Fuzzy Few Festival

Previously known as the Fuzzy Few Carnival, this year the Fuzzy Few Organization is renaming and rebranding it as a Festival rather than a carnival.

For the past 56 years it has been the Fuzzy Few Carnival and has happened near or around the middle of August every year. With the Hummelstown Fireman’s Carnival happening in the end of June each year.

Unfortunately, as with most things – COVID – 19 changed a lot of the way events, activities, and things like this work. And with all of that it became harder and harder for the Fuzzy Few Organization (FFO) to be able to secure carnival groups to come help assist their carnival each year. Last year they were unable to have rides and other vendors due to this, but they did procure some inflatable activities and playground stuff for children.

(See last year’s article: Fuzzy Few Organization Presents the Fuzzy Few Festival With Beer Garden 2024.)

So pivoting for 2023 they announced the Fuzzy Few Festival (instead of the Fuzzy Few Carnival).

Now in its second year as the Fuzzy Few Festival, it returns for 2024 from August 12th through August 17th.

It will run from August 11th through August 16th 2025 at Schaffner Park (Boro Park).

Beer Garden

The Beer Garden has moved from the caged in basketball courts to right directly in front of the band stage – and as a bonus – they will allow guests to purchase the alcohol and move about the festival rather than having to stay within the basketball court like last year.

Known beer will be Troegs Independent Brewing (who has graciously donated eight [8] cases of beer to the event) – Perpetual IPA, Sunshine Pilsner, and Graffiti Highway IPA – as well as Blue Moon, Coors Light, and Miller Lite. (More could be announced.) Also on top of beer there is mixed drink, wine, cocktails, and select other beverages.

Pentagon

Unfortunately this year, there will be no Pentagon, as they retired last year after the Fuzzy Few Festival 2024.

Amy and the Alzheimer’s Association

Make sure you stop out to visit Amy at her Alzheimer’s Assocciation stand. (I’ll also be helping out a few nights after work). Raising awareness for Alzheimer’s and for the Alzheimer’s Association.

She will have a stand at the Festival, so you can stop in, talk with her (or us) and hang out, and get information, fliers, pamphlets and information about Alzheimer’s, the Alzheimer’s Association, and their work raising awareness, looking for a cure, charitable work, as well as the upcoming End ALZ Walks.

History of Fuzzy Few Organization

The founding of the Organization, know as the Fuzzy Few, came about during Hummelstown’s 200th Anniversary. It was formed as a Bearded Brothers Club to participate in that celebration. The organization’s official emblem was registered and approved on December 29th, 1963. The emblem also indicates the clubs desire to promote goodwill and fellowship not only within the organization but also throughout the community and surrounding areas.

Beer Review: Leaf Seeker IPA (Troegs Independent Brewing) https://thebeerthrillers.com/2025/08/07/beer-review-leaf-seeker-ipa-troegs-independent-brewing/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=beer-review-leaf-seeker-ipa-troegs-independent-brewing Thu, 07 Aug 2025 21:53:31 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=16566 Beer Review: Leaf Seeker IPA by Troegs Independent Brewing

Happy National IPA Day, everyone!

You know, there’s no shortage of IPAs in the world. From the hazy juice bombs of New England to the palate-wrecking resin bombs of the early West Coast era, we’ve seen the IPA evolve into a hundred sub-styles and “IPA-adjacent” beers. But every once in a while, a brewery takes a classic template, sharpens the edges, and gives you something that makes you remember why you fell in love with hops in the first place.

For me this National IPA Day, that beer is Leaf Seeker IPA from Tröegs Independent Brewing.

I got to try this for the first time at Ffej of July just a few weeks ago, and went out and got me a can of it, it definitely deserved to be drank again!

(See our article: Troegs Brewing Releases Leaf Seeker IPA to Replace Hopora)

Leaf Seeker IPA by Troegs Independent Brewing

Beer Review

Leaf Seeker is replacing Hopora in the Troegs Brewing release schedule. Let’s see if it lives up to the replacement and deserves its own spot on the calendar!

