Map of Delaware Breweries

Maps of Breweries in the United States

As a service and a resource to all of our readers, we are creating a full list of all of the breweries in the United States. Starting with Maine and working geographically we are planning on getting all 50 states done, as well as all territories and districts, as well as a fun map of all of the breweries we personally have been to. We are then planning to combine them all into one large map of all of America.

Who knows, if I’m not completely brain dead by the endeavor afterwards I might do Canada and Mexico as well, and then work our way through other countries.

I’m sure nearly as soon as I get each state done new breweries will open and old ones will close. So I am going to need some help from everyone to keeping these up to date. If you notice any breweries missing or ones that have closed, please let us know. Thank you so very much.

Map of Breweries in Delaware

The above is a map of breweries in the state of Delaware. If you know of any missing (or closed) please let us know by leaving a comment, using our CONTACT US page, or e – mailing us directly at thebeerthrillers@gmail.com

How to Use The Map

You can zoom in, and click on each of the beer mugs with the paw prints on them to see the breweries. This will call up their address via Google Maps, as well as any other information they have supplied to Google (phone numbers, websites, etc.). You can also save this map to your Google Maps so when you call up Google Maps these locations will be pinned onto your map as an overlay.

4 Great American Craft Beer Variety Packs For Memorial Day https://thebeerthrillers.com/2024/05/27/4-great-american-craft-beer-variety-packs-for-memorial-day/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=4-great-american-craft-beer-variety-packs-for-memorial-day Mon, 27 May 2024 12:47:09 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15061

Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a special occasion when America pauses to honor the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives in service to our Armed Forces.

It also signifies the unofficial beginning of summer, a season for cookouts and gatherings with friends and family over food and drinks. To make these celebrations even better, you’re going to need beer. Here are some fantastic new craft beer variety packs that are making buying in bulk exciting again!

Variety Packs

Perfect for Memorial Day picnics, get togethers, and grilling hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill – variety packs are a perfect pick-up item to grab at your local brewery (or grocery store or beverage distributor) and bring to that shindig.

Craft beer variety packs have become increasingly popular among beer enthusiasts and casual drinkers alike. These packs offer a selection of different beers from a single brewery, providing an excellent way to explore a range of flavors and styles without committing to a full six-pack of one type. For newcomers to the craft beer scene, variety packs serve as a gateway to discovering personal preferences, whether it be hoppy IPAs, rich stouts, or refreshing pilsners. This diversity within a single purchase can turn any beer tasting into a mini-adventure, perfect for gatherings and parties.

Beyond the sheer enjoyment of diverse flavors, craft beer variety packs also showcase the creativity and skill of the brewers. Many breweries use these packs to highlight seasonal or limited-edition brews alongside their core offerings. This not only gives drinkers a chance to taste unique and experimental beers but also helps breweries gain feedback on new recipes. The inclusion of special and sometimes exclusive beers in these packs can drive excitement and anticipation among craft beer fans, making the act of unboxing and sampling each beer a thrilling experience.

Additionally, craft beer variety packs are an economical choice for those looking to stock up for events or simply fill their fridge. Buying in bulk often comes with cost savings compared to purchasing individual packs of different beers. Moreover, these packs are convenient, offering an all-in-one solution for catering to diverse tastes within a group. Whether for a casual barbecue, a festive celebration, or a quiet night of beer tasting, craft beer variety packs provide a versatile and appealing option that enhances the enjoyment of high-quality, artisanal beers.

Summer of Sunshine

Troegs Brewing Summer of Sunshine Variety Pack

Hershey, Pennsylvania-based Tröegs Independent Brewing is embracing summer with a new variety 15-pack that includes a beloved year-round classic and four exclusive beers available only in the Summer of Sunshine Variety 15-Pack.

