You can read more about the Hops and Vines for Hunger Campaign here:

The Hops and Vines for Hunger 2023 Campaign

The following comes from their campaign (Our Programs) page:

Pennsylvania boasts over 800 breweries and wineries combined across the state — and that number is growing. But just as these numbers are increasing, so are the number of food insecure families and individuals across Pennsylvania. In fact, nearly 2 million Pennsylvanians struggle with hunger every day – including nearly 500,000 children.

That’s why Feeding Pennsylvania, PA Eats, and Breweries in PA are joining forces with local breweries and wineries across the state through Hops & Vines for Hunger — a month-long, statewide fundraiser throughout November. The campaign will aim to:

  • Raise funds to maximize the work of Feeding Pennsylvania’s 9 member food banks and serve Pennsylvanians facing hunger;
  • Support the development of nutrition education resources created by PA Eats to educate food-insecure Pennsylvanians on how to prepare simple, accessible meals with affordable, healthy ingredients commonly found in food pantries;
  • Promote the support of local breweries and wineries across the Commonwealth.

This iconic collaboration between America’s oldest brewery and the legendary chocolatier has quickly become one of Pennsylvania’s most anticipated seasonal releases.

Whether you’re a loyal fan or a first-timer, here’s everything you need to know about this decadent brew that’s capturing hearts (and taste buds) across the state.

Yuengling’s Hershey Chocolate Porter is Back

What Makes Hershey’s Chocolate Porter Special?

Yuengling’s Hershey’s Chocolate Porter combines the brewery’s nearly 200-year-old Dark Porter recipe with Hershey’s world-famous chocolate. At 4.7% ABV, this American porter boasts a rich blend of Hershey’s chocolate syrup, cocoa powder, and cocoa nibs, creating a flavor profile that’s both smooth and indulgent.

Each sip delivers a balanced experience: roasted malts from Yuengling’s Porter meet the sweet, velvety finish of Hershey’s chocolate. It’s a pairing that feels both nostalgic and innovative—a true crowd-pleaser for beer drinkers and dessert lovers alike.

Food Pairings to Elevate Your Experience

Wondering what to enjoy with your Hershey’s Chocolate Porter? This versatile beer pairs beautifully with a variety of flavors:

  • Chocolate Desserts: Amplify the rich cocoa notes by sipping it alongside brownies, chocolate mousse, or a slice of chocolate cake.
  • Barbecue: The porter’s subtle smokiness complements the charred flavors of ribs, pulled pork, or brisket.
  • Cheese: For a savory twist, try it with sharp cheddar, creamy brie, or a smoky gouda.

This beer’s versatility makes it a perfect choice for holiday gatherings or cozy nights by the fire.

Where to Find It

As of now, Yuengling’s Hershey’s Chocolate Porter is hitting shelves wherever Yuengling products are sold. Keep an eye out at your local distributor or favorite bar, as this beer tends to fly off the shelves quickly!

Why Yuengling and Hershey Are the Perfect Match

Both Yuengling and Hershey are Pennsylvania icons with deep-rooted histories. Yuengling, based in Pottsville, has been brewing since 1829, making it America’s oldest brewery. Hershey, founded in 1894, is a name synonymous with chocolate worldwide.

This collaboration celebrates the best of Pennsylvania’s craft and culinary traditions, making it more than just a beer—it’s a sip of history.

Consumers will also be able to find retail promotions featuring: The University of Kentucky Athletics signage in their favorite stores, bars, and restaurants.

Responsible Drinking

Responsible drinking and college students can be a fraught endeavor, but Yuengling Brewing as well as the Athletics Department, the Educational Board, and the University of Kentucky as a whole are standing behind this partnership, and also working with maintaining responsible drinking with their students – as well as legal drinking for the students; with watchful eyes on those under 21.

The flagship Yuengling Lager as well as their FLIGHT beer will be on hand at all of these sporting events. FLIGHT makes for a great light, low ABV, and easy to drink alternative for the students who might be drinking too much or are not experienced drinkers.

Yuengling Partnerships with College Athletics

This isn’t the first partnership with colleges and collegiate athletic endeavors for Yuengling Brewery. They also have partnerships with the University of South Florida, the University of Central Florida, Western Kentucky University, Rice, Georgia State, and Coastal Carolina.