First Impressions

Crack open the can, and it’s like you’ve just walked into a Pacific Northwest hop farm mid-harvest — dank pine needles under your nose, sticky citrus oils clinging in the air. The pour is a crystal-clear golden amber, with a lively white head that sticks around just long enough to leave a lace map of your drinking pace. No haze, no murk — this is a beer that wears its West Coast style on its sleeve.

Aroma & Flavor

Leaf Seeker IPA is all about balance without losing the bite. The aroma jumps with bright grapefruit, orange zest, and mango from the Citra and El Dorado hops, grounded by earthy, resinous pine from Chinook and CTZ. The first sip leans crisp and bitter up front — a throwback bitterness that makes your tongue sit up straight — but the bitterness doesn’t bulldoze. The malt backbone, courtesy of Pilsner and Vienna malts, keeps things grounded with a lightly biscuity sweetness that fades into a dry, lingering finish.

It’s 6.4% ABV, but drinks lighter, thanks to a snappy, clean body. That’s dangerous on a warm August afternoon.

Seasonal Vibes

Leaf Seeker is a fall seasonal, but it’s debuting just in time to bridge the gap between late summer patio sipping and crisp autumn evenings. I can already picture drinking this while watching the leaves just start to turn, hoodie on, fire pit crackling. The name isn’t just clever branding — it feels like the kind of beer you’d bring along on a road trip through the Appalachian backroads when the foliage hits peak.

National IPA Day Context

Today is National IPA Day, so I’ve been running through my mental catalog of IPAs I’ve loved over the years — Heady Topper, Pliny, Bell’s Two Hearted, Tröegs’ own Perpetual. Leaf Seeker doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel, but it polishes it until it shines. It’s proof that a clear, bitter, West Coast IPA still has a place in 2025, even in a haze-heavy market.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve been craving a clean, hop-forward, no-nonsense IPA with just enough nuance to keep it modern, Leaf Seeker should be on your radar. On National IPA Day, it feels fitting to celebrate with a beer that respects the roots of the style while still feeling fresh and relevant.

Untappd Rating: 3.75 / 5 – Crisp, piney, citrusy, and a perfect seasonal sipper.
Global Untappd Rating: 3.83 (as of 8.7.25)
Would I Drink Again? Absolutely — especially outdoors in the fall.

Leaf Seeker IPA: Tröegs Brewing’s Bold New West Coast-Style Seasonal Beer https://thebeerthrillers.com/2025/07/15/leaf-seeker-ipa-troegs-brewings-bold-new-west-coast-style-seasonal-beer/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=leaf-seeker-ipa-troegs-brewings-bold-new-west-coast-style-seasonal-beer Tue, 15 Jul 2025 21:20:22 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=16562 Leaf Seeker IPA: Tröegs Brewing’s Bold New West Coast-Style Seasonal Beer

Tröegs Independent Brewing is excited to unveil its latest seasonal release: Leaf Seeker IPA. This West Coast-style IPA joins their esteemed rotating seasonal lineup, alongside fan favorites like Field Study and Blizzard of Hops.

Leaf Seeker is a nod to the bold, hop-forward beers that defined the early days of the craft beer revolution. No strangers to the style, Tröegs already boasts Pennsylvania’s best-selling craft brand with Perpetual IPA.

Leaf Seeker IPA by Troegs Brewing Company (photo courtesy of Troegs)

West Coast IPAs are experiencing a recent renaissance of sorts, with Leaf Seeker, we wanted to connect the dots between those big, hoppy IPAs from California and Colorado with our own East Coast culture.

– says John Trogner, co-founding brother and brewmaster at Tröegs.

As with many Tröegs brews, the journey of Leaf Seeker began in the hop-rich fields of the Yakima Valley in the Pacific Northwest. Leaf Seeker IPA started off as Scratch 508, then became Scratch 515, all on its way to becoming Leaf Seeker.