Here’s how the brewery describes the contents:

  • Sunshine Pilsner (4.5% ABV) – This award-winning American craft pilsner features a complex balance of two-row barley, zesty Saaz hops, and lager yeast. Secondary fermentation creates natural carbonation, delivering soft notes of fresh-cut straw and flowering herbs.
  • Sunshine Salt + Lime Lager (4.3% ABV) – This bright and crisp lager offers a zesty hint of lime and a touch of salt, perfect for transporting you to the shore. Exclusive to the Summer of Sunshine Variety Pack, it’s the ideal beach beer.
  • Summer’s Here Lager (4.2% ABV) – Made with pilsner malt and flaked rice, this exclusive lager employs krausening for a crisp finish and subtle fruity esters. Dry-hopped with Citra and Saaz, it showcases notes of bright citrus, lemon rind, and flowering herbs in a pale white-gold brew.
  • Leisure Cruise Raspberry Wheat (4.7% ABV) – This Raspberry Wheat Ale is a classic lighter-bodied beer with big flavor. Real raspberries added after fermentation ensure bright pops of fruit are front and center.
  • Perpetual Haze (7.5% ABV) – Combining the clean, crisp bitterness of a West Coast IPA with the softness of a hazy, this beer features pale malts for underlying complexity. Raw wheat, London 3 yeast, and vigorous dry-hopping create a haze that cradles a citrusy hop blend, with Citra and Cashmere unlocking juicy notes of orange, passionfruit, and nectarine.

Perpetual Exploration Variety Pack Volume 2

Perpetual Exploration Volume 2

If IPAs are your thing, the Tröegs Perpetual Exploration Variety Pack Volume 2 offers a fantastic selection of the brewery’s finest India Pale Ales, including:

  • Tröegs Perpetual IPA (7.5% ABV) – This Imperial Pale Ale is perpetually cycled using the brewery’s HopBack vessel and dry-hopping technology, creating a robust beer that can withstand the season’s cooling temperatures.
  • Tröegs Graffiti Highway (6% ABV) – This India Pale Ale features bright citrus and tropical fruit notes. Like many of Tröegs’ beers, this IPA began as a series of test batches in the brewery’s Research & Development brewhouse, known as the Scratch Lab.
  • Tröegs Field Study (6.2% ABV) – A slightly hazy IPA with vibrant grapefruit, mango, pear, and melon notes, it evolved from the brewery’s small-batch, experimental Scratch Series.
  • Tröegs LolliHop (8.2% ABV) – This Imperial IPA boasts a slightly hazy character with bright notes of pear, citrus, and a hint of melon, built on a sturdy foundation of Pennsylvania-grown Rustic pale malt.

Some of the Troegs best summer time IPAs all in one package. Perfect for the unofficial kick off to the summer. Troegs Brewing is open Memorial Day – 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM.

Dogfish Head Off Centered Variety Pack

Dogfish Head Off Centered Variety Pack

Milton, Delaware-based Dogfish Head’s Variety Pack features two fan-favorites, 60 Minute IPA and Slightly Mighty, along with the new Tasty Traveler Lager, and the Delaware-centric Blue Hen Pilsner, a beer developed at its small-batch brewpub in Rehoboth.

  • 60 Minute IPA (6.0% ABV) – This IPA is continually hopped for 60 minutes with a boatload of intense Northwest hops. The result is a brew that is abundantly hoppy without being overly bitter, showcasing bold citrusy and grassy hop flavors.
  • Slightly Mighty (4.9% ABV) – The top-selling lo-cal IPA in America, Slightly Mighty is a full-flavored IPA with just 95 calories per can. Brewed with a hint of monk fruit for added body and complexity, it delivers tropical notes of pineapple, coconut, mango, and citrus while being light in calories and carbohydrates.
  • Tasty Traveler Lager (5% ABV) – Making its debut, Tasty Traveler is a crisp, refreshing lager brewed with Oaxacan green corn, Baja Salicornia, sea salt, and Mexican lime juice, offering a unique and invigorating flavor profile.
  • Blue Hen Pilsner (4.8% ABV) – This crisp and refreshing pilsner is brewed with just four ingredients: water, yeast, earthy Saaz hops, and Delaware-grown and malted barley. The label pays homage to Dogfish Head’s home state, featuring the Delaware state bird and colors reminiscent of the Delaware state flag.

Widmer Brothers Hefe Variety Pack

Widmer Brothers Hefe Variety Pack

Portland, Oregon-based Widmer Brothers Brewing is celebrating Memorial Day Weekend with a new variety 12-pack that highlights their renowned American Wheat Beer style. The Widmer Brothers’ Hefe Variety Pack includes their flagship Hefeweizen along with several unique wheat ale variations.

