In an effort to help end period poverty, the brewery is offering gift card credit in exchange for much needed period supplies.

Lakefront Brewery’s Period Drive 2025

Lakefront Brewery is proud to announce the return of its 3rd Annual Period Supply Drive, held in partnership with Milwaukee Diaper Mission, on Sunday, May 4th, from 11am to 5pm. Lakefront aims to surpass previous collections and help Milwaukee Diaper Mission continue the vital work of combating period poverty in the Milwaukee area. Since launching its first Period Supply Drive in 2023, Lakefront has collected nearly 17,000 period products at various events. Their 2024 drive alone brought in 6,275 products, making it Milwaukee Diaper Mission’s top period supply drive event for that year. With your support, they hope to collect even more this year.

To encourage donations, Lakefront Brewery will be offering $0.25 in gift card credit for each individual disposable pad or tampon donated, redeemable in their Beer Hall that day or during any future visit. There is no limit to the amount you can donate; the more you give, the more you get back.

Two in five menstruators have struggled to purchase period products in the past year due to a lack of income. Milwaukee Diaper Mission is a nonprofit basic needs bank that distributes essentials like period products through a network of trusted local social service agencies. With a 50% increase in demand over the past year, the organization now serves 1,800 menstruators and needs support to continue meeting a growing need.

What to Donate:

Milwaukee Diaper Mission accepts all period products, but super absorbent and overnight varieties are needed most. Only unopened packages will be accepted, and gift card credit will be provided for tampons and pads only.

Can’t make it down on May 4th but still want to show your support? Visit Milwaukee Diaper Mission’s website here: https://www.milwaukeediapermission.org/period-program

MILWAUKEE DIAPER MISSION IS BACK AT LAKEFRONT BREWERY, LOOKING TO PILE THE DIAPERS EVEN HIGHER https://thebeerthrillers.com/2025/01/28/milwaukee-diaper-mission-is-back-at-lakefront-brewery-looking-to-pile-the-diapers-even-higher/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=milwaukee-diaper-mission-is-back-at-lakefront-brewery-looking-to-pile-the-diapers-even-higher Tue, 28 Jan 2025 18:35:36 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15909 MILWAUKEE DIAPER MISSION IS BACK AT LAKEFRONT BREWERY, LOOKING TO PILE THE DIAPERS EVEN HIGHER

MILWAUKEE DIAPER MISSION IS BACK AT LAKEFRONT BREWERY, LOOKING TO PILE THE DIAPERS EVEN HIGHER. Lakefront and Milwaukee Diaper Mission team up for their 3rd annual diaper drive, after 2 successful events in 2023 and 2024.

Lakefront Brweery Diaper Drive 2025

Lakefront Brewery’s 2024 diaper drive was the 2nd biggest donation intake event for Milwaukee Diaper Mission bringing in 9,300 diapers and over 19,000 wipes. Lakefront is eyeing that top spot and is asking the community to help get diapers into the hands of the people who need them most.

“Milwaukee Diaper Mission has been such a local hero to the Milwaukee community”, says Liz Mauritz, Lakefront’s Ripple Effect donation program coordinator, “they continue to grow and expand their reach, so we’re excited to support their continued success. Learning how many caretakers struggle with such a basic need as diapers is heartbreaking. Our diaper drives give us that avenue to activate our space and make a difference. As a family-friendly establishment, we see this as an opportunity to give back.”

On Sunday, February 16th, bring in as many unopened, fully packaged, disposable diapers as you want to Lakefront Brewery from 11AM to 4PM and receive Lakefront cash in return. For every diaper you donate, you will receive $.25 (25 cents) in Lakefront Brewery gift cards to spend in their Beer Hall that day or any day in the future. Lakefront will also be accepting fully packaged baby wipes and training pants, giving out $.25 for each pair of training pants and for every 10 wipes. Milwaukee Diaper Mission will accept all applicable items they can help distribute but please be aware that diapers, training pants, and wipes will be the only items accepted for Lakefront Brewery gift cards.

Milwaukee Diaper Mission does note that they’re most in need of 2, 3, 5, and 6-size diapers. If you can’t make it down to Lakefront but still want to show your support? Visit Milwaukee Diaper Mission’s website here: https://www.milwaukeediapermission.org/

Milwaukee Diaper Mission is a basic needs bank. They partner with local social service agencies to provide a reliable source of essentials, including diapers, something that shouldn’t be considered a luxury, but a need. One in two families in the U.S. lack the funds to keep up with their diaper needs. Milwaukee Diaper Mission utilizes a distribution model that is efficient and cost-effective, ensuring that diapers get in the hands of those who need them most.

