Gettysburg is currently home to Fourscore Beer Co and Pilger Ruh Brewing. (As well as having had Tattered Flag and Appalachian Brewing Company there.) (Pilger Ruh Brewing Expanding into Gettysburg)

Brink Brewing Co. Expands Production and Patio Space in Cincinnati’s College Hill https://thebeerthrillers.com/2024/05/07/brink-brewing-co-expands-production-and-patio-space-in-cincinnatis-college-hill/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=brink-brewing-co-expands-production-and-patio-space-in-cincinnatis-college-hill Tue, 07 May 2024 18:22:24 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15559 Brink Brewing Co. Brink Brewing Co. Expands Production and Patio Space in Cincinnati’s College Hill

Brink Brewing Co. Expands Production and Patio Space in Cincinnati’s College Hill

Brink Brewing Co., an award-winning Cincinnati craft brewery, is nearing completion of a significant expansion at its College Hill location. The project includes a new production space, a dedicated canning line, a barrel-aging room, and a larger patio, with construction expected to wrap up this summer.

Located at 5905 Hamilton Ave., Brink Brewing is expanding into the adjacent building at 5909 Hamilton Ave., adding an additional 2,400 square feet to its current 3,200-square-foot space. This expansion will enable the brewery to significantly boost its production capacity and packaging capabilities.

Brink initially considered expanding outside College Hill, but after discussions with the College Hill Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation (CHCURC), they decided to keep the investment local. According to Andrew McCleese, founder and director of operations, “We explored opening a second location, but the costs were high. Instead, we opted to grow right here in College Hill.”

The brewery officially purchased the adjacent building in September 2023, and construction began shortly after. The $300,000 project includes a $180,000 investment in new equipment like a canning labeler, palletizer, walk-in cooler, and pallet stacker. The expansion is expected to allow Brink to produce 85% of its beer in-house, up from just 30% in previous years.

Production Boost and Future Plans

In 2023, Brink Brewing produced 1,200 barrels of beer, ranking as the 18th-largest brewery in the Cincinnati area. With the new canning line and additional space, the brewery plans to produce up to 900 barrels in-house, continuing its relationship with Impact Brewing for contract brewing of its flagship IPA and core brands.

“We’re leaving room to add more tanks in the future if needed,” said McCleese. “This expansion gives us flexibility to grow our production and canning operations as demand increases.”

Increased Distribution and Visibility

Thanks to a new partnership with Heidelberg Distributing, Brink Brewing has significantly expanded its brand presence. The brewery’s products can now be found in Great American Ball Park and at major events like Taste of Cincinnati, further boosting its visibility in the region.

Brink has also seen success in retail, securing placements in 72 Kroger stores by 2021, alongside multiple awards, including three consecutive Great American Beer Festival gold medals for its Moozie milk stout. The brewery has been recognized as the Best Very Small Brewery in the United States two years in a row.

Expanded Patio and Community Growth

Brink’s expansion isn’t just about production. Its patio space is doubling in size to 3,000 square feet, providing a more inviting space for guests. This upgrade is part of a collaboration with CHCURC and Cincinnati’s outdoor improvement program.

“We were one of the first businesses to invest in College Hill when there wasn’t much happening here,” said McCleese. “It’s been incredible to grow alongside the neighborhood.”

Brink Brewing Co. opened its doors in 2017, founded by Jack Duncan, Mark Landers, and Kelly Montgomery, who turned a homebrewing hobby into an award-winning brewery. McCleese, a long-time friend, joined early on, helping the brewery maintain its focus on small-batch, organic growth.

Tröegs Independent Brewing, a leader in Pennsylvania’s craft beer scene, has unveiled ambitious plans to expand its Hershey-based brewery, continuing the brand’s legacy of growth and innovation. The brewery recently broke ground on a 15,000-square-foot addition, located at the northwest corner of the facility, that will house a cutting-edge canning line.

According to co-founder Chris Trogner, the new canning line is set to transform their production capabilities. “The addition will allow us to separate bottling from canning, significantly boosting the speed, capacity, and quality of our canned beer,” says Trogner. “Plus, we’ll have the flexibility to introduce new pack types.”