Yuengling has also recently sponsored and partnered with FC Austin.

When scanned, the QR code will immerse fans in a digital Stars & Stripes experience, inviting users to enter an exclusive giveaway to win a Lee Brice Party Pack; learn more about Team RWB and donate to the organization; listen to Lee Brice’s new album called “Hey World”; and tour America’s Oldest Brewery or shop online for Stars & Stripes merchandise.

“I am thrilled to be part of Yuengling’s efforts to support Team Red, White, and Blue with these limited – edition cans. I can’t think of anything better than saluting our troops with a nice, cold Yuengling beer this summer.”

Lee Brice, Musician

Wendy Yuengling, Charity, and Aaron Nola

To kick off the start to the limited-edition camo can season and this year’s Stars & Stripes program, Wendy Yuengling, alongside Aaron Nola, Philadelphia Phillies Pitcher and Yuengling Brand Ambassador, presented $55,000 to Team Red, White & Blue’s Executive Director Mike Erwin. As the nation’s leading health and wellness community for veterans, this support will enable us to deliver consistent events and programming for years to come.”

Yuengling Looks to Go West – Into Texas https://thebeerthrillers.com/2021/01/14/yuengling-looks-to-go-west-into-texas/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=yuengling-looks-to-go-west-into-texas Thu, 14 Jan 2021 18:12:42 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=7040
Yuengling’s Hershey Chocolate Porter – poured at Boneshire Brew Works in 2019

“Go West, young man, and grow up with the country.”

Horace Greeley (Hints Toward Reforms) [1850]

Go west ‘young Yuengling’ and grow up the brewery. In news today, America’s oldest active brewery, Pennsylvania native from Pottsville Pennsylvania, D.G. Yuengling & Son Inc. is expanding westward – into Texas. The aim is for the expansion to be completed by year’s end of 2021.

Currently Yuengling has a 22 state shipment and footprint, mostly along the East Coast of the United States. They have production facilities in Pennsylvania (Pottsville) and Florida (Tampa Bay area). This move would ensure they expand their reach, with the millions that live in Texas and neighboring areas.

“We have heard from consumers all over the country who are excited to enjoy our beer, which is why we’re proud to announce that Texas will be the first western state we’ll be expanding to,” said Wendy Yuengling, Chief Administrative Officer and 6th generation family member, D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. “We are working hard to ensure our recipes and brewing traditions will be followed to our high-quality standards. We have passionate Yuengling fans in Texas, so we are excited to finally bring them the goods.”

Yuengling Is Growing

Yuengling Traditional Lager (photo courtesy of Yuengling’s Website)

In 2020 D.G. Yuengling & Son Inc. and Molson Coors launched a joint long-term brewing relationship – The Yuengling Company. (September, 2020). This is their first expansion since this relationship was announced. In 2019, Yuengling first released their collaboration with Hershey’s Chocolate Company – the Hershey’s Chocolate Porter (Yuengling). It was first released draft only to select bars, restaurants, and breweries in 2019, and then released in bottles and draft in 2020; it has come to some acclaim among many beer drinkers, Hershey’s fans, and Yuengling fans, although those in the craft beer industry have stated that the beer comes up a bit short of most craft brewery offerings, but have said they still enjoyed the beer ‘for what it is’.

(SEE OUR BEER REVIEW OF THE YUENGLING HERSHEY’S CHOCOLATE PORTER)

The beer will be brewed locally, in Fort Worth, at the Molson Coors brewery located there. The brewery opened on September 26th, 1969. Its located at 7001 South Fwy, Fort Worth Texas, 76134. And this will be the third production facility or Yuengling Brewing.

Gavin Hattersley, the President and CEO of Molson Coors said: ““We are excited to take the first step in our long-brewing partnership, a step that will provide tremendous growth opportunity for Yuengling and Molson Coors. By brewing Yuengling’s iconic beer at our world-class Ft. Worth facility, we are going to make a lot of Texans happy.”

No word on what all brands and beers and styles will be brewed at the location. Most likely the Traditional Lager will be brewed there. Amongst more than likely others of their celebrated list (such as their Black and Tan, Oktoberfest, and numerous other offerings).