LAKEFRONT BREWERY PARTNERS WITH RIVERWEST ELEMENTARY TO RAISE IMPORTANT FUNDS FOR THEIR STUDENTS https://thebeerthrillers.com/2024/08/15/lakefront-brewery-partners-with-riverwest-elementary-to-raise-important-funds-for-their-students/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=lakefront-brewery-partners-with-riverwest-elementary-to-raise-important-funds-for-their-students Thu, 15 Aug 2024 13:52:10 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=15407

Lakefront looks to a variety of ways to fundraise for the school’s eco-friendly playground renovation designed by community partner, Reflo

LAKEFRONT BREWERY PARTNERS WITH RIVERWEST ELEMENTARY TO RAISE IMPORTANT FUNDS FOR THEIR STUDENTS

The local brewery’s Ripple Effect donation program continues to look for ways to better the community around them. Starting August 13th, they will begin their initiative to help raise funds to redevelop a greener, healthier, and safer schoolyard for the students of Riverwest Elementary. “We want to help the youth in our community feel valued and worthy of a proper place outside of their school to partake in activities that nurture their full potential”, says Liz Mauritz, Lakefront’s donation program coordinator.

Riverwest Elementary has partnered with local nonprofit, Reflo, who has designed a renovation to the school’s outdoor space that will remove 27,200 square feet of asphalt and replace it with new green space and mixed-use recreation and educational areas. The plan would manage approximately 137,615 gallons of stormwater per rain event and provides much safer play for the kids. Learn more about the project by going here: https://refloh2o.com/riverwest-elementary

Much like their famous, “Putin is a Dick” crowler initiative for relief in Ukraine, they are now selling specially designed “Fund the Fun” crowlers. Lakefront will match an added $5 cost to make a $10 total donation for each “Fund the Fun” crowler sold. Crowlers are 32-ounce cans that can be filled and sealed with any Lakefront beer on tap. “Fund the Fun” crowlers are available in person or by ordering ahead for pick up through their website. Additionally, for the entire month of September, Lakefront patrons may opt to round up their bill to donate to the cause.

The marquee fundraising event will be an Adult Spelling Bee at Lakefront Brewery Beer Hall on Thursday, September 19th. Lakefront will welcome teams to purchase a table and participate in a bar trivia-style spelling bee where they will work together to properly spell each challenging word. Tables will cost $120 (plus fees) and teams will be allowed up to 6 total people to compete. All table costs will be donated to the project as well as $1 of every beer purchased that day. The top 3 teams will take home Lakefront gift cards as prizes. Funds from a silent auction featuring an array of items will also be donated to the project that night, including a signed Damian Lillard jersey and basketball!

The event will get underway at 5:30PM with the Spelling Bee beginning at 6:30PM. Lakefront welcomes all to stop by and get involved, guests are not required to have a spelling bee table to enter. Table reservations are available through this link: https://www.exploretock.com/lakefront-brewery/event/497996/adult-spelling-bee-fund-the-fun

Riverwest Elementary has indicated that the redevelopment will cost over $200,000, so they hope the community can rally around the project and participate at any level within their means.

New Trail Brewing Releases State Light Peach for Happy Valley United https://thebeerthrillers.com/2023/12/14/new-trail-brewing-releases-state-light-peach-for-happy-valley-united/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=new-trail-brewing-releases-state-light-peach-for-happy-valley-united Thu, 14 Dec 2023 16:10:55 +0000 https://thebeerthrillers.com/?p=13277 New Trail Brewing Company is Releasing State Light Peach for the Bowl Game

As you probably can guess by the beer – Penn State will be in the Chik-Fil-A Peach Bowl this year. In honor of Penn State playing in the Peach Bowl – New Trail Brewing Company is releasing State Light Peach.

From their social media announcement:

Are you getting ready to see the Lions in a Bowl game?

You’ll need to pick up State Light Peach – we brewed our light beer with a pop of refreshing peach to celebrate the Bowl selection!

State Light Peach won’t be around for long, but it is available in our Tasting Room starting today and shipping out to retailers this week!

New Trail Brewing Company – Facebook Post

State Light is New Trail Brewing Company’s lager designed for Penn State fans and for Penn State games. Its sold at Beaver Stadium during all of the Penn State Football home games. Its a 4.2% ABV lager, perfect for a few to enjoy while watching a great game at Beaver Stadium or at home on your couch.

So it makes perfect sense to use State Light and add Peach for the upcoming Peach Bowl Game.

According to Untappd, State Light Peach is the same beer as State Light with peaches added to it. Stays the same 4.2% ABV American Lager. The Untappd description for the State Light Peach is: “Our State Light brewed with a pop of sweet refreshing peach to celebrate the Bowl Game.”

