Today Is the Grand Opening of Forest and Main Brewing’s New Pub Location https://thebeerthrillers.com/2021/11/09/today-is-the-grand-opening-of-forest-and-main-brewings-new-pub-location/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=today-is-the-grand-opening-of-forest-and-main-brewings-new-pub-location Tue, 09 Nov 2021 19:15:00 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=8228
The new Forest and Main Brewing Company Pub location opens today in Ambler, PA.

Forest and Main Brewing Company Expanding

Forest and Main Brewing Company is expanding, adding a second location, this time a Pub location at 33 Butler Avenue in Ambler, Pennsylvania. They will be opening their doors to their brand new location today at 4PM. This is their first expansion, they are planning a second expansion as well (a third location) soon.

Forest and Main Pub

Their new pub location will be located at 33 Butler Avenue in Ambler, Pennsylvania. This was the sight of the former Ambler Skate Shop and Ambler Apparel. Its a smaller restaurant / bar type location (thus the name – “pub”). It looks down to earth and homie and cozy. Like small bed and breakfast or houses turned to restaurants in smaller towns (think of The Warwick Hotel in Hummelstown). It is about 1000 square feet in total restaurant space and can host 50 guests / customers.

Exterior of their new Pub location today – Forest and Main Brewing Company’s Pub location opens today at 4PM.

There is no kitchen, so it is a pub in the strictest sense. There is seating at a bar for up to 12 people. The bar area does have an impressive array of various taps (side pulls, cask, etc.), so it looks like you will get the full taproom experience at the pub location.

Forest and Main Brewing Company Expansion

Forest and Main aren’t done expanding yet. They have plans and are going to be expanding with a 15BBL brewing system in another location, making their second brewery location. This one, will be located just a short bit north of the Pub location; at 241 North Main Street, Ambler, Pennsylvania.

Forest and Main Brewing Company is known for their saisons, IPAs, and lagers. So these additional locations should better let them grow, showing off their unique style of beers and tasty creations. Stay up to date by checking out their social media pages.

Aslin Beer Co. Coming to Pittsburgh https://thebeerthrillers.com/2021/09/13/aslin-beer-co-coming-to-pittsburgh/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=aslin-beer-co-coming-to-pittsburgh Tue, 14 Sep 2021 02:43:43 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=7970
Aslin Beer Company’s Instagram Post Today – 9.13.21

Looks Like Aslin is Moving into Pittsburgh, PA

Well, for all intents and purposes, it looks like Aslin Beer Company is moving into Pittsburgh. They posted the above image to their Instagram page (Aslin Beer Co. Instagram) earlier today, with the caption that shows a pin and says “1800 Smallman St” with the “looking” eyes emoji.

After this was posted, and then re-posted, and then re-posted, and again re-posted, in several Facebook groups, and online message boards, several “people in the know”, stated how “finally the cat is out of the bag”. So it looks like, without saying it, their saying it. And it seems to be happening.

1800 Smallman Street, Pittsburgh, PA

Sorry for the quality of the pics, but Google Maps was giving some trouble in screenshotting. But these give you an idea of the map and area of Pittsburgh where Aslin hinted at in their Instagram post.

According to the Google Maps street view, its down the street from The Church Brew Works, and it looks to be close to Insurrection Ale Works Tap Room. (In the first pic, screen shotted from the mobile Google Maps app, the beer mug is the Insurection Ale Works Tap Room, and the red pin is 1800 Smallman Street.)

Pittsburgh is home to numerous breweries, including mentioned Church Brew Works, Insurrection Ale Works, as well as Brewery Gentleman, ShuBrew, Penn Brewery, Cinderlands, Dancing Gnome, Couch Brewery, Hitchhiker, Grist House, and many more.

So this will certainly be a wonderful addition to the brewery scene in Pittsburgh. Ryan Galiotto commented about the “cat being out of the bag” now today about Aslin expanding into Pittsburgh, and pointed out that they are a part of the ‘Drink the Table’ brewfest in Pittsburgh on November 6th. Ryan is the founder and head of Fueled by Hops LLC and community.

