If there are two things Americans love, it’s football and beer. And what better way to combine them than by finding the nearest craft brewery to every NFL stadium? Whether you’re traveling for an away game, tailgating with friends, or just want to explore new taprooms, this guide lays out exactly which brewery is closest to each of the NFL’s 30 stadiums (remember, the Giants/Jets and Chargers/Rams share homes).

We’ve mapped out the nearest on-site breweries to every stadium, with exact coordinates and precise distances (straight-line, great-circle measurement). This isn’t a rough estimate—it’s as accurate as it gets without breaking out a tape measure on game day.

Observations

  • Shortest Walk for a Pint: Seattle Seahawks fans win this one — Pyramid Alehouse is basically across the street from Lumen Field (0.1 miles).

  • Cincinnati Close Second: Bengals fans at Paycor Stadium can stroll over to Moerlein Lager House in under half a mile.

  • Longest Trek: Buffalo Bills fans have to head ~8 miles to Buffalo Brewing Company. But let’s be real, Bills Mafia is tailgating in the lots anyway.

  • Brewery Culture Hotspots: Cities like Denver, Seattle, Charlotte, Philly, and Minneapolis have multiple breweries within walking distance of the stadium.

Beer and Football – A Perfect Pair

Key Takeaways

  • Closest Pair: Patriots fans win with Wormtown Brewery’s Patriot Place taproom, only 0.14 miles away from Gillette Stadium.
  • Big Beer Desert: Arrowhead Stadium and Commanders Field are both over 5 miles from the nearest brewery.
  • Beer Hotbeds: Green Bay, Detroit, Philly, and Minneapolis have breweries practically across the street.

Why This Matters for Beer and Football Fans

  • Travel Planning: Away game? Know where to pregame with fresh craft beer.
  • Local Flavor: Each stadium has its own beer scene—some are surrounded by breweries, others are beer deserts.
  • Beer Tourism: Football season is the perfect excuse to visit a new brewery.

Conclusion

Football and beer go hand in hand, and no matter which stadium you’re at, there’s a brewery nearby worth checking out. Some fan bases have it better than others—Packers fans can walk across the street, while Commanders fans may have to Uber—but either way, beer and football continue to be a match made in heaven.

So next time you’re headed to a game, remember this list, support your local brewery, and raise a glass to touchdowns and good beer.

No matter which team you root for, there’s a craft brewery nearby waiting to serve you on game day. The rise of local beer near stadiums shows how intertwined football culture and the craft beer scene have become. Next time you head out to a game, consider supporting a local brewery before kickoff.

NFL Stadium Beer Prices for the 2025 Season – From $6.80 to $16.49 (and Higher) https://thebeerthrillers.com/2025/08/15/nfl-stadium-beer-prices-for-the-2025-season-from-6-80-to-16-49-and-higher/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=nfl-stadium-beer-prices-for-the-2025-season-from-6-80-to-16-49-and-higher Fri, 15 Aug 2025 21:29:45 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=16575 NFL Stadium Beer Prices for the 2025 Season – From $6.80 to $16.49 (and Higher)

There’s nothing quite like the marriage of two of America’s greatest obsessions: football and beer. Whether you’re tailgating in the parking lot hours before kickoff, grabbing a cold one while cheering from the stands, or yelling at your TV from the comfort of your couch — beer is part of the NFL experience.

But if you’re heading to a game this season, you might want to check your wallet before you order that pint. Because depending on where you are, you could be paying as little as $6.80 or as much as $16.49 for a single 16-ounce beer. And if you’re unlucky enough to be in Philly, you might even see $18.50 staring back at you from the concession stand menu.

(See our article about prices at the MLB Ballparks – The Average Cost of Beer Per Ballpark (2025) .)

So let’s dive into the full stadium-by-stadium beer price breakdown for the 2025 NFL season.

Recent NFL Stadiums that hosted the Super Bowl

Average Beer Price Across the NFL – 2025 Season

The league-wide average price for a 16-ounce beer in NFL stadiums sits right around $9.76, based on the most recent available data from the 2024–2025 season. This figure reflects standard draft pricing — not the inflated “premium” options you might encounter in certain stadiums.

NFL Stadium Beer Prices – 2025 Chart

Beer Price Leaders and Losers

  • Most Expensive: Washington Commanders — $16.49 for a 16 oz pour. That’s nearly the price of a six-pack at your local craft beer shop.

  • Most Affordable: Cincinnati Bengals — $6.80, proving that the Queen City still knows how to take care of its fans.

  • Biggest “What the Hell?” Moment: Philadelphia Eagles — $11.24 standard… but an $18.50 Miller Lite made headlines this preseason.

Why the Huge Price Differences?

A lot of factors go into these prices:

  • Market size and cost of living (New York, LA, DC tend to be pricier)

  • Team ownership philosophy (some owners see concessions as profit goldmines, others try to keep them affordable)

  • Stadium contracts with vendors and distributors

  • Fan demand and willingness to pay

And of course, once you’re in the stadium, they’ve got you. No outside beverages allowed, and unless you’re nursing a $6.50 bottle of water, you’re paying the going rate for beer.