The canning line is scheduled for completion this fall, signaling the brewery’s commitment to meet growing demand for its canned products.

In addition to the canning line, Tröegs is also expanding its parking capacity. By midsummer, the brewery will add 100 new parking spaces, providing easier access for visitors. Temporary fencing may impact parking availability during construction, but the improvements promise a better experience for guests in the long term.

John Trogner, co-founder of Tröegs, notes that expansion has always been part of their DNA. “We’ve been under construction for 25 years,” says Trogner. “Our goal is continuous improvement. We’re always planning for the future—whether it’s one year, five years, or 20 years ahead—to make Tröegs the best it can be.”

Imprint Beer Co. Doubles Production with New Tanks – What It Means for Craft Beer Fans https://thebeerthrillers.com/2019/05/23/imprint-beer-co-doubles-production-with-new-tanks-what-it-means-for-craft-beer-fans/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=imprint-beer-co-doubles-production-with-new-tanks-what-it-means-for-craft-beer-fans Thu, 23 May 2019 14:30:46 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15628

Imprint Beer Co., located in Hatfield, PA, has quickly made a name for itself in the craft beer world since its opening in September 2018. In less than a year, demand has skyrocketed, and the brewery is now expanding its capacity to keep up with the thirst for its innovative brews. Thanks to the installation of larger brewing equipment, Imprint is set to double its production, making it an exciting time for craft beer lovers.

We recently sat down with co-founders Ryan Diehl and Richard “Sid” Sidman to discuss this rapid growth, and what beer enthusiasts can look forward to as Imprint scales up.

Imprint Beer Co. Doubles Production with New Tanks – What It Means for Craft Beer Fans

The Imprint Experience

Imprint Beer Co. has gained a loyal following with its diverse and bold lineup, which includes IPAs, kettle sours, fruited pale ales, and their iconic “Schmoojee” series. Known for delivering intense and vibrant flavors, Imprint’s popularity is reflected in the buzzing atmosphere during any can release day. The energy is electric, and the demand for their limited-edition releases has only grown stronger.

That’s why the need for an expansion came sooner rather than later. “We’ve been blown away by the support,” says co-owner Ryan Diehl. “To keep giving our customers what they want, it became clear we needed to increase our brewing capacity.”

Doubling Capacity: New Equipment, New Possibilities

The expansion includes the addition of two new 15-barrel fermenters and a 15-barrel brite tank, which significantly boosts their brewing power. These join the brewery’s original setup of four 7-barrel fermenters and two 7-barrel brite tanks. With the new equipment, Imprint will be able to double its production, targeting an annual output of approximately 1,100 barrels.

But the production boost is just the beginning. The new tanks allow Imprint to can more beer than ever before. By teaming up with a mobile canning service, they’ll now be able to can beer on a four-week schedule, ensuring fans always have access to their favorite brews. They’re also expanding their cooler space by 50% to accommodate the increased volume of cans and crowlers, and they’ll be adding 12 more taps behind the bar to support even more on-site options.

More Brew Days, More Beer

To meet this increased demand, Imprint Beer Co. is shifting from brewing two days a week to four. They’ve also brought on additional brewing staff to manage the larger workload and ensure the high quality of their beer remains consistent as they scale. “This is a huge step for us,” adds Richard “Sid” Sidman. “We’re committed to growing responsibly and keeping the quality of our beer front and center.”

While Imprint does distribute to a handful of local accounts, the primary focus is on taproom sales. Keeping most of the product in-house allows them to offer an unbeatable experience for customers who come to the brewery for fresh beer, limited releases, and an ever-rotating selection of experimental brews.

What This Means for Imprint’s Future

The new tanks are already installed, and the brewing process is well underway. The expansion not only meets current demand but sets the stage for even more growth in the coming years. For craft beer fans, this means more frequent can releases, a wider selection of beers on tap, and a growing lineup of exciting flavors that Imprint has become known for.

For those who haven’t yet visited Imprint Beer Co., now is the perfect time to stop by, grab a pint or a crowler, and see why this brewery is quickly becoming a staple in Pennsylvania’s craft beer scene. With new tanks, more beer, and a growing presence, Imprint is poised to make an even bigger mark on the craft beer world.