News About the Brewery

There has been no word yet on the construction or anything more substantial than this Instagram post and the comments made by several people. So timescale on construction, opening dates, or anything more than that. But when news becomes available, we’ll be posting it here, so be on the look out.

Sign of the Horse is Expanding – Taking over the old Miscreation Brewery https://thebeerthrillers.com/2021/01/18/sign-of-the-horse-is-expanding-taking-over-the-old-miscreation-brewery/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=sign-of-the-horse-is-expanding-taking-over-the-old-miscreation-brewery Mon, 18 Jan 2021 15:21:57 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=7207
Sign of the Horse Brewery

Yesterday on Facebook – Sign of the Horse Brewery announced that they would be expanding – into the old Miscreation Brewing Company’s building.

It wasn’t long ago (just on January 10th, 2021) that Miscreation Brewing announced their closure. You can see our article on that here: Miscreation Brewing Company is Closing its Doors. Many comments from the local people online were wondering what would come of the brewery building, as its a fantastic location, already has a kitchen / restaurant, and has the equipment and space for a brewery. And just a week later, we already have our answer! Sign of the Horse Brewery will be moving on in.

Miscreation Brewing Company had used the building and brewed out of there for nearly six years. The Hanover location sits on 6 Center Square, Hanover PA 17331. The main street of the town. With ample street parking, it is a wonderful location.

A New Beginning For the Old Building

Its great to see the building get a new beginning and a new chapter to its life. And its also great to see the restaurant / building stay in the ‘craft beer family’.

Untappd lists Sign of the Horse Brewery as a micro brewery from Hanover PA. It has 58 unique beers with 4K+ check ins and has a global average rating of 3.74 (as of 1.18.21). Their current brewery is located on 979 York Street, Hanover PA 17331. It is a brewery, American restaurant, and bar. They have a 13 tap bar with 12 of their own taps and one guest cider tap.

The current goal and game plan for the Hanover Downtown location – the old Miscreation Brewery – is to have it opened on March 31st, 2021. From their press release, they will be honoring all of the old and outstanding gift cards for Miscreation Brewery as well as hosting a “guest tap celebration” for Miscreation Brewing from January 21st through January 23rd (Thursday – Saturday).

Sign of the Horse Brewery Expansion

The Sign of the Horse Brewery Facebook post announcing their expansion.

Sign of the Horse Brewery is expanding!

We are excited to announce Sign of the Horse Brewery is expanding our operations. We have purchased Miscreation Brewing Co and will be adding a second location. Before talking about what is going to happen going forward, We would like to spend a moment looking back.

This is a bittersweet time for us. Although we are excited about what the future may hold for us, we are saddened by the loss of Miscreation Brewing Co. Miscreation has been a part of the downtown community for several years. They deserve a lot of credit for the revitalization of downtown. They are a well-respected business and will be missed. We are humbled that they chose to sell their business to us. We do not take the trust they have put in us, to ensure we maintain what they have worked so hard to establish in the community, lightly. We pledge to work everyday to represent them and the community in a way that Hanover can be proud of and build on what they have started.

We have an internal goal of opening the downtown location March 31st. Details will be coming soon as to what that will look like. In the meantime, we are going to have a “Miscreation” tap takeover at our Sign of the Horse Brewery location January 21st-23rd. We will have several of Miscreation’s customer favorites on tap. During those days we will honor all Miscreation’s outstanding gift cards. This will be the final opportunity to utilize their gift cards. Continue to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for exciting updates as we go through this process.

Sign of the Horse Brewery Facebook Page

Be sure to follow their social media pages (and website) to stay up to date on the Sign of the Horse Brewery and their expansion. This is an exciting time as their brewery is growing and expanding. They have been getting rave reviews from many in the lower Central PA area online; saying that they are pumping out some phenomenal beers.

