Aurochs Brewing Company Announce Their Upcoming Closure

Aurochs Brewing Company Will Cease Operations by End of 2024

Aurochs Brewing Company located at 8321 Ohio River Blvd, Emsworth, PA 15202 will be ceasing operations by the end of 2024. Its the start of the new month, but sadly also the beginning of the end for Aurochs Brewing Company. Over 10 years in business (established in 2012) and unfortunately they have had to make the tough and difficult decision to close by the end of the year. Known as one of the only gluten-free producing breweries not just in Pennsylvania, but in the greater east coast region; Aurochs Brewing made a name for themsleves over the 12 years of their operations.

Aurochs Brewing Company

Aurochs Brewing Company, located just outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, specializes in crafting naturally gluten-free beers. Founded by Ryan and Doug, both of whom have personal experiences with gluten intolerance—Ryan diagnosed in his twenties and Doug with Celiac disease since childhood—the brewery was born from a desire to create flavorful craft beers that are safe for those with gluten sensitivities. Since its inception, Aurochs has produced over 40 different styles of gluten-free beer, focusing on high-quality ingredients such as millet, quinoa, and buckwheat sourced from dedicated gluten-free suppliers.
The brewery has gained recognition for its commitment to quality and taste, winning a Gold Medal at the 2020 Great American Beer Festival for its Aurochs Hazy IPA. Their core lineup includes six year-round offerings: Aurochs Blonde Ale, Session IPA, Amber Ale, Porter, Light Lager, and Hazy IPA. Each beer is brewed in a dedicated gluten-free facility, ensuring that all products are free from wheat, barley, and rye. This meticulous process not only guarantees safety for consumers but also emphasizes the brewery’s mission to provide great-tasting beer without compromise.
In addition to their brewing operations, Aurochs has embraced modern distribution methods by offering direct shipping within Pennsylvania and expanding to neighboring states. The brewery’s taproom invites visitors to enjoy a variety of beers on draft alongside gluten-free snacks. With a focus on community and sustainability, Aurochs Brewing Company continues to grow its customer base while maintaining its commitment to producing exceptional gluten-free craft beer for all occasions.

Aurochs Brewing Closing by End of 2024

The Announcement

Aurochs Brewing Company posted the following on social media just two hours ago:

The End of our Story
Thank you for your support of Aurochs Brewing Company through its existence. Over 10 years ago, we set out with the goal of “changing the way the world experiences gluten-free beer”. In that time we have seen that happen many times over and are extremely grateful to have been one part of that larger evolution.
Today, it is with a heavy heart that we announce that Aurochs Brewing Company will be ceasing operations by the end of the year 2024.
We are proud to have brewed great-tasting, award-winning, naturally gluten-free beers that have resonated with many of you. Through your patronage we have been able to grow our footprint and meet the needs of gluten-free beer drinkers across our region.
With the help of our amazing staff and supporters we have given this endeavor everything we have. After years of hard work, countless late or sleepless nights, navigating the challenges of a global pandemic, and the rigors of building and scaling a dedicated gluten-free brewery our founder team has run out of gas. Although the brewery continues to grow in our home market, we do not have the personal resources to go to the next level or to continue operations beyond this year.
We are eternally grateful to our customers, partners, investors, and employees (past and present) who have made this journey so special. From the moment we opened our doors 10 years ago, you have shown up consistently, supporting Aurochs and pushing our dream forward.
We plan to open our tasting room while there is still beer available. We will communicate about hours of operations and opportunities to purchase the last batches of Aurochs.
Additionally, beer will be available for shipping throughout Pennsylvania only while supplies last. Any orders placed this weekend will be shipped out on Tuesday (11/5) with tracking information.
Thank you for taking this journey with us, thank you for your passion and support.
Doug & Ryan

Howling Henry’s Not Looking to Finish Out the Year https://thebeerthrillers.com/2023/09/11/howling-henrys-not-looking-to-finish-out-the-year/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=howling-henrys-not-looking-to-finish-out-the-year Mon, 11 Sep 2023 20:55:00 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=12409 2023 Might Be the End for Howling Henry’s Brewery

It is looking like 2023 might be claiming another brewery. Sadly, in a recent post in a Facebook beer group asking about Howling Henry’s Brewery – the owner responded saying that they will not be getting a new taproom and that they will likely be done by the end of 2023.

