Storm the Field!

A couple of weeks ago we announced and shared information on our social media pages of Sworn Brewing, Antifragile brewing, and Warwick Farm Brewing being at the Troegs Brewery to collaborate on an upcoming beer for the Hoppy Valley Brewfest. The three visiting breweries met up at Troegs Brewery to brew a West Coast Double IPA. Part of a series of collaborations for the year that Troegs Brewing is doing (they’ve also collaborated with Dewy Beer Co, Tonewood Brewing, Free Will Brewing, and more).

As of right now, it looks like there will be limited kegs available, as well as being poured at the Hoppy Valley Brewfest on May 11th in Beaver Stadium, as well as 16 oz pounder cans for sale. No word on how much allotment will be at each brewery or if it will see distribution at all.

Hoppy Valley Brewfest

The Hoppy Valley Brewfest is the first brewfest to be held inside Beaver Stadium. It will be held on May 11th, 2024. For more information go to our Hoppy Valley Brewfest page: Hoppy Valley Brewfest at Beaver Stadium. With a list of 100+ breweries from the East Coast area with some huge heavy hitters like Sworn Brewing, Fidens Brewing, Adroit Theory, Other Half, and so many more; it is shaping up to be one amazing brewfest. You can get tickets from the link above.

Sworn Brewing

Sworn Brewing is a new brewery (not even a year old yet) from Mechanicsburg, PA. Fast getting a name for themselves for their incredible beers. To get a look at their brewery from when we had a sneak peek before they opened, check out our article here:

Antifragile Brewing

Another fantastic brewery, from the heart of State College, PA. We got to visit Antifragile last November after Amy’s Alzheimer’s Walk to End ALZ in State College, and its a great brewery with amazing beers. Definitely check them out when you are up in the area.

Warwick Farm Brewing

Warwick Farm Brewing is located in Jamison, PA on a wonderful farm brewery setting. With gorgeous views, fantastic beers, it is a fantastic brewery to get to visit, drink, and hang out at. Picnic tables outside, large open spaces outside and inside, perfect summer drinking spot.

Troegs Brewing to Release Second Cut this Spring https://thebeerthrillers.com/2023/10/14/troegs-brewing-to-release-second-cut-this-spring/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=troegs-brewing-to-release-second-cut-this-spring Sat, 14 Oct 2023 12:33:00 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=13135

Troegs Brewing to Release Second Cut

Troegs Independent Brewing is set to release Second Cut – a bigger version of First Cut – this Spring (Spring 2024).

Much like they’ve made “double” versions of their other beers – Double Nugget Nectar (Nugget Nectar), Double Blizzard (Blizzard of Hops), Triple Nator (Troegenator), and most recently Double Perpetual and Triple Perpetual (Perpetual IPA) – they are making a ‘double’ version of First Cut.

First Cut represents the first cuttings of the hops as the hops begin to grow, a pruning to let them be able to create big and strong vines.

Where First Cut is typically a late February – March release, Second Cut will likely be end of March to middle of April for its release. The beer will be a double IPA brewed with mango as well as Comet and Simcoe hops and it will clock in at around 9.5% ABV. It will be released at the brewery in 16 oz pounder cans, both as singles and as four packs. There is possibility of distribution, but it is doubtful.

First Cut

The First Cut is a fan favorite and has a bit of a ‘cult following’ at the brewery. It is a 6.2% IPA – American style, with 45 IBU. Its typically released late February to early March each year at the brewery in Hershey. It has over 52,000 ratings on Untappd with a global average rating of 3.79 (as of 10.13.23). The Untappd description reads: Each spring, hop growers dust off their pruning shears and trim the first shoots, bolstering the bines for a rich growing season. First Cut – a mouthful of silky Simcoe and a touch of mango – is a nod to this ritual, without which the world would be a less hoppy place.

Bourbon Barrel Aged Triple Nator Releasing at Troegs Brewery https://thebeerthrillers.com/2023/09/07/bourbon-barrel-aged-triple-nator-releasing-at-troegs-brewery/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=bourbon-barrel-aged-triple-nator-releasing-at-troegs-brewery Thu, 07 Sep 2023 17:29:21 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=12385

The Father of All Nators

So we’ve got the Troegenator, we’ve gotten the Triple Nator… and now we got the grandaddy of them all – the Bourbon Barrel Aged Triple Nator. (And don’t forget, next spring we’ll be getting the Little Nator.)

Troegs Brewing has been releasing some stellar beers recently – Oktoberfest, Hop Cyclone, and now Bourbon Barrel Aged Triple Nator – with Master of Pumpkins coming in two weeks time, as well as a Schwarzbier, a Lemon Raddler, and a Rauchbier for the Oktoberfest; and then in time for Christmas they are bringing the Cookie Stout back out, as well as Naked Elf and of course Mad Elf.

Lots of great beers coming from the fantastic brewery in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Bourbon Barrel Aged Triple Nator

The grandaddy of all the Nators – the Bourbon Barrel Aged Triple Nator is the Triple Nator (Troegenator times three) stored in bourbon barrels and aged for over a year.

Some quick stats on this beast of a beer:

ABV: 14%
IBU: N / A
Malt: Pilsner, Munich, Caramel, Chocolate, Special B
Hops: German Northern Brewer
Yeast: House Lager
Additions: Demerara Sugar, Dark Candi Syrup

From Troegs Brewers and Beer Notes website on the beer:

This is the big, malty and ageable Triple Nator with a bourbon-barrel twist. Munich malt, chocolate malt and Belgian candy sugar deliver deep toffee and complex malt notes, and months in bourbon barrels add hints of toasted coconut, vanilla and molasses. Put it in a glass or put it in your cellar. The next chapter is yours.

We taste: deep toffee, layers of complex malt, hints of toasted coconut, vanilla and molasses

Availability

The Bourbon Barrel Aged Triple Nator releases today at the brewery only. Its a part of their splinter series; so you will be able to get it at the bar – in a cork and caged bottle – or from the general store (in cork and caged bottles only). 13.20$ per bottle (or cheaper in a 4 pack). Unknown how long this one will last, so you certainly won’t want to miss out on it.