The Untappd description for the original State Light is: “State Light is brewed for the fans. At 105 calories and 4.6g of carbs, it’s built to be your every-down beer.”

Happy Valley United

Portions of the sales of State Light Peach will be going to Happy Valley United. Happy Valley United helps to support 800+ student athletes across all 31 sports that Penn State University offers.

For more information you can go to their website: Happy Valley United.

Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl Game

No. 11 Ole Miss (10-2) will face No. 10 Penn State (10-2) in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Saturday, December 30th (2023). From Chik-Fil-A Peach Bowl’s website:

No. 11 Ole Miss (10-2) will face No. 10 Penn State (10-2) in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl as announced by the College Football Playoff selection committee today. The 56th annual Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will be played Saturday, Dec. 30 at noon ET inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and will be nationally televised by ESPN.

This year’s matchup represents only the sixth Big Ten vs. SEC matchup in the Bowl’s history, but will be the second-consecutive showdown between the conferences following last year’s CFP Semifinal that featured No. 4 Ohio State vs. No. 1 Georgia. It also marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Penn State will make its Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl debut, while Ole Miss will play in the Bowl for only the third time in its history, after defeating Georgia Tech 41-18 in the 1971 game and falling 42-3 to TCU in 2014.

3rd Annual Hops and Vines for Hunger Closeout Event

You can read more about the Hops and Vines for Hunger Campaign here:

The Hops and Vines for Hunger 2023 Campaign

The following comes from their campaign (Our Programs) page:

Pennsylvania boasts over 800 breweries and wineries combined across the state — and that number is growing. But just as these numbers are increasing, so are the number of food insecure families and individuals across Pennsylvania. In fact, nearly 2 million Pennsylvanians struggle with hunger every day – including nearly 500,000 children.

That’s why Feeding Pennsylvania, PA Eats, and Breweries in PA are joining forces with local breweries and wineries across the state through Hops & Vines for Hunger — a month-long, statewide fundraiser throughout November. The campaign will aim to:

  • Raise funds to maximize the work of Feeding Pennsylvania’s 9 member food banks and serve Pennsylvanians facing hunger;
  • Support the development of nutrition education resources created by PA Eats to educate food-insecure Pennsylvanians on how to prepare simple, accessible meals with affordable, healthy ingredients commonly found in food pantries;
  • Promote the support of local breweries and wineries across the Commonwealth.

We are very excited to host the Clarion Alzheimer’s Walk at Lost In The Wilds this year.

Our brewery is located along the Rail 66 Country Trail, which is a four season paved hiking and biking trail. We hope that our beautiful outdoor venue and proximity to the trail will provide a perfect atmosphere for this years event. Lost In The Wilds Brewing is a microbrewery located in Shippenville, and is conveniently located at the gateway to the PA WILDS.

We currently produce a wide variety of beers on site and provide a full taproom and sprawling outdoor venue for nature and beer lovers alike. We hope to make this years Alzheimer’s Walk a great success to raise awareness about this disease while giving attendees a spacious and comfortable area to enjoy. We will be offering some fun purple cocktails during the event.

Lost in the Wilds Brewing is located in beautiful Clarion, along Route 66, and a great walking trail. Its so beautiful and wonderful to see a brewery located right alongside a great walking trail, combining two of my favorite activities in one.

Its also so great to see a brewery helping out such a tremendous cause and to have the event at their place and to support organizations fighting terrible diseases like Alzheimer’s.

Alzheimer’s Disease

The following comes from the Wikipedia article on Alzheimer’s Disease.

A picture of an Alzheimer’s Brain compared to a normal brain (photo courtesy of Wikipedia)

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease that usually starts slowly and progressively worsens,[2] and is the cause of 60–70% of cases of dementia.[2][10] The most common early symptom is difficulty in remembering recent events.[1] As the disease advances, symptoms can include problems with language, disorientation (including easily getting lost), mood swings, loss of motivation, self-neglect, and behavioral issues.[2] As a person’s condition declines, they often withdraw from family and society.[11] Gradually, bodily functions are lost, ultimately leading to death. Although the speed of progression can vary, the typical life expectancy following diagnosis is three to nine years.[needs update][8][12]

The cause of Alzheimer’s disease is poorly understood.[11] There are many environmental and genetic risk factors associated with its development. The strongest genetic risk factor is from an allele of APOE.[13][14] Other risk factors include a history of head injury, clinical depression, and high blood pressure.[1] The disease process is largely associated with amyloid plaques, neurofibrillary tangles, and loss of neuronal connections in the brain.[15] A probable diagnosis is based on the history of the illness and cognitive testing, with medical imaging and blood tests to rule out other possible causes.[5][16] Initial symptoms are often mistaken for normal brain aging.[11] Examination of brain tissue is needed for a definite diagnosis, but this can only take place after death.[17] Good nutrition, physical activity, and engaging socially are known to be of benefit generally in aging, and may help in reducing the risk of cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s.[15]