Here’s what’s inside:

  • Hefe (4.9% ABV) – First brewed in 1986, Hefe was a groundbreaking creation for the Widmer Brothers. With its floral citrus notes, naturally cloudy body, and refreshing finish, Hefe was unlike anything they had ever tasted. This golden, cloudy brew became an international staple of craft brewing, known as America’s Original Hefeweizen.
  • Imperial Hefe (8.0% ABV) – A bolder version of the original American Hefeweizen, Imperial Hefe features a high ABV of 8.0% and prominent tropical hop notes. This beer exemplifies balance, offering a bold wheat flavor while remaining smooth, delicious, and elegant.
  • Widberry Hefe (4.9% ABV) – Infused with the sweet and juicy flavors of blackberries, Widberry Hefe combines these luscious berries with their signature wheat beer, capturing the essence of summer in a can. Refreshingly smooth and fruity, it offers a unique drinking experience.
  • Apricot Hefe (4.9% ABV) – Originally introduced as Velvet Summer, the brewery’s summer seasonal in 2023, this fan-favorite is now available year-round in the variety pack. Brewed with sun-kissed apricots, Apricot Hefe delivers a refreshingly fruity, bright, and juicy flavor profile perfect for any season.

Purchasing

Each of the variety packs can be bought at their respective breweries (Troegs Brewing in Hershey, PA; Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Milton, Delaware and Rehobeth Beach, Delaware; and Widmer Brothers in Portland, Oregon). As well as the Dogfish Head and Troegs Brewing variety packs are in their full distribution footprints (look for it in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Maryland, Washington DC, and surrounding areas). The Widmer Brothers Variety Pack is located throughout their distribution footprint in the upper Northwest Corner of the United States. As well as in select stores throughout the country.

Vader by Mispillion River Brewing Company

Dun Dun Di Dun… Dun Di Dun….

Thats my attempt at writing out the Imperial Theme anyway. (The above should work, its my first attempt at adding music to the blog, so hopefully I did it all right.) (After testing it – it looks to be good to go from my home.)

I figured this would be an appropriate first beer to review for our new Star Wars Fridays series. Previously we did Star Wars Wednesdays to coincide with The Book of Boba Fett episodes being released. Well this time, with the Obi-Wan Kenobi show being on Fridays, we switched it up to be Star Wars Fridays. Enjoy!

During The Book of Boba Fett season – seven episodes – we covered seven Star Wars beers. They were:

We also covered another beer review hidden in my analysis of The Book of Boba Fett show after it finished, wrapped up here:

  • The Book of Boba Fett (Analysis)

As for this beer, you can find me drinking it in the YouTube video me and my buddies made over on the Knights of Nostalgia page. Fair warning – there is a lot of swearing, dirty talking, drunken shenanigans, and flat out tomfoolery involved. You can find the video here: “The Book of Boba Fett – Discussion Piece.” You can find the YouTube channel here: Knights of Nostalgia (YouTube).

Obi-Wan Kenobi

So first, before jumping into the beer review, lets discuss why we’re here. And thats because its “Star Wars Fridays” here on The Beer Thrillers, and thats due to the new Obi-Wan Kenobi show.

As part of Star Wars Celebration, they announced they would be dropping the first two episodes at midnight (eastern time) rather than the usual 3AM. (Announced as being released at 9PM PT; which is where Star Wars Celebration was being held.) So that was a bonus fun treat, getting to watch Episode 1 and Episode 2 at midnight. (Ended up staying up til 3AM hyped from the show.)

This beer review is to coincide with the first episode. I will be posting later today, the second beer review to go along with the second episode. (I know, quite a few blog post drops in the past few days, between the various news related posts, and these beer reviews.)

That way I can keep each beer review / blog post detailing each episode and discuss that particular episode at the end of the the review. (The spoilers section.)

Ok, now that we’ve watched the trailer, and gotten adequately hyped on Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Star Wars, lets get on to the beer review.

Beer Review: Vader

Vader by Mispillion River Brewing Company

First, let’s take a look at Mispillion River Brewing Company on Untappd.

