Tree House Brewing Co. Sets Its Sights on Boston Expansion https://thebeerthrillers.com/2024/11/16/tree-house-brewing-co-sets-its-sights-on-boston-expansion/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=tree-house-brewing-co-sets-its-sights-on-boston-expansion Sat, 16 Nov 2024 15:48:12 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15712 Tree House Brewing Co. Sets Its Sights on Boston Expansion

Tree House Brewing Co., the juggernaut of craft beer with a fiercely loyal fanbase, is about to shake up the Boston craft beer scene in a big way. Known for its hazy IPAs, luscious stouts, and now spirits, the Massachusetts-based brewery is planning a two-story taproom and brewery in the heart of Boston. Here’s everything you need to know about this exciting new chapter for Tree House—and why Boston beer lovers should be thrilled.

Tree House Brewing Company

From Curbside to Full Service at the Prudential Center

Tree House is moving beyond its current curbside pickup setup on Huntington Avenue at the Prudential Center. The new expansion will feature a full-service taproom, kitchen, and brewery. This isn’t just about enjoying Tree House beer on-site; the plan also includes serving their distilled spirits—marking a new dimension to the Tree House experience.

The details? Tree House’s proposed two-story, 35,000-square-foot space will include:

  • First Floor: Brewing and distilling operations, storage space, and a commercial sales area.
  • Second Floor: A sleek on-premise consumption area with seating for 121 guests, restrooms, and additional storage.
  • Outdoor Patio: A perfect spot to enjoy a pint with views of the bustling Prudential Center area.

The Prudential Center is located at 800 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02199.

A Glimpse at Tree House Brewing’s Growth

Tree House Brewing has come a long way from its original Charlton roots. With six operational locations across New England, including breweries in Monson, Deerfield, and Sandwich, Massachusetts, as well as a Farm Fermentory in Woodstock, Connecticut, and even a golf course taproom in Tewksbury, this brewery is a force to be reckoned with.

Their Saratoga Springs, New York, location is still under construction, but the Boston expansion signals their commitment to bringing their fan-favorite brews—and growing spirits program—closer to urban craft beer enthusiasts.

The company currently has five locations: Charlton, South Deerfield, Sandwich, Tewksbury and Woodstock, Connecticut, with Saratoga Springs under construction. The Saratoga Springs location is Tree House’s first location outside of New England and second outside of Massachusetts.

Why This Expansion Matters

Tree House isn’t just a brewery; it’s an experience. The brand has built its reputation as the largest direct-to-consumer on-premises brewer in the U.S., drawing more than 1 million visitors annually. Their move to Boston represents more than just a physical expansion—it’s about meeting their fans where they are while staying true to their ethos of delivering exceptional quality.

For Boston craft beer lovers, this means access to fresh Tree House beer and spirits without the road trip. And for the uninitiated, it’s a golden opportunity to discover why this brewery has such a cult following.

What’s Next for Tree House?

This isn’t Tree House’s first foray into Boston—their summer beer garden at the Prudential was a hit. Now, with a permanent space in the works, it’s clear Tree House is here to stay.

While the opening date hasn’t been confirmed, one thing is certain: this new location is poised to become a must-visit for craft beer fans in Boston and beyond.

For more information on their future plans, you can check out Tree House Brewing’s official website where they discuss that: Future Plans.

Final Thoughts

Tree House Brewing Co.’s Boston expansion is big news for the local craft beer community. With its signature beers, growing spirits line, and a prime location, this taproom promises to be an instant hit. Whether you’re a seasoned Tree House devotee or a first-time visitor, keep an eye on this space—it’s set to be a game-changer.

Have you visited any Tree House locations? What’s your go-to Tree House beer? Drop a comment and let’s talk craft beer! Cheers!

Rubber Soul Brewing to Open New Taproom Saturday

This Saturday – June 22nd, 2024, Rubber Soul Brewing is set to open their brand new taproom on North Hanover Street, in Hummelstown PA.

After quite a while building the brand new building (and not without some town controversy) the opening is right around the corner. The new taproom will also host their brewery in the lower level (visible from the giant parking lot). Their original location will now just be a full restaurant and taproom. (See: A Sneak Peek at Rubber Soul Brewery.)

Original Location

Rubber Soul Brewing was originally intending to open their first location in Hummelstown around March of 2020, but with the pandemic, things got pushed back, and they finally held their grand opening in October of 2020. Their current location is in the old Hummelstown Police and Borough Building, located at 136 S Hanover St, Hummelstown, PA 17036.

The current plan for the original location is that they have removed the brewing production from the location to their new brewery facility and taproom, and extending the seating and restaurant.

