So day two of found me waking up just outside of Washington PA and beginning my day with a trip to Oglebay park to hike the Driehorst Trail.

Oglebay Park – Driehorst Trail

My first stop for the day took me just outside of Wheeling, West Virginia for a beautiful little hiking trail as part of the Oglebay Park. There I hiked the Driehorst Trail, as well as walked around the Falls Vista trail, the junction, and around the education center. Absolutely beautiful area and it looked like there was still so much more to see and do there especially for families with children.

Brewkeepers

My first brewery stop of the day was inside Wheeling, WV itself. In a quaint little area filled with antique markets and all kinds of things was a spot called Brewkeepers. People were watching the game on the TV at the bar and had it filled up, so I grabbed a Rauchbier – Scut Farkas – and sat in the back corner and read.

Wheeling Island Casino and Racetrack

On my way to get into Ohio, I crossed off Wheeling Island. Which is pretty much like what City Island is to Harrisburg. And with a casino there, I had to stop. As a former table games dealers any time I see a new casino, I always have to poke my nose in there and just take a look around. While inside I enjoyed an IPA by Big Timer. (And yes, thats the beer name – IPA.)

Belmont Brewerks

My first brewery into Ohio for the year and its near the very end of the year. In Martins Ferry, Ohio, is Belmont Brewerks, and from the sounds of the nearby people its more known for its food than its beer, but both were quite good. I had the Italian Sausage Sandwich for food, and for beer I had their Belmont Stout.

Hightower Brewing Company

Up a winding road in Rayland, OH, after crossing train tracks and death defying turns, you’ll reach Hightower Brewing Company, which had possibly the happiest and nicest brewer / bartender I’ve seen all trip. There I had The Great Punkin Charlie Brown Ale and Stumpdweller English Brown Ale.

Squids Brewery LLC

After this I reached Toronto, OH. Already on my list, but also recommended by the brewer at Hightower Brewing Company, Squids Brewery LLC was a rocking jamming frat party place and atmosphere at 5 PM on a Saturday night at the end of November. I had the Knotty But Nice stout and made my way back into Pennsylvania.

Coal Tipple Brewing

Back into Pennsylvania, I reached Burgettestown. At the Kramer Farms is a little brewery called Coal Tipple Brewery. Inside what looks like it could pass as an Amish road-side greenhouse and novelty shop (ok… not Amish, but maybe Mennonite), was a fabulously delicious Peanut Butter Porter.

Helicon Brewing

Planning on making the brand new Grist House Command Station my last spot I made my way there, but just before reaching there I found Helicon Brewing. Who am I to pass up the chance at trying another brewery? Inside I found myself chatting up sports with a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and another local who seemed to foster the complete Philadelphian style attitude for his Steelers. They also had a delicious Dunkel Lager.

Grist House Brewery – Command Station

Just recently opened (Grist House Brewery Command Station Opening), the Grist House Brewery’s Command Station used to be a missile command site. And boom (see what I did there?) they had me instantly with a Black IPA – Hops of Darkness. And damn was it explosively good. (Ok…. I’ll stop there.) I also got a thing of fries and made my way to my hotel for the night.

Tomorrow will be my last day on the trip and the last day in the area before heading back home. No plans and not quite sure where I’ll end up tomorrow. Planning on possibly Lincoln Avenue Brewery, and maybe the new(ish) Allusion Brewing Taproom. Especially since they won our 2025 Battle of the Breweries championship. But who knows, weather also doesn’t look the greatest, and it is a four some hour drive home.

When a place you’ve been raising pints at for years closes its doors—without much warning—it cuts deeper than you’d expect. That’s exactly what happened on—and yes, I’ll say it—Saturday, August 16, 2025. That day marked the final pouring for one of Cincinnati’s most storied staples in the craft beer world: Listermann Brewing Company.

A Sudden Farewell, A Lifetime of Flavor

On Friday, August 15, 2025, the taproom, nestled at 1621 Dana Avenue in Evanston, posted a heartfelt message:

“Tomorrow, Saturday, August 16th, will be our final day of operations. We are deeply grateful to our amazing staff, loyal customers and community… You’ve been part of our story, and it’s been an honor to share our beer and our space with you.”

They didn’t lay out a reason why they had to close—and that silence echoes even louder in this town. The beer scene here has taken hit after hit lately—Brews like Humble Monk, 16 Lots, Taft’s, and even BrewDog Cincinnati have faded from the taplines this year alone.