Mispillion River Brewing Company is listed as a micro brewery from Milford, Delaware. It has 507 unique beers and as total number of 128,908 ratings, with a global average of 3.68 (as of 5.27.22). Their Untappd bio reads: “Mispillion River Brewing was born from the love of craft brewing, art in its purest form! We at Mispillion River Brewing desire to continue this art form by brewing the finest craft beer. In 2011, Co-Founder, Eric Williams, told his wife and Co-Founder, “Megan, I am going to open a craft brewery in Milford!” After 2 years of planning, brewing (and tasting!!), traveling the country, and assembling a team of partners, we are set to open in the late Fall of 2013. We not only want to open a craft brewery but desire to open the best craft brewery. We will do this by combining the highest quality ingredients of barley, hops, water and yeast. We are targeting the entry level craft drinker, beer connoisseur, craft beer drinker, and the craft brewery enthusiast-that is our focus. Our mission statement sums it all up: Mispillion River Brewing aims to be recognized by its customers and the brewing industry for producing the highest quality craft beer. We honor craft brewing by using the highest quality ingredients, and strive for the best customer service in the industry. Craft brewing is a passion and exemplifies the love of life possessed by the MRB crew and the great community it serves.”

Beer: Vader
Brewery: Mispillion River Brewing Company
Style: IPA – Imperial / Double Black
ABV: 8.2%
IBU: 55
Untappd Description: From the darkness comes a beer that only the force will rival. This double black IPA is rich with hops and balanced with the dark side. If you are tempted by one, you will surely succumb to two!

As we normally do here on The Beer Thrillers, we start with appearance, then aroma, and then taste. And looking at this beer after its been poured, its downright dark and black. Black like Darth Vader’s suit itself (had to switch it up from my former used line of – black like Razor Ramone’s hair – RIP). It has a beautiful foamy head, and it looks downright delicious. Nice varied bubbles, good black hue for a black IPA, and a nice pour. Carbonation was on point.

Aroma has that nice dark IPA aroma to it; the malty notes come out first and foremost. You get some chocolate, earthy, bready malty notes, which then dives into the hops themselves – mainly from the mosaic you get a dankness and then citrus, almost even a sweet citrus hop note. There is a lot going on with the aroma to this in kind of a complex manner that leaves the nose hopeful for the beer itself.

This tastes like a very finely put together black IPA. One of my favorite ‘underrated’ styles. I don’t think Black IPAs get the press they deserve, let alone even actually receive, and I feel like the press they do get tends to be negative. Obviously their not the “in” beer style, like Hazy / Juicy New England IPAs are, and so right off the bat their not going to get the attention that those beers get. But having said my piece, I’m now going to focus on the beer at hand. Out of the gate, sipping this, you get notes of the roast malted, some chocolate overtones in the maltyness, and bready and earthy notes from a combination of the malts and hops I believe. This kind of segues itself into the middle of the beer which gets into the bitter, more roasted, almost porter like tastes, but never completely leans on that as its not a porter but an IPA. Which is where it finishes up at – all IPA baby. I would certainly say this is above average for most beers, and above average for its style. Its a nice surprise coming from Mispillion River Brewing Company, a brewery thats been on my list to hit next time we get into Delaware. I’ve mostly only gotten to sample from them at different brewfests and such and not had a whole lot of their stuff on tap or from the can, so this was a nice change of pace with them. And they certainly wow’ed me with it too. Its a good beer and a good piece of work from them, and the namesake for the beer works with its style and appearance perfectly.

My Untappd Rating: ****
Global Average Untappd rating: 3.84 (as of 5.27.22)

The Obi-Wan Kenobi Show

Ok, here’s where the spoilers are going to come in everyone. So if you don’t want to be spoiled, you can stop reading here, or you can zoom down to the bottom of the post where I wrap things up. Your choice on that. If you’ve seen Episode 1 (or Part I) of Obi-Wan Kenobi, then you may gladly stick around for the next few paragraphs of discussion.