The question posed in the group was: “Does anyone know if Howling Henry’s is open in any capacity?

The owner of Howling Henry’s Brewing LLC – Greg Schertzer responded: “Unfortunately, I don’t have plans to be open past this year. I do not have a tap room at the Klick Lewis Arena anymore. I have cases available for delivery, but I have no plans to open a new taproom.

Howling Henry’s Brewing LLC

Howling Henry’s Brewing LLC originally started in Hummelstown, brewing from the old Theo’s warehouse at the corner of 2nd Street and Duke Street. They sold kegs and bottles to various local bars and restaurants and distributors.

One of his earliest beers was – BOPA – Basil Onion Pale Ale.

They then opened a tap room location on 2nd Street in Hummelstown – 35 East Second Street, Hummelstown PA, 17036.

Brewery Opening – Howling Henry’s Brewery in Hummelstown. The Hummelstown taproom was opened in October of 2020 – amidst the pandemic – and about the same week as the Rubber Soul Brewpub opening (also in Hummelstown).

Around early June 2022, Howling Henry’s moved to the Klick Lewis Arena in Annville. Its a part of the sports complex in the Annville – Palmyra area called “In the Net”. At one time there was a building in the complex that housed Snitz Creek Brewery’s (original) second location. The tap room location for Howling Henry’s was in the hockey arena, and overlook area.

Closing Down

Greg Schertzer announcing Howling Henry’s taproom will not be returning.

It would seem in the last few months Howling Henry’s Brewing LLC has lost their location at the Klick Lewis Arena and are no longer there.

This was their second tap room – after the one in Hummelstown closed.

As he said in the Facebook beer group’s post – he doesn’t have any plans to stay open past this year (2023). He also states that he has no plans on re – opening any tap rooms or having a new tap room going forward. He does state that he has cases available for delivery.

Which sounds like he is completely shutting down Howling Henry’s Brewing LLC and closing shop, and will no longer be brewing.

Howling Henry’s has been a staple at Hummelstown events like the Winter Fling for several years now (probably dating back to 2017 or 2018), as well as some local brew fests like the Mount Hope Renaissance Faire brew fest held yearly in Manheim. They also went to a few other brew fests in the area (I believe the Lititz Brew Fest, the Auto Ales at the AACA Museum, the Fort Hunter Dauphin County / Harrisburg brew fest, and the PA Flavor event at the Harrisburg Farm Show complex). It is a shame to see a community friendly brewery – business – close its doors, and its a shame to see any person’s dream project come to an end.

We would like to wish the best for Greg, and everyone else involved with Howling Henry’s Brewing LLC. We hope its not the end of the road, but understand that sometimes it is. We wish the best to all involved going forward.

Cold Spring Inn and Brewery https://thebeerthrillers.com/2023/09/03/cold-spring-inn-and-brewery/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=cold-spring-inn-and-brewery Mon, 04 Sep 2023 03:50:00 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=12341 Cold Spring Inn and Brewery

It started off like we were just going to check out another brewery the both of us hadn’t been to before.  Even though it was only Thursday it was the most stressful week in a long time. We really needed a break, just a moment to relax and breath.  We had tried to catch Cold Springs Brewery before but the hours and it isn’t open all year round; our schedules just didn’t work out before.

But this past Thursday looked like it was going to work out well.  Driving to Cold Springs we hit traffic, a major accident on the highway, so I was already feeling tense.  We finally are arriving and I thought for sure a trashcan was on fire in the parking lot.  But it turns out I just need to relax more and the smoker is across the street in the parking lot.

Walking up to Cold Springs Brewery there are a couple quirky signs and a sign warning you about a 2-hour time limit at your table.  The hostess took us through the restaurant and to the very corner of the deck area in what felt like the coziest and romantic spot there.  At first, I got a lil scared, that deck is pretty high up from the creek.  I, of course, made the mistake of looking down.  But I took a deep breath and was going to ignore one of my biggest fears, heights.

