Four Seasons Brewing, out of Latrobe (greater Pittsburgh area) Pennsylvania, is currently closed. They first made a post on their social media (Facebook Post) yesterday at 2:01 PM just stating “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the pub will be closed today. We’ll see you tomorrow! 🍻” But now today, just about an hour ago they posted again, stating that they will be closed for an unforeseen while with no reopening date planned.

Four Seasons Brewing Company and Pub Announcement on Facebook

Four Seasons Brewing Company and Pub Closed Due to Forces Outside of Their Control

As of right now, we don’t have a lot of information, but it seems like the closure might be for a little while. Today at 11:13 AM they posted the following to their social media accounts:

As we’re sure most of you have heard, the brewery is closed until further notice. We do not have a reopen date, but will be sure to update once we do.
This decision was completely out of our control and we hope to have everything resolved quickly. Thanks to all of you for your continuous support over the years. We’ll see you soon 🍻
It does seem that they have a reopening in mind, and that this is temporary. How long it will be temporary is unknown, but by the sounds of this post; its not permanent.
Four Seasons Brewing Company and Pub is located at 745 Lloyd Avenue Ext, Latrobe, PA, United States, Pennsylvania. Latrobe is South East of Pittsburgh but is generally considered in the “Greater Pittsburgh” area (it is listed as being a part of the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area).
Other breweries in Latrobe are:
  • Unity Brewing
  • City Brewing Company LLC

Is it a license issue?

It doesn’t seem to be a brewery’s license issue. When we looked it up on the PLCB site we found this:

Four Seasons Brewing Company and Pub’s Brewery License

So it would appear that they currently have their brewer’s license up and set until the end of 2025. (Typically brewery licenses are yearly and run calendar year, January 1st to December 31st.)

As we find out more we will keep everyone posted here on the blog.

More Information on Four Seasons Brewing Company and Pub

The 109th Annual Pennsylvania Farm Show kicked off on January 3rd, 2025. The competition for the Best in Beer category has been an intense competition in past years. You can see the results here:

A History of Pour Man’s Brewing Company https://thebeerthrillers.com/2025/01/06/a-history-of-pour-mans-brewing-company/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=a-history-of-pour-mans-brewing-company Mon, 06 Jan 2025 14:45:00 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15903 A History of Pour Man’s Brewing Company

Pour Man’s Brewing Company has become a notable player in the Pennsylvania craft beer scene since its inception in 2018. Founded by business partners Sam Son and Ryan Foltz, the brewery emerged from their shared passion for homebrewing, which eventually led them to take the leap into commercial beer production.

Humble Beginnings

Pour Man’s opened its doors in August 2018 at 284 S Reading Road in Ephrata, PA. The original location, a former butcher shop, became the birthplace of their brewing operations and taproom. From the start, Pour Man’s focused on creating a diverse range of beer styles, with a particular emphasis on producing high-quality lagers.

Growth and Recognition

The brewery quickly gained a following for its commitment to quality and innovation. In 2022, Pour Man’s achieved a significant milestone by winning the Breweries In PA 2022 PA Beer Bracket Championship, solidifying its position as a fan favorite in the state. They also won in 2023 under the new “Malt Madness” tournament.

Expansion and Relocation

As Pour Man’s popularity grew, so did the need for more space. In late 2022, the brewery announced plans for a major expansion. This expansion included moving the taproom to a new location at 24 E Main Street in downtown Ephrata, while retaining the original building to expand brewing operations. The new taproom, which opened in 2023, is housed in a historic building dating back to 1912. Formerly home to Sprecher’s Hardware for 88 years, the 8,000 square foot space has been transformed into a modern craft beer destination. The new location features:

  • Two bars on the first floor
  • Seating for over 100 guests
  • A beer garden in the back
  • A second-floor event space with a sky-view bar overlooking downtown Ephrata
  • 20 house-made beers on tap
  • An expanded cocktail, wine, and cider list
  • A redesigned food menu focusing on locally sourced ingredients

Brewing Philosophy

Pour Man’s has built its reputation on a lager-focused brewing approach while still offering a wide range of styles to cater to various tastes. Their commitment to quality and innovation has helped them cultivate a passionate following of craft beer enthusiasts.

Community Involvement

The brewery has shown a strong commitment to community engagement. They always have a charity tap available, demonstrating their dedication to giving back to the local community. Additionally, Pour Man’s has been one of the main driving forces behind the creation of the Lancaster County Brewers Guild, further cementing their role in the local brewing scene.

