The Lewisburg brewery has teased and now announced that they will be adding a second location in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The Northcentral PA group that first teased and showed the above picture, released a report that then Jackass Brewing corroborated and shows that they are indeed expanding into Williamsport. The Northcentral PA report can be found here: Northcentral PA Report – Williamsport.

The new brewery location will be at 301 W. Third Street in Williamsport. This puts them just seven minutes away from New Trail Brewing, and just two minutes away from Bullfrog Brewery.

Williamsport Pennsylvania is quickly becoming a brewery destination spot – with New Trail Brewing, Bullfrog Brewery, Boom City Brewing, Rosko’s Brewhouse, Riepistine’s Brewpub, Therapy Brewing, and now Jackass Brewery. Excluding Therapy Brewing – in nearby Montoursville – all of the other breweries are located in Williamsport and are within a total driving distance of 18 minutes (stopping at each spot). With Therapy Brewing added to the mix it comes out to 41 minutes. You can see a map of these breweries – including the new Jackass Brewery – here:

Jackass Brewing Company

Jackass Brewery opened in March of 2020. Started by home brewers Larry Winans and Skip Kratzer. They quickly became a popular destination spot in Lewisburg PA. Their spot in Lewisburg is a 7 BBL brewery.

The following comes from Untappd:

Jackass Brewing Company is a micro brewery from Lewisburg, PA. They have 97 unique beers and over 12,000 ratings for a global average rating of 3.7 (as of 11.13.23). Their Untappd description is blank.

We are working on a massive project here at The Beer Thrillers. We are creating a map of all of the breweries across the United States. State by state we are adding maps of all of the different states with every brewery in each state. (We will eventually get to the US Territories, as well as the Canadian Provinces, and possibly more countries; as well as doing some fun maps like a map of all the breweries we’ve been to, and other fun maps.) You can find the brewery maps here:

We are also working on a project of creating printable and downloadable PDFs and resources to be able to check and keep track of all of the breweries you’ve been to. So stay tuned for that project once we are finished with the Brewery Maps of the US States.

National Bartenders Day https://thebeerthrillers.com/2022/12/02/national-bartenders-day/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=national-bartenders-day Fri, 02 Dec 2022 23:48:06 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=9958
Happy National Bartender’s Day!

Happy National Bartenders Day

What is one of the most vital and key part to any brewery experience you are going to have today (or any day)? The bartender (or beertender) of course! And today is the day to appreciate all of their hard work!

Secretaries get a day, nurses get a day, grandparents get a day, mothers get a day, fathers get a day… bartenders certainly deserve a day for themselves as well!

A Bartender’s Job

A bartender is many things, and all of them at once. They are:

  • A cocktail maker
  • A beer pourer / deliverer / know – it – all
  • A showman (or showoman)
  • A conversationalist
  • A therapist
  • A “drunk or not” meter
  • A bullshit detector
  • A car key holder
  • First line of defense against date rape
  • Entertainer
  • Listener
  • Politics / Religious / Bullshit “Break-er-upper”
  • “Just F**KING Google it* yeller
  • Yes, we have 40 different beers on tap – but go ahead and just pick the highest ABV – thought but not spoken person
  • Tongue Biter
  • Sex Object For All Men (Regardless of Gender)
  • Menu dispatcher
  • “Favorite Food” Depository
  • “Favorite beer” Depository
  • “Favorite drink” Depository
  • The person who has to put up with you…
  • The person who has to put up with your drunk ass…

Whew! Thats a lot of job titles to pack into one person!

Tip… Tip… Tip Again

Since I started working at the casino and finding myself in the service industry twelve years ago, I learned something very important. If you can’t tip 25% of your meal / order / drink tab; then you shouldn’t be going out. So thus; you should always be tipping 25%. Minimum. Honestly, the “going rate” of 15% is beyond old and out – dated. The new rate should be 25%.