Beer and Food

Cold Spring Inn and Brewery Beer List

We quickly looked over the beer menu; good selection and guest taps as well.  They also featured their House cocktails with local distillery, Dead lightning.  We picked out Miraculous McGarrity IPA and the Beerita.  Both of these tasted wonderful and set the tone for a wonderful dinner by the Creekside.

Miraculous McGarrity IPA comes in at a 7.9% ABV but it is so smooth.  There are not details listed on Untapped but the description on the menu says “Open your heart and wallet to help our cousin.  We brewed a special Hazy IPA to honor his perseverance going forward in Life” This calls for a toast to your cousin.

The Beerita is described as a fruit beer with a 5% ABV.  It is described on Untapped at “this beer started life as a blonde ale then we added copious amounts of key lime and a dash of salt for a super refreshing summer beer.  Cheers.”   Cheers indeed.  The Beerita gets an overall 3.75 rating which isn’t near high enough for a beer this thirst quenching.

Cold Spring Inn and Brewery Food and Beer

The service was great and checked in with us frequently.  When we, or maybe I should say I, ordered the food came out decent time for a busy looking Thursday evening.

We ordered the Pit chicken and the pulled pork.  Both dishes did not disappoint.  The pit chicken came with your choice of sides.  Hence surviving the stressful week, I decided to go with the French fries and the onion rings as my sides.  My Boo also went with the French fries for his side.

I am a lucky girl and got to steal his pickle and of course the Cole slaw was given directly to me, so I shared some onion rings and fed him some of my delicious chicken.  He, in return, fed me some of his pulled pork.

Good Date Night

A wonderful date night

I took a deep sigh and decided we most definitely need to visit the Cold Springs Brewery again.

Drink more Beer.

Sadly… Sometimes the Show Must End

In rather shocking news, about a half hour ago Liquid Noise Brewing Company, out of Marysville Pennsylvania, has announced that they will be closing their doors and will be having one final show. No closing date has been announced yet, but they just posted on Facebook and Instagram encouraging their fans and guests and customers to use their trivia winnings and gift cards.

They were just about to make it to their third year anniversary.

Liquid Noise’s Message

The brewery’s post on their social media just about a half hour ago reads:

From a worldwide pandemic to loss of loved ones, Liquid Noise pushed through, but it saddens us to announce that just shy of our 3-year birthday our tour has come to an end. We will be closing our doors sometime in December. We will continue to operate our currents days and hours until our closing date is announced. We value all the new friends that we have made during our journey and appreciate all the loyal friends that have shown their support for us.

We encourage you to please use any gift cards or trivia winnings at this time until we announce our final show date.

If you have any special photos or memories of your times at Liquid Noise please share them on this post! Remember….keep an eye out for our last day and specials that are on the way!!

On behalf of the entire Liquid Noise Family we THANK YOU!! It has been one heck of back stage tour! CHEERS AND KEEP ON ROCKING & CRAFTING LIKE A ROCKSTAR!! 🤘🍺🎤🍻

Liquid Noise Brewing Company – Facebook Post

Liquid Noise Brewing Company

Liquid Noise Brewing Company was the first brewery in Marysville Pennsylvania, and for the longest time was the only brewery running in Perry County, Pennsylvania.

As per Untappd:

They are a micro brewery out of Marysville, Pennsylvania with 176 unique beers and 8,128 ratings. They have a global average rating of 3.78 (as of 12.5.22). They have no listed bio or description on Untappd.

For more information on Liquid Noise Brewing Company:

They were a regular stop and visit for Josh, as well as myself, and later Amy as well. Leela was also a big fan of sitting out front (she especially enjoyed getting to “steal” french fries from me). Its really a shame to see the brewery announce that they will be closing. This comes off the recent news of both Rocket Frog Brewing Company (in Virginia) announcing their closure, as well as myself being informed that Burd’s Nest Brewing Company (in Carlisle, Pennsylvania) will also be shuttering their doors.