Recent Developments

In a significant turn of events, Pour Man’s Brewing Company purchased St. Boniface Craft Brewing Co. in 2024. Since then, they have continued to produce Boniface beers and operate the Ephrata taproom, expanding their influence in the local craft beer market. As of 2025, Pour Man’s Brewing Company continues to thrive in its new location, offering a welcoming atmosphere for craft beer enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.

(See: Pour Man’s Brewing Acquires St. Boniface Craft Brewing Company)

Recent developments for Pour Man’s Brewing Company include:

  • Acquisition of St. Boniface Craft Brewing Co.: In April 2024, Pour Man’s Brewing Company purchased St. Boniface Craft Brewing Co., another Ephrata-based brewery. This acquisition has allowed Pour Man’s to expand its production and distribution capabilities in central Pennsylvania
  • Continued operation of St. Boniface: Since the acquisition, Pour Man’s has continued to produce Boniface beers and operate the Ephrata taproom. They have maintained the existing beer lineup while introducing some rotating new beers and potentially bringing back some past favorites.
  • Expanded distribution: With the combined production of Pour Man’s and St. Boniface, the company now plans to deliver more beer throughout central Pennsylvania4.
  • New Year’s Eve 2025 celebration: Pour Man’s participated in Ephrata’s downtown New Year’s Eve festivities to ring in 2025, showcasing their continued community involvement.
  • New beer release: Pour Man’s recently introduced a new beer called “Foltzenator,” which they promoted using the traditional German beer-heating technique known as Bierstacheln.

These developments demonstrate Pour Man’s Brewing Company’s growth, community engagement, and commitment to expanding their presence in the Pennsylvania craft beer scene.

With its rich history, commitment to quality, and strong community ties, Pour Man’s has established itself as a cornerstone of the Ephrata and broader Pennsylvania craft beer scene.

Moss Mill Brewing is Closing Their Doors on December 31st

Just earlier today, Moss Mill Brewing Company posted on their social media pages that they will be closing their doors at the end of the year – on December 31st, 2023.

Located at 109 Pike Circle, Unit D , Huntingdon Valley, PA, United States, Pennsylvania, the brewery has been a strong part of the local Huntingdon Valley community for the past 5 years. They originally opened in February 2018, but have found the last few years challenging and unable to maintain operations.

Their post on social media read:

Since we opened in 2018 Moss Mill Brewing Nick and I have enjoyed the tremendous support of this great neighborhood, our friends, our family, and all of you.

Nick and I have taken the past couple of months to reflect on our lives and those of our growing children. It is with a great deal of sadness that we announce the closing of Moss Mill Brewing at the end of this year. Our last day of operations will be December 31st.

The last several years have been a tremendous challenge. We are deeply grateful for the commitment and dedication demonstrated by our staff, some of whom have been with us since the very beginning. We’d also like to thank all of the amazing people we have had the pleasure of meeting, engaging with and getting to know. To our Collaborator Club members, it has been the pleasure of a lifetime to create something that so many of you chose to make a part of your lives. The customer support everyone has shown us over the years is truly humbling, and we cannot say THANK YOU loud enough.

We look forward to the next chapter of our lives and hope to see you all one last time before we depart. Keep an eye on our socials for specials as we get near the end.

This Saturday is Veteran’s Day – November 11th. In honor of that, and keeping with creating more and more maps for people to be able to find and decide on what breweries to visit, I decided to create a map of the breweries in Pennsylvania owned by a US Veteran.

Map of Pennsylvania Breweries Owned by Veterans

This Veteran’s Day

What better way than patronizing one of these great breweries this weekend and especially on Veteran’s Day on Saturday, November 11th, 2023? Many are also doing discounts, pay it forwards, and other programs for veterans as well. So you can both receive – as a veteran – and give to veterans. Check out the breweries’ social media pages for more information.

Maps of Breweries in the United States of America (USA)

The below is a list of maps of the states, territories, and districts of the United States. As well as a fun map of all the breweries that The Beer Thrillers have been to. I am working on getting these done geographically, starting with Maine. (When the state is underlined and in color, means the map is done and ready to be viewed.)

Cold Spring Inn and Brewery https://thebeerthrillers.com/2023/09/03/cold-spring-inn-and-brewery/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=cold-spring-inn-and-brewery Mon, 04 Sep 2023 03:50:00 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=12341 Cold Spring Inn and Brewery

It started off like we were just going to check out another brewery the both of us hadn’t been to before.  Even though it was only Thursday it was the most stressful week in a long time. We really needed a break, just a moment to relax and breath.  We had tried to catch Cold Springs Brewery before but the hours and it isn’t open all year round; our schedules just didn’t work out before.