A Craft Beer Fan’s Perspective

Here at The Beer Thrillers, we’re all about quality, variety, and flavor. So when I see someone dropping $16 on a watery macro lager, my beer-loving heart hurts. That same $16 could get you a hazy IPA from a local brewery, a barrel-aged stout, or three pours at your favorite taproom.

That said… when you’re in the middle of a roaring stadium, your team is in the red zone, and the crowd is electric — maybe, just maybe — the beer tastes a little better (even if your wallet feels lighter).

Final Take

Beer prices in NFL stadiums are going nowhere but up. If you’re a die-hard fan, budget accordingly. If you’re a craft beer drinker, maybe save your serious sipping for the pregame tailgate or post-game brewery stop.

Either way, beer and football aren’t breaking up anytime soon.

New Trail Brewing Releases State Light Peach for Happy Valley United https://thebeerthrillers.com/2023/12/14/new-trail-brewing-releases-state-light-peach-for-happy-valley-united/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=new-trail-brewing-releases-state-light-peach-for-happy-valley-united Thu, 14 Dec 2023 16:10:55 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=13277 New Trail Brewing Company is Releasing State Light Peach for the Bowl Game

As you probably can guess by the beer – Penn State will be in the Chik-Fil-A Peach Bowl this year. In honor of Penn State playing in the Peach Bowl – New Trail Brewing Company is releasing State Light Peach.

From their social media announcement:

Are you getting ready to see the Lions in a Bowl game?

You’ll need to pick up State Light Peach – we brewed our light beer with a pop of refreshing peach to celebrate the Bowl selection!

State Light Peach won’t be around for long, but it is available in our Tasting Room starting today and shipping out to retailers this week!

New Trail Brewing Company – Facebook Post

State Light is New Trail Brewing Company’s lager designed for Penn State fans and for Penn State games. Its sold at Beaver Stadium during all of the Penn State Football home games. Its a 4.2% ABV lager, perfect for a few to enjoy while watching a great game at Beaver Stadium or at home on your couch.

So it makes perfect sense to use State Light and add Peach for the upcoming Peach Bowl Game.

According to Untappd, State Light Peach is the same beer as State Light with peaches added to it. Stays the same 4.2% ABV American Lager. The Untappd description for the State Light Peach is: “Our State Light brewed with a pop of sweet refreshing peach to celebrate the Bowl Game.”

The Untappd description for the original State Light is: “State Light is brewed for the fans. At 105 calories and 4.6g of carbs, it’s built to be your every-down beer.”

Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl Game

No. 11 Ole Miss (10-2) will face No. 10 Penn State (10-2) in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Saturday, December 30th (2023). From Chik-Fil-A Peach Bowl’s website:

No. 11 Ole Miss (10-2) will face No. 10 Penn State (10-2) in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl as announced by the College Football Playoff selection committee today. The 56th annual Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will be played Saturday, Dec. 30 at noon ET inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and will be nationally televised by ESPN.

This year’s matchup represents only the sixth Big Ten vs. SEC matchup in the Bowl’s history, but will be the second-consecutive showdown between the conferences following last year’s CFP Semifinal that featured No. 4 Ohio State vs. No. 1 Georgia. It also marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Penn State will make its Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl debut, while Ole Miss will play in the Bowl for only the third time in its history, after defeating Georgia Tech 41-18 in the 1971 game and falling 42-3 to TCU in 2014.

12 Pennsylvania Breweries Collaborate on Buckeye Tears https://thebeerthrillers.com/2023/09/30/12-pennsylvania-breweries-collaborate-on-buckeye-tears/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=12-pennsylvania-breweries-collaborate-on-buckeye-tears Sat, 30 Sep 2023 06:32:04 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=12552 12 Pennsylvania Breweries Collaborate on Buckeye Tears

Twelve different breweries from Pennsylvania are collaborating on a beer together – called “Buckeye Tears” – to be released ahead of the Ohio State vs. Penn State showdown on October 21st, 2023.

Here are the 12 breweries that will serve “Buckeye Tears”:

  • Acrospire Brewing — Glenshaw
  • Antifragile Brewing — State College
  • Blondes and Brewnettes — West Grove
  • Cellar Works — Sarver
  • Grist House — Pittsburgh
  • Hidden Stories Brewing — Millerstown
  • Locust Lane Craft Brewery — Malvern
  • Mechanistic Brewing — Clarion
  • Michaux Brewing — Waynesboro
  • Moo-Duck Brewing — Elizabethtown
  • Rough Edges Brewing — Waynesboro
  • ShuBrew — Zelienople

PSU Alumni

All twelve breweries are owned, or have a head brewer, or are represented in their business by a PSU (Penn State University) alumni. There are several more across the state, but these are the twelve that worked on the beer.