We go to the Yakima Valley every year to make sure we get the right hops. To me, it’s the most important ingredient selection we do. We have so many hop-forward beers, so the stakes are high.

– John Trogner

This year’s harvest brought an abundance of Citra, Chinook, and El Dorado hops, giving Leaf Seeker IPA its signature notes of sticky citrus, dank pine, and tropical fruit. Complemented by a backbone of pilsner and Vienna malts, this IPA strikes the perfect balance at 6.4% ABV, delivering just the right amount of bitterness to accompany fall’s changing leaves.

Availability

Leaf Seeker West Coast-style IPA is available on draft and in 12-oz. bottles and cans throughout Tröegs’ distribution network.

It also kicks off the brewery’s fall Perpetual Exploration rotating variety pack, featuring:

Tröegs Unleashes the Return of Nimble Giant Double IPA

Tröegs Independent Brewing has officially brought back one of its most sought-after seasonal beers — the bold and juicy Nimble Giant Double IPA.

Brewed just once a year, Nimble Giant is a fan favorite that rivals Tröegs’ iconic Mad Elf in the hype it builds leading up to its release. This limited-release Double IPA is now hitting shelves and draft lines across the brewery’s distribution network.

The beer’s journey began in the experimental Scratch Series, where Tröegs brewers first explored the layered complexity of Mosaic hops. It was during these small-batch tests that the ideal hop trio took shape.

“We loved our earliest trials with Mosaic,” says John Trogner, Tröegs brewmaster and co-founding brother. “But when we started dry-hopping with Mosaic and Simcoe together, we knew we had something special. Once we brought Azacca into the mix, it clicked — and we couldn’t turn back.” Weighing in at 9% ABV, Nimble Giant is a showcase of hop expression and balance. Expect vibrant notes of tropical fruit, pine resin, and honeysuckle, all built on a smooth base of pilsner and Vienna malts that give the beer its rich amber-orange color and silky body.

With an “Outstanding” rating on BeerAdvocate and regular top-10 appearances on Untappd’s trending list, Nimble Giant continues to impress both critics and hopheads alike.

This annual release is now available in 16-ounce cans and on draft wherever Tröegs beer is sold. Nimble Giant is available on draft and in 16-oz. cans across the brewery’s entire distribution footprint. To track down Nimble Giant near you, visit the Tröegs Brew Finder.

Englewood Brewing Temporarily Closes with Announced Rescheduled Opening in 2025

Englewood Brewing has just announced that they will be (ceasing immediately) closing their restaurant operations. “Temporarily pausing our restaurant operations”, as of Monday – October 14th, 2024. They made the official post on their social media moments ago – (a pre-scheduled posting at 10:00 AM, Monday October 14th, 2024). They edited it shortly after due to comments to include the “ceasing immediately” and defining the date as of Monday, October 14th, 2024 that they will be closing the restaurant operations.

Their Facebook post reads:

🌟 Exciting Changes Coming to Englewood Hershey in 2025! 🌟

Englewood Hershey Pauses Restaurant Operations for a Refresh: Reopens in 2025 with New Look and Menu

Englewood Hershey, the popular restaurant and music venue in Derry Township, has announced a temporary closure starting today. Located at 1219 West End Ave. in Hershey’s “vibrant” West End, the venue is pausing its restaurant services to undergo significant changes aimed at enhancing its dining experience.

(See: A Taste of The Englewood – Our Review Of The Englewood’s Opening Day)

Why Englewood Hershey is Closing: A Strategic Hiatus

Co-owner Rick Russell shared that this temporary closure is a strategic decision to “evolve” the restaurant into something more in line with their original vision. “Restaurants go through evolutionary periods, and we are experiencing that right now,” Russell explained. “We’re fortunate enough to be able to pause operations and make these changes.”