New Location

Rubber Soul Brewing’s New Taproom Interior (photo courtesy of Rubber Soul Brewing)

The new location is located at 17 N Hanover St, Hummelstown, PA 17036, just 0.3 miles north of their current taproom (on the same street). The new facility took over an old warehouse that formerly sat on the property, as well as Maritza’s House of Style, which they had removed for extra parking. The new taproom has their brewing facility on the lower level, and the upper level features a deck and patio area that faces the 7-11 across the street and some abandoned buildings / businesses.

Hummelstown is currently in the midst of a big tourism push, including the mayor, the governor, and other officials and board members (some of which are involved with Rubber Soul Brewing). At a town meeting where they got permission to bulldoze the Maritza House of Style (despite having full ownership technically as per law at the time), Rubber Soul Brewing stated that their parking lot would be usable by the public for events in town including the parades, carnivals, as well as parking for other Main Street square activities (2nd Friday’s, Memorial Day, etc.)

The old warehouse which was removed was listed as 17 North Hanover Street. As per their Facebook post their brewery’s address will be “21 North Hanover Street”.
Rubber Soul Brewing Company was originally a brewery located in Salisbury Maryland. They were bought and are now owned by Ghost Brewing LLC. They were bought whole-stock, meaning the equipment, recipes, and social media passcodes and usage were all part of their purchase.

They are listed as a brew pub from Hummelstown, PA. They have 123 unique beers and over 51,000 ratings, with a global average rating of 3.77 (as of 6.21.24). Their Untappd description reads: “We are pumping the air back into the tires of Rubber Soul Brewing Company. New location, new owners, new (and familiar) beer…same old sOul! In this world of instant gratification, superficial “likes” and followers instead of friends, we think it’s more important than ever to find your sOul. See, more and more often, people are so focused on doing what’s ‘right’ by someone else’s standards, obsessed with how other view them that they forget who they are. They give and give and give, follow all of the rules and do all of the ‘right’ things, until one day they wake up and realize their empty. Spend 5 minutes on social media and you will see countless bright pictures of smiling faces, but how many of us are genuinely satisfied? We’re talking deep, within your sOul, fire blazing, satisfied. At Rubber Soul, our mission is to refuel each and every sOul that walks through our doors. Our craft beer and local vibe is the end result of people who decided to just go for it and follow their passion, regardless of the opinion of others. We look forward to welcoming you to our brewery. No judgements. No impossible standards. #NoFilter. All that we require is that you do a little sOul searching.

Michaux Brewing Expanding to Gettysburg

The expansion news continues in Central PA (and Pennsylvania beer in general). Michaux Brewing just announced that they will be expanding into Gettysburg, adding a taproom there. It was just two years ago they opened their current location (July 3rd 2022). (Michaux Brewing Grand Opening.) Its great to see them expanding in less than two years, and into a wonderful beer city. Gettysburg is currently home to Fourscore Beer Co and Pilger Ruh Brewing. (As well as having had Tattered Flag and Appalachian Brewing Company there.) (Pilger Ruh Brewing Expanding into Gettysburg)

Announcement

💥GETTYSBURG… HERE WE COME!💥

We are excited to officially announce that Michaux Brewing Company is expanding! We will be opening a second location in downtown Gettysburg this summer! After months of planning and a lot of help from our friends and family, the space is looking great. Our official opening date is still TBD, but we will be sure to keep you updated!

We want to give a special shoutout to Kenny @blue_shift_industries who helped in the visualization of the future taproom. His rendering of the space is on point!

Stay tuned for updates on the Gettysburg location!

Brink Brewing Co. Expands Production and Patio Space in Cincinnati’s College Hill https://thebeerthrillers.com/2024/05/07/brink-brewing-co-expands-production-and-patio-space-in-cincinnatis-college-hill/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=brink-brewing-co-expands-production-and-patio-space-in-cincinnatis-college-hill Tue, 07 May 2024 18:22:24 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15559 Brink Brewing Co. Expands Production and Patio Space in Cincinnati’s College Hill

Brink Brewing Co. Expands Production and Patio Space in Cincinnati’s College Hill

Brink Brewing Co. Expands Production and Patio Space in Cincinnati’s College Hill

Brink Brewing Co., an award-winning Cincinnati craft brewery, is nearing completion of a significant expansion at its College Hill location. The project includes a new production space, a dedicated canning line, a barrel-aging room, and a larger patio, with construction expected to wrap up this summer.

Located at 5905 Hamilton Ave., Brink Brewing is expanding into the adjacent building at 5909 Hamilton Ave., adding an additional 2,400 square feet to its current 3,200-square-foot space. This expansion will enable the brewery to significantly boost its production capacity and packaging capabilities.

Brink initially considered expanding outside College Hill, but after discussions with the College Hill Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation (CHCURC), they decided to keep the investment local. According to Andrew McCleese, founder and director of operations, “We explored opening a second location, but the costs were high. Instead, we opted to grow right here in College Hill.”