Buckeye Tears

Buckeye Tears is a 4.09%* ABV Cold IPA and will feature a cartoon of a crying Brutus Buckeye mascot. (If the legal department doesn’t hit them with a cease and decease.) The 409 obviously in reference to Joe Paterno’s “win” record (which has since been altered, vacated, and / or adjusted by the NCAA due to the fall out of the Sandusky Scandal).

The beer has been picked up with lots of mainstream news from the east coast sources, as well as national news sources such as Sports Illustrated.

The following is some clips from different website news sources:

While Pennsylvania residents will be able to drink a beverage named Buckeye Tears, it’s been awhile since the Nittany Lions themselves have tasted any. Ohio State hasn’t lost to Penn State since 2016 and has won 10 of its last 11 matchups against the Nittany Lions.

Penn State hasn’t beaten OSU in Columbus, where this year’s game will be played, in more than a decade. 2011 was the last time the Nittany Lions earned a road win in Columbus.

The 4.09% alcohol IPA will feature a cartoon of a crying Brutus Buckeye mascot.

In the press release, Breweries in PA said, “Obviously no harm is meant, we just think ‘Buckeye Tears’ is the perfect name for a beer that will honor Penn State heading to the National Championship in 2023! No one in Ohio wants to see that.”

Twelve Penn State Alumni-Owned Breweries To Launch ‘Buckeye Tears’ Beer – Onward State

So if Ohio State mops the floor with Penn State on Oct. 21 in Columbus, the Nittany Lion faithful can blame that line in the release.

It’s not known if the “tears” are supposed to be in reference to Ohio State losing to Michigan for a second consecutive time last season, their last-second loss to Georgia in the College Football Playoff or head coach Ryan Day’s toughness rant directed at Lou Holtz last week.

Despite the bold troll, Ohio State has the upper hand in the series, with an all-time 23-14 record against Penn State to hold over the Nittany Lions’ heads. Last season, the Buckeyes ran away with the lead against Penn State in the fourth quarter, going on to win 44-31. Penn State hasn’t beaten Ohio State since 2016 and hasn’t won at The Shoe since 2011.

Penn State fans loved it while Buckeyes fans pointed out that they could be in trouble with Ohio State’s licensing department:

“Okay I was going to say maybe we shouldn’t be calling it buckeye tears because they routinely beat us but I think every single one of their fans that have ever existed has commented on this so maybe it’s true,” one Nittany Lions fan replied.

“Have you heard of Ohio State’s Trademark and Licensing Services? You will,” a Buckeyes fan warned with a laughing emoji.

“Penn State is 5-18 against Ohio State this century lmao,” a third said.

It’ll be pretty hard for Penn State fans to enjoy that beer if they get trounced by Ohio State. But if they get the win, it’ll be a whole lot sweeter.

Rivalry? What is Ohio State vs. Penn State’s Win-Loss Record?

Ohio State vs. Penn State Win – Loss Record

Ohio State has won six straight against Penn State.

The Buckeyes’ win streak against Penn State started in 2017 with a 39-38 win in Columbus.

Ohio State’s last loss to Penn State came in a 24-21 loss to the Nittany Lions in State College during the 2016 season.

Ohio State has not lost a game against Penn State in Columbus since 2011.

In an annual rivalry that always brings intensity to the field, there is now an added element off the field that likely will be a fan favorite for Penn State alums heading into their Week 8 contest against Ohio State.

Pennsylvania Breweries Troll Ohio State With ‘Buckeye Tears’ Beer – WATE State

Despite the bold troll, Ohio State has the upper hand in the series, with an all-time 23-14 record against Penn State to hold over the Nittany Lions’ heads. Last season, the Buckeyes ran away with the lead against Penn State in the fourth quarter, going on to win 44-31. Penn State hasn’t beaten Ohio State since 2016 and hasn’t won at The Shoe since 2011.

Both teams have been firing on all cylinders offensively this season, as they each enter Week 5 top three in the Big Ten in total yards and points per game; Penn State is averaging 449.8 total yards (second in Big Ten) and 40.5 points (first), while Ohio State is averaging 447.5 total yards (third) and 34.5 points (third) per game.

Both teams are also finding success with first-year quarterbacks. Drew Allar (Penn State) has thrown for 903 yards, eight touchdowns and zero interceptions, while completing 67.2% of his passes; Kyle McCord (Ohio State) has thrown for 1,055 yards and six touchdowns, while helping lead Ohio State on a game-winning touchdown drive in the final seconds on the road against then-No. 9 Notre Dame last week.

Penn State vs. Ohio State Win – Loss Record

Barstool Sports took exception to the selling of the beer in the first place, with biting commentary:

I mean I understand that involving Ohio State in ANYTHING will drive interactions, clicks, viewers, purchases, etc etc etc etc, but at the end of the day, you can’t straight up lie to people. You can’t stick Brutus the Buckeye on the can of your beer, absolutely sobbing, insinuating that you have beaten us more than once in the last decade. Then again, I guess it’s possible that these “Buckeye Tears” are tears of joy….? That would make more sense. Because excluding the most narrow and ridiculous 24-21 victory (at Penn State, night game, 107000 people, in which they outscored us 17-0 in the 4th culminating in a blocked FG return) back in 2016, I literally cannot remember a world where Ohio State wasn’t curb-stomping this mediocre program.

