili!

And of course, this wouldn’t be a party without some live music! On Friday from 6PM to 9PM ‘Lil Brother Band’ will be in the brewery jamming out, and on Saturday from 6PM to 9PM it will be Nate Myers rocking the brewery. Be sure to check out both of them.

Its Always a Great Time

The anniversary celebrations at Boneshire Brew Works is always epic and a great time. So be sure to stop in and check it out. Past years have been amazing just as much, and I know this year’s will be too. There is so many good beer options (not just stouts – lots of other styles like IPAs and Sours as well), as well as food options, great music, and one of the most laid back and fun atmospheres. So be sure to check the party out.