No treatments can stop or reverse its progression, though some may temporarily improve symptoms.[2] Affected people become increasingly reliant on others for assistance, often placing a burden on caregivers.[18] The pressures can include social, psychological, physical, and economic elements.[18] Exercise programs may be beneficial with respect to activities of daily living and can potentially improve outcomes.[19] Behavioral problems or psychosis due to dementia are often treated with antipsychotics, but this is not usually recommended, as there is little benefit and an increased risk of early death.[20][21]

As of 2020, there were approximately 50 million people worldwide with Alzheimer’s disease.[9] It most often begins in people over 65 years of age, although up to 10% of cases are early-onset impacting those in their 30s to mid-60s.[17][4] It affects about 6% of people 65 years and older,[11] and women more often than men.[22] The disease is named after German psychiatrist and pathologist Alois Alzheimer, who first described it in 1906.[23] Alzheimer’s financial burden on society is large, with an estimated global annual cost of US$1 trillion.[9] It is ranked as the seventh leading cause of death in the United States.[15]

The Beer Thrillers are Joining the Hops and Vines for Hunger Cause

As you might have seen on the Hops and Vines for Hunger Facebook and / or Instagram pages today – The Beer Thrillers have joined their cause.

As we covered in our previous article – Hops and Vines for Hunger (2023) – Hops and Vines for Hunger reached out to us letting us know this year they were actively trying to get bloggers, content creators, and influencers to join the cause – alongside breweries, wineries, and distilleries.

Hops and Vines for Hunger

The campaign aims to:

  • Raise funds to maximize the work of Feeding Pennsylvania’s nine member food banks and serve Pennsylvanians facing hunger
  • Support the development of nutrition education resources created by PA Eats to educate food-insecure Pennsylvanians on how to prepare simple, accessible meals with affordable, healthy ingredients commonly found in food pantries
  • Promote the support of local breweries and wineries across the Commonwealth

This is a month long fundraiser in November and they have been doing it yearly now for a few years.

Registration is now closed for new members to join adding their name to the cause – but you can still help. You can donate through the numerous breweries, wineries, distilleries, bloggers, content creators, YouTubers, and Influencers who have joined this great cause.

The Beer Thrillers

We will be writing several articles promoting various breweries and their contributions and programs to raise money for the Hops and Vines for Hunger program and cause – as well as thinking and finding ways of our own to participate and donate to the cause.

So please join us in bringing attention to this great cause and helping us promote, help, donate, and help it grow. Stay tuned with us for more information and more articles.

We are working on a massive project here at The Beer Thrillers. We are creating a map of all of the breweries across the United States. State by state we are adding maps of all of the different states with every brewery in each state. (We will eventually get to the US Territories, as well as the Canadian Provinces, and possibly more countries; as well as doing some fun maps like a map of all the breweries we’ve been to, and other fun maps.) You can find the brewery maps here:

We are also working on a project of creating printable and downloadable PDFs and resources to be able to check and keep track of all of the breweries you’ve been to. So stay tuned for that project once we are finished with the Brewery Maps of the US States.

Hops for Hunger

Raising the Bar in the Fight Against Hunger

Hops for Hunger (Hops and Vines for Hunger) reached out to us to help them promote this wonderful fundraiser.

Hops and Vines for Hunger

  • Raise funds to maximize the work of Feeding Pennsylvania’s 9 member food banks and serve Pennsylvanians facing hunger;
  • Support the development of nutrition education resources created by PA Eats to educate food-insecure Pennsylvanians on how to prepare simple, accessible meals with affordable, healthy ingredients commonly found in food pantries;
  • Promote the support of local breweries and wineries across the Commonwealth.

Bloggers, Influencers, YouTubers, and More (Oh My)

This year, for their upcoming November campaign – Feeding PA through Hops and Vines for Hunger are reaching out to bloggers, influencers, YouTubers, and more to help get the word out on this wonderful campaign to try and boost and promote the need to help feed people in Pennsylvania.

You can do your part as well. If you would like to help out with the campaign, in any way, go to their “Our Programs page here: Feeding PA – Hops and Vines for Hunger (Our Programs) page. There you can see ways to promote, and campaign, as well as ways to donate directly.

I hope you will join us in helping Feeding PA and the Hops and Vines for Hunger campaign to help feed hungry Pennsylvanians.