No Such Thing as Bad Publicity

As you can see, there’s no such thing as “bad publicity” for marketing purposes. Though, to be honest, I question this from the breweries perspectives. I understand the collective group that is helping them get this made, but the individual breweries, I don’t fully get. Maybe they are getting a little bit of national, or regional exposure from this momentarily, but most of the news sources are just covering the trolling done by BiPA.

All of the press release junkets and news sites pretty much read the same. (Links to numerous news sites at the end of this article.) Nearly word for word identical in each article, and only one article directly mentioned the name of the breweries involved. But, all of the articles mentioned that its trolling, and instigating, and quoted BiPA.

I don’t think there will be any harm that will come to the breweries involved, but I don’t think they’ll get the attention that is due them for their work on this beer. People will go out and buy the beer from them, no doubt, and it’ll sell out – guarantee it – but that’ll be the end of it on their level. However, this did get the BiPA group and page some national exposure, some notoriety, and for websites, trolling isn’t viewed as a negative, and with tons of backlinks, now they’ll continue to garner more and more clicks and views. For them, this was all brilliant. They’ve already cultivated a bit of a trolling nature and profile in some ways, so this just further adds to it. What this does for the breweries is just provide them a guaranteed sell out beer. Hopefully the attention is longer and more long – lasting than I imagine here, but I am not so sure. Time will tell.

Time will also tell if this beer will “age well” come October 21st, when they play against Ohio State.

Qatar Bans Alcohol Sales at World Cup in Last Second Decision https://thebeerthrillers.com/2022/11/18/qatar-bans-alcohol-sales-at-world-cup-in-last-second-decision/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=qatar-bans-alcohol-sales-at-world-cup-in-last-second-decision Fri, 18 Nov 2022 15:40:16 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=9918
World Cup 2022 in Qatar

The World Cup

The 2022 World Cup is just about on us (kick off for the first game will be the hosts Qatar facing Ecuador). Hosts Qatar will open the tournament with a Group A match against Ecuador on Sunday 20th November at 19:00 local time (16:00 GMT/UTC) (or 7:00PM local and 4:00PM EST) in Doha at Al Bayt Stadium.

This is the USMNT’s (United States Men’s National Team) first appearance back in the World Cup after missing the last one (2018) in Russia. Christian Pulisic (Jackass Brewery Announces Pulisic Pilsner – See Article Here) is leading the charge for the men’s team. Local boy to The Beer Thrillers (from Hershey, PA), who we’ve met several times (we were very good friends with his father Mark Pulisic from the Harrisburg Heat, as well as his mother Kelly Pulisic, who my mother actually helped get the paperwork for her to become a teacher) is the biggest asset and piece for the USMNT going into this World Cup.

Interestingly enough, Christian Pulisic has just started commercials ahead of the World Cup promoting Michelob Ultra.

But… seems like there won’t be any Michelob Ultra – or any beer – at the 2022 World Cup.

Qatar Bans Alcohol Sales

As Washington Post just stated in an article twenty minutes ago:

Qatar isn’t a dry country, but the government curtails alcohol sales at almost all restaurants that aren’t associated with a high-end hotel or resort. World Cup organizers had said tourists will be able to drink in designated fan zones within stadiums, but reversed those plans two days before the first game.

Qatar’s Controversial $300 Billion World Cup Is Almost Here: Q&A

Qatar’s Controversial $300 Billion World Cup Is Almost Here: Q&A

As per Sky News:

The sale of alcohol is strictly controlled in Qatar, and is only allowed in the Muslim nation within hotel bars and restaurants away from street view. It had to relax its alcohol restrictions to allow FIFA sponsor Budweiser to sell its products outside match venues and fan zones.

Qatar World Cup: Beer to be banned from all stadiums – except for corporate spectators

There is a bit of a misconception that Qatar is a full dry country. But as these articles stated, its not exactly a dry country, but a very governmental strict ‘banning’ or ‘restrictive’ dryness. Qatar is a constitutional monarchy headed by Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al- Thani. The 2005 constitution provides for hereditary rule by the emir’s male branch of the al-Thani family.

So I think you can somewhat read between the lines on the form of government on that.

Leading up to the World Cup there was lots of talk about alcohol and if beer and liquor would be served at the World Cup games. Almost flip flopping articles were coming out from The New York Times, Washington Post, ESPN, The BBC, Reuters, etc; discussing if they were or weren’t going to be allowing beer and alcohol sales.

The different World Cup Stadiums for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

Ahead of the tournament itself, in some of the friendlies, Budweiser was served at small, remote locations on the stadium’s venues. But it appears, that just two days ahead of the World Cup itself they’ve reversed their decision and are now banning the beer.