But this past Thursday looked like it was going to work out well.  Driving to Cold Springs we hit traffic, a major accident on the highway, so I was already feeling tense.  We finally are arriving and I thought for sure a trashcan was on fire in the parking lot.  But it turns out I just need to relax more and the smoker is across the street in the parking lot.

Walking up to Cold Springs Brewery there are a couple quirky signs and a sign warning you about a 2-hour time limit at your table.  The hostess took us through the restaurant and to the very corner of the deck area in what felt like the coziest and romantic spot there.  At first, I got a lil scared, that deck is pretty high up from the creek.  I, of course, made the mistake of looking down.  But I took a deep breath and was going to ignore one of my biggest fears, heights.

Beer and Food

Cold Spring Inn and Brewery Beer List

We quickly looked over the beer menu; good selection and guest taps as well.  They also featured their House cocktails with local distillery, Dead lightning.  We picked out Miraculous McGarrity IPA and the Beerita.  Both of these tasted wonderful and set the tone for a wonderful dinner by the Creekside.

Miraculous McGarrity IPA comes in at a 7.9% ABV but it is so smooth.  There are not details listed on Untapped but the description on the menu says “Open your heart and wallet to help our cousin.  We brewed a special Hazy IPA to honor his perseverance going forward in Life” This calls for a toast to your cousin.

The Beerita is described as a fruit beer with a 5% ABV.  It is described on Untapped at “this beer started life as a blonde ale then we added copious amounts of key lime and a dash of salt for a super refreshing summer beer.  Cheers.”   Cheers indeed.  The Beerita gets an overall 3.75 rating which isn’t near high enough for a beer this thirst quenching.

Cold Spring Inn and Brewery Food and Beer

The service was great and checked in with us frequently.  When we, or maybe I should say I, ordered the food came out decent time for a busy looking Thursday evening.

We ordered the Pit chicken and the pulled pork.  Both dishes did not disappoint.  The pit chicken came with your choice of sides.  Hence surviving the stressful week, I decided to go with the French fries and the onion rings as my sides.  My Boo also went with the French fries for his side.

I am a lucky girl and got to steal his pickle and of course the Cole slaw was given directly to me, so I shared some onion rings and fed him some of my delicious chicken.  He, in return, fed me some of his pulled pork.

Good Date Night

A wonderful date night

I took a deep sigh and decided we most definitely need to visit the Cold Springs Brewery again.

Drink more Beer.

Mastic Trail Brewing Is Setting Into the Sunset – Closing on September 2nd https://thebeerthrillers.com/2023/08/10/mastic-trail-brewing-is-setting-into-the-sunset-closing-on-september-2nd/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=mastic-trail-brewing-is-setting-into-the-sunset-closing-on-september-2nd Thu, 10 Aug 2023 16:07:24 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=12219 Sailing into the Sunset

Unfortunately Mastic Trail Brewing Company is setting sail into the sunset. They announced on Facebook and Instagram that they will be closing – with their last day being Saturday, September 2nd.

Mastic Trail Brewing is located at 1044 Saxonburg Blvd Glenshaw, PA 15116 – in the greater Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area.

They are the second brewery in the greater Pittsburgh area to announce an upcoming closure (Arboretum Trail Brewing is Closing Their Taproom). The other is Arboretum Trail Brewing – which is located on Washington Boulevard in Pittsburgh, and their last day will be August 31st.

Back in September of 2022; Mastic Trail Brewing had to shut down for a short while due to staffing issues and announced soon after that they would be re – opening. Sadly it seems everything has caught up.

Mastic Trail Brewing Announcement

They went on Facebook and Instagram and posted the following announcement:

Four years ago, we had a dream – to create Pittsburgh’s Caribbean Brewpub. We’d offer a variety of outstanding craft beers, tropical cocktails like you’d find at a resort, flavorful food made from the highest quality ingredients, and we’d do it all sustainably. And we did! And now it’s time to move on.

Our last day of business will be Saturday, September 2nd. Til then, we’ll be operating as usual – same hours, with our full menu, full list of beers – plus Mango Milkshake next week! – full cocktail menu. We want to give our guests our full Mastic Trail vibe til our last day! If any of that changes, we’ll let you know, so please check back often.

Our heartfelt thanks to our staff and guests who have stood by us through all the ups and downs – you have made this the experience of a lifetime. We wish health and happiness to you all.

Victory Brewing Adding Witty Monkey https://thebeerthrillers.com/2023/08/04/victory-brewing-adding-witty-monkey/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=victory-brewing-adding-witty-monkey Fri, 04 Aug 2023 12:42:00 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=12821
Witty Monkey by Victory Brewing Company

There’s a New Monkey Coming

Victory Brewing is adding a new monkey to their extensive library. And this monkey is pretty clever. (If you take a thousand monkeys… and chain them to a thousand typewriters… how long do you think it would take til they could write out a recipe for a beer? Or maybe Shakespeare?)