Firstly, just to give some space for the spoilers, I’ll offer a few links for further discussion, if you find you want to read more about people’s thoughts on the show, you can check these out:

And here’s a fun little video to watch:

This was from last night at the Star Wars Celebration, involving Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen. Speaking of Celebration, they announced a new show called “Skeleton Crew” which will start Jude Law, and they gave a definitive date to the Andor show and showed a trailer for that as well. (I’ll probably cover that more in the next beer review, because otherwise that’ll just be too much here.) They also announced some more Star Wars books and showed some covers for existing already announced titles.

So anyway, onto my thoughts about the Obi-Wan Kenobi show – Part I.

Firstly – I absolutely loved it. This show is everything that The Book of Boba Fett wasn’t (but was supposed to be). A well thought out, a well paced, and a well written show. Ewan McGregor is such a phenomenal actor and you can tell he absolutely loves the character of Obi-Wan, that he downright feels him to the bone. The story of Part I makes good sense and I have no complaints about how they went about writing things. The opening of the Jedi Temple being attacked was strong and poignant (especially given recent USA events) but there’s no point really discussing it as its not much similarity and its still needed and necessary for the overall plot of the show (and Star Wars in general).

I enjoyed the idea of Leia being captured and that being the thrust to get Obi-Wan off planet. It makes sense that that would be the only thing that could get him to leave Luke and go off of Tatooine. Nothing outright contradicts anything previously established in the (new) canon, so far so good on that. It does border some things though that gets into a bit of a murkier territory. (Like how Anakin and Dooku dueled about 30 times in between Episode II and Episode III on The Clone Wars.) But nothing that blatant (yet).

The actress for Leia nails it and gives you that spunky attitude you expect out of Leia, and seems like a young Carrie Fisher. (Her running is weird though, but what kid doesn’t run weird.) They should have just had her immediately captured instead of having the weird awkward “kid eludes adults” while running bit. But hey, at least we got Flea in Star Wars now!

Its a much more grittier, somber, and darker story. Which is kind of what The Book of Boba Fett should have been. Tatooine is also shot better in this show, versus that of Fett too, which is a bit weird. Book of Boba Fett has kind of a glossier look to it, where as here, Tatooine is clearly grittier, dirtier, more real and lived in.

Costumes and set pieces and stuff look very impressive. Though there’s not too many “Star Wars” aliens. The aliens they do show look Star Warsy enough, but their not particular / specific aliens that we know and love from past movies and shows. (Think Twi’leks, Trandoshans, Wookies, Abyssins, Ithorians, Ishi Tibs, Chadra-Fans, Grans, Dugs, Gungans, Klatoonians, etc, etc, etc.)

But all in all, I loved it, and it left me wanting more. So I can’t wait. Later today I will be posting another beer review (Green Milk) and doing Part II discussion. Also tonight, I will be on the Knights of Nostalgia Twitch page. You can find us here: Knights of Nostalgia (Twitch).

Road Trip: Day Two https://thebeerthrillers.com/2021/11/19/road-trip-day-two/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=road-trip-day-two Fri, 19 Nov 2021 11:53:48 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=8278
Burnish Beer Co.

Day Two Begins

Its now 6:30AM and Day Two is about to begin (leaving and packing up here at the hotel). Today we are taking the ferry across from Lewes to Cape May, and then will be traveling up from South Jersey to Philly (and then eventually back home to Harrisburg.)

Day One Recap

So yesterday turned out to be a bit ‘too ambitious’. We ended up hitting:

  • Jailbreak Brewing
  • Cult Classic Brewing
  • RAR Brewing
  • Burnish Beer Co
  • Burley Oak Brewing

There was a lot more planned, but we just ended up running out of time. We didn’t end up hitting any of the Delaware breweries, including the bump up into Lokal Branch (my partner in crime said it looked too full). We ended up hitting Burley Oak and staying nearly an hour and a half and didn’t have enough time to stop at Dewey Beer Co or Dogfish Head (Dogfish Head closed at 8, and Dewey closed at 9).

We one hundred percent loved the breweries we did get to stop out at. Burnish Beer Co is very new (and you can tell) but the beers were good and they have a great place. RAR and Burley Oak Brewing are obviously notables and great beers and breweries. The new Laboratory section of RAR was really cool. Jailbreak and Cult Classic were also really fun stops.