World Cup organisers have banned the sale of alcohol around stadiums in Qatar after last-minute showdown talks, FIFA announced on Friday.

First reported by British newspaper The Times, FIFA and Qatari organisers were engaged in late negotiations over whether beer would be sold at the stadiums during the tournament, which begins on Sunday.

ESPN: Qatar bans alcohol at World Cup stadiums in late reversal

ESPN has picked up the article mainly stemming from the British newspaper The Times. Stating that main negotiations are between Budweiser through FIFA and with the Qatar government.

FIFA said in a statement: “Following discussions between host country authorities and FIFA, a decision has been made to focus the sale of alcoholic beverages on the FIFA Fan Festival, other fan destinations and licensed venues, removing the sales points of beer from Qatar’s FIFA World Cup 2022 stadium perimeters.”

While supporters can purchase alcohol at the official fan zones during the competition, the sale of beer at the matches themselves has been a controversial topic.

It appeared an agreement was originally struck to allow FIFA to permit sponsors Budweiser to sell beer at the stadiums. This was then further clarified in the buildup to the tournament after The New York Times first reported that the beer tents would be less visible at the grounds on request of the hosts.

But it emerged there was late pressure on FIFA to halt sales of alcohol at the stadiums themselves, two days before hosts Qatar kick off the tournament on Sunday against Ecuador.

“There is no impact to the sale of Bud Zero which will remain available at all Qatar’s World Cup stadiums,” FIFA added.

“Host country authorities and FIFA will continue to ensure that the stadiums and surrounding areas provide an enjoyable, respectful and pleasant experience for all fans.

“The tournament organisers appreciate AB InBev’s understanding and continuous support to our joint commitment to cater for everyone during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.”

ESPN: Qatar bans alcohol at World Cup stadiums in late reversal

Just a few minutes ago, Budweiser (through AB InBev) tweeted the following:

Well, this is awkward…— Budweiser (@Budweiser) November 18, 2022

This tweet has since been deleted.

Qatar Hosting Controversies

To say Qatar is a controversial FIFA World Cup host is… well.. an understatement in the minimum. Allegations of bribery, scandals, work arounds, and all kinds of corruption and lies to get the tournament to Qatar have surfaced. One of their initial pitches in 2009 / 2010 were “clouds”. These were supposed to be floating platforms that would hang above the stadiums, similar to drones but on a massive scale, and would push cold air down onto the players and fans, and expel the hot air upwards. Obviously, this technology has never come to fruition.

The selection of Qatar to host this year’s FIFA World Cup brought cheers to the streets of Doha in a celebration of the first edition of the tournament to be held in the Arab world.

But the choice, made in 2010, also sparked instant criticism – over the logistics of holding a sporting event in a country where summertime temperatures regularly top 100 degrees; over allegations of bribery and corruption among FIFA officials who voted for Qatar; and over concerns about human rights abuses that have persisted in the years since.

Now, with the World Cup days away, the Gulf country is expecting the arrival of more than a million fans. And billions more will tune in to watch the tournament’s 64 games. Yet the controversies have not subsided.

Recently, even the former head of FIFA called the selection of Qatar a mistake.

“It was a bad choice. And I was responsible for that as president at the time,” said Sepp Blatter, whose term as FIFA administrator ended in 2015 amid a bribery scandal.

Why Qatar is a controversial host for the World Cup

Two More Days

2022 World Cup Stadium – Qatar

We are just two more days to the kick off of one of the biggest and fun events that only happens every four years. As a soccer fan I love the World Cup, the history, the games, etc. I remember watching the 1998 tournament and being so engrossed when it was held here in America. And I am eagerly anticipating the 2026 World Cup in North America. Hopefully will get to a game (can’t wait to see how ridiculous the prices will be).

Here’s to hoping that the United States Men’s Team gets it all together and gets a good push and run going. We are in Group B with Wales, England, and Iran. England should be the hardest competition in the group to us. Hopefully we can win out of the group, but second in the group should be at least attainable.

Its still November (obviously) and that means I’m still doing the 30 for 30. So be sure to check back here, and check out the other November articles. Lots of interesting stuff, from Yards Brewing Paying Up on their Wager, to Beer Reviews, to a Hike Review, to the birth of our daughter Scarlet Emma, to brewery news, World Cup news (like this article), Pour Man’s Brewing Moving Their Tap Room, brewfest events like Auto and Ales, Brewsgiving, and Burley Oak’s Controlled Chaos, etc. Thank you for all reading!

Thanks For Reading

Thanks for reading everyone! Things have certainly been a bit hectic here at The Beer Thrillers Headquarters. Spent from 11.09.22 til 11.16.22 in the hospital with getting Scarlet Emma born. …Oh yea, did I mention we had a kid? Thats kinda big news huh? Scarlet Emma was born at 5:52PM on 11.11.22 (Kurt Vonnegut’s 100th Birthday). November is usually a busy month anyway, with Autos and Ales, with Thanksgiving, with me doing my version of NaNoWriMo; where I try and write an article a day for the entire month. So its a very busy month here at The Beer Thrillers, especially now with the introduction of a new baby into our lives. But what a great addition! Wouldn’t change that for anything.

