Iron Hill Brewery Closes Phoenixville Location

In a surprising turn for the Phoenixville community, Iron Hill Brewery, a staple in the heart of downtown for over a decade, has officially closed its doors. Confirmed by employees and reported by local sources, the closure leaves a noticeable gap on the popular Bridge Street—a hub for locals and visitors alike. Iron Hill Brewing in Phoenixville was located 130 Bridge Street.

Why Did Iron Hill Close?

While the exact reasons for Iron Hill’s closure remain unconfirmed, speculation points to common challenges faced by many local establishments: rising operational costs, increased competition, and evolving consumer preferences. This year alone has seen several Phoenixville institutions struggle, with PJ Ryan’s, a beloved spot for 16 years, also closing its doors this past August. The economic pressures on small and midsize businesses, particularly in the hospitality sector, continue to reshape Phoenixville’s dining and nightlife landscape.

Located at 130 Bridge Street, Iron Hill Brewery’s prime location sits across from Sedona Taphouse and down the block from other local favorites like Soltane Cafe and The Boardroom Game Cafe. While no announcements have been made regarding a new tenant, Bridge Street’s popularity suggests that another bar or restaurant may soon move in. Whether it becomes another local gem or a unique dining experience, it’s clear that Iron Hill’s closure opens up new opportunities.

Remaining Iron Hill Locations

For those looking to get their Iron Hill fix, the brewery’s other locations, including one in nearby West Chester, remain open and fully operational. While the Phoenixville closure is disappointing for local fans, Iron Hill’s regional footprint continues to grow and thrive, with additional locations throughout the area. There’s plenty more like the one in Hershey PA, as well as some in Georgia, New Jersey, Delaware, and elsewhere in Pennsylvania. We’re soon coming up on Black Friday – November 24th 2023 – and in the craft beer world that means the release of stouts. Big, dark, heavy, glorious stouts. Its “finally” Stout Season!

This is also the big Goose Island Bourbon County release each year, and to counter that – many smaller breweries across the country, and in Pennsylvania in particular, do big stout releases of their own, or events celebrating the stouts they have. Black Friday 2023

So this Black Friday, instead of running around chasing the newest Bourbon County Releases and buying up all that AB InBev, why not hit up some of your local craft breweries doing big releases or beer events for Black Friday. Theres so many good stouts (and porters, and schwarzbiers, and other dark beers) to be had just in your own backyard in Pennsylvania. Here alone by us in Central PA we have a lot of great choices for dark beers – from YAH Brew, Moo – Duck Brewery, Troegs Independent Brewing, Boneshire Brew Works, etc, etc, etc, etc.