This sneaky clever little monkey will be making his debut March 3rd. Look for it wherever you can find Victory Brewing. They are also releasing a mix anthology pack of various monkeys as well – including Witty Monkey, in 12 oz cans.

Victory Brewing’s Witty Monkey

Hey Hey We’re the Monkeys

…and we’re just monkeying around!

Witty Monkey will be a 9.5% Citrus Wheat Ale. The description is:

Witty Monkey used his clever curiosity to re-imagine what a citrus wheat ale could be. Loaded with sweet orange notes at 9.5% ABV (just like his Victory Monkey Siblings), Witty Monkey is bright, balanced, and will have you reaching for New Horizons.

Look for Witty Monkey coming March 3rd to a beer distributor near you.

More Information on Victory Brewing Company

The following comes from Untappd. Victory Brewing Company is a regional brewery from Downingtown, PA. They are a subsidiary of Artisanal Brewing Ventures and are considered a regional brewery. They have 918 unique beers with over 2.8 Million ratings with a global average rating of 3.67 (as of 8.4.23). Their Untappd description reads: Co-founders Bill Covaleski and Ron Barchet The story of Victory Brewing Company starts on a school bus in 1973 when fifth-graders Ron Barchet and Bill Covaleski stepped aboard, on their way to a new school. The two became fast friends and remained so, even as they grew up and went to college on opposite coasts. Just months out of college, Bill’s appreciation of good beer and access to his father’s home brewing equipment inspired him to explore the hobby. That same year (1985), Bill gave Ron a home brewing kit as a Christmas gift. With that, both Bill and Ron developed their love of the craft, and a friendly rivalry grew between the two. The good-natured competition pushed Bill and Ron to become accomplished.

Pennsylvania has emerged as a craft beer lover’s paradise, boasting a thriving beer scene that stretches from the bustling streets of Philadelphia to the picturesque landscapes of Pittsburgh. With an abundance of talented brewers, innovative beer styles, and unique taproom experiences, the Keystone State offers a beer pilgrimage like no other. In this article, we’ll take you on a journey to explore Pennsylvania’s top craft breweries that are a must-visit for any beer enthusiast.

Troegs Independent Craft Brewing – Brewery located in Hershey, PA

Craft beer in Pennsylvania has experienced a remarkable renaissance in recent years, solidifying the state’s reputation as a powerhouse in the craft brewing industry. The history of brewing in Pennsylvania dates back centuries, with early German immigrants bringing their brewing traditions to the state. This heritage laid the foundation for a beer culture that has flourished and evolved over time.

Pennsylvania is home to an impressive number of craft breweries, ranging from small, neighborhood nano-breweries to large-scale production facilities. The state’s diverse geography and rich agricultural resources contribute to the wide array of ingredients and flavors found in Pennsylvania beers. Local breweries take pride in using locally sourced hops, grains, and even fruits to create unique and distinct brews that showcase the region’s agricultural bounty.

Brew Gentlemen in Braddock, PA

One of the key factors driving the success of Pennsylvania’s craft beer scene is the strong sense of community and camaraderie among brewers. Collaborations between breweries are common, fostering a spirit of creativity and innovation. Beer festivals and events, such as Philly Beer Week and Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week, further strengthen the bonds within the brewing community and provide opportunities for beer enthusiasts to sample a vast selection of beers from across the state.

Brewers in the state are constantly exploring new techniques, flavors, and styles, resulting in a diverse and ever-evolving beer landscape. From juicy hazy IPAs to complex barrel-aged stouts, Pennsylvania’s craft breweries offer a wide range of options to suit every palate.

Moreover, the craft beer movement in Pennsylvania has not been limited to the major urban centers. Breweries have sprouted up in small towns and rural areas, revitalizing communities and providing unique gathering spaces. These breweries often prioritize sustainability, community engagement, and local partnerships, reflecting the values of the regions they call home.

The Beer Thrillers are a blog that prides itself on writing beer reviews, brewery reviews, travelogues, news (especially local to the Central PA brewery scene), as well as covering other topics of our interests – such as hiking, literature and books, board games, and video games which we sometimes stream with our friends over at Knights of Nostalgia. We are currently listed as #7 on FeedSpot’s “Top 100 Beer Blogs” and #8 on FeedSpot’s “Top 40 Pennsylvania Blogs”. (As of January 2023.) Thank you for reading our site today, please subscribe, follow, and bookmark. Please reach out to us if you are interested in working together.