I do want to say thank you to everyone who has reached out to congratulate us on Facebook, Instagram, etc. It means a lot!

And I of course, want to say thank you to everyone who has read any of our articles, commented, liked, shared, subscribed, followed, etc. It means so much to us here at The Beer Thrillers!

I just want to mention one last thing. Pretzels.com has reached out to me to start an affiliate program. Amy and I will be tasting some of their different flavors, writing an article about them, and beer pairings with them, and will have an affiliate link going forward with them. So if you want to get pretzels, please make sure to use our link and our code when we have it all set up. This will help yourself (discounts, yay!), and help us out here at the blog.

Thanks for reading everyone!

Beer Review: Tried and True (Mango) (Boneshire Brew Works) https://thebeerthrillers.com/2019/10/01/beer-review-tried-and-true-mango-boneshire-brew-works/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=beer-review-tried-and-true-mango-boneshire-brew-works Tue, 01 Oct 2019 12:15:27 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=798
Tried and True (Mango variant) at Boneshire Brew Works

If there’s one thing I love, its a Monday Night Football game between two 0-3 teams. Especially when that one team is mine – the Cincinnati Bengals. Yes, every season is a long road of torture and abject humiliation, and watching the Bengals is somewhere near the level of being waterboarded at Gitmo (Guantanamo Bay base). But I push through every year. We have a new coach now, Zac Taylor. The most whitest of whitest and blandest of blandest men. He wanted to prove to his father he was the bigger WASP so he went and played QB at Nebraska. He drives a mini-van, knows all the words to baby shark, wears short khaki shorts, and thinks Desperate Housewives was the culmination of the television medium. When fist-bumping the black players on his team he refers to himself as “Zakky T”. The Bengals team can be actively described as “aggressively milquetoast”.

….and those are the positives we have on the Bengals this season. So I find myself rooting them on (actually, in a perverse way, rooting for the loss so we can go 0-16 and lock up Tua and get away from Andy Dalton for good) sitting at the bar at Boneshire Brewery alongside Owen and a host of other characters playing Dungeons & Dragons (while MNF “rages” on around them, all of whom are oblivious to it) and Jimi manning the bar. And this was probably the best way to view this schlocking and revolting display of “football” pageantry by a team who legitimately (maybe) Alabama a run (though I’d still bet on Alabama).

The nice takeaway from it all is that Steelers might look better but its all a sham because they got to play at home (like they always do) on MNF to a very enthused crowd, so their 27-3 thrashing of an extremely subpar team is all smoke up the back end of a buffalo. The now 1-3 Steelers will go on with their backup QB to have a subpar / below average season, but at least they got this one big win in. I always love the statistics before these games, like Steelers are 13-0 in their last 13 (now 14-0) Monday Night Football home games. Which makes you wonder just how few away Monday Night games they’ve had, and what their record is on those extremely rare occasions. And just how lopsided that statistic becomes if you are always the home team for these games (note: they don’t give Bengals home games on prime time.) And, Andy Dalton now progresses to a 3-14 lifetime record against the Steelers (which includes a botched playoff game courtesy of Vontaze Burfict, who incidentally enough got himself suspended for the season yesterday).

But enough of this tragedy known as the NFL season 2019, and onto this delicious beer.

Currently on tap at Boneshire Brewery is two Tried and True variants. One of which is pineapple, the other being mango. I got to try the pineapple version at the Lititz Brewfest just before it ended and before I got to help Alan pack up / move equipment to his truck after it all ended. The pineapple version is absolutely delicious. But mango in beer is always a surefire way to make it good (in my opinion at least).

Tried and True is one of the biggest staples for Boneshire. I even have two cans in my fridge as we speak. (Saving them for a review as well coincidentally, having traded the other two for the Mississippi beer mail I received before, and the South Carolina beer mail I just received). Tried and True is a 5.5% ABV Witbier that is extremely delicious on its own right. Alongside other Boneshire Brew Works (BBW) staples of Green Machine, Iscariot, Angels on the Sideline, Lazarus, Dark of the Forest, Testify, and Devil’s Burden; this is one of their consistent staples that rotates on their system and is a beloved fan favorite. Its nice, juicy, soft, low-key (5.5%) and always hits the spot. So adding mango or pineapple can only make it better. Both variants are absolutely delicious and tweak the original and just make it better (or at least the same high quality but with a slightly different taste).

The juicy witbier from Boneshire Brew Works known as Tried and True — but with mangos!

Beer: Tried and True (Mango)
Brewery: Boneshire Brew Works
Style: Witbier
ABV: 5.5%
IBU: None
Untappd Write-up: Tried and True with mango.

The original Tried and True lists a 15 IBU, and has this for it’s Untappd write-up: This witbier, meaning “white”, is good for any occasion. With notes of orange peel, coriander, Belgian yeast, and wheat, this beer is sure to satisfy your thirst. Pours a slightly cloudy gold with a hue of orange and fluffy white head. Delicious.

