We are working on a massive project here at The Beer Thrillers. We are creating a map of all of the breweries across the United States. State by state we are adding maps of all of the different states with every brewery in each state. (We will eventually get to the US Territories, as well as the Canadian Provinces, and possibly more countries; as well as doing some fun maps like a map of all the breweries we’ve been to, and other fun maps.) You can find the brewery maps here:

We are also working on a project of creating printable and downloadable PDFs and resources to be able to check and keep track of all of the breweries you’ve been to. So stay tuned for that project once we are finished with the Brewery Maps of the US States.

Kennett Brewing Company Announces Closure

Just a bit ago on their social media accounts – Kennett Brewing Company announced that they will be closing. Located at 109 S Broad St #2, Kennett Square, PA 19348, Kennett Brewing Company has been a staple of Kennett since their inception. A big part of the Kennett Brewfests, as well as being a cornerstone of the community.

Announcement

Their announcement reads:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closing of KBC just shy of our 9th birthday. Thank you to all of our supporters, regulars and loyal customers. To say we’ve been touched by many is an understatement. It’s been a wild, beautiful ride. But we’re tired, ready to close this chapter and eager to move on to the next. Cheers to all!

Kennett Brewing Company – Facebook Post

Closings

They are but one of a few (or more like a handful) of recent brewery closings – in just Pennsylvania alone. Including Willow Creek Brewing Company, amongst others. There have been some announcements of new openings and expansions, so its not all gloom and doom for the craft brewing community. But all of these brewery closings are a loss to the community, to their neighborhoods, to the workers, to the owners, and to craft beer drinkers. We need to help encourage, support, and visit small independent breweries as much as possible.

The first report came in at 6:30PM today – Monday January 25th, 2021; a loud bang – explosion – followed by a fire began in the Victory Brewery and Tap Room located at the 600 Block of West Cypress Street in Kennett Square.

A witness on hand described it as: “All of a sudden the building splits open and a fireball shoots out of the corner.”

Victory Brewing’s Chief Marketing Director Derek Detenber issued a statement: “”Tonight, around 6:30PM there was an explosion and fire in the 600 block of W Cyprus St in the building where the Victory Brewing Company – Kennett Square taproom is located. Our taproom was closed for business today, so no customers or team members were in the building at the time of the incident.”

In the immediate aftermath no injuries or deaths were reported. In the local area, 55 customers were out of electricity as a result of the fire as reported by PECO. As of the time of this article, investigators are looking for a cause for the fire and explosion, but nothing has been stated as to the cause yet.

There are apartment buildings above the brewery and tap room.

Our taproom was closed for business today, so no customers or team members were in the building at the time of the incident. We now have a team on site and are working with the fire and police departments to gather information around this unfortunate incident. We are not aware of any injuries that were uncovered during the initial investigation. We will continue to work with authorities and with the Red Cross to learn more about what occurred this evening and how we can help our neighbors in the building who have been displaced. For now, we are praying for the safety of those involved and want to thank the first responders who quickly arrived on site, safely aided in the evacuation of the building and are working to control the fire.”
