Troegs Independent Brewing will be releasing Hopora on Monday, July 15th

Hopora Returns This Monday

For its second year, the seasonal release of Hopora is here again. Last year Hopora was released for the first time by Troegs Independent Brewing – their newest seasonal beer and IPA. (Troegs Brewing Adds Hopora to Their Seasonal Hop Cycle Series.)

Back for its second year, this new and popular IPA will be released at the brewery in Hershey on Monday July 15th (2024). It will then be going out to the full distribution footprint of Troegs within the week or so. (You can always use their brew-finder to find the beer.)

Hip Hop Hopora

Troegs Brewing Company has introduced Hopora IPA – their newest seasonal beer as part of their Hop Cyclone Series. Releasing Monday July 15th 2024 when the brewery opens, Hopora IPA is a 6.2% ABV Hazy tribute to all things Hops.

Hopora is a tribute to the hop spirit for a bountiful crop. Built on pale malt, oats and wheat, this IPA showcases Solero hops. Radiant notes of tropical citrus are supported by grapefruit rind and subtle pine from Citra and Chinook. Immerse yourself in the juicy aura of our crisp seasonal ale.

A tribute to the hop spirit for a bountiful crop, Hopora was designed to showcase the radiant tropical fruit and citrus notes of Solero hops, the Hershey-based brewery said in a press release on Monday.

Troegs Independent Craft Brewing Company has been long known for making some remarkable IPAs; seasonal and year round, as well as one off scratch releases. Some ‘hall of fame’ favorites from the local community are Nimble Giant, Perpetual IPA, Lollihop, Blizzard of Hops (and its bigger, bolder, badder cousin Double Blizzard of Hops), Field Study, Cultivator, Crimson Pistil, Hop Horizon, Hop Knife, etc, etc, etc.

Troegs Brewing Company is set to hit their 27 year anniversary this week as well. This past week they released their Original Pale Ale (only on draft in the tasting room), as well as the return of Blackberry Tizzy.

Little Nator Releases on Monday – January 29th, 2024

This Monday Troegs Independent Brewing will be releasing their latest seasonal – Little Nator. Its the rascally cousin to the Troegenator! Unlike the bigger 8.2% version, this spring time lager is just 5.5% and perfect to sit and enjoy a few at a time. Lighter in body and in ABV, this is a wonderfully well rounded beer.

Recently releases as an unfiltered version as Scratch 506, the Little Nator makes its debut on Monday – January 29th, 2024 as the new seasonal beer by Troegs Independent Brewing. We first announced the release of this back in September – Troegs Brewing to Release Little Nator in Spring 2024 – and we gave some information on it there:

It will be coming in at 5.5% ABV, and will be sold in 12 oz cans. This will become a seasonal release each year, so it will also be hitting distribution as well.

It is brewed with Pilsner and caramel malts as well as Tradition, El Dorado and Hersbrucker hops.
Troegs Brewing to Release Little Nator in Spring 2024

The Little Nator is coming out in 12 oz cans, 12 oz bottles, and will also be sold in the Perpetual Exploration Variety Pack (PEVP).

The Perpetual Exploration Variety Pack

The Perpetual Exploration Variety Pack (or PEVP) will also be releasing on Monday – January 29th. This will be taking the place of the “Canthology” series of variety packs that Troegs Independent Brewing has been releasing.

The variety pack is a 12 pack of 12 oz cans, and contains:

3 Perpetual IPA
3 Sunshine Pilsner
3 Little Nator
3 Lollihop DIPA

The variety packs will also see small distribution, and make perfect pick-ups for those who haven’t gotten to try all of Troegs beers before.

Little Nator

The Little Nator is the “rascally cousin” of the Troegenator. Or in Troegs Independent Brewing’s own words:

Here at Tröegs, spring is in the air as we begin to thaw out of winter’s deep freeze. With warm weather on our minds, we’re excited to release our brand new seasonal, Little ‘Nator Springtime Lager.

This light bronze-toned lager is built on a foundation of caramel and pilsner malts to lend notes of crusty bread. Weighing in at 5.5% ABV, Little ‘Nator is modeled as a lighter take on our iconic Troegenator Double Bock.

Hopped with El Dorado, Hersbrucker and Tradition, Little ‘Nator displays hints of stone fruit and delicate floral notes. And, our house lager yeast ties it all together with a touch of fruity esters and a sweet but crisp finish.