Appearance is a beautiful golden orange. Juicy like orange juice, unfiltered looking, delicious looking. Poured to the top to almost overflowing by Jimi (one of the many favorite bartenders at Boneshire, along with Owen, Jared, Jason, Shawn, Alexis, or even one of the owners – Alan, Carson, or Alex; occasionally stepping in) there’s not much head to this, but a slight foam ring right at the top barely there. It looks like sun reflection through a window with that beautiful golden hue. The second picture I have here makes it look like it has a bit more haze and sediment then there really is, but it is hazy and it is cloudy and it is unfiltered, but in all the right ways.

Aroma is Tried and True esque and similar to how the original was, and similar to how the pineapple version I had at the Lititz Brewfest was. BUT, like the pineapple one, this one has a lot of mango in the nose (that one, obviously had a lot of pineapple in the nose). Very upfront heavy mango smell. Followed by the orange peel and coriander and a lot of the golden wheat smell that witbiers are known for. This is one of my favorite styles, mainly for the smell. Alongside many of the Belgian styles, you can smell the yeast strain in there. A staple for Belgian breweries this is just a fantastic style overall. You can smell the wheat and the Belgian yeast strain, you can smell the orange peel that is so characteristic of the style, and you can smell the various spices used, typically coriander, which is what Tried and True uses.

If you’ve ever had the Tried and True before, this tastes very similar, but you get punched in the face first by mangoes (and you didn’t even do anything to deserve it!) and then it goes into the true Tried and True (see what I did there?) taste. Extremely strong mango upfront that slides into the orange peel extremely well and like a perfect tandem, before sparking the coriander, the Belgian yeast, the softness of the wheat, and the juicyness that comes from the mango, as it all easily drinks down. It is quick to finish a pint of this and find yourself getting a second (and then third, and then fourth, and fifth, etc.), and at 5.5% ABV its not too bad on you either. You’re not going to get walloped after two or three of these, and it’ll pair so well with the new Smoked Blues BBQ truck next door or with a good steak, and potatoes, and green beans… ok, now I’m just making myself hungry (and its only breakfast time, and besides, like I’ve said before, I’m no foodie). I honestly don’t foresee this one lasting long at Boneshire, so I’d make good usage of it and stop in and drink it up yourself while you can. Maybe pickup some 4-pks to go.

My Untappd Rating: ****.25
Global Untappd Rating: 3.71 (as of 10.1.19)

And quickly, while I sat there, watching my Bengals jump up 3-0 it quickly, oh so quickly, vanished, into a final score thrashing of 27-3. Onwards Bengal Soldiers, onto 0-16! The road continues on with this beautiful 0-4 start. #tankfortua is going to be the hashtag most used in Cincinnati for this year I believe, despite the Bengals home office attempt to get people to use #seizetheDEY.

I know from talking to a few people who got to go to the Kennett Square Brewfest (so jealous) that the Tried and True (mango) was a huge hit, so I highly recommend everyone stops out to Boneshire Brew Works and give it a good solid try before its gone. Get the pineapple version as well for comparison sake.

Also, fresh Iscariot just hit the taps, and that is always a delicious Black IPA.

Iscariot (a black IPA) by Boneshire Brew Works

This is possibly one of my favorite black IPAs, which can be a miss or hit breed. And I always love seeing it come back on the taps and make sure to get a pint or two before its gone. (Which I had to do last night during the thrashing, and talking old Harrisburg Heat stories with Owen. Reminiscing on John Abe, Mark Pulisic, Scoop Stanisak, Bob Lilley, and the various other notable Heat alumni.) I figure I’ll save this for another beer review rather than doing a two-fer here.

As always, I have a ton of things in the pipelines here. As J. Doncevic said to me last night (he was one of the many playing D&D behind me at the tables), I currently have three opened tabs in the blog control panel for the various events and things I need to write up, including the Midwest Coast Brewing article that is nearing finishing (just waiting for their big weekend to settle down for them). I have the Lancaster Brewfest and the Lititz Brewfest to write up, as well as several beer reviews (like the Iscariot), and so much more, as always I’m running behind and their piling up. But October should be a good month to get them all written down and posted (some dating as far back as July). So be on the lookout for them and much much much much much more.

Currently we’re still listed at #11 on the Top 100 Best Beer Blogs, but it refreshes and reloads weekly – today at noon, so in my review of Iscariot tonight, I’ll be able to see where we stand after this week. We’ve been holding solid, so hopefully that continues.

I am astonished by how well the blog continues to grow in readership, we started out in May with only 100~ views, got to 1.2K in June, hit 2.5 in July, and 4K viewers in August, September concluded with 4.3K viewers, and here’s hoping October tops that and we get to 5K viewers. (These are poor month and not overall totals.)