What Made Listermann More Than Just a Brewery

To really get what we’ve lost, you have to go way back. The name “Listermann” started as Dan Listermann’s homebrewing gear business in 1991—not as a brewery, but a beacon for homebrewers, who’d gather, curious and tinkering. By 1994, it evolved into a full-blown homebrew shop; and by 2008, they’d flashed a brewery license and launched the Listermann Brewing Company on that same Dana Ave campus.

This place was a workshop, a classroom, a microbrewery, and a community hub—all rolled into one. Any local brewer you ask? There’s a good chance they got their first gear, their first guidance, their first inspiration right here.

Passing the Torch—Then the Lights Go Out

Founders Dan and Sue Listermann stepped back in 2023, handing the reins to Terrie and Steve Ipson. In January 2024, the new team opened a taproom kitchen—adding food, giving explorers one more reason to stay.

It all seemed like a path to longevity. But then August 2025 arrives, and bam: the beer stops flowing.

What Now for the Craft Community?

With Listermann gone, what’s next for Cincinnati’s beer lovers? We’ve lost a pioneer—but maybe, just maybe, that vacuum will spark the next wave. There’s a lot of spirit, literally and figuratively, in this town. I still believe—knowing this crowd—the drought won’t last. In the meantime, let’s raise a final pint to Listermann: to the memories, the homebrews born here, the casual chats over new taps, and the sense that this place, in its unassuming glory, wrote a massive chapter in our local beer history.

There’s nothing quite like the marriage of two of America’s greatest obsessions: football and beer. Whether you’re tailgating in the parking lot hours before kickoff, grabbing a cold one while cheering from the stands, or yelling at your TV from the comfort of your couch — beer is part of the NFL experience.

But if you’re heading to a game this season, you might want to check your wallet before you order that pint. Because depending on where you are, you could be paying as little as $6.80 or as much as $16.49 for a single 16-ounce beer. And if you’re unlucky enough to be in Philly, you might even see $18.50 staring back at you from the concession stand menu.

So let’s dive into the full stadium-by-stadium beer price breakdown for the 2025 NFL season.

The league-wide average price for a 16-ounce beer in NFL stadiums sits right around $9.76, based on the most recent available data from the 2024–2025 season. This figure reflects standard draft pricing — not the inflated “premium” options you might encounter in certain stadiums.

Beer Price Leaders and Losers

• Most Expensive: Washington Commanders — $16.49 for a 16 oz pour. That’s nearly the price of a six-pack at your local craft beer shop.

• Most Affordable: Cincinnati Bengals — $6.80, proving that the Queen City still knows how to take care of its fans.

• Biggest “What the Hell?” Moment: Philadelphia Eagles — $11.24 standard… but an $18.50 Miller Lite made headlines this preseason.

Why the Huge Price Differences?

A lot of factors go into these prices:

• Market size and cost of living (New York, LA, DC tend to be pricier)

• Team ownership philosophy (some owners see concessions as profit goldmines, others try to keep them affordable)

• Stadium contracts with vendors and distributors

• Fan demand and willingness to pay

And of course, once you’re in the stadium, they’ve got you. No outside beverages allowed, and unless you’re nursing a $6.50 bottle of water, you’re paying the going rate for beer.

A Craft Beer Fan’s Perspective

Here at The Beer Thrillers, we’re all about quality, variety, and flavor. So when I see someone dropping $16 on a watery macro lager, my beer-loving heart hurts. That same $16 could get you a hazy IPA from a local brewery, a barrel-aged stout, or three pours at your favorite taproom.

That said… when you’re in the middle of a roaring stadium, your team is in the red zone, and the crowd is electric — maybe, just maybe — the beer tastes a little better (even if your wallet feels lighter).

Final Take

Beer prices in NFL stadiums are going nowhere but up. If you’re a die-hard fan, budget accordingly. If you’re a craft beer drinker, maybe save your serious sipping for the pregame tailgate or post-game brewery stop.

Either way, beer and football aren’t breaking up anytime soon.

Hulk Hogan on the RAW Debut on Netflix

Hulk Hogan and his Real American Beer brand are facing a lawsuit filed by Michelle Harlukowicz, an Akron, Ohio resident, who alleges negligence after being struck by a beer can during a promotional event. The incident occurred on August 19, 2024, at Thirsty Cowboys, a live music venue in Medina, Ohio.