We can have debates all day and all night til both sides are blue in the face on the idea of “should tipping still be a thing” or not; but here in America – it is still very much a thing. So do it. And do it well. Not because you want better service, or because you deserve better service, but because its the thing to do. Go that little bit of an extra mile. It won’t hurt anything.

Look at it this way – let’s say you get a 30$ total on your order. That breaks down to:

  • 30 x .15 = 4.50$
  • 30 x .20 = 6$
  • 30 x .25 = 7.50$

So going from the “going rate” or “standard” of 15% to 25% only cost you an extra 3$ on a 30$ meal / order / tab. If you legitimately couldn’t afford that extra 3$; then why are you out at a bar, brewery, distillery, or restaurant?

Tonight

We (Amy and myself – with Scarlet) recently went to the Jackass Brewery and the Selinsgrove Brewery. At both locations I gave my 25% tip – even on top of buying a 12$ crowler at Jackass Brewery. I know a lot of people don’t tip on buying 4 packs or getting beer handed to you over the counter; but you still should. People still put in the work, still gave up work time, etc to get you that beer or food.

Tonight I’ll be stopping out at The Pour House to celebrate my sister Liz’s 41st birthday. (Thank goodness she doesn’t read my blog or she’d be pissed about seeing this here). Most likely we are just going to be (safely, Ubering involved) drinks and karaoke. (There is a good chance with enough shots I might do another rendition of Brittney Spear’s ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ or another favorite of mine – ‘Barbie Girl’). But I know we will all be tipping 25%.

And now…. this:

Bartender Memes

Hope you enjoy and have a bit of good humor! Appreciate your bartenders, beertenders, and general brewery, distillery, bar, and restaurant staff. They are all working hard for you to have a good time!

Thanks For Reading

Once again, thanks for reading! Let me know in the comments who your favorite bartender or beertender is! Show them some love! Give them a shout out!

Cheers All!

A Road Trip To Rickett’s Glen https://thebeerthrillers.com/2020/06/13/a-road-trip-to-ricketts-glen/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=a-road-trip-to-ricketts-glen Sat, 13 Jun 2020 14:32:27 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=3328
A waterfall at Rickett’s Glen State Park.

As I did last summer when I took my daughter’s on a road trip across Pennsylvania (from Hummelstown up to Elk Country, to Kinzua Bridge, down to Pittsburgh, to Bushy Run, and then back home), which I covered (slightly) here on the blog, I will be doing the same tomorrow – when I take a road trip with my friend Ming up to Rickett’s Glen State Park to hike and check out the waterfalls.

We will be making a few stops along the way, and seeing a few different breweries, but not a whole lot, and due to the coronavirus / COVID-19, practices and things will be a lot different. There won’t be any brewery tours, and there won’t be as much to do, just outdoor seating. So it will certainly be interesting.

We’re also not sure yet what all breweries we are going to be visiting. (So if you have any suggestions, be sure to list them here in the comments section).

Some breweries we are looking to stop at are:

  • Selinsgrove Brewing (if open)
  • Jackass Brewery
  • Isle of Que Brewing
  • Eclipse Craft Brewing
  • Old Forge Brewing
  • Turkey Hill Brewing

And if we stray the area a bit, and go into Williamsport area we might check out New Trail Brewing. But we’ll see; the main reason for the trip is the park and the hike, so the breweries are secondary, and with it being a Sunday (and due to the current ongoing crisis) most places will have limited hours (many closing by 6PM), so we’ll see.

Fingers crossed for beautiful weather and a lovely day, and to check out some nice places and drink some good cold beer. Today, I am meeting my sister and her son at Colonel Denning (taking my daughters with). Not a whole lot brewery wise in the area, but maybe we’ll stop somewhere on the way home, who knows. Trying to get some things in, as it looks like June 19th I might be going back to work (Dauphin county goes ‘green’ on June 19th). So looks like my furlough will soon be up; meaning its time to get everything done quickly!

Cheers everyone, and stay tuned after tomorrow to see what’s up and what we got done! Make sure to check in and see!