Its a tough time for breweries to be growing and expanding, but there are several that have announced expansion and growth plans – places like Levity, Little Fish, etc. (You can see links to articles about them down below.) Its also been a tough time with several breweries announcing their closures (the obvious Micreation Brewing, Spigot Brewing, River Bend Hop Farm and Brewery, and several others – you can see links to articles about them below as well.)

We wish the best in the future endeavors of the Miscreation Brewing family, as well as wish all the best for the growth and continuation and expansion of the Sign of the Horse Brewery and look forward to seeing what they have in store for the Hanover area and for the craft beer community as a whole!

As always, please like and follow and subscribe to The Beer Thrillers. Any comments, questions, or concerns, please leave in the comments. Would love to hear from you all. We have just expanded and moved the site to the new host and domain, so I’m hoping all of the glitches and things have been caught, but if you see any at all, please let us know. We also have a Contact Page with a form to e-mail us on the sidebar. Also be sure to check out our social media links and follow us on the various platforms.

Stay safe and healthy, and as always, Cheers and Prost!

Yuengling Looks to Go West – Into Texas https://thebeerthrillers.com/2021/01/14/yuengling-looks-to-go-west-into-texas/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=yuengling-looks-to-go-west-into-texas Thu, 14 Jan 2021 18:12:42 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=7040
Yuengling’s Hershey Chocolate Porter – poured at Boneshire Brew Works in 2019

“Go West, young man, and grow up with the country.”

Horace Greeley (Hints Toward Reforms) [1850]

Go west ‘young Yuengling’ and grow up the brewery. In news today, America’s oldest active brewery, Pennsylvania native from Pottsville Pennsylvania, D.G. Yuengling & Son Inc. is expanding westward – into Texas. The aim is for the expansion to be completed by year’s end of 2021.

Currently Yuengling has a 22 state shipment and footprint, mostly along the East Coast of the United States. They have production facilities in Pennsylvania (Pottsville) and Florida (Tampa Bay area). This move would ensure they expand their reach, with the millions that live in Texas and neighboring areas.

“We have heard from consumers all over the country who are excited to enjoy our beer, which is why we’re proud to announce that Texas will be the first western state we’ll be expanding to,” said Wendy Yuengling, Chief Administrative Officer and 6th generation family member, D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. “We are working hard to ensure our recipes and brewing traditions will be followed to our high-quality standards. We have passionate Yuengling fans in Texas, so we are excited to finally bring them the goods.”

Yuengling Is Growing

Yuengling Traditional Lager (photo courtesy of Yuengling’s Website)

In 2020 D.G. Yuengling & Son Inc. and Molson Coors launched a joint long-term brewing relationship – The Yuengling Company. (September, 2020). This is their first expansion since this relationship was announced. In 2019, Yuengling first released their collaboration with Hershey’s Chocolate Company – the Hershey’s Chocolate Porter (Yuengling). It was first released draft only to select bars, restaurants, and breweries in 2019, and then released in bottles and draft in 2020; it has come to some acclaim among many beer drinkers, Hershey’s fans, and Yuengling fans, although those in the craft beer industry have stated that the beer comes up a bit short of most craft brewery offerings, but have said they still enjoyed the beer ‘for what it is’.

(SEE OUR BEER REVIEW OF THE YUENGLING HERSHEY’S CHOCOLATE PORTER)

The beer will be brewed locally, in Fort Worth, at the Molson Coors brewery located there. The brewery opened on September 26th, 1969. Its located at 7001 South Fwy, Fort Worth Texas, 76134. And this will be the third production facility or Yuengling Brewing.

Gavin Hattersley, the President and CEO of Molson Coors said: ““We are excited to take the first step in our long-brewing partnership, a step that will provide tremendous growth opportunity for Yuengling and Molson Coors. By brewing Yuengling’s iconic beer at our world-class Ft. Worth facility, we are going to make a lot of Texans happy.”

No word on what all brands and beers and styles will be brewed at the location. Most likely the Traditional Lager will be brewed there. Amongst more than likely others of their celebrated list (such as their Black and Tan, Oktoberfest, and numerous other offerings).