Incident Details

Harlukowicz claims she attended the event to see WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan when an unopened can of beer was thrown into the crowd, hitting her on the forehead. The impact caused a severe injury that required 10 stitches and has left her with permanent scarring. Her attorney, Eric Tayfel, described the injury as significant, stating, “It’s unconscionable to think that you’re going to go to a bar to see a celebrity and end up being pelted with a can of beer”.

The lawsuit, filed on February 10, 2025, alleges that Hogan and other unnamed promoters were tossing beer cans into the crowd to promote Real American Beer. It is unclear whether Hogan himself or another promoter threw the can that caused the injury. Medina Township Police responded to the scene but did not file charges due to the inability to determine who was responsible for throwing the can.

Legal Claims

The lawsuit accuses Hogan and his team of negligence for failing to ensure the safety of event attendees. Harlukowicz is seeking damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, emotional distress, and permanent disfigurement. Attorney Tayfel emphasized the need for accountability, stating that companies should not permit full cans of beer to be thrown into crowds.

Real American Beer’s Response

As of now, neither Hulk Hogan nor Real American Beer has issued a public statement regarding the lawsuit. The brand has gained popularity since its launch in 2024 and is a sponsor of WWE events.

Broader Implications

This incident raises questions about safety protocols at promotional events. While tossing items into crowds is common at such gatherings, throwing heavy or potentially dangerous objects like unopened beer cans poses significant risks. Harlukowicz’s lawsuit highlights the importance of balancing fan engagement with attendee safety. As this case develops, it may bring more scrutiny to promotional practices involving physical giveaways at events.

Species X Beer Project Has Just Announced They Are Closing

Just moments ago Species X Beer Project has announced that they will be closing. (This article will be going live at 1:30 PM and the announcement was made at 1:00 PM). We announced their opening – Species X Beer Project Opening in Columbus – on January 24th, 2024.

The Species X Beer Project was located at 408 N Front St. Columbus, OH 43215.

This is extremely sad, and very indicative of the beer culture and landscape currently. Sadly more and more of these stories are becoming more and more common place across America. From the larger regional and big breweries down to the small local town craft beer pubs.

We would like to wish the best for all involved in their future endeavors.

With a heavy heart, we will be officially closing Species X Beer Project permanently as of today, Thursday, October 3rd, 2024.

The current state of the industry is a hard pill to swallow. This, combined with cut-throat competition from both well established large and local breweries, made for a perfect storm shortly after opening our doors earlier this year. Befriending local EDM groups, local tech companies, local streamers, local universities, and having other events certainly helped, but it unfortunately was not enough to keep the business thriving.

I am beyond grateful and proud of my hard working team, and I am forever grateful to our families, friends, associates, investors, fans, and customers for the unbelievable amount of support in making my dream come to life.

Which brings me to my next point: If you are a local brewery, restaurant, or bar looking to hire people PLEASE REACH OUT AND INTERVIEW MY TEAM. They are skilled, passionate, and know how to get things done.

I hope we left a lasting legacy despite our short lifetime here, and I have some little side projects in mind to keep it alive in one form or another – be-it by another name and/or another form.

I had the time of my life living out my dream this year, and thank you all for the support.

Urban Artifact Brewery, Cincinnati Ohio.

Cincinnati, OH – Urban Artifact, a renowned brewery in Cincinnati’s Northside, has taken legal action against Pennsylvania’s Liquor Control Board, challenging the state’s restrictive policies on online beer sales.

For nine years, Urban Artifact has been delighting customers across multiple states with its unique fruit-flavored beers. However, the brewery has encountered significant hurdles when attempting to expand its distribution to Pennsylvania, particularly concerning its monthly and quarterly club membership cases.

The crux of the issue lies in Pennsylvania’s stringent regulations. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board stipulates that out-of-state breweries can only ship a maximum of 90 ounces of beer per month into the state. Additionally, these breweries must hold a retail or wholesale license – requirements not imposed on in-state breweries.

Jeffrey Jennings, the attorney representing Urban Artifact, argues that these regulations are inherently discriminatory. “What’s happening here is really unfair to out-of-state businesses. You shouldn’t be discriminated against just because you’re located in a different state,” Jennings stated.