The plan is to keep the restaurant closed through the start of 2025, but the venue will remain open for private events, live concerts, and comedy nights during the interim. Brewing operations will also continue without interruption, ensuring that Englewood Hershey’s craft beers will still be available to guests.

A Reboot for Englewood Hershey: What Changes Are Coming?

Englewood Hershey originally opened its doors in 2020, housed in a historic barn, as part of a multimillion-dollar project. The establishment quickly became a staple in the Hershey area for its combination of great food, craft beer, and live music. But, according to Russell, the experience has drifted towards a more casual atmosphere than initially intended.

Russell and business partner Jeff Sharp, who operate under Loto Station, LLC, are committed to refining Englewood’s identity. The reboot will include changes to the dining room, a refreshed menu, and an overall more upscale vibe.

Russell emphasized that these updates are necessary to keep Englewood relevant in the fast-paced restaurant industry. “It’s a reboot, and I think it’s part of the evolutionary change of restaurants,” he said. “We want to make it stronger and more customer-focused.”

Englewood Hershey’s Brewing Continues – And So Does Roasting

Though the restaurant is on hiatus, guests can still visit Englewood Roasting Company. This establishment, located at the former Cocoa Beanery on the same property, will remain open with extended hours and an expanded lunch menu during the restaurant’s closure.

Past Closures and Challenges: Water Damage Issues

(See: The Englewood Re-Opens)

Englewood Hershey has had to close twice in the past due to water damage. In late December 2022, a cold snap caused pipes to burst, forcing a seven-week closure. A year prior, a faulty sprinkler system also flooded parts of the venue, resulting in a temporary shutdown. Despite these setbacks, Russell and his team remain committed to ensuring the long-term success of the venue.

They have 73 unique beers and over 15,000 ratings with a global average rating of 3.68 (as of 10.14.24). Troegs Brewing is Bringing Back a Fan Favorite – Java Head Stout https://thebeerthrillers.com/2024/09/22/troegs-brewing-is-bringing-back-a-fan-favorite-java-head-stout/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=troegs-brewing-is-bringing-back-a-fan-favorite-java-head-stout Sun, 22 Sep 2024 14:10:48 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15647

Java Head Stout by Troegs Brewing (original logo)

Troegs Brewing is Bringing Back a Fan Favorite – Java Head Stout

A fan favorite is coming back to Troegs Independent Brewing – Java Head Stout! Originally replaced by Grand Cacao back in 2020 as the stout on record at Troegs. One of the most frequent questions at the Troegs General Store has been “when is Java Head coming back” and its safe to say — soon!

No official date on the release or when it will be coming back exactly, but there is details to discuss as it is currently fermenting. First, it will most likely be back end of October / beginning of November, and it will be in 16 oz pounder cans rather than the previous bottles. (Like most beers at Troegs Brewery, they have shifted from being produced in bottles to that of cans.) It will also most likely be a temporary or a once and done release, and not become a seasonal or flagship release, and it will also most likely be a brewery exclusive or near brewery exclusive (perhaps a few local distributors like West Connection Beer Vault and Breski’s Beverages getting it as well).

Java Head Stout

From the original entry at Troegs Brewing’s website:

JavaHead is like a day at Tröegs; it’s hard to tell where the coffee ends and the beer begins. This creamy oatmeal stout is infused with locally roasted, cold steeped coffee to release subtle hints of cocoa, roasted nuts and dark mocha.

Java Head Stout – Troegs Website

Its safe to assume that the beer will be nearly identical to the original brew, but might not be 100% the exact same recipe. However, the original was a 7.5% ABV and had 60 IBUs, and used Chocolate, Crystal, Oats, Pilsner, Roast malts and Cascade, Chinook, Cluster hops.

We will release more information when we have a date and when it will be coming out! So be sure to check back soon!