End of the Year

Hopefully this trend of breweries closing at the end of the year won’t continue, and hopefully its not a sign of the “craft beer” and “craft brewery” bubble and marketplace collapsing and bursting like everyone talks about happening. Fingers crossed at any rate.

Thanks For Reading

Sad news to end the day on. We (Amy and myself… and Leela too) loved going to Liquid Noise. So did Josh I know.

Hopefully this will be the last brewery closure post I’ll have to make (for a long, long, long time). And we wish the best and good luck to all involved with Liquid Noise Brewing Company moving forward.

Goodnight everyone.

Cheers All.

Big Nib Energy

(Big Nib Energy pictures from Second Sin Brewing Company’s Facebook post)

The next beer that we’d like to announce was brewed before our first anniversary! Big Nib Energy is a strong ale that is a blend of Barleywine and Imperial Stout aged in a single Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrel for 22 months. Tasting this beer every few months for the last almost two years has been a wild ride. Each time we revisited the beer, new layers were developed from the slow oxidation through the oak.

When we finally removed the beer from the barrel, we selected some lovely single origin Ecuadorian cacao nibs from @etherealconfections to condition it on. The resulting beer is dense and complex, with an upfront sweetness, bourbony oak, and a raisin dark fruitiness, complimented by a slightly drying cacao flavor.

We’re very excited to share this beer with you all, and as an additional experience we have a limited number of chocolate bars from Ethereal, made from the same nibs that went into Big Nib Energy. The very dark chocolate balances amazingly with the sweetness of the beer. We will be selling bottles solo, or as a package with a bar of chocolate.

Come out on Wednesday 11/23 at noon to get your hands on some!

Snow Bird Sour

Without further ado we present the final 3rd Anniversary Release:⠀

Snow Bird Sour – Sour Ale with Banana, Pineapple, and Coconut⠀

It’s around that time of year that many, the so-called “Snow Birds” in our area, start migrating Southward. We brewed this beer as one last tropical fling before we’re plunged into the bitter cold of Winter, and as a reminder of warmer days.⠀

This beer as well as the 3 beers mentioned over the last few days will be available on draft and to go on Wednesday 11/23 at noon. This is a party you won’t want to miss!⠀

Thanks For Reading

Once again, I would like to thank you all for reading! Cheers to Second Sin Brewing Company for their 3rd Anniversary! We’re hoping in 2023 (or maybe even in December of 2022, who knows), that we’ll get to come out and finally visit their brewery in Bristol. They have sent us some wonderful care packages in the past including the Phantasm Menace, Kolsch, and Dragged into Sunlight that we reviewed.

Tomorrow is also Drinksgiving (or Thanksgiving Eve). What is everyone getting into? With Scarlet Emma I don’t think we’ll be getting into anything, but who knows. Then of course on Thursday is Thanksgiving and we’ll be going over to my sister’s, and then on Friday we’ll be having a family party at my parent’s. So next few days should be pretty busy.

We are planning trips to both Jackass Brewery to get to try out the Pulisic Pilsner as well as a trip out to The Alementary in Hackensack New Jersey, so we’ll be sure to write and post about that all as well.

As always, thanks for reading, and Happy Thanksgiving and Drinksgiving everyone!

Cheers!

Troegs Independent Craft Brewing Adds 1,628 Solar Panels To Their Brewery https://thebeerthrillers.com/2021/12/18/troegs-independent-craft-brewing-adds-1628-solar-panels-to-their-brewery/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=troegs-independent-craft-brewing-adds-1628-solar-panels-to-their-brewery Sun, 19 Dec 2021 02:35:00 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=8451
A screenshot of the video Troegs Independent Craft Brewing posted on their Facebook page today.

Going Solar

Troegs Independent Craft Brewing made a special post on their Facebook page today – highlighting their continued attempt to go more green. Troegs had announced earlier in the year and more recently about adding solar panels to the top of their brewery located in Hershey (right next to the Hershey Outlets, past Hershey Park on Hershey Park Drive). As it seems from their announcement today that project is complete.