Day Two Hopefuls

Hopefully today we can stay on time and task better. We will be leaving on the Lewes Ferry to Cape May shortly, and then once over there, we will be doing Gusto Brewing, Cape May Brewery, and then working our way up South Jersey through places like Bonesaw, Death of the Fox, Glasstown, etc, and then crossing over into Philly, where we are looking to hit Humanrobot, Love City, Brewery ARS, Fermentation Foam, Crime and Punishment, and Monk’s Cafe before heading home, and hopefully hitting Tired Hands.

*Fingers Crossed we get it all done*

Cheers everyone!

Beer Review: Isolation Anniversary Beer (Aslin Beer Company) https://thebeerthrillers.com/2020/10/25/beer-review-isolation-anniversary-beer-aslin-beer-company/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=beer-review-isolation-anniversary-beer-aslin-beer-company Mon, 26 Oct 2020 03:15:00 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=4856
Isolation Anniversary Beer by Aslin Beer Company

Welcome back to round number two of the four rounds of four beers I had during the last streaming I did with Drew on Knights of Nostalgia. The first was Pixels by Seminar Brewing, this is the second, the third will be Great Notion Brewing’s Fruit Monster, and the fourth will be Elder Pine Brewing and Blending’s Villeinage. (Spoiler alert: all four beers were really good.)

Aslin Beer Company is one of the many great breweries along the East Coast. In the middle of the East Coast; Virginia, Maryland, D.C, West Virginia, Delaware area; Aslin Beer Company, Burley Oak Brewing Company, The Veil, The Answer, Adroit Theory, Dewey Beer Company, are often mentioned on “must visit” and “top breweries” and “great” lists; they are usually the sought after, the traded for (the Facebook group ISO / FT), and the breweries that people mule back from. So needless to say, it’s fantastic to see some of these breweries (notably Aslin Beer Company and Burley Oak Brewing Company) popping up in distribution (distro) in the area. Breski’s Beverage on Eisenhower Boulevard (outside of Harrisburg between Harrisburg and Middletown) has been getting some wonderful cans from both breweries, as well as many other notable breweries, and is always worth checking in to see what they currently have in stock.

The mix-a-six selection at Breski’s and similar places are phenomenal right now (…phenomenally tasting; horrible on your wallet however). Last Tuesday before stopping at Tattered Flag for their Taco Tuesday, I stopped at Breski’s and got two mix-a-six six-packs (and paid about 60$), but picked up some tremendous beers; like the Isolation Anniversary Beer, two Great Notion beers, a pilsner (Billsner) from Burley Oak, a Black is Beautiful from Non Sequitur, Stickman’s The Growfather (can’t resist a good Godfather pun), two from Stranger Root’s Experimental Ales, Alarmist, Atlantic, etc. All in all, a wonderful selection of beers that you will be seeing reviews of (at least nine out of the 12 anyway, and hopefully in a timely fashion).

So, since I have a ton of reviews to do, and limited time (don’t we all limited time afterall?) I better get right down to this and do this beer review shouldn’t I?

Ok…. lets do it!

Isolation Anniversary Beer by Aslin Beer Company

Beer: Isolation Anniversary Beer
Brewery: Aslin Beer Company
Style: IPA – Imperial / Double Milkshake
ABV: 9.4%
IBU: None
Untappd Description: (Blank)

Always a little disappointing to see the description left blank (its nice to see notes from the brewers / brewery, or maybe a joke or pun, or some context behind the beer or the beer name, or why or how it was brewed, if it was a collaboration, if its someone’s favorite recipe, or something at least), but I think this beer doesn’t really need a description, as it stands on its own.

Appearance is similar to that of a New England IPA; its opaque, its hazy, its bright, and orange, and glowing, but its even thicker than a normal New England IPA looks. It has ‘floaters’ especially if you don’t roll it before opening it up and pouring it. Its very well carbonated and has a great foamy white head, with a good pour it has just the right amount of head, with a bad pour I could picture this filling a whole glass with just head. The bubbles on it are nice and it leaves a nice lacing in the glass. It’s turbid, busy, and active.