Troegs Brewing to Release Mad Dreams This Winter https://thebeerthrillers.com/2024/09/04/troegs-brewing-to-release-mad-dreams-this-winter/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=troegs-brewing-to-release-mad-dreams-this-winter Wed, 04 Sep 2024 15:11:47 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15661 Troegs Brewing to Release Mad Dreams This Winter

Troegs Independent Brewing – Mad Dreams

Its all a Mad Dream….

For the first time ever, Troegs Independent Brewing is canning Mad Dreams – a combination of Mad Elf and DreamWeaver. A fan favorite in the brewery (and at homes and bars willing to make it), Mad Dreams is a blend of Mad Elf and DreamWeaver. (Other similar concoctions are “Chocolate Elf” which is Grand Cacao and Mad Elf, or Pumpkin Elf; which would be Master of Pumpkins and Mad Elf; and some have done various other ideas over the years like Java Head Stout and Mad Elf, Grand Cru Mad Elf and DreamWeaver, etc.)

Served at the bar either as a 50 / 50 (50% of each) or 60 / 40 (60% Mad Elf / 40% DreamWeaver) for those who want it a bit more ‘cherry’ or ‘higher abv’.

This is the first time though that Troegs Brewing has canned it to go!

Troegs Brewing to Release Mad Dreams This Winter

Exciting news is brewing at Tröegs Independent Brewing in Hershey, PA, as they prepare to launch Mad Dreams, a new variant of their beloved Mad Elf holiday ale. This innovative brew combines the rich flavors of cherries and local honey, resulting in a delightful 50/50 blend of Mad Elf and DreamWeaver wheat. With an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 7.9%, Mad Dreams promises to be a standout in the winter beer lineup, packaged in convenient 12oz cans.

What to Expect from Mad Dreams

  • Flavor Profile: A harmonious blend featuring the sweetness of cherries and the floral notes of local honey.
  • Alcohol Content: 7.9% ABV, making it a robust choice for winter festivities.
  • Packaging: Available in 12oz cans, perfect for sharing or enjoying solo.

As the holiday season approaches, keep an eye out for more details on this exciting release! Tröegs has a tradition of crafting exceptional seasonal beers, and Mad Dreams is sure to become a favorite among craft beer enthusiasts. Be sure to check your local retailers and Tröegs’ distribution channels for availability. Stay tuned for updates on the release date and where you can grab your cans of Mad Dreams this winter!

Mad Dreams vs. Mad Elf: A Flavorful Comparison

Tröegs Independent Brewing’s new release, Mad Dreams, offers a unique twist on the classic Mad Elf ale, making it an exciting addition to the winter beer lineup. Here’s how these two beloved brews differ:

Alcohol Content

  • Mad Elf: This holiday ale boasts a robust 11% ABV, delivering a strong punch that many craft beer lovers appreciate.
  • Mad Dreams: In contrast, Mad Dreams has a slightly lower 7.9% ABV, making it more approachable for those looking to enjoy a festive beer without the higher alcohol content.

Flavor Profile

  • Mad Elf: Known for its rich flavors, Mad Elf is brewed with cherries and honey, complemented by subtle hints of spice. The cherry and honey notes are present but not overwhelming, allowing for a smooth finish with a slight alcohol warmth
  • Mad Dreams: This new variant enhances the original by blending Mad Elf with DreamWeaver Wheat, introducing a refreshing twist. The addition of local honey and cherries remains, but the wheat base adds a lighter, more effervescent character to the beer, making it distinctively different from its predecessor.

Brewing Approach

  • Mad Elf: Traditionally brewed as a once-a-year holiday ale, Mad Elf has become a staple in winter seasonal offerings, celebrated for its complexity and depth.
  • Mad Dreams: As a blend of two existing beers, this variant represents Tröegs’ innovative approach to brewing, showcasing their ability to create new experiences from beloved recipes.

Packaging

  • Both beers are available in 12oz cans, making them convenient for sharing during holiday gatherings or enjoying by the fire.