15-20% of Annual Needs

If you follow this link you’ll see the Facbook post with the video (which is where the screenshot above comes from) here: Troegs Independent Craft Brewing – Solar Panels. The video is a sort 25 second clip that loops on their Facebook page. It is accompanied by a quote by Chris Trogner. Their post reads:

We now have 1,628 solar panels up and running on our roof here at Tröegs. “They’ll cover about 15-20% of our annual needs,” says founding brother Chris Trogner. “We’re making incremental changes to decrease our environmental impact. It all adds up.” #WeMakeTroegs #Hershey #Troegs #PAbeer

Troegs Independent Craft Brewing – Facebook Page

Additions

In recent years, the Troegs Brewery has gone through a myriad list of improvements and changes. Recently including a large mural on the side of the building, as well as an enlarged parking lot, a new loft drinking lounge area, an enlarged biergarten out front, and numerous brewhouse changes. One of the most notable updates and add-ons to the brewery was their Foeder barrels as well as their art gallery.

Troegs Independent Craft Brewing is known for their tour guides and is one of the largest breweries in Pennsylvania. As anyone who has seen the facility knows, it uses quite a fair bit of power. (As do all breweries, especially ones the size of Troegs.) So reducing the usage of outside power by 15-20% is a huge addition to the ever evolving and growing brewery. Troegs Brewing also has their own blog which details many of these changes, which can be found here: Troegs Blog.

Thanks For Reading

As always everyone, thanks for reading. December has certainly been a chaotic month here for us at The Beer Thrillers. Including many travels and trips, hikes, and brewery visits. It has certainly been a packed full month. Be sure to be checking in with us to read all about it!

Cheers All!

ZeroDay Facebook Page

This is big time exciting news for the Harrisburg brewery and fans of the ZeroDay brand – and frankly – fans of good beer. They are consistently top of their class and one of the best breweries in the Central PA area.

The New Tap Room

The new tap room will be open seven days a week, and will have a seating capacity of 150 people. This gives the brewery a lot more room and time than their old location. There is indoor an outdoor seating. They also have a private event space for parties, gatherings, and other social events, this can seat up to 60 people. There is also expansion to their brew house with the new move; which includes a small experimental 3 barrel system for trying and experimenting with new beers and styles. Similar to their old tap room, the brew house will be viewable from their tap room, allowing guests to view and watch the brewing process. They also have a cellar for fermentation and barrel aging projects.

The old facility and tap room will now be completely and only for beer production. This allows them to have even greater capacity and growth in the beer market. The old tap room now houses a larger brewhouse as well as a canning line for distribution.

ZeroDay Brewing Company Growth

2020 has certainly been a challenging year for all of us, especially the brewing market. It has seen a lot of closures, staffing reductions, shrinking of companies, and loss of breweries. But thankfully ZeroDay Brewing has been expanding. While they spent the majority of 2020 constructing this new tap room, they also used their Broad Street Market (the ZeroDay Outpost) to keep operating, and and they are also looking to be opening their newest location in Linglestown. They currently still have their location at the Midtown Cinema (a second Outpost) as well. This is located on Reily Street in Harrisburg.

Their brand new location today opens at 925 N. 3rd Street in Harrisburg, PA, at 11AM. Their Midtown Cinema location is at 250 Reily Street in Harrisburg, PA.

For more information on ZeroDay Brewing and their Grand Opening, you can check out their media pages:

Thanks for reading everyone, and can’t wait to get out and check out the new tap room. And to think, after April 4th, we can be having some beers at the bar together! Until then, stay safe everyone, Prost!

Sign of the Horse is Expanding – Taking over the old Miscreation Brewery https://thebeerthrillers.com/2021/01/18/sign-of-the-horse-is-expanding-taking-over-the-old-miscreation-brewery/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=sign-of-the-horse-is-expanding-taking-over-the-old-miscreation-brewery Mon, 18 Jan 2021 15:21:57 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=7207
Sign of the Horse Brewery

Yesterday on Facebook – Sign of the Horse Brewery announced that they would be expanding – into the old Miscreation Brewing Company’s building.