DuClaw Brewing Adding Sweet Baby PB and J

Move Over Sweet Baby Jesus… There’s Sweet Baby PB and J Coming Through

DuClaw Brewing – already well known for their Sweet Baby Jesus is now adding Sweet Baby PB and J to their lineup. One of the stand outs in the Eastern Coast region for Peanut Butter beers – Sweet Baby Jesus has been a beer go – to for many craft beer enthusiasts for years.

Now, DuClaw Brewing is adding an exciting comparable variant to that Sweet Baby Jesus: Sweet Baby PB and J.

Sweet Baby PB and J is a chocolate peanut butter raspberry porter. It will be hitting in at 6.2% ABV and will be sold in 12 oz cans and likely 12 oz bottles. They took their base of Sweet Baby Jesus and added the raspberry to make the Sweet Baby PB and J. Sweet Baby Jesus comes in at 6.2% ABV as well, and is also available in 12 oz cans and bottles throughout the DuClaw / River Horse distribution footprint.

River Horse Acquiring DuClaw Brewing

Just recently – June 1st 2023 – River Horse Brewing Acquired DuClaw Brewing. Hot on the heels of F.X. Matt / Saranac Brewing Acquiring Flying Dog Brewery – River Horse Brewing out of Ewing New Jersey announced they acquired the Baltimore brewery DuClaw Brewing. The acquisition by River Horse Brewing allows them to distribute more, and have multiple facilities to brew out of. DuClaw Brewing still brews out of Baltimore MD, and are distributed with the Ewing, NJ’s breweries distribution ability.

What All Does This Entail

For the moment, it looks like not a whole lot for the consumer. It would appear that both River Horse Brewing Company and DuClaw Brewing Company beers will be appearing on shelves (with possibly greater distribution); on the production side of things, it looks like the two breweries will be using each other’s production facilities and brewhouses.

This should likely increase both brands distribution footprint. But no word on that, or guarantee of that yet. No word on the specifics of the deal yet either.

Troegs Brewing Adding Graffiti Highway IPA and DIPA

On the upcoming release schedule Troegs Brewing is going to be releasing Graffiti Highway IPA and Graffiti DIPA.

They are likely to come out as scratches first, then be finalized into one time beer releases.

The above is the release image for Graffiti Highway IPA. It is likely to come in at 6% ABV, and will be released in 12 oz cans. There is a barcode with the above can label and artwork, so it will likely be seeing distribution and won’t be in house only. But look for it to be released at the Troegs Brewery on Hersheypark Drive in Hershey, PA soon.

Graffiti Highway Double IPA is also a future release that Troegs Brewing is planning on doing. Not sure if it will be released paired with Graffiti Highway IPA or if it will be a separate release. But Graffiti Highway Double IPA is projected at being a 9.5% ABV DIPA.

These both look to be fruit-forward hazy IPAs.

The Graffiti Highway IPA is looking to be released in 12 oz cans, and interestingly the Graffiti Highway DIPA is looking to be released in the 19.2 oz cans – and possibly tied in with a specialty koozie (foam can sleeve) that is designed for 19.2 oz cans.

Naked Elf is Returning to Troegs Brewery in 2023

Mad Elf’s Naughty Cousin is Returning

The Mad Elf’s naughtier cousin (is there even such a thing?) is returning later this year. The Naked Elf – a variant of the Mad Elf – will be coming out sometime in mid to late November.

The difference between Mad Elf and Naked Elf…. isn’t just a lack of clothing; its all the other dressings! Naked Elf is a stripped down version of Mad Elf. The cherries, the honey, and even the chocolate malt are all stripped out, leaving just a very good Strong Belgian Ale.

The Belgian-style ale uses Crystal, Munich and Pilsner malt, and without the cherries, honey, and chocolate malt it loses some of the sugars that keep fermenting and giving it a higher OG and ABV. Instead of the 11% ABV that Mad Elf has – Naked Elf is going to be coming in at 8.2% ABV this year.

Naked Elf will be released as 12oz cans in both the anthology and on its own, and will be on draft when released on its own. Make sure to check out Troegs Brewery to have it on draft. It will see distribution in the form of the anthology box and you can always use the Troegs Brewfinder to find the beer.

You’ve probably seen these at Sheetz, Rutters, and WaWa’s; the New Trails Broken Heels and Double Broken Heels, Yuengling Lages, New Belgium select VooDoo Rangers, and Troegs Independent Craft Brewing’s Perpetual IPA – well now, you’ll also be able to get Joose Juicy also in those big boys!

19.2 oz cans hit the spot perfectly, a great one can shot at getting a beer you want, and at a good value.