In summary, while both Mad Dreams and Mad Elf share foundational ingredients of cherries and honey, Mad Dreams offers a lighter experience with its wheat blend and lower ABV. This makes it an excellent choice for those seeking a festive yet refreshing winter beer. Keep an eye out for the release of Mad Dreams to experience this delightful twist on a classic!

At the Fuzzy Few Festival: A YAH Brew and a Schmidt’s Sausage https://thebeerthrillers.com/2024/08/29/at-the-fuzzy-few-festival-a-yah-brew-and-a-schmidts-sausage/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=at-the-fuzzy-few-festival-a-yah-brew-and-a-schmidts-sausage Fri, 30 Aug 2024 01:00:22 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15482

A YAH Brew and a Schmidt’s Sausage (with Kraut)

A YAH Brew and a Schmidt’s Sausage (with Kraut) at the Fuzzy Few Festival

This delight was enjoyed Saturday August 17th, the last day of the Fuzzy Few Festival in Hummelstown, PA.  This event has morphed since it’s inception over 55 years ago.  It felt like much more of a community supporting community.  (See our Instagram post from the Fuzzy Few Festival.)

I also spent every single night with an Alzheimer’s Association table setup.  I shared information and resources for those who shared concern or were going through a situation involving dementia or Alzheimer’s impacting their lives.  We also invited folks to join us at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s event on Saturday November 2, 2024 at City Island. (Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Harrisburg Area Walk.)

The Fuzzy Few Festival ran from August 12th until August 17.  Most evenings the crowd walking around to play games and connect with local organizations died down by 9pm.  Most everyone had pulled up a lawn chair and was enjoying the free nightly concert.  A free event for the community is a gem to find. (See our article on the Fuzzy Few Festival 2024.)

With a wonderful donation from Troeg’s beer (last year, in 2023 – the Fuzzy Few Festival had the beer garden located inside the basketball court’s caged in area) it was nice to see a “beer garden” not far from where concert goers were enjoying their evening.  I mean if a community event is fundraising and providing free entertainment, why isn’t it busier here?

There still seems to be a stir amongst some former supporters of the carnival.  The move from out of state rides and game providers to come into our town seems to be the main complaint.  Although the need for volunteers is always so imperative and more dire.

(Volunteer for the Fuzzy Few Organization.)

YAH Brew continues to be a community supporter. With events like the “Benefit for CJ” and several collaboration beers to benefit local nonprofits. It would be great to see many more communities supporting communities. I can guarantee I’ll be continuing to support YAH Brew and Schmidt’s Sausage; and definitely the Fuzzy Few Organization. (Shout out to Justin for dropping the beer off to me on Saturday night. Megan and Dr. Barisch were hanging out at the Alzheimer’s tent with me, discussing the Bicycle Criterium in Hummelstown, and I sent them over to Justin to talk about Hummelstown and to enjoy YAH Beers.)

Fuzzy Few Festival

(Editor Ben piping up here)

The Fuzzy Few Festival was another fun year. Amy and her mom worked dueling stands / tents at the event. Amy had an informational booth for the Alzheimer’s Association, while Grandma SueAnn had a stand selling magnets with the donations and money raised going to the Walk to End ALZ events.

I helped set up with Amy on Sunday morning before work (Sunday the 11th). Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday I was able to attend the event, mostly to help keep an eye on Scarlet (who loved running around, and especially loved playing in the Duck game’s water).

Two of my older daughters got to come and hang out with us on Thursday and absolutely cleaned house at the dime pitch. (We landed the Appalachian Brewing growler, but with no cap, and no real interest in growlers anymore, we let another lay claim to it).

All in all it was an absolutely fantastic event. My parents had a good time when they visited (my dad enjoyed getting to see the final performance of Pentagon), Grandma SueAnn said she sold a good number of magnets, and Amy got to help provide people with critical information about the Alzheimer’s Association.