It wasn’t long ago (just on January 10th, 2021) that Miscreation Brewing announced their closure. You can see our article on that here: Miscreation Brewing Company is Closing its Doors. Many comments from the local people online were wondering what would come of the brewery building, as its a fantastic location, already has a kitchen / restaurant, and has the equipment and space for a brewery. And just a week later, we already have our answer! Sign of the Horse Brewery will be moving on in.

Miscreation Brewing Company had used the building and brewed out of there for nearly six years. The Hanover location sits on 6 Center Square, Hanover PA 17331. The main street of the town. With ample street parking, it is a wonderful location.

A New Beginning For the Old Building

Its great to see the building get a new beginning and a new chapter to its life. And its also great to see the restaurant / building stay in the ‘craft beer family’.

Untappd lists Sign of the Horse Brewery as a micro brewery from Hanover PA. It has 58 unique beers with 4K+ check ins and has a global average rating of 3.74 (as of 1.18.21). Their current brewery is located on 979 York Street, Hanover PA 17331. It is a brewery, American restaurant, and bar. They have a 13 tap bar with 12 of their own taps and one guest cider tap.

The current goal and game plan for the Hanover Downtown location – the old Miscreation Brewery – is to have it opened on March 31st, 2021. From their press release, they will be honoring all of the old and outstanding gift cards for Miscreation Brewery as well as hosting a “guest tap celebration” for Miscreation Brewing from January 21st through January 23rd (Thursday – Saturday).

Sign of the Horse Brewery Expansion

The Sign of the Horse Brewery Facebook post announcing their expansion.

Sign of the Horse Brewery is expanding!

We are excited to announce Sign of the Horse Brewery is expanding our operations. We have purchased Miscreation Brewing Co and will be adding a second location. Before talking about what is going to happen going forward, We would like to spend a moment looking back.

This is a bittersweet time for us. Although we are excited about what the future may hold for us, we are saddened by the loss of Miscreation Brewing Co. Miscreation has been a part of the downtown community for several years. They deserve a lot of credit for the revitalization of downtown. They are a well-respected business and will be missed. We are humbled that they chose to sell their business to us. We do not take the trust they have put in us, to ensure we maintain what they have worked so hard to establish in the community, lightly. We pledge to work everyday to represent them and the community in a way that Hanover can be proud of and build on what they have started.

We have an internal goal of opening the downtown location March 31st. Details will be coming soon as to what that will look like. In the meantime, we are going to have a “Miscreation” tap takeover at our Sign of the Horse Brewery location January 21st-23rd. We will have several of Miscreation’s customer favorites on tap. During those days we will honor all Miscreation’s outstanding gift cards. This will be the final opportunity to utilize their gift cards. Continue to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for exciting updates as we go through this process.

Sign of the Horse Brewery Facebook Page

Be sure to follow their social media pages (and website) to stay up to date on the Sign of the Horse Brewery and their expansion. This is an exciting time as their brewery is growing and expanding. They have been getting rave reviews from many in the lower Central PA area online; saying that they are pumping out some phenomenal beers.

Its a tough time for breweries to be growing and expanding, but there are several that have announced expansion and growth plans – places like Levity, Little Fish, etc. (You can see links to articles about them down below.) Its also been a tough time with several breweries announcing their closures (the obvious Micreation Brewing, Spigot Brewing, River Bend Hop Farm and Brewery, and several others – you can see links to articles about them below as well.)

We wish the best in the future endeavors of the Miscreation Brewing family, as well as wish all the best for the growth and continuation and expansion of the Sign of the Horse Brewery and look forward to seeing what they have in store for the Hanover area and for the craft beer community as a whole!

As always, please like and follow and subscribe to The Beer Thrillers. Any comments, questions, or concerns, please leave in the comments. Would love to hear from you all. We have just expanded and moved the site to the new host and domain, so I’m hoping all of the glitches and things have been caught, but if you see any at all, please let us know. We also have a Contact Page with a form to e-mail us on the sidebar. Also be sure to check out our social media links and follow us on the various platforms.

Stay safe and healthy, and as always, Cheers and Prost!