The nose on this is hoppy, juicy hoppy, citrusy hoppy, but also creamy and vanilla and lactose, like silky smooth creamy milk with lots of fruity, citrus, juice, hops in it. I get mango, peach, citrus, a bit of zest, and a small whiff of grapefruit hop notes in this blended with the vanilla sweetness and cream of the lactose.

First sip… wow. Second sip… double wow. This has a LOT going on. Which is not a fault or problem at all; granted sometimes it can be, but not in this case. This has a lot going on, but all in proportion to the beer itself and within its style and how the beer is supposed to be. It’s not going off into all kinds of different places with varied and confusing mixtures of flavors, or with off flavors, or with competing notes. This just has a lot going on within it, but all with a purpose, all within the style, and all just how you should want it. Its a milkshake, its a hop bomb, its juicy, its turbid, its hazy, its strong, its delicious. Most importantly…. its delicious. And… did I mention yet…. that its delicious? This was hands down my favorite of the night, and it was the boldest, most flavorful, and had the biggest wallop of flavors, notes, aromas, hop, juiciness, and outright drinkability. I could easily kill a four pack of these, and probably in short time too; its just that drinkable. Which is scary at its 9.4% ABV, but it doesn’t feel heavy, or boozy, or knocking you on your face and teeth skittering across the cement floor of the basement kind of alcoholic; its just crushable but at a higher ABV. This is like drinking a smooth, juicy, silky, creamy, orange juice with the fruity citrus juicy hops in for extra flavor. Just like with aroma, I got mostly mango and peach with the flavor, but also got citrus, some zest, and a teeny weensy bit of grapefruit. I do have to say, as much as I could crank down a four pack of this, as someone with lactose intolerance, thats probably not a great idea. These milkshake IPAs and milkshake sours and such with some having an insane amount of lactose in them (this one probably has a rather large amount in it) typically give me some ‘gastro’ issues next morning when I wake up. One or so don’t usually hurt too much, but after that it starts pushing it, especially with the very heavy lacto ones.

My Untappd Rating: ****.5
Global Untappd Rating: 3.98 (as of 10.25.20)

After wrapping up the beer review here, I wanted to do a bit more research on the beer for the blog, so I did a quick Google search (ASLIN ISOLATION ANNIVERSARY BEER) and the first site was their online ordering form for the beer, which you can find here: Order Isolation Anniversary Beer. It also came with a description for the beer which reads:

“🎉 ISOLATION ANNIVERSARY BEER 🎉 Today‘s the day we opened our (garage) door 5 years ago! 🍻In honor of the 1825 days that have passed since then, we bring you our Aslin ISOLATION ANNIVERSARY BEER. Soft ripe yellow peach, mango, and passionfruit unite with explosively juicy results, and a full-bodied, perfectly zippy taste that finishes off with woody resin notes from Cypress & Sugar Maple wood. This is juicy fruit flesh squeezed into a hazy DIPA!! We’re raising a glass of this to all of you for your incredible support that has helped bring us to YEAR 6. Hang tight, this is not the only drop in our 5th Anniversary series! 🎉 🍻”

Also came with a picture:

Aslin Isolation Beer (Picture courtesy of their Online Order Form: https://www.aslinbeer.com/online-ordering/Isolation-Anniversary-Beer-DIPA-4-Pack-p236935594)

Hopefully that provides a bit of closure on the beer and fills in for the lack of a description on Untappd for everyone.

As always everyone, thanks for reading, and be sure to check back soon as I do the other two beers, as well as some recent travelogues (just did a recent hike with my faithful canine companion Leela to the Pinnacle Overlook in Hamburg and stopped at 1787 Brewing Company and Schaylor Brewing Company). As always, there is a ton to check out here on the blog, so be sure to be on the lookout, hit the subscribe and follow button, and always feel free to comment, we love to hear from you!

Also, in recent news, the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) 2020 ended (their 34th edition; this year virtually rather than in person in Boulder, Colorado), and they’ve announced their winners. You can see what Pennsylvania Breweries won here. As well as the 2020 NAGBW Awards.

Cheers everyone, and stay safe and healthy out there with all the rises in COVID cases. Remember to mask up, remember to wash hands, and most importantly: remember to drink some great craft beers!