The brewery officially purchased the adjacent building in September 2023, and construction began shortly after. The $300,000 project includes a $180,000 investment in new equipment like a canning labeler, palletizer, walk-in cooler, and pallet stacker. The expansion is expected to allow Brink to produce 85% of its beer in-house, up from just 30% in previous years.

Production Boost and Future Plans

In 2023, Brink Brewing produced 1,200 barrels of beer, ranking as the 18th-largest brewery in the Cincinnati area. With the new canning line and additional space, the brewery plans to produce up to 900 barrels in-house, continuing its relationship with Impact Brewing for contract brewing of its flagship IPA and core brands.

“We’re leaving room to add more tanks in the future if needed,” said McCleese. “This expansion gives us flexibility to grow our production and canning operations as demand increases.”

Increased Distribution and Visibility

Thanks to a new partnership with Heidelberg Distributing, Brink Brewing has significantly expanded its brand presence. The brewery’s products can now be found in Great American Ball Park and at major events like Taste of Cincinnati, further boosting its visibility in the region.

Brink has also seen success in retail, securing placements in 72 Kroger stores by 2021, alongside multiple awards, including three consecutive Great American Beer Festival gold medals for its Moozie milk stout. The brewery has been recognized as the Best Very Small Brewery in the United States two years in a row.

Expanded Patio and Community Growth

Brink’s expansion isn’t just about production. Its patio space is doubling in size to 3,000 square feet, providing a more inviting space for guests. This upgrade is part of a collaboration with CHCURC and Cincinnati’s outdoor improvement program.

“We were one of the first businesses to invest in College Hill when there wasn’t much happening here,” said McCleese. “It’s been incredible to grow alongside the neighborhood.”

Brink Brewing Co. opened its doors in 2017, founded by Jack Duncan, Mark Landers, and Kelly Montgomery, who turned a homebrewing hobby into an award-winning brewery. McCleese, a long-time friend, joined early on, helping the brewery maintain its focus on small-batch, organic growth.

Pour Man’s Brewing Has Acquired St. Boniface Brewing Company

Just announced (less than fifteen minutes ago) via social media, Pour Man’s Brewing Company out of Ephrata PA, has acquired St. Boniface Brewing Company (also out of Ephrata, PA). They made an announcement on their social media (see quote below) that lists a FAQ with news and notes of their acquisition.

St. Boniface Brewing

St. Boniface Brewing is located at 1701 W Main St, Ephrata, PA 17522.

They also own the Tied House in Lititz (which Pour Man’s Brewing did not purchase).

St. Boniface Brewing has been looking to sell and has been ‘on the market’ for just about two years now.

More Information on St. Boniface Brewing

The following comes via Untappd.

St. Boniface Craft Brewing Co. is a micro brewery out of Ephrata, PA. They have 284 unique beers and over 125,000 ratings, with a global average rating of 3.8 (as of 4.30.24). Their Untappd description is blank.

The Announcement

One of our biggest goals at Pour Man’s, outside of providing great beer and service, has always been to grow deep roots in our community.  That’s why when the opportunity came for us to purchase St Boniface Craft Brewery we jumped right in.  We love brewing beer for Central PA and our surrounding areas as well as running our taproom right here in Ephrata, and this opportunity allows us to do more of just that! There are so many details we could go on and on about, but the most important thing we want to talk about is how excited we are to continue to grow Pour Man’s and Boniface right here in Ephrata!
With Love, Ryan, Sam & James
To answer some questions, we made a quick Q&A section below and of course we will continue to provide details throughout the entire process.
Will you be changing the beers?
For the most part no. We have been drinking Boniface beers since their original location and we plan to bring back some beers from the past and also introduce rotating new beers as well.
Will you be changing the food?
Absolutely not! The food is amazing! We would like to eventually introduce some rotating specials.
Is this just a second location for Pour Man’s?
No, we will continue to operate the Boniface brewery and taproom in Ephrata as its own company.  Of course, we will make it our own with some tasteful tweaks but it will still be Boniface.
Are we also buying Tied House?
No
Will Boniface beers still be available in wholesale?
Yes! With the combined production of Pour Man’s and Boniface we plan to deliver more beer all over central PA.
Why own a second brewery right in Ephrata?
We feel the two places offer a different enough product to both be successful. By combining our brewing/wholesale productions we can reduce overhead and be a more efficient business.

(We will eventually get to the US Territories, as well as the Canadian Provinces, and possibly more countries; as well as doing some fun maps like a map of all the breweries we’ve been to, and other fun maps.) You can find the brewery maps here:

We are also working on a project of creating printable and downloadable PDFs and resources to be able to check and keep track of all of the breweries you’ve been to. So stay tuned for that project once we are finished with the Brewery Maps of the US States.