Their Untappd description reads: “GROUNDED ROOTS. OPEN WATERS. Sloop Brewing Co. has been rooted in the craft and tradition of brewing since its inception in 2011. Justin Taylor, co-founder and second-generation familial brewer, has been honing his craft since learning to brew with his father at a young age. As Justin and Adam’s passion grew, they started brewing together in Justin’s garage in Poughkeepsie, NY. For the next three years, Justin and Adam continued to work their day jobs while spending many late nights, early mornings, and entire weekends brewing, growing sales at farmers markets and local retail establishments, and fostering community loyalty and relationships. Fast-forward a decade, and Sloop has evolved from a passion shared between two friends into one of the fastest-growing regional craft breweries. Troegs Brewing Releasing Double Perpetual IPA https://thebeerthrillers.com/2024/08/17/troegs-brewing-releasing-double-perpetual-ipa/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=troegs-brewing-releasing-double-perpetual-ipa Sat, 17 Aug 2024 16:35:58 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15439

Double Perpetual IPA by Troegs Independent Brewing

Troegs Brewing Releasing Double Perpetual IPA

On August 19th, Troegs Independent Brewing will be releasing Double Perpetual IPA; their new once-yearly release. Taking the place of Hop Cyclone in the rotation of Double IPAs this year, Double Perpetual IPA will be making its official debut as a non-scratch beer.

Double Perpetual IPA was previously released last year as Scratch #500 alongside Scratch #501 – known as Triple Perpetual. (See: Troegs Brewing is Releasing Scratch 500 Double Perpetual and Scratch 501 Triple Perpetual.) Where Triple Perpetual IPA was a “happy mistake”, Double Perpetual IPA was released as an anniversary of their 500th scratch release (Troegs Brewing’s version of research and development), Double Perpetual IPA was an immediate fan favorite. So Triple Perpetual IPA became Scratch 501 and the new Double Perpetual IPA became Scratch 500.

The original release of Scratch 500 Double Perpetual IPA came with this write – up by Troegs Brewing:

Do you remember the world before Perpetual, when Tröegs didn’t brew an IPA? Well, Citra hops and a half dozen Scratch batches later, our beloved Imperial Pale Ale was born. To commemorate the Scratch #500 milestone, we’re putting a bigger, bolder version in your hands. Double Perpetual cycles through copious amounts of Cascade, Chinook, Nugget and Citra hops on its way to stickier notes of citrus, pine and tropical fruit. To infinity…

– Troegs Brewing: Double Perpetual IPA

Lets break down the new Once-a-Year Double IPA from Troegs Independent Brewing; the new yet (one year) old release!

Name: Double Perpetual IPA
Style: IPA – Imperial / Double
ABV: 9.5%
IBU: N / A
Hops: Cascade, Chinook, Citra, Nugget, Bravo, and Cashmere
Malt: Crystal, Munich, and Pilsner
Yeast: House Ale Yeast
Description: Do you remember the world before Perpetual, when Tröegs didn’t brew an IPA? Well, Citra hops and a half dozen Scratch batches later, our beloved Imperial Pale Ale was born. To commemorate the Scratch #500 milestone, we’re putting a bigger, bolder version in your hands. Double Perpetual cycles through copious amounts of Cascade, Chinook, Nugget and Citra hops on its way to stickier notes of citrus, pine and tropical fruit. To infinity…
Original Scratch 500 Double Perpetual IPA Untappd Rating: 4.22 (as of 8.17.24)
Number of Untappd Ratings: 542

Double Perpetual IPA will be released at the Troegs Brewery in Hershey PA on August 19th, 2024. It will be released in 16 oz cans as well as on draft. You’ll be able to find it in four packs and in cases, as well as in singles in the General Store at the brewery. (Unlike last year, there won’t be any limits on the beer.) It will be going out onto the market and will see distribution. You can use their Brew Finder to find Double Perpetual IPA near you. You can find it in their General Store (to go) or in their Tasting Room (for on site consumption) at their brewery, located at 200 Hersheypark Dr, Hershey, PA 17033.