Miscreation Brewing is Closing It’s Doors in Hanover https://thebeerthrillers.com/2021/01/10/miscreation-brewing-is-closing-its-doors-in-hanover/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=miscreation-brewing-is-closing-its-doors-in-hanover Mon, 11 Jan 2021 03:49:00 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=7023
Miscreation Brewing Company LLC

Sadly, another brewery is shuttering its doors for the last time. 2020 (and now 2021) has not been kind to a lot of breweries. From normal strain of business, to the economics of a pandemic, to shut downs and lock downs, to the craft brewery market blowing up and there being a new brewery nearly every other block, there has sadly been a lot of brewery closings in the past 365 days.

A few other breweries have shuttered their doors this year citing “coronavirus / COVID-19” and lock-down and shut down issues as the impetus for their closings. Spigot Brewing and River Bend Hop Farm and Brewing both closed in 2020 stating COVID-19 reasons. And this is just Pennsylvania. There has been many others across the country )and the world) that have closed citing similar reasons. (Mikkeller in NYC closed this year – permanently as well.)

Miscreation Brewing’s Facebook post on December 28, 2020

On December 28, 2020, just before New Years, during the second shut down in Pennsylvania for breweries and entertainment establishments (casinos, restaurants, gyms, etc.) they posted the above message. Saying that effective Thursday December 31st they would be closing until further notice.

Earlier today (January 10th, 2021) Miscreation Brewing Company LLC posted the above message on their Facebook page.

It reads:

It is with great sadness that after almost 6 years, Miscreation Brewing Company will be closing its doors. Due to the financial burdens that COVID-19 has inflicted into our business, we must make this very difficult decision. We understand although this will impact many of our faithful followers/patrons, we take solace in knowing we have fostered many friendships over the past 5-1/2 years that will last a lifetime. We played a part in other introductions and in some cases even a place for first meetings that have ended in marriage! We can’t express enough gratitude to our many employees/team members over the years for their dedication, contributions to the vision and ultimately the customer experience.Additionally, we are pleased that we were able to contribute to the revitalization of downtown Hanover and partner with Main Street to bring a vibrant experience to so many.We would like to wish continued success to our fellow breweries in the area: Something Wicked Brewing (Great collaborators and friends of ours from inception), Aldus Brewing Co., Center Square Brewing, Sign of the Horse, Warehouse Gourmet and of course The Circle! We would like to offer all Mug Club members an opportunity to come by and pick up their mugs and enjoy a beer on us until we kick the final keg that is tapped. This will be available during the following hours:

Friday January 15th from 5:00-8:00 pm

Saturday January 16th from 12:00-3:00 pm

Thanks for all your support over the years and we wish each of you the best in 2021 and beyond! Miscreation Ownership and Team!– Cheers.

A loss to Hanover Pennsylvania

This is certainly a loss to Hanover Pennsylvania and the craft brewing industry and local area. They have had a great following in the town of Hanover and a strong presence in the community since 2015.

Last year on a trip with a friend into York and Hanover we got to stop there, and enjoy some beer at their location, before taking a four pack to Codorus State Park.

We here at The Beer Thrillers wish them good luck in their future endeavors. We also hope something good comes to the business front, perhaps another brewery, or fine restaurant, as the location is a wonderful spot and could serve a new brewery or restaurant perfectly.

This is indeed tough times for many small businesses, breweries, restaurants, and people in general. We all need to support each other and these businesses and breweries we want to survive the upcoming year. We are seeing the end of the tunnel and the light is on; vaccines are being sent across the country, relief looks to becoming for some small businesses and restaurants, and hopefully more in the future.

So I urge everyone who can, go out and support your local businesses and breweries. Buy to go food or a four pack at your favorite small craft brewery, take it home, talk them up with your friends, give them good reviews on social media, share their posts, help get their names out there.

Likewise, if you are a struggling brewery or restaurant or business and we here at The Beer Thrillers can help you, reach out to us, and see what we can do to help. We would love to help out!

Stay safe everyone. Mask up, wash your hands, and support and love each other. This has certainly been a tough time, but we are nearing the end, lets stay strong!

Cheers!