J. Doncevic also said he has quite a few writings he wants to do, like a recap of the Kennett Square brewfest where he got to help pour for Rotunda Brewing Company, and many more things (like a lot of beer reviews, so be sure to check out his stuff, he gets to try a lot more eclectic things than I do it seems with Tavour and his friends trading with him, so you’ll see a multitude of whaler beers from him).

As always everyone, continue to hit the like, the follow and subscribe, and as always, make sure to leave comments, we love hearing from you guys, its always great to get in touch with our readers (potentially fans? too?).

Until tonight – keep those livers pumping, you’re going to need them boys (and girls)!

Only a good beer could get me through the travesty that was this Monday Night Football game…..

Dallas Brewery Creates “Eagle Tears” in Response to “Dallas Sucks” Ale https://thebeerthrillers.com/2019/08/18/dallas-brewery-creates-eagle-tears-in-response-to-dallas-sucks-ale/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=dallas-brewery-creates-eagle-tears-in-response-to-dallas-sucks-ale Sun, 18 Aug 2019 12:52:53 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15813 Dallas Brewery Creates “Eagle Tears” in Response to “Dallas Sucks” Ale

The fierce rivalry between Dallas and Philadelphia isn’t just confined to the football field anymore. It has spilled over into the craft beer scene, with breweries from both cities taking playful jabs at one another. This time, it’s Dallas’ Noble Rey Brewing Co. striking back with a beer they’ve named “Eagle Tears,” a direct response to Weyerbacher Brewing’s “Dallas Sucks” ale from Easton, Pennsylvania.

Eagles Tears by Noble Rey Brewing Company

A Tale of Two Beers

Weyerbacher Brewing lit the fuse in this rivalry with the release of “Dallas Sucks,” a light, approachable pale ale clocking in at 4.5% ABV. Perfect for a morning tailgate, it’s a brew designed to poke fun at Dallas fans while being easy to drink for Eagles supporters gearing up for game day.

Noble Rey Brewing didn’t take the jab lightly. Just a month after “Dallas Sucks” hit the shelves, they announced “Eagle Tears” on their Facebook page, boldly claiming, “When we heard some guys from PA made a beer called ‘Dallas Sucks,’ we did what we do best…make a better beer w/ a better name, & a WAY BETTER DESIGN!!!” While the all-caps enthusiasm raised some eyebrows, the sentiment landed: Dallas fans now have a comeback of their own.

What’s in a Name?

“Eagle Tears” might not win awards for originality in comeback strategy, but it’s undeniably clever in execution. The beer’s name, branding, and design lean heavily into the playful rivalry. The label features a sorrowful eagle shedding a tear—a not-so-subtle nod to Eagles fans after a tough loss to the Cowboys. But what about the beer itself?

Noble Rey describes “Eagle Tears” as a bold, hoppy creation—a hazy IPA with juicy citrus notes and a bitter finish. At 6.5% ABV, it’s a step up from “Dallas Sucks” in strength and complexity, giving Cowboys fans bragging rights in the beer department.

Brewing Rivalry: All in Good Fun

Joshua Lampe, Chief Operating Officer of Weyerbacher Brewing, said the idea for “Dallas Sucks” came from a tailgate session where a friend sported a shirt bearing the same slogan. “We decided to put a beer together and call it Dallas Sucks, because, honestly, they do,” Lampe joked. The beer’s lighter ABV was intentional, catering to tailgaters who want to enjoy a few brews before kickoff without overdoing it.

When Lampe heard about “Eagle Tears,” his reaction was laughter. “The ribbing and one-upmanship makes a sports rivalry fun,” he said. “If you can’t take a joke, you shouldn’t be in the beer business.”

Brewing Buzz Beyond the Game

This friendly feud is more than just a playful spat. It’s a testament to how craft beer culture intersects with regional pride and sports fandom. “Eagle Tears” and “Dallas Sucks” aren’t just beers—they’re part of the larger conversation about how local breweries can creatively engage with their communities.

But Noble Rey’s naming choice did stir up some unintended associations. A quick Google search reveals that “Eagle Tears” is also the name of a firearms lubricant company. While the beer and the product are unrelated, the shared name adds a humorous twist to the saga.

The Case for a Beer Showdown

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from this rivalry, it’s that sports fans love a good beer-fueled competition. So, why not take it a step further? A Flipadelphia-style tournament featuring “Dallas Sucks” and “Eagle Tears” would be the ultimate way to decide which city brews the best trash-talking beer. Fans from both sides could toast to the playful banter while celebrating the creativity and craftsmanship of their local breweries.

Final Thoughts

At the end of the day, “Eagle Tears” and “Dallas Sucks” are more than just beers—they’re a celebration of regional pride, community, and the camaraderie that craft beer fosters. Whether you’re an Eagles fan, a Cowboys die-hard, or just someone who loves a clever beer name, this brewing rivalry offers plenty to cheer about.

So, what’s your pick for game day? A refreshing sip of “Dallas Sucks” or a bold pour of “Eagle Tears”? Let us know in the comments below, and don’t forget to stay tuned to The Beer Thrillers for more craft beer news and reviews!