Scotty Hunter, CFO of Urban Artifact, voiced his frustrations, highlighting the impact on small businesses. “We can only directly sell online to about eight states currently; Ohio and Kentucky are two of those, which is great for our region, but there should be much broader access, especially for a small business like us,” Hunter explained.

Urban Artifact’s lawsuit underscores a growing concern among out-of-state breweries facing similar challenges. The outcome of this case could set a significant precedent for interstate commerce and the craft beer industry.

For now, beer enthusiasts in Pennsylvania may find it challenging to access Urban Artifact’s beloved brews, but the brewery’s fight for fair treatment continues, with implications that could resonate across the craft beer landscape.

Urban Artifact is located at 1660 Blue Rock St, Cincinnati, OH 45223. We got to visit their brewery back in November 2020 as part of my trip to and from Indianapolis, IN. Was one of my favorite breweries of the trip, and I was so glad to find them soon distributing to Pennsylvania (shortly after I got back home they started). Humble Monk Brewery, a well-known Cincinnati craft brewery in the Northside neighborhood, has announced an unexpected move due to “unforeseen circumstances.” According to a recent Facebook update from the brewery, the owners are actively searching for a new location but have not yet confirmed where the brewery will be relocating.

The brewery has been given a deadline of June 22 to vacate its current premises, adding urgency to the search for a new home. Despite the relocation challenges, fans of Humble Monk can still enjoy their favorite brews, as the brewery will continue selling its craft beer through packaged cans and kegs. In addition, merchandise remains available for purchase online.

Brink Brewing Co. Expands Production and Patio Space in Cincinnati’s College Hill

Brink Brewing Co., an award-winning Cincinnati craft brewery, is nearing completion of a significant expansion at its College Hill location. The project includes a new production space, a dedicated canning line, a barrel-aging room, and a larger patio, with construction expected to wrap up this summer.

Located at 5905 Hamilton Ave., Brink Brewing is expanding into the adjacent building at 5909 Hamilton Ave., adding an additional 2,400 square feet to its current 3,200-square-foot space. This expansion will enable the brewery to significantly boost its production capacity and packaging capabilities.

Brink initially considered expanding outside College Hill, but after discussions with the College Hill Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation (CHCURC), they decided to keep the investment local. According to Andrew McCleese, founder and director of operations, “We explored opening a second location, but the costs were high. Instead, we opted to grow right here in College Hill.”

The brewery officially purchased the adjacent building in September 2023, and construction began shortly after. The $300,000 project includes a $180,000 investment in new equipment like a canning labeler, palletizer, walk-in cooler, and pallet stacker. The expansion is expected to allow Brink to produce 85% of its beer in-house, up from just 30% in previous years.

Production Boost and Future Plans

In 2023, Brink Brewing produced 1,200 barrels of beer, ranking as the 18th-largest brewery in the Cincinnati area. With the new canning line and additional space, the brewery plans to produce up to 900 barrels in-house, continuing its relationship with Impact Brewing for contract brewing of its flagship IPA and core brands.

“We’re leaving room to add more tanks in the future if needed,” said McCleese. “This expansion gives us flexibility to grow our production and canning operations as demand increases.”

Increased Distribution and Visibility

Thanks to a new partnership with Heidelberg Distributing, Brink Brewing has significantly expanded its brand presence. The brewery’s products can now be found in Great American Ball Park and at major events like Taste of Cincinnati, further boosting its visibility in the region.

Brink has also seen success in retail, securing placements in 72 Kroger stores by 2021, alongside multiple awards, including three consecutive Great American Beer Festival gold medals for its Moozie milk stout. The brewery has been recognized as the Best Very Small Brewery in the United States two years in a row.

Expanded Patio and Community Growth

Brink’s expansion isn’t just about production. Its patio space is doubling in size to 3,000 square feet, providing a more inviting space for guests. This upgrade is part of a collaboration with CHCURC and Cincinnati’s outdoor improvement program.

“We were one of the first businesses to invest in College Hill when there wasn’t much happening here,” said McCleese. “It’s been incredible to grow alongside the neighborhood.”

Brink Brewing Co. opened its doors in 2017, founded by Jack Duncan, Mark Landers, and Kelly Montgomery, who turned a homebrewing hobby into an award-winning brewery. McCleese, a long-time friend, joined early on, helping the brewery maintain its focus on small-batch, organic growth.
